4 of us staying in a nearby cottage called in for an evening meal.We hadn't booked, but we're given a nice table in the small bar, near the woodburner. We ordered from the simple menu, and all enjoyed their chosen meal. The draught beer went down well too. The prices were very resonable, main course probably average £10, that's good There days. There was a nice buzz in the bar, we'd go there again no problem.

Welcoming and friendly service, just the place to enjoy a drink/bite to eat either before or after your walk.

Very cosy and welcoming lounge, comfortable inside seating with some outside seating to the front next to the road and in the alley. I went for a coffee and piece of cake, the lounge is an ongoing project at the moment (toilet refurbishment).

Extremely poor slow service Food took over an HOUR to arrive in our table Ordered a chicken tikka dansak the chicken was NOT chicken tikka had not been marinated in tikka sauce! Also ordered Bombay aloo as a side dish could not believe my eyes the potatoes were the TINNED cheap small round ones!! I mean TINNED potatoes!! It was almost completely tasteless the the sauce was as bland as possible as was also my main dish! And it was not just me as a family we had ordered 4 different main dishes ALL were bland almost tasteless so was not just my dish! When I complained about the lack of service and its duration to serve main meals ( over an hour) Waiter said ‘ that was normal for them’ I also said about being served TINNED potatoes in my aloo , this he would not reply too! I refused to pay for the Bombay aloo! So in summary if you want to wait an age for your main course and then be served with bland almost tasteless TINNED food then don’t say you was not warned!

We got here just after the 12.30 breakfast cut off but they still made us the butties we wanted (only poached eggs not available at that point) The butties all came and were gorgeous. Two of us had the breakfast cob and the fried egg was the most perfect ready to burst yolk I’ve ever seen!

We stopped off after a day out and we couldn't fault our visit. We were greeted as soon as we walked in by a lovely guy, which is always nice as sometimes you don't know what you're supposed to do when you walk into somewhere new! We placed our order with Luke who was very friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. We swiftly received our drinks and cakes, which were so good. So much so we had a second! My sister in law said it was the best coffee she has ever had, therefore I had a taste and had to agree! The whole place was clean, bright, warm and welcoming. The perfect ambience, from the lighting, the music and atmosphere. An overall lovely spot for some afternoon drinks. We will definitely be back!

I have been to this store many times for drink in and take out and been literally marched out as I had my dogs . My other regular costa was dog friendly as long as I ordered and then sat outside . This one eventually served me at the door. Almost every other cafe in Ashbourne allows dogs so why not Costa? I won't use Costa again .

We thought we’d have a hot drink and (hopefully) some gingerbread at the Ashbourne Gingerbread Shop when we visited back in August. Having been asked to take a seat, nobody gave us a second glance for five minutes despite the cafe being relatively quiet, so we decided to leave. We couldn’t see any gingerbread on the counter either. Disappointing.

Lovely comfortable accomodation in a central location. The pub downstairs seems more suited to locals than visitors. The room was comfortable, warm and with extremely good housekeeping.
