Absolutely amazing choice of food from across the world 🌎 😋. We all changed our minds because there were so many lovely choices. Lovely service too.

The most amazing Sunday roasts. I had the lamb shank & my friend had the beef, the yorkshires were huge, veggies were plentiful & of great variety, sadly we had no room for dessert, so we got those as takeaways, how civilised & decadent, we will be having them later. Thank you so much for a very pleasant experience, I will be back.

Probably one of the best pubs we have ever been to! We were staying nearby for a few nights so used the White Swan as our local. A cosy warm welcoming by the owners and staff, the menu is exceptional inspired by countries around the world with a huge variety and something for everyone, they even do takeaway! The food is 5*, unique and simply delicious! And they are dog friendly. Thankyou to all the staff! We will be back!

What a little gem hidden in the village of Woodnewton. The menu has so much to choose from, the food does not disappoint and the atmosphere has a nice vibe. Highly recommend you see for yourself. We will be back x

Fabulous! A truly amazing menu with something for everyone. We have been twice in a week!! Staff are very attentive and the food is delicious. Give it a try you won’t be disappointed.

We all enjoyed our visit to the White Swan from the moment we walked in. Upon entering the pub we were greeted by one of the owners who was really welcoming. The restaurant is really well laid out and has great decor. The menu is vast and all the food is cooked fresh to order. We all ordered different dishes and everything was absolutely delicious with some really interesting and tasty variations on some traditional dishes. The staff were all so friendly and knowledgeable on the food to answer questions and give recommendations. I would definitely visit again to try some more of the delightful food.

Very nice place good food and service with a smile too

This is country pub is an absolute gem in the countryside. We visited twice whilst we were in the area in December visiting family. There is a large outside patio garden just off their own car park with plenty of parking. Inside there are tables for dining & a comfortable bar for drinks where we met the owners of the pub working away with their staff. Food wise there is such a nice selection we decided to go back again for another visit the following week because we enjoyed the food so much. I had the lamb shank, the meat just fell off the bone & my husband had the ribs. Upon our second visit we went for their Sunday lunch menu. We actually arrived 20 minutes early but the owners sat us down straight away. All in all a lovely pub with great food in the countryside. We will definitely be returning next year when we’re in the area.

Had a chance to meet owners, wouldn’t recommend to anyone, they think they are beyond everyone else as they have more money in their pocket… sad very sad, avoid this place. Also hygiene is very poor…

Good variety of food to suit all in a great atmosphere.

Good service. Good portions of food. Very large, varied menu so it takes you ages to choose! Came with my parents who live locally, and they were very supportive of food intolerances (and no issues afterward demonstrate they are good!). It wasn't very busy, but they put us in the corner under a speaker which they happily turned down when requested as i was struggling to hear.

We have just had a party of 21 to celebrate my husband's 80th birthday at the White Swan Woodnewton. I pre ordered everyone's meal choice which was a great success. The food was wonderful, and enjoyed by all our guests. The portions were on the large side so we all feel they could be reduced a little.The staff were very polite and friendly. All in all it was a wonderful experience and would strongly recommend this venue. S Mayhew.

This is a lovely pub with generous portions, huge menu. Service was friendly but slow. We went as a group of 7 and it was very hard to hear it was very loud in such a small space with so many people it was challenging. I enjoyed my meal but prob wouldnt visit again.

Our first disappointing meal at the swan . We chose the Christmas dinner but it was not that enjoyable or up to the usual standard of their food . Defiantly not worth what we paid for it .

Came here with my wife and had some beers and food. Sat near the bar/ front door and had a constant waft of sewage throughout the evening. Felt a bit soul-less in there. Great pint, but the chicken gyros mains was awful.

After always having a good experience at The White Swan was disappointed after a family birthday get together. One of our party's meal was pretty much burnt to a cinder and so hard it couldn't be eaten, I guess alarm bells should have rung when the establishment was filled with smoke prior to our meal being served! When asked how the meal was and us saying that this particular meal was awful the response was a flippant 'oh sorry', and we were charged in full for it. Well 'oh sorry' but we won't be back in a hurry. To add insult to injury we were charged over £20 service charge as we were a party of 7, despite one being 3 year old and another a 1 year old! Will be choosing a different venue in the future.

If you want to meet up with friends or family go here. Not only is the food excellent, the menu is extensive. There is definitely something for everyone as there is so much variety. The service and atmosphere are lovely. We had a great time. I highly recommend it.

Nice place, extensive menu, good food and generous portions, although it is a bit on the expensive side for pub grub. £4.50 for a regular Pepsi, for example, is pretty exorbitant for a village pub.

OWNER TELLING STAFF OFF IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS!! My wife & i popped into the White Swan on Saturday 9th Sept 2023 for a quick drink to cool off after our bike ride. The lady behind the bar who served me was so warm & welcoming and it was a pleasure chatting with her. Once my drinks were poured, i took them back outside to my wife....as we sat on the bench, a white Benley arrived with two middle aged men inside. Around ten minutes later, the owner came outside with the woman i had spoken too earlier from behind the bar. The owner was ticking her off for simply not lifting up the second parrasol outside, the lady tried to tell him that she had really tried to lift it but could not, the owner did not believe her and continued to talk really bad right infront of us and his customers. He was degrading and embarrassing her right in front of all his customers in the pub. Just the look on the young ladies face and her experession was obvious to see. And this was totally unacceptable. He should have spoken to her in the back office in private. ( Just to confirm to the owner reading this review, you actually owe your staff member a big appology and some respect. The young lady DID try to lift the parassol, ten minutes before the owners arrived but it was awkward for her to fix the pin. My wife & i saw her try.... As a business owner myself with twenty five staff, i found the white Swan owner totally unproffeshional, disrespectful & very inexperienced dealing with staff. It was not only bad for his staff to experience, but also for us customers to hear it too.

Venue is really clean and staff are nice. The menu looked fantastic with lots of variety. Prices were about what I would have expected to pay in a pub, but the portion sizes were way bigger. I had to check if I had actually ordered a dish that was to be shared by accident. So much flavour and freshness to the food. Only downside in my opinion was the small choice of beers. They have about 50 different gins and wines, so well catered for there. I had an after dinner cocktail that was really nice and fairly priced in my opinion. Overall, a great night and I will go back. Edit - went back again today and it's still great!

Great location but too much choice on the menu. Can't help but think they reduce and master these items. Service was poor, grumpy rude staff. Atmosphere was harsh. We had two individuals who seemed to take issue to us dining at their local. Some diversity education is needed for this backward place. Wanted it to be be great but staff and other diners ruined it. 😔 edited to reflect the reply. Regarding diversity this was aimed at the other diners not the management or staff. Thankfully I'll never be returning.

Myself and my partner decided to try the white Swan a couple of weeks ago and was greeted with a warm welcome by Jason and the food and service was on point. We went again on Saturday and the service was slow, took ages to get drink and food, had to ask for the table to be cleared. When our mains arrived my salad was filled with leaves of corriandor, absolutely horrendous could not even eat it. Asked them to take away and didn't want it anymore to which they Brought out another salad with the same meat which had coriander all over still. Did not eat this. They charged us full price with no apology over a unedible dinner. £90 we were charged. Will not be returning.

The staff were lovely, the food was nice, the 12.5% service charge we noticed on our receipt afterwards was a deal breaker. I phoned to query it and was told they would see 'what they could sort out' and I would get a call back the next day....I didn't. I phoned again 2 days later and this time spoke to the rude, arrogant, argumentative manager. I ended up swearing at him out of sheer frustration at his attitude. I sincerely hope he treats his staff better than he treats his customers. We should have seen the warning signs from the tone of his responses to anyone who gives any less-than-favourable feedback!

Visited this restaurant on a Sunday lunch for my grandson 10th birthday. Disappointing that a 12.5% surcharge on an already expensive bill but even more disappointed with reaction of management when complained.A manager needing a course of customer care. Arrogant and rude. This surcharge should have been pointed out when we made the booking. Will not return and suggest others avoid.

Absolutely awful and management were so disrespectful…when we came in we heard the way they spoke to their very young staff and it was honestly disgusting... AVOID!!!

Sat outside under the tent, lovely experience. Food was excellent...smoke scallops starter recommended! Picked it by-chance on the way home after a day in London, got lucky!

When Will and Jason send an email and let you know they are doing Breakfast …. my advice is book quickly ! This is by far the best breakfast within a 30 mile radius. Can only give 5 stars would give more if the system allowed !

Visited this establishment for the first time. Had been told it was possibly the best in the area. We entered at 6:50pm and ordered a bottle of wine and perused the menu, order taken and we eventually got our meal at 7:40pm. I ordered the Steak & Ale pie, chips and veg. The veg in my opinion was under cooked. The pie and chips were OK but nothing special. My wife had tapas and that was nothing special. Sat on the next table to us was a couple with a dog. It was continually walking around their table, shaking itself and I have to ask, “ Why are dogs allowed in a restaurant ?” We decided not to have a desert because of the dog. Paid the bill at the bar and was told by owner that he had taken a new chef on and he apologised for the slow service. The restaurant was crowded and still lacked some ambiance. The was as said earlier our first visit and we will not be returning again. Nothing special and overall disappointing.

Amazing! Really warm, chatty welcome. Modern clean decor. The widest selection of menu choices I have seen in a long while including flatbreads, curries, sizzlers as well as more traditional pub fayre. Our choices were both a real treat (one flatbread, one curry), authentic, fresh, well presented. Quite pricey but worth it (didn’t think I would ever write that) when you compare it against what you might pay the same for elsewhere. Going back again in 2 days time … it was that good!

This is a beautiful 18th century pub in a stunning village a short distance drive from Oundle. We have visited a few times and have always really enjoyed our lunches/dinners there. I had my favourite ever starter there once in the warm skotch egg.... Beautiful. Their roast dinners are extremely good and service exceptional too. There is a narrowish driveway to the side of the pub leading to a small car park but there is ample on street parking. Overall an excellent experience at the swan.

Very poor. The last time we visited the restaurant cancelled our booking without informing us. There are some vegan options but the range needs to be vastly improved. 🦢 Staff range from moody to unhelpful although some are friendly. If, however, all you want is to watch a continuous 15 second loop of swans swimming on a big wall mounted TV as you relax then this establishment should be top of your bucket list. 🦢

Oh dear. Returned here to enjoy a family birthday meal for 5 of us. We were looking forward to going out to a village pub further afield just for a change and had been to the White Swan a few years ago. First of all no welcome on arrival despite the bar area being almost empty. Our table was directly opposite the bar area and we felt this was a little cramped. Despite the extensive menu choice the food was pretty poor. The calamari starters were too salty and both guests agreed. Our main courses were very disappointing- it would take too long to go into details about every single meal but I left all the chicken pieces on the kebab meal I ordered because of the taste - all pieces very fatty and not very nice at all. Aside from the food disappointment, the service was poor. Often the waitresses were gathered at the bar when not actually serving , stood near their boss but never really kept a check on whether customers needed anything- such as more drinks for example. However this really indicates that they have never really been trained to do this as part of their role and they were probably unaware of how this looked or that they had customers waiting to order extra drinks. After the long wait for food and disappointment with the starters and main course, we decided not to wait for puddings. Whichever owner was stood behind the bar all night - you would do well to smile occasionally, take an interest in your customers and thank them when they leave instead of ignoring them. We declined to pay the voluntary gratuity during payment. Such a disappointing experience and an expensive meal overall which was not enjoyable. No excuses. We will not be returning.

We've just been to the White Swan for the first time this Mother's Day, great place,wonderful food, fast service, smile staff I can say we'll be back. It was a nice suprise to see alcohol free gin to. Thankyou to all the bar staff and waitresses and waiters.

Staff very friendly and efficient. Food absolutely delicious. We’ve been a few times over the past couple of years and have always been very impressed by the variety of menu items and the quality of our choices. My only complaint would be that I always find it hard to choose because so many of the choices are too tempting. Needless to say, I can’t wait for my next return visit.

Amazing food! Amazing service the owners are lovely chatty and friendly without imposing on your night. Had a great night and will definitely be back! Cannot wait to try some of the other dishes we saw leaving the kitchen! We’ve found a new regular watering hole for sure!

Had an amazing breakfast there this morning! Fresh ingredients cooked really well. Really good service as well. The only problem I had was that I genuinely struggled to choose something from the menu as I could have had about 3 of the options, it all sounded delicious! Will definitely be back!

Very dissappointed on this visit. Service charge for drinks at the bar while waiting for our table. Food wasn't great on this visit and asked for separate bills as 2 of the party had vouchers to use was told they couldn't and can't help feeling so they could put another service charge on the bill. Won't be back for the foreseeable.

First time visit today for myself and Mrs H. The White Swan is a lovely looking pub restaurant. Old original look , but with some modern fixtures inside . The food and drinks menus are large and varied , so definitely someone always on there for any mood that takes your fancy . Good beers and a 100 gin menu too Food is a mix of foods from around the world , tapas , Indo-Chinese , Curries , homemade burgers and much much more !! As was. Sunday , we both opted for the Sunday Roast Sunday Roast . I went with the Sunday Roast . I chose the Roast Beef , which was lovely ( could have had an extra slice , then be perfect ) Mrs H went with the Lamb Shank , which was amazing . We had some room for dessert , so we went with Sticky Toffee Pudding and a Mars Bad cheese cake , both were great . Would / Will definitely return to try something else off their varied Manu

We had heard that this was a good place to eat and booked a table for new years eve. There were mixed reviews but dont any notice of the negative ones ! This was probably the best meal we have had in years ! This is a special place !

The atmosphere is good, however we had to send our starter back as it was wrong, and return burnt pizzas. When the pizza came back the second time the toppings were wrong. Bit of a shame really.

Such a horrible place. I came to visit with my family there and the experience was terrible. Rude staff, tasteless food. Be careful with this place please

17 of us had the most amazing family meal on Sunday afternoon. The service was brilliant and the food even better. Would recommend this place to anyone as their was so much choice. 100% will be visiting again.

Cannot recommend the White Swan highly enough. The food was superb and the choice amazing. The staff were polite and attentive and the two owners so friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back.

If I could rate this 0 stars I would, absolutely shocking management, rude and aggressive and very argumentative, the worst customer service I have ever witnessed, if your thinking of sending you food back it’s it’s wrong or raw unless you want the 2 male mangers screaming at you I would advise against this, both mangers was shouting and arguing with a party having a meal as one member sent the meal back, they tried to tip an elderly lady out of her seat to get them to leave, as a customer watching this I felt very uncomfortable the whole restaurant went silent and I don’t think people could believe what they had just witnessed, if this is your style of management I would suggest finding a job better suited to yourself because you should not be in this trade.

We went to the Abba night and it was an amazing experience! Food was amazing, especially the pate starter in the picture which was 👌👌. Abbalicious were great too, and we even got a surprise visit from Chinese Abba

Not a typical village pub, but what they do is pretty good. Decor is contemporary and fresh. Varied menu. My choice was Himalayan goat curry which I found to be the business. Generous serving with rice, poppadom, and naan. Well recommended for an evening meal.

I always like a pub that does a full menu on a Sunday. Had some very tasty tapas dishes and a decent pint of ale.

Really sorry hopping other people put photos on here . Place is perfect . 🥰 my daughter inlaw and I had Tapas we chose 6 dishes coming from 🇬🇮 Gibraltar she let me choose there was so much we where stuffed. The boys had the chicken and ham pie. Home made bursting with filling ,they loved it as well. Place wS very clean ,staff was prompt and friendly.

Absolutely exquisite establishment. The decor of the building is amazing, staff are extremely friendly, polite and quick. The food, THE FOOD - If I had the money and stomach, I would try absolutely everything there - I've never been so torn over the choices of a dinner at an eatery. Took me about 15 minutes and changing my mind 3 times to actually pick what I wanted. The range of European food from Spanish Tapas to Greek Gyros as well as the Asian inspired cuisine of Duck Bao Buns and Thai-Style fish cakes. If I'm back in the area, I will, and I mean WILL, be returning to try other items from the menu, and maybe this time have enough room for desert. The drinks selection is also very good.

Wonderful food. The Himalayan Goat Curry was truly excellent. We enjoyed all 4 courses. Would have been even better if there had been a selection of locally brewed beers.

Great pub in lovely village Got in 12:28, lady was with menus after 1 minute. It wasn't too busy Guinness and cider was brought to us after 6 minutes. We went full on and we waited for meals shown on photos aprox 15 minutes. Food was lovely and fresh and satisfying portions. Dessert was a cheesecake and was very fresh super tasty not too sweet. Toilet was super clean at 14:30 Would definitely come bck to try other dishes and pizzas. Thank you.
