The White Swan in East Northamptonshire

Brilliant food and service! We had the crispy chilli chicken, and the Mongolian beef sizzler, both delicious! Staff were professional and friendly, nothing too much trouble. Would definitely recommend and will 100% be back.

We visited the White Swan today after not having been for a couple of months (unusual for us) due to a very busy summer! I had the the Sunday roast (pork) and my husband had the steak and Guinness pie. Both meals were excellent. The pork was perfectly cooked and the veg was very fresh and crisp (just the way we like it!). Lovely roasts and Yorkshire. My husband loved his pie and mash. It was also nice to get lots of gravy! We had apple and blackberry crumble to share and it was delicious! Staff were wonderful as always. Thank you :)

Wonderful lunch with fabulous food and service!

Our table of 6 (including a few fussy eaters) really enjoyed our evening at the White Swan. The menu is extensive, the portions are large & the staff are super attentive. There was even a special menu for our dog & she loved the sausages! The puddings are a must if you can fit them in. I only wish we lived closer so we could go back and try the rest of the menu!

Booked Sunday lunch for 24. The food and service were both superb. Extremely efficient in ensuring everyone got their food around the same time and being attentive to everyone’s request. The quality of the food was amazing

Omg where do I start toni and Jason wasted no time welcoming us and getting us to our seats and we had our drinks within 5 minutes amazing survice food was cooked to perfection by two very talented chefs (Paul km and James sou ) a million percent will be comeing back and telling all my freinds and family

Great food which was cooked perfectly and presented well Toni the lady serving us was very friendly and professional and even came out to us after we’d left as I’d left my dog’s water bottle behind. Will be back as both food and service was amazing 🤩

Highly recommend this place - food is fantastic and the menu is very extensive. There is such a wide variety of different foods on the menu - you’d think with the choice being so vast, it wouldn’t be that good, you’d be wrong - everything we’d had on the menu on all our visits has been lovely.

Well....start on a positive,table of 9 of us,pre ordered mains special 70th birthday meal...Staff were smiley friendly and lovely...and service quite prompt. But 8 out of 9 main meals very disappointing....in fact,not good at all... 2 of them were barely warm,and when staff member came across and asked if food was ok,they were told about those 2 particular meals being nearly cold....no sorry,help,they just walked away..so what was the point in asking us? .2 of us had the mac and cheese lasagne,but to be honest....the big chunks of meat were very gristley,and i dont think i would class it as a bolognase sauce....more like a casserole with lots of tomato flavour,with pasta on top,and not very cheesy.... My husband had the sausages with mash....but at nearly £17.00...( £16.95) He was the only one who said his food was ok...but even he said,the base of his mash had a funny crusty bit on the base of it...?..we was all going to have pudding,but after that,we all agreed not to....we asked for service charge to be removed,and,unlike our family no tip was left.... Also,my husband had a pint of guiness,and i had a pepsi max( not a pint) and for those 2 drinks alone,it was £11.90.....am i living in the dark ages? Is that the average price of drinks now? 3rd time we have tried the pub,last time wasnt brilliant either,but ,thought maybe having an off day,so gave it another go Wont be going back........😕

We have just visited this beautiful little pub with my son (who has been several times) What can I say other than "wow". As soon as you walk in you are greatest with a lovely smile and hello from the team. The menu is bursting with foods from around the world, there is so much to choose from. If like me,you are indecisive,do not fear, you will want to go back,so you just have something different each time. Plenty to giggle at with the subtle innuendo for some of the dish names. The food is served in good time,still with a friendly smiley face, is piping hot, and superbly fresh, non of this microwave muck you get at chain pubs. The portion sizes are huge, you certainly need to ensure you keep plenty of room free before you go. This pub is an absolute gem of a place. If you can,be brave and save room for desert, they are also incredible. Can't wait to come back and try something different.

We booked to come for Sunday lunch on Aug Bank Holiday weekend as we were staying at Landal Rockingham. What a great choice! Such a friendly welcome by the owner and an amazing choice of food (even a doggy menu which our golden retriever loved). We enjoyed it so much we returned the next day to enjoy lunch in their beautiful beer garden before travelling home! Thankyou, we will certainly return!

Had our 1st breakfast experience at The White Swan yesterday and just like our evening meals it was amazing. Couldn’t fault food or staff as always just as attentive and friendly.

This was our first time at the White Swan having been recommended by a friend. We went as a couple, in the afternoon having booked a table. Upon entry we were met by a pleasant chap who showed us to our table. The waiting staff were incredibly friendly and easy to talk to, and the atmosphere is definitely relaxed and inviting. Our drinks were served quickly and menus handed to us. The choices from the menu are very large and usually I’m a little weary of establishments that have such a large offering however, what comes across really well is the back story of the owners and their food experiences on their travels. This is their food and their stamp on the place, and what a masterpiece it is! We ordered camembert and calamari for starters which came out quickly. The camembert was warmed perfectly so nice and gooey and calamari was home made and crispy. Mains we ordered burgers - these are proper burgers and I mean 2 large beef patties (homemade), decent sized buns and with each comes a twist. My wife had a Mexican variant and I had the truffle version. Quite possibly one of the best burgers we’ve eaten. Dessert I had the fairground cart; the ice cream, pop corn, candy floss and donuts were sublime, it’s presented so well and also fun. We asked for a box to take the donuts back as we were absolutely full, and they gladly accommodated this. In summary, this place is pretty epic. Slightly different offering from the usual pub food and because of this, it stands out and is a must try! We’ll definitely be coming back because we want to try the other burger varieties.

One of the best places I've ever eaten at. The food is insanely good, well priced and cooked to order meaning it's fresh and tasty. They specify there may be a slight wait due to the fresh food being cooked to order but honestly the ambience and atmosphere are so lovely it was no bother to me and my Mrs. We ended up just chatting to the staff a whole bunch. 100% recommend even if it's a commute to get there.

I have visited the white swan this evening and I am highly disappointed, ive been there many times before and it has been brilliant. unfortunately I have visited tonight and was shocked, the waitress that served us was lovely however we waited 1 hour 30 minutes for just three starters, we got told the food was coming but still waited a further 30 minutes with no apology or food. We decided to leave as we were very upset and was offered to speak to a manager who would come out within a few minutes. However 20 minutes later he still hadn’t been over. The manager came outside multiple times but completely avoided us, we went to the bar to pay for the drinks we had, and the manager was at the bar, he asked if the bill was for our family and instantly walked away when he knew it was us. i’m very disappointed because we’ve always enjoyed it here before and thought highly of the buisness but tonight we feel very let down .

As usual another amazing meal. We love this place so much . Visited today to try out a meal from the specials menu “ The duchess of pork “ wow haven’t seen anything like it , my partner thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the Hong Kong chicken and again was delicious. This is the only pub I have ever been to where I try different things each time . The staff as always were fab, so friendly and welcoming, not many places you go where the owner will come and chat to you. We always recommend this place to our friends as it really is the best place around to eat . Thank you and we will see you again soon :)

Amazingly comprehensive menu. The roast beef was succulent and plentiful, and the potatoes were great. The Yorkshire puddings arrived after we had started and were rather hard and dry, but this was the only real criticism. A few green vegetables might have added some colour, but there was plenty to satisfy the appetite. No pictures as we were too hungry!

What a lovely place, first time here but won't be the last. Although really busy our food was first class, would definitely recommend.

Made mistake of having a late 5.30 afternoon Sunday roast 2 others Had different myself and another had dry over cooked cold plates. I'm sure at the earlier lunch would have been ok. first time I've had cardboard parsnips leather carrots, Plastic roast potatoes very disappointing

Really nice food, cooked well, with friendly staff and and a fabulous atmosphere. Service was prompt, staff were attentive, and it's a lovely setting too. We've travelled further for lesser quality and higher prices, it was our first visit and it absolutely won't be our last.

Waited over an hour for our food! Had to ask the staff when our food would come out, and No staff came over to apologise. Food was not enjoyable and did not eat it, as had waited far too long. Would not recommend at all. Was far too expensive for what it is

My brother and I visited here for a family birthday as it’s almost midway between us and dog friendly. A good and a bad thing is that the White Swan has a very extensive menu, almost too much because as a meat eater my brother struggled to make a choice. But he plumped for the chilli burger. I went for the fake dish and chips as a vegetarian. Both were large portions and sadly we couldn’t take up the desert options.

Had buffalo wings for starters that were anemic, and had hardly any contact with buffalo sauce. The main course was sirloin and every cut had fat or sinew running through. It was advertised and charged as a sirloin, but did not look or taste like a sirloin. My parents both had seabass that was pretty dry. Their broccoli was that hard, you couldn't get a knife through it. We ate what we could of the dinner, and despite mentioning this to the waiter, who fed straight back to the kitchen, we had no further communication from the staff . The waiter said he had told the manager, who came out to the bar area, but did not have the courtesy to speak with us . Will not be visiting this place again. Surely any negative comments, as a manager or owner you'd at least speak with your customers. No one seemed to care

My hubby and i never having been before attended a 60th Birthday at the White Swan. As soon as we stepped onto the patio we knew it would be something special, and we were not disappointed. Pretty and clean outside with plenty of seating encased in wonderful shrubbery and flowers. Stepping inside a clean and warm welcome ‘hugged us’. The whole team were kind, attentive, smiling and nothing was to much trouble, considering there were 24 in our party alone. The pub was full to the brim, testament to a good Pub/Restaurant, our meals were superb, a huge range and very substantial portions. We will be back for more . The owners and whole team, front of house and behind the scenes really delivered and are a credit to the industry, This is by far the best place to eat and drink, and i shall be spreading the good word. What a fabulous find! Jason, Will and team are second to none. We were a party of 10, plus baby, plus dog. Family birthday celebration. We ordered in advance, they were all set up for us when we arrived (slightly late due to long journeys and traffic), very welcoming and our delicious food was served within a very short time. Fantastic menu. Fabulous food, outstanding service, lovely staff, excellent venue in picturesque village. Thank you, everyone. We will be back!

A really nice pub/restaurant with a great menu selection. We arrived for our meal at 6pm and it wasn’t very busy but gradually filled up whilst we were dining so booking would be recommended. The mozzerella dippers have been replaced by a foot long mozzerella dipper which was delicious but for my liking could have been served a touch warmer so that the cheese was more melted. The burgers are delicious and the desserts were also fantastic.

Undoubtedly this is a lovely pub with a great atmosphere and staff but we r always underwhelmed by the food, such a shame as this is my local. Roast lamb - pale roast potatoes and food was not hot (although offered to heat it up I declined as pref to eat with my family). I think one parsnip (looked like a skinny fry) and the rest of the veg was mushy and swimming in some kind of jus/gravy. Lamb could have done with some colour.

My sister recently had her wedding meal here. It was amazing! The staff were efficient and attentive. The food as always was amazing. The place was busy when we visited on a Friday evening but we got seated quickly in the redecorated restaurant. The menu is HUGE ... basically you can have any type of food you want! I fancied the chilli crispy beef which I'd have before. The order took a while to arrive (as they were so busy and the 2 young servers were running around trying to keep the whole restaurant going - well done them) but was steaming hot when it did come. My dish consisted of a piece of sliced steak, re-fried to make it crispy, in a pool of dark soy sauce, with un-fried onions on a hot plate and no chillies (rice and crackers accompanied). It was okay, but not a patch on the traditional crispy chilli beef I had before. The rest of our table reported their meals to be okay but my fellow diner who had the same as me, thought the same as me. This is a great Pub and we'll be back in the summer to try again ...

Huge menu that covers many cuisines from pub classics through the Mediterranean, Asia and the USA. The portions are on the larger size. Staff were very attentive and friendly and the prices are pretty reasonable.

Wonderful first time visit to The White Swan on a May Bank Holiday weekend. Massive selection on the menu with all kinds to suit all! We opted for some yummy bucket winds and an incredible Pork Roast for main. Very tasty, big portion and enough of everything, which is rare this day and age. A big shout out ro the serving team on Sunday 5th as it was very busy and there was no delay to service plus they were very attentive! Lovely outdoor space with plenty of seats in the sun or shade. Can't wait to return when we are back in the area soon!

Great small restaurant and pub featuring some amazing dishes, which include fried chicken, ribs, and wings. There is a 12.5% service charge on parties over 6, which can make splitting the bill difficult, so I recommend asking for separate checks from the start (which is why I gave service 4 stars as the young lad didn't add the service fee to each when our group settled up).

The most amazing Sunday roasts. I had the lamb shank & my friend had the beef, the yorkshires were huge, veggies were plentiful & of great variety, sadly we had no room for dessert, so we got those as takeaways, how civilised & decadent, we will be having them later. Probably one of the best pubs we have ever been to! We were staying nearby for a few nights so used the White Swan as our local. A cosy warm welcoming by the owners and staff, the menu is exceptional inspired by countries around the world with a huge variety and something for everyone, they even do takeaway! The food is 5*, unique and simply delicious! And they are dog friendly. Thankyou to all the staff! We will be back!

We all enjoyed our visit to the White Swan from the moment we walked in. Upon entering the pub we were greeted by one of the owners who was really welcoming. The restaurant is really well laid out and has great decor. The menu is vast and all the food is cooked fresh to order. We all ordered different dishes and everything was absolutely delicious with some really interesting and tasty variations on some traditional dishes. The staff were all so friendly and knowledgeable on the food to answer questions and give recommendations. I would definitely visit again to try some more of the delightful food.

Very nice place good food and service with a smile too

This is country pub is an absolute gem in the countryside. We visited twice whilst we were in the area in December visiting family. There is a large outside patio garden just off their own car park with plenty of parking. Inside there are tables for dining & a comfortable bar for drinks where we met the owners of the pub working away with their staff. Food wise there is such a nice selection we decided to go back again for another visit the following week because we enjoyed the food so much. I had the lamb shank, the meat just fell off the bone & my husband had the ribs. Upon our second visit we went for their Sunday lunch menu. We actually arrived 20 minutes early but the owners sat us down straight away. All in all a lovely pub with great food in the countryside. We will definitely be returning next year when we’re in the area.

Had a chance to meet owners, wouldn’t recommend to anyone, they think they are beyond everyone else as they have more money in their pocket… sad very sad, avoid this place. Also hygiene is very poor…

Good variety of food to suit all in a great atmosphere.

Good service. Good portions of food. Very large, varied menu so it takes you ages to choose! Came with my parents who live locally, and they were very supportive of food intolerances (and no issues afterward demonstrate they are good!). It wasn't very busy, but they put us in the corner under a speaker which they happily turned down when requested as i was struggling to hear.

We have just had a party of 21 to celebrate my husband's 80th birthday at the White Swan Woodnewton. I pre ordered everyone's meal choice which was a great success. The food was wonderful, and enjoyed by all our guests. The portions were on the large side so we all feel they could be reduced a little.The staff were very polite and friendly. All in all it was a wonderful experience and would strongly recommend this venue. S Mayhew.

This is a lovely pub with generous portions, huge menu. Service was friendly but slow. We went as a group of 7 and it was very hard to hear it was very loud in such a small space with so many people it was challenging. I enjoyed my meal but prob wouldnt visit again.

Our first disappointing meal at the swan . We chose the Christmas dinner but it was not that enjoyable or up to the usual standard of their food . Defiantly not worth what we paid for it .

Came here with my wife and had some beers and food. Sat near the bar/ front door and had a constant waft of sewage throughout the evening. Felt a bit soul-less in there. Great pint, but the chicken gyros mains was awful.

After always having a good experience at The White Swan was disappointed after a family birthday get together. One of our party's meal was pretty much burnt to a cinder and so hard it couldn't be eaten, I guess alarm bells should have rung when the establishment was filled with smoke prior to our meal being served! When asked how the meal was and us saying that this particular meal was awful the response was a flippant 'oh sorry', and we were charged in full for it. Well 'oh sorry' but we won't be back in a hurry. To add insult to injury we were charged over £20 service charge as we were a party of 7, despite one being 3 year old and another a 1 year old! Will be choosing a different venue in the future.

If you want to meet up with friends or family go here. Not only is the food excellent, the menu is extensive. There is definitely something for everyone as there is so much variety. The service and atmosphere are lovely. We had a great time. I highly recommend it.

Nice place, extensive menu, good food and generous portions, although it is a bit on the expensive side for pub grub. £4.50 for a regular Pepsi, for example, is pretty exorbitant for a village pub.

OWNER TELLING STAFF OFF IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS!! My wife & i popped into the White Swan on Saturday 9th Sept 2023 for a quick drink to cool off after our bike ride. The lady behind the bar who served me was so warm & welcoming and it was a pleasure chatting with her. Once my drinks were poured, i took them back outside to my wife....as we sat on the bench, a white Benley arrived with two middle aged men inside. Around ten minutes later, the owner came outside with the woman i had spoken too earlier from behind the bar. The owner was ticking her off for simply not lifting up the second parrasol outside, the lady tried to tell him that she had really tried to lift it but could not, the owner did not believe her and continued to talk really bad right infront of us and his customers. He was degrading and embarrassing her right in front of all his customers in the pub. Just the look on the young ladies face and her experession was obvious to see. And this was totally unacceptable. He should have spoken to her in the back office in private. ( Just to confirm to the owner reading this review, you actually owe your staff member a big appology and some respect. The young lady DID try to lift the parassol, ten minutes before the owners arrived but it was awkward for her to fix the pin. My wife & i saw her try.... As a business owner myself with twenty five staff, i found the white Swan owner totally unproffeshional, disrespectful & very inexperienced dealing with staff. It was not only bad for his staff to experience, but also for us customers to hear it too.

Venue is really clean and staff are nice. The menu looked fantastic with lots of variety. Prices were about what I would have expected to pay in a pub, but the portion sizes were way bigger. I had to check if I had actually ordered a dish that was to be shared by accident. So much flavour and freshness to the food. Only downside in my opinion was the small choice of beers. They have about 50 different gins and wines, so well catered for there. I had an after dinner cocktail that was really nice and fairly priced in my opinion. Overall, a great night and I will go back. Edit - went back again today and it's still great!

Great location but too much choice on the menu. Can't help but think they reduce and master these items. Service was poor, grumpy rude staff. Atmosphere was harsh. We had two individuals who seemed to take issue to us dining at their local. Some diversity education is needed for this backward place. Wanted it to be be great but staff and other diners ruined it. 😔 edited to reflect the reply. Regarding diversity this was aimed at the other diners not the management or staff. Thankfully I'll never be returning.

Myself and my partner decided to try the white Swan a couple of weeks ago and was greeted with a warm welcome by Jason and the food and service was on point. We went again on Saturday and the service was slow, took ages to get drink and food, had to ask for the table to be cleared. When our mains arrived my salad was filled with leaves of corriandor, absolutely horrendous could not even eat it. Asked them to take away and didn't want it anymore to which they Brought out another salad with the same meat which had coriander all over still. Did not eat this. They charged us full price with no apology over a unedible dinner. £90 we were charged. Will not be returning.

The staff were lovely, the food was nice, the 12.5% service charge we noticed on our receipt afterwards was a deal breaker. I phoned to query it and was told they would see 'what they could sort out' and I would get a call back the next day....I didn't. I phoned again 2 days later and this time spoke to the rude, arrogant, argumentative manager. I ended up swearing at him out of sheer frustration at his attitude. I sincerely hope he treats his staff better than he treats his customers. We should have seen the warning signs from the tone of his responses to anyone who gives any less-than-favourable feedback!

Visited this restaurant on a Sunday lunch for my grandson 10th birthday. Disappointing that a 12.5% surcharge on an already expensive bill but even more disappointed with reaction of management when complained.A manager needing a course of customer care. Arrogant and rude. This surcharge should have been pointed out when we made the booking. Will not return and suggest others avoid.

Absolutely awful and management were so disrespectful…when we came in we heard the way they spoke to their very young staff and it was honestly disgusting... AVOID!!!

Sat outside under the tent, lovely experience. Food was excellent...smoke scallops starter recommended! Picked it by-chance on the way home after a day in London, got lucky!

When Will and Jason send an email and let you know they are doing Breakfast …. my advice is book quickly ! This is by far the best breakfast within a 30 mile radius. Can only give 5 stars would give more if the system allowed !
