I don't go into coffee shops alone. Had 40mins to while away.Saturday early afternoon Good coffee and tea cake. Lovely attentive lady serving.Shame they where out of cheese scones. Nice safe cafe for timid singles.

This is a really nice place with a very cheerful and friendly lady serving. Contrary to some previous reviews I feel that the prices are very reasonable. What prevents it from getting five stars from me is that it does not serve fair trade tea and coffee. I am surprised and disappointed that a cafe run by the Salvation Army fails to do this. Incidentally, it is now called Sally Ann's cafe.

I visit this cafe at least once or twice a week and i am never disappointed. The choice of food is great with daily specials covering many taste palates. Olive branch rivals many cafes in the area with one even situated across the road, but in terms of hospitality atmosphere and food this one wins it for me. Many more visits to come, check out the charity shop too!

I have been visiting this place for the past year, although it is owned by SA i feel that it has well presented staff, food and place. Its not just a cafe, its a place where people of all ages go and and meet, socialise and have some reasonably priced food. TBH due to it being a charity people have the perception that the prices should be cheaper but i can honestly say that the food is priced to reflect the quality so well done olive branch.

The two of us had a prawn and salad filled jacket spud, and shared a pot of tea for two. Would both have preferred an oven baked more crispy spud but apart from that it was great to support such a kind organisation. Great value at just under ten pounds for it all, and much nicer to go here than you're run of the mill "Cost-ta-lots".

Food was expensive, and advertising paid vacancies, so not volunteer run. Food good, lovely clean, but food over priced

No pre packed food here. We went for light bite. I had tea and a cheese and ham sandwich on gluten free bread. It was definitely better than average. The ham was off the bone the bread was bake house. Hubby had two crumpets with cheese on and a millionaire short bread as well as a coke. The bill came to £9.00 . We thought that was quite reasonable. I have heard that they do very good lunches as well. I had a look down the menu and it had a good selection.

Had homemade quiche, salad and chips. Absolutely delicious. The cafe was so busy we sat in the overspill lounge. The new cook/manager Mary is an excellent cook

Cheap and cheerful, staff were friendly and surroundings basic but clean and light - being a wheat freer there was not much on the menu for me unfortunately, but a jacket spud with prawns and salad was well presented and tasty, well priced at £3.20 too. Very popular at lunchtime so get there early, other people were tucking in to a variety of cafe foods with gusto, can't blame them at these prices - try it!

We visited this café/restaurant today for a light lunch and were not disappointed. My husband had the pate with toast and a salad garnish for £2.70 and I had the cheese and onion filled potato skins for £3.70 which we thought was very good value. You have to order the meals at the counter but the food is then brought to your table and we did not have to wait very long for them to appear. The meals were very hot and tasty. Not many places now charge £1 for a pot of tea and it was very good value as we managed to get 2 cups out of each pot. The staff were polite and friendly and we will definitely return again.

The Olive Branch is a traditional cafe run by the Salvation Army providing good food & raises funds at the same time.Located within the Salvation Army Church complex, a simple old fashioned cafe offering simple but great food at great value prices, always on offer are generous slices of delicious home made cakes other menu offerings include traditional breakfasts, salads, jackets potatoes with various fillings, sandwiches, quiche, gammon, puddings etc.Everything is cooked to order & arrives at your table piping hot & fresh, children are well catered for & welcome. My favourite snack is their ham egg & chips, a generous portion with old fashioned dry ham in thick slices for under £4, superb value.I thoroughly recommend this cafe for fast friendly service at great value prices & that feelgood factor of knowing that you are giving something back at the same time.

Do they really vary much? For better or worse, they all look the same to me. This one is on the small side but none the worse for that.
