Me and my boyfriend came here for a curry and the food was absolutely delicious! One of the best Indian meals I’ve had in a long time!🤩 The staff are so friendly and accommodating!

The worst Indian restaurant I have ever visited. Arrives at 6.15, didn’t get food until 7:45. Food was bland. Only 1 chef was working in the kitchen and service was awful. There weren’t enough staff working and the food was awful. Ordered chicken garlic tikka chicken and it only tasted like plain chicken. AWFUL. Another member of our party ordered korma and it was like water. When we spoke to the staff they were rude. After this conversation, a table behind us left. Server made the comment ‘you made us lose customers, you have to pay full price’. We didn’t make them lose custom, they did because they were so awful! They also totalled the price incorrectly.

We were visiting the area and went here for a meal based on Tripadvisor recommendations . We were not disappointed. We enjoyed the food and the service from Ahmed. I had the Red Chilli Chefs Special and it was a great hot curry . My daughter loved the Seekh Kebab starter. My wife enjoyed the spiced coconut on the pickle tray with her poppadums . We also ordered two kinds of Chicken Tikka, Curry sauce , two kinds of rice and a Nan bread .

We are staying at Rivendale Lodge retreat and found Red Chilli online, we placed our order online for delivery, expecting it to be refused. However, the order was accepted, we received a call to confirm the order and to give us an expected delivery time. We received a further call to confirm the food was on its way. The food tastes amazing and there was plenty. We could not recommend this place enough. The customer service and food is 10/10

Worst curry I ever had swimming in oil, more oil than sauce and nann bread was wet and soggy and burnt onion bhaji like cooked from yesterday. Avoid this place at all cost!!!

Had pickle tray poppadoms, lamb tikka chicken pokora, chicken damask garlic naan and mushroom rice . No alcohol licence but they are happy for you being your own £3 corkage: pickle tray great just missing mint yoghurt . Lamb tikka sparce. Everything else beautiful . Highly recommend

The food was very nice and staff were very friendly the naan bread was the best we have tasted anywhere the portion size we're excellent and the food was very tastie we stopped locally and were recommended the restaurant by the bank bar across the road.

Cracking food, superb service - no complaints!

Was staying locally and went on a Monday night. Food was excellent; Poppadoms, Tardka deal, Mix Veg Bujia, Naans, Tandoori Roti and Mixed kebab starter. With bonus of take your own alcohol. It's a shame we live in Leicester as would return here often. In Leicester the food (no matter where we have been) contains too much masala and too much salt. I am Punjabi and enjoy my spice, but too often the restaurant food goes through me, as a result we only eat out if invited out. Red Chilli was flavourful, spiced just under what I normally have (no bad thing), good portions with large naan and roti. The masala did not linger in me for days after. For a random Monday night, there were a few people eating in, with a busy takeaway.

The single most important thing you want from a restaurant is good food & this is the place for that...I have been several times when in Ashbourne & wouldn't even think of trying anywhere else in the area. Fantastic food, good service in a small, clean environment. Keep hold of that Chef

First class service ,excellent flavoursome meals served at a nice relaxed pace . Bring your own alcohol suits us and keeps the cost down. Nice clean restaurant with a good choice of meals .takeaway service also available.

Superb food, the tandoori chicken starter and mint sauce were excellent. We had pilau rice which was perfectly cooked and lamb masala, which was tender and spicy... not too hot. Polite prompt service. Highly recommended

Had a delivery to callow top holiday park last night. Delivery time was good. Food was fresh and red hot. And all four curry's were delicious. We definitely recommend.

2 hours we were made to wait and when we finally got the order half of it was missing.

Collected a takeaway and it was very good. Friendly service, tasty food, still nice and hot following a 9 mile drive back. We had quite a few vegetarian dishes and liked that they used fresh vegetables instead of cheap, frozen mixed vegetables like so many other Indian restaurants do nowadays. All the dishes we chose were delicious and the food was not at all greasy, another big plus. Would definitely recommend.

We have eaten at this restaurant a few times. The food has always been very good. The fish dishes are excellent. We have also had orders delivered home and have found the food to arrive on time and delicious. Prices are very reasonable. Would definitely recommend.

Four of us friends met up for a meal and we all ordered different foods - Each one was fantastic and very tasty. Great service by Shah and staff will definitely return as well as order for a takeaway. Reasonably priced too - bring your own booze.

Really lovely Christmas Eve curry, great selection of dishes presented nicely. Great service from Shah, we came in quite early so fairly quiet but starting to pick up as we were leaving. Would recommend the dhal and sag paneer!

This was the last straw. 1hr and 10mins just sat waiting for food in a restaurant was not good enough. So we left, because the waiter was trying to say we hadn't waited that long. If you have a wait on food tell people on arrival and they can make an informed choice whether to wait or leave.

Up in this area for a few days and we were recommended red chilli for the local Curry House. We were not disappointed! Rang for a delivery service and spoke to the friendly and helpful staff including the chef who told us about his amazing fresh pilau rice he'd just made. Fast service ensued and my god, perfectly hot and tender chicken dishes arrived like straight out of the kitchen. Highly recommend this place. Well done guys x

The food was absolutely devine...we ordered takeaway to the Ashbourne heights holiday park...it came within 45 mins and was piping hot..the korma was amazing and the vindaloo hit the spot perfectly the rice was just crazy tasty sooo good... next time I fancy camping I'll be ordering again or maybe take a drive to there restaurant.. thanks guys was beautiful

Amazing food great service best Indian in the area !!

From the outside you may easily dismiss this place. Inside the resteraunt looks beautiful, clean and fresh. The staff are very well presented in waistcoats. Most importantly the food was really good. The starters were superb. I very seldomly review but this was worth the time. Shah was the man behind the non alcoholic bar and was very professional! Good luck to them.

Nice Food and good service with reasonable prices

Very disappointed. Onion bhajis were hard and dry. Saag aloo was bland. Chicken passanda was watery and tasteless, and one item from the order was missing, which may have been a good thing in retrospect. The only item we enjoyed was the popadom. We were so looking forward to our first meal from Red Chilli, but it will be the only time we order from there. Treat yourself to a microwave dinner instead.

Nice food, good service and a very good atmosphere

Came here 5 years ago on our last visit to Ashbourne. We were not disappointed on our return visit. Good food, well presented. Service was efficient but then we were the only people in the restaurant. The curries weren’t as hot as we were expecting. Maybe the waiter looked at us and told the kitchen to dial down the spices. Apart from that we had an enjoyable family meal.

Can’t fault the restaurant, which was very clean and well organised. Staff were friendly and efficient. Menu was varied. My gripe ( and is is probably an unfair comparison as the Indian restaurant where I used to live was exceptional) is that the food was a bit bland, lacking any depth of flavour, which is not the same as adding more chilli. Please spice the food up a bit, chef.

Excellent food - Thank You! Travelling up from London I was looking for a good Indian restaurant for the evening to enjoy a meal. Having not visited Ashbourne before I picked the Red Chilli. The restaurant was very clean, cutlery, tables, decor, all shiny, fresh and neatly presented. The food was excellent!! Garlic rice, a Chef's special curry and a couple of popadoms to start. I would give the Red Chilli for food, flavour and service, Five Stars and would recommend and revisit again. Thank you to Kalum too who I believe was helping with the table service and orders. We went for dinner for the first time at this restaurant. We came to Derbyshire for a holiday from Upminster. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. We highly recommend this place to eat and we will definitely come again if we are visiting locally!

We went for trekking in Dovedale on a Sunday and by the time we reached back the starting point, it was 4 PM and we were hungry. We did not find any restaurants near Dovedale. When we verified with a woman in the tea shop, she said about the nearby town Ashbourne. So, we went to Ashbourne searching for the restaurant and we found Red Chilli. Luckily, the restaurant was not closed. It was empty of course, due to the time of the day. There was some misunderstanding initially as our chosen spot was not given as first choice even though the restaurant was empty. But later after asking for the reason, the same spot was provided. We ordered Chicken Biryani, Lamb Biryani, Sheek Kebab and Chicken Tikka Kebab. Sheek Kebab was delicious and Chicken Tikka Kebab was juicy. Biryani was ok. Except for the initial hiccups we had in the place allocation, the food is good.

A great spot and a delicious curry. We live in London and has had multiple curries but this was one of the best once we have had. We had a fish curry and a karaai. You can bring your own drink and there is a shop next door which makes it easy. Ahmed the waiter was lovely and you can customize your dish. Had a very lovely time!

We ordered 16 meals to be delivered to our rental property on a Friday night It arrived on time all packaged well everyone enjoyed their meals we had everything we ordered Would highly recommend and would like to thank them for making such a large delivery

Had a takeaway, I know a reheat when I taste one, I suppose it can be expected on a monday evening though.

The food was good, chosen from a wide-ranging and varied menu. Clearly a popular place for take-aways, and we think that would be preferable. We had booked but there was no table ready for us, though other tables were reserved. We felt that the service was basic, rather than sincere, we like to feel welcomed and well-treated. We were also disappointed by the venue itself, going in via a basic staircase past the facilities, and into a big white spacious but blank dining area that lacked any atmosphere.

The best takeaway we've had in years ....... fantastic !

Ordered our first takeaway from red chilli tonight. Ordered at 5.30. It took an hour and a half to arrive. One of the rices didn't arrive. When I contacted red chilli they said I hadn't ordered the missing item. Not very warm on arrival. Curry was very tasty. Naan bread was like chewing an old boot. Not a sign of the cheese and garlic inside said naan bread as requested. Probably won't be ordering from red chilli again unfortunately. Not worth the money

First time here will definitely come again. Really friendly and chatty waiter. The coconut pickle was different but really nice.

We had a family meal here in December and was greeted with the usual courtesy and friendliness which we always encounter at this restaurant. The food was tasty and generously proportioned. It would benefit from a full bar service, but this doesn't detract too much from the experience.

Hugely disappointed, to call this place the red chilli is blasphemy in the realms of curry. The immense lack of flavour was accompanied by a lack of fresh ingredients. Frozen sweetcorn, green beans and carrots were thrown in, instead of fresh authentic ingredients. The food would be laughable if we hadn’t woken up unwell to top it off. Avoid like the plague unless you enjoy lockless toilets and having food poising.

Read a lot of varying reviews, but did not come out disappointed.. Really really tasty.. My chicken tikka karahi and chapati break were amazing. My partners tikka masala was also really good. We highly recommend.

Booked a table last week (plenty of notice) for yesterday 25.10.22 at 9:30pm. 5 of us going as were in the area on holiday for alton towers. We drove 30 mins from our accomodation to be met with lights off, a closed sign and locked doors...... It was late of course so no where else was open, we had to just get a kebab shop pizza instead of a nice sit down meal as a family.. The fact they were closed wouldn't be an issue at all if they just gave us a call and explained. Heck even a text would've been fine. Such a disgusting first impression, any reputable business would communicate with their customers especially something like this! We had an awful evening scrambling around trying to find something else. Do better.

Excellent flavourful food. Very polite waiter and very accommodating. They served food as we wanted it. Would recommend their fish dishes -they take a bit longer to prepare but worth the wait. Not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for.

Went in for some food, it took forever someone to attend to us, when finally someone did I asked how long will take to make and we're taking out, he spent ages looking for the takeout menu told us to take a seat for 5 minutes, I asked if use the toilet, when finished with the toilet we went back upstairs but no one was to been seen. We decided to leave, as about to open the door for outside l, guy comes running saying you only came to use the toilet isn't it, this isn't McDonald's going on with himself.

Just had a really good dining experience here at Red Chili. I ordered my "go to" curry, of special biryani with Madras sauce and plain naan, it was very good and plenty of it too 👍👍 The wife loved her chicken tikka masala with a keema naan as well, and we had a good chat with the owner too who gave us very good service. Highly recommended Indian restaurant, definitely try it if you are in the area, it is right in the middle of Ashbourne.

Initially I was impressed with this restaurant as the staff were very polite. However the food really was undesirable and I’m a little annoyed that they charged for tikka meat in a curry but gave me plain chicken… we are curry enthusiasts but at the same time not snobby about it (I will even enjoy a Wetherspoons curry when the real deal is not available!). I’m really sorry but this is not a good curry house. It was the blandest dhansak I’ve ever had, and the accompaniments were like jelly! The mint sauce wobbled a bit every time I tried to dip my popadom in! Haha. Sag aloo was made with new potatos which I found really strange and they literally tasted like they’d been plain boiled. Really wouldn’t recommend.

visited midweek to see what it was like and was'nt disappointed. The food was so well cooked and flavoured. Ordered a delivery later on in the week to Ashbourne Heights and again everything was superb. the lamb was tender and flavours were spot on. After trying several other of the restaurants in Ashbourne recently this one was far superior for food quality. Compliments to the Chef

The restaurant does not sell alcohol. Once we were seated we were invited to go to the local shop to buy drinks if we wanted. We declined and just ordered soft drinks or water. We were the only people in the restaurant on a Saturday...

Ordered from here last night after spending the weekend at Callow Top. Food was awful, chicken was dry, had nicer tasting microwave curries. half the order was missing. Wouldn’t recommend!

Not impressed with the food. I had saag paneer which had no flavour whatsoever. Chapatis were as hard as popadoms. Garlic chicken tikka had no flavour apart from in the greasy sauce. Keema naan was as tasty as a plain naan.

Nice staff, perfectly pleasant. The food was alright. Not terrible, not better than average. The decor was boring (see main photo). The chicken tikka in one of the curries wasn't chicken tikka, just breast meat. The bill came to about 50% more than we expected.

Still my favourite Indian restaurant; the main dishes and sides are fantastic. Lamb Rezala with Mushroom Pilau, Keema Naan and a Tarka Dhal side … a winning combination!

Where to start with this takeaway? Poppadoms were fine but the lime pickle was swimming in oil - about half the contents was oil. Main courses. Garlic chilli chicken had one chilli and very little garlic but that was great compared to the Butter Chicken...

Amazing curry! Everything about it from the start right to the point where we left was fantastic! Perfect ratio of meat to sauce! Couldn't finish it but took the rest home to finish tomorrow. Thank you so much!

Great restaurant upstairs. This was our second visit to Red Chilli (first one was late June 2021). The friendly service and great food brought us back. Highly recommend the lamb rogan josh!

Excellent. Visited the Ashbourne area for a holiday and was recommended here and a few other places by park staff, decided to try Red chilli and it didn’t disappoint we was so glad we chose here. Food was brilliant, our server was delightful and chatty recommending others places to go during our stay. Will definitely be returning!

Everything about the food and service was excellent. They are very accommodating when asked to slightly change meals. Presentation was also great and the Mongoose indian beer was also a nice change. Definitely will be returning soon👍👍

I booked a meal for 20 people as we were staying for a long weekend in Ashbourne. I phoned initially and Ahmed was really helpful, returning my calls and agreeing the price for the food to be delivered to our house on the Saturday evening....

Arranged a takeaway the day before, delivered on time in rubbish weather! all correct and tasted lush. Advised us on gluten free dishes and full party of 14 happy!!

Saturday night, the restaurant was pretty much empty. Only 3 tables occupied. It took 1 hour 45 min to recieve food. We sat at 6:15 and it was 7:45 before we ate. There was only 2 of use. And the other 2 tables only contained couples also. No service during this time for more drinks. After about 2 hours of pulling someone and food eventually coming could I get another drink. When food arrived it was just OK, nothing special. When I asked the waiter about sauce when the food arrived he just walked off whilst I was speaking to him. One of the worst services I've recieved. The next table were feeling as frustrated also. It must have be cold in there as everyone at other tables were wearing coats. Definitely will not return and couldn't give more than 1 star sorry.
