Lovely little restaurant. Great food, very friendly staff, great service, and very reasonably priced. Will definitely visit again when back in the area.

A+ Very first class to this beautiful place, I had the most pleasure of having Chicken Rogan Josh, it was absolutely beautiful I more than recomend this warm and inviting restaurant, plus they do takeaway which I am very happy about. If anyone wants to try a wonderful meal please try this place, you will walk away very full and satisfied certainly a credit to the people who run this place 4 +++++ I will certainly eat there again thank you

Went here on my holiday to derbysbire and it was great. The biriani I chose tasted really great and my parents also greatly enjoyed there curries. Shoutout to Saif as well for the on the house popadum and for being an all around great guy. Highly recommend!!!

Had the set price menu good choice Excellent food and portions service by Saif very good he could not do enough for our party of 4. Would highly recommend this restaurant without a doubt

My 69 birthday with friends, early evening meal , good food will go again 😋.I return after going to thornbridge brewery at bakewell great afternoon out , then Finnish at the spice Indian restaurant matlock a great Finnish to the day.

Visited this palce and had a delightful experience. The food was goodl, particularly the mixed grill, which stood out with its perfectly spiced and tender assortment of meats. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving delicious Indian cuisine and grilled.

My party of 7 were very well accommodated. Spice catered for dietary needs and allowed my pet dog to sit inside. The atmosphere was exceptional, it was warm and friendly. Each dish was very well balanced and spice levels were catered for The service was excellent, speed in delivery of the food and politeness from the staff Would highly recommend this dining experience

The worst indian food i have ever had . No flavour , spice , tasteless . My passanda was yellow & my friend’s tasted like a stock cube & tomato passata mixed together . I can’t actually believe this is authentic Indian food , made by indian people . Gutted . Ive lived all over the world & im not a food snob but this was barely palatable .

First of all this restaurant is not an authentic Indian restaurant. The chef doesn’t know how to cook at least one dish properly. Cost of food is very high like 5* restaurants.(6 pieces nuggets cost £13) Behaviour of the staff is pathetic. They tried to serve the dishes which did not ordered. Overall very pathetic experience.

Tasty food, we ordered from the Happy Hour menu which included a great choice of starters, mains, rices, and naan. The portions were a good size and the restaurant was clean and stylish.

My Husband has always loved a good curry, but I have never been a fan, but spice have won me round! Since trying the food here I am now converted and love having a good curry from this place. The food is always lovely, hot, well presented, and value for money. Food is never delivered late and staff are always friendly. We definitely recommend this place. Even if your not a curry lover like I wasn't, Spice will change your mind and you will definitely want to go back.

We had a meal at Spice last Thursday for my birthday: the food was superb, as good as any I get in London in restaurants where mostly Indian people eat. I had garlic chilli paneer and a fabulous dhal. The atmosphere was perfect because, being early, we had the place to ourselves! Excellent, highly recommended!

We enjoyed a lovely meal at Spice this evening and were made very welcome, just a shame there weren’t a few more people there. Personally I would take the red and white ‘Open’ signs out of the windows as I think they make it look rather ‘downmarket’ which it certainly isn’t! 😊

So glad we found this place while visiting Matlock Best Indian ever Rasheed was very friendly and helpful such a happy atmosphere 😊we went back twice in the week 🤗 we love Matlock ☺️❤️

We go to Spice at least twice a month. Every meal has been perfect. We do go to other curry places in the area but the food never reaches the same standard. Definitely recommend.

Pleasant atmosphere, nice food which arrived fairly quickly, not overly spicy (despite the name). Non-intrusive staff, which was good but made getting and paying bill a slow process. Downside - bit stingy with the chicken.

We booked in for the heavily advertised ‘Happy Hour’. Conveniently, we weren’t offered that menu when we arrived… However the meals we did order were very good, service was good and happily they now serve alcohol so you don’t have shuffle in with a carrier bag full of tins. Overall enjoyable meal, but considerably more expensive than intended!

The food was delicious and all the staff gave great service. Nothing was too much trouble and we enjoyed a perfect evening.

This is hands down one of the best Indian meals we have ever had. Lovely staff. We had a great chat with the serving staff and the manager. Visited during a weekend away and so glad we chose this place. My partner is very reluctant to choose different dishes and usually sticks to massala which she does get frustrated with. However the staff explained in detail what they would go for and why. Didn't dissapoint. Thoroughly enjoyed perfectly cooked food and a big portion too. Highly recommended. We will absolutely visit again.

We visited the restaurant on a Sunday evening, there was no one in there so we did think it may not be as good as we're use to, but wow... The food was amazing, the onion bhajis are the best I've ever had, I just wished I lived nearer so this could be my local, 100% recommend this restaurant

Pretty quiet Sunday night, cold outside but friendly service and the food was really good. If want an Indian meal in Matlock then definitely check it out.

Great food reasonable prices plus parking outside. Went early on a wet Monday evening so maybe my 3 stars for atmosphere is a bit unfair. Really enjoyed the food, great flavoured sauces and plenty of protein content. Kingfisher on tap. Two mains, a rice, a dhal, a pint and a half of beer comes in around £48. Went away happy if a bit garlicky!

Had our second takeout from spice it was delicious the best Jalfrezi I've tasted.

We went for a meal here without booking, just walked in and asked if they could fit us in and we were welcomed in there and then. The service was excellent, the young man taking the orders was very polite and professional and the food was delicious. We both had a starter and shared main dishes and we found the bill to be very reasonable for the quality of food we were served. We will definitely make a return visit.

Visited 18/9 while staying in Matlock for a few days. We enjoyed our meal and the staff were very polite and friendly. The decor is lovely and modern. We will add it to our list of places to eat next time we stay in the town.

We regularly get a takeaway from Spice. Onion B’s are amazing and the curries are lovely. The service is also fab. Always delivered with a smile and most recently, we ordered as we were driving back from Eurotunnel and asked them to leave it outside the door, we knew would arrive much later and would need to reheat but they left it is a big insulated bag to help keep it warm and said they would collect the bag the next day. It was still warm. How lovely! Above and beyond! Wonderful restaurant x

Popped in here on a whim and although we didn't have the full works it was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and the place was clean and pleasant. The food though was a super suprise. Some of the best bajis we've ever had, the pilau rice was soft and fluffy and not dry or stodgy, and the Desi Delight with Spinach and Chickpea and Chicken Tikka pieces was outstanding. Brilliant brilliant meal. Will be visiting again.

Yuck, hair found in our takeaway, so disgusting had to throw it all away, made us feel sick. Also ordered a "Pickle Tray" for £2.50 but just got Mango chutney. Very poor

There were 3 of us, we had 3 starters, 3 mains, and a drink each, nan bread x2, rice and poppadoms. This was just under £100, which I thought was expensive. Took what felt like aaages to arrive, but food was tasty.

The takeaway curries here are very tasty indeed, and reasonably priced with ‘happy hour’ offers available. I would highly recommend if you’re on a budget or even if you’re not ! ***Update: July 2023*** Unfortunately Spice have now added not only a ‘Service charge’ but also a ‘Delivery charge’ adding about £6 to the total order… we could order another dish for that price, come on please guys :(

The food was lovely as always. We did find the music a little too loud. The service wasn’t up to the normal standard we have experienced on previous visits. The waiter asked if we were ready for our main when only one of us had finished our starter and started to clear the table. After one of us had finished our main they again started clearing the table when someone was still eating. I wouldn’t recommend the wine.

As good as it gets. Food, drink and standard of service were first class. Not cheap but worth every penny.

Stumbled across this restaurant passing by. Saw the happy hour for £15 which is starter, main course, rice and Naan . Not really expecting much but how wrong I could have been. I've been to a lot of curry houses, and this is definitely one of my favourites. Food tasted so fresh and the staff were so friendly. Would definitely come back if I were in the area again and would definitely recommend.

Ordered a curry for the family for Mother’s Day. The food came in the allocated time but we’re missing two items. We phoned the restaurant to let them know and they said they would get back to us in ten minutes. 30m later we got a phone call asking if we still wanted the missing items. Everyone had eaten except the person waiting for their food. We said it was too late now and the meal was finished and that we would like a refund for the missing items. We were offered extra food and drinks with the missing food but seemed pointless when the meal was over and the person missing their food didn’t want to eat on their own. When stating again that we would like a refund for the missing items we were told that they weren’t authorised to give a refund. Then hung up on us. Shame because the food is good when you get it.

When this place first opened the food was mediocre But the food I was delivered tonight was one of the best Indian takeaways I’ve ever had food delivered hot and fast and tasted fantastic easily on par with the Matlock bath balti which has been the best for years but these days don’t really want to deliver Well done spice restaurant the hot meat Puri was perfect and really tasty The quality of food was excellent and tasted authentic

Stuck in Darwin lodge with no phone signal!!! We were able to book here online, and pay cash on delivery. When the food arrived it was super hot and super delicious. One of the best Indian takeaways we have had. 4 different dishes all 10 out of 10

Had a few take aways and eaten here twice. Ali is always so polite and friendly, I asked for chicken korma madras hot, he explained that the chef wouldn't do that dish but would create a dish that was creamy but also hot ( i don't like tomato based dishes) His team delivered the best curry I have ever tasted that was just perfect. I wouldn't recommend anywhere else, it's just amazing.

Collected food from this restaurant and that was the biggest regret of the day. If you're searching for an Indian food, then definitely this is not the restaurant. Naan were not so good. Food was all sweet and nothing much. Both the curries had the same taste. I'll definitely not try this again.

Shocking, really gone down hill. Order chicken tikka briyani, and keema naan . Collected, got home to find out the keema naan was a peswari. Rang up and they dropped keema naan , but chef wanted evidence as didn't believe I had wrong one. Keema naan tasted like rat? Binned it straight away. chicken biryani had 3 small bits of chicken and wasn't tikka. Seems like this restaurant are trying to cut corners. Worst meal I've had this year , even worse in month of Ramadan.

New decor, some of which is stunning, but there's a glass wall full of running water, really wasted on me! little natural light... And the food wasn't great tbh... And its an unlicensed premise, which we hadn't realised, so had soft drinks, which were ridiculously expensive...

Best Indian I have had in a long time, so good i went back the next evening too. Lots of veggie options and not full of ghee like many Indians are

Looking forward to going again on our next visit to Matlock. The Spice do not serve alcohol but you can take your own or purchase drinks from the bar next door.

Ordered at around 5.30, food came on time but with a main dish, chips and a cheese nann missing. Called and they were going to bring the nann and chips up. Half an hour later they show up with the wrong nann bread and no chips. Called again... They're sending the food up again. Its been an hour and still absolutely nothing. Beyond rediculous and an embarrassment to the restaurant.

Me and my fiancée had a really nice evening tonight at the spice restaurant on dale road Matlock Made to feel really welcome, had a lovely romantic evening with exceptional customer service and amazing food. Was really nice restaurant and good portions very good value for money And we will definitely be visiting again in the future. We are not local but will definitely recommend a visit to any one visiting Matlock. Thank you again for a lovely evening. Also bringing in your own alcohol is great, soft drinks and hot drinks are available. Full 5 stars and worth every penny for a great night out. See you again soon.

had a delivery from there last night, both me and my wife commented it was the best curry we have had from any of the curry houses around here. Everything we had was just top notch. the garlic chilli chicken had plenty of flavour and the chillies were really tasty and just about hot enough (I do like them hot) with plenty of good flavour. We had the best veg biryani I have ever had, and that was for both the rice and the curry sauce. I could have enjoyed that on it's own. Finally the Tarka Dhal side was just superb! first class, and well deserving of a 5 star review.

Visited the spice about 2 weeks a go we didn't made a reservation it was 6 pm ask for a table waiter ask did I make reservations said no even though restaurant was empty anyway we got a table we stayed there for about hour and half in that time no more customers came to dine in the food was excellent specially jalalI chicken but one thing I got to say the service was awful I ask for serviette the waiter didn't know what was serviette we ask for tap water gave us a bottle water and charge us 4.95 for it I shall not visit the spice again because of the bad experience we had its a shame because food was 10 out of 10 but the service was what shall I say 2 out of 10

Why is this place empty on a Sunday evening? Had a fantastic Jalfreizi with loads of chicken in it. Very friendly staff. Come on people of Matlock, support your local businesses. 👍

45 minutes late, cold and didn’t deliver the rice! Told me that if I wait they will deliver the rice in 25 minutes or send me 2 next time I order really poor!
