We were in the area & planned visiting pocklington. We wanted to get a breakfast / brunch there, so I checked reviews and we went with this gem.. On arrival there was a table to the right that took the 4 of us.. we were told to take a seat.. We weren't told how to go on..whether table service etc...so my hubby picked up 2 menus after a little wait..and got up to order and was told they'd come to take our order this was my only thing I felt wasn't great x We ordered 3 full English one with black pudding and the pancakes . And 3 teas and a coffee we lived the presentation of hot drinks . And the breakfasts were well cooked to perfection No small amount if baked beans but a good sized bowl.. one if our party didn't like the toast & found it a bit greasy ..others disagreed Pancakes were the best ! Cooked to perfection.. light..Fluffy Bill was approx Ā£63 and worth it x

I happened upon this wonderful coffee shop by chance, I was cycling in the area and needed calories, I am so glad I found it. The service was excellent the varied choices superb I went for the overnight oats which were delicious. I will always use local independent cafes whenever I am visiting anywhere, I am not a chain regular. The cakes all looked home made as did the all the fare on offer, I spoke to a lovely gentleman who served my food and told him I loved his place. I managed to complete my ride before they closed so popped in for some cake before returning home, suffice to say it was outstanding the carrot cake did not disappoint, it will be my go to now should I return to Ashbourne, I just wish I had it on my doorstep, it is that good. I loved the decor and the ambiance it is a place you feel at home in, which is a difficult quality to acquire in establishments nowadays. The staff and all concerned facilitate this, I so hope this is still here when I next visit.

The friendly, dog-welcoming atmosphere, paired with the thoughtful service like biscuits for your dog, really adds to the charm. The pub's popularity, evident by the booked tables, and the tempting menu make it clear that you'll want to book ahead next time. A classic cozy pub experience, especially with such attention to both customers and their pets!

Friendly, family-run place. Pleasing food. Felt a teeny bit dated - not sure about the radio blaring Radio 2, and a slight pivot towards coffee etc and the addition of a couple of sofas might generate enough local custom to stay open Tues-Thurs. But a good place and good food.

Whilst I cannot fault the quality of the food, the lack of toilet facilities causes me a major problem. Previously when we have visited here we were able to use the toilets belonging to the pub next door. Having mobility problems and on medication , I politely asked if it would be possible to use the staff WC. This was refused and I was told to use the public toilets which were a considerable distance away. It took me a very painful 25 minute walk to go there and back.I am 85 years old, leaning heavily on a walking stick . I feel very disappointed as i have visited this fish shop many times in the past.

Wonderful little hotel, staff are wonderful š very accommodating! Go the extra mile for you all you have to do is ask. Had evening meal and breakfast and both were wonderful! Very reasonable price as well. Hopefully booking alton towers again in October this year š if we do this is the hotel I will be back at without question
