Ordered a takeaway after picking up a menu from the box outside the restaurant. Delivered within the time estimate by a friendly guy, we all really enjoyed the food. Would definitely use them again.

Ordered take away, Prawn Tandoori, Chicken Biryani and Lamb handi, everything was made fresh and perfectly cooked!

Saturday night takeaway. Disappointing frankly. Food oily and underspiced and underseasoned. Must be the last place in Britain serving that yellow rice with lurid red and green bits that was everywhere in the 1980s. We'll be back in Bakewell for sure but would definitely look for another takeaway next time.

So, so good, we absolutely loved the food and we adore curries. Lots of different flavours from Tamarind dips to spicy rogan josh. The hit was chicken Tikka biriyani 🤗

Stayed at Bakewell for the weekend and thought we would try this place out….id read the mixed reviews & it very nearly put me off but I thought no… let’s make our own mind up. So glad we did! Best Indian meal we’ve had in a long time! We shared onion bhajis (stunning and really creamy) my husband had fish masala and I had garlic mushrooms…wow best thing Iv tasted in ages. I had the lamb tikka masala & my husband had the sizzling meat platter.we shared chips & a garlic naan. Everything was amazing & the staff couldn’t do enough for you. Next time we’re in Bakewell we will definitely be returning. just a shame they don’t do delivery to Sheffield! :-)

Had an incredible experience dining at Raja's. We ordered the chef's favorite Achari Balti (tender savoury, tangy lamb curry) and the Murgh Makhni (a sweet, buttery, indulgent chicken dish in creamy red sauce). On the side we had the Tadka Dal and two mango lassis to wash it all down. The serving sizes were generous, the service speedy and polite and the price extremely reasonable for the high quality of the food. It tastes freshly made and each curry we ordered was distinct and unique in flavour. Would highly recommend checking out Raja's.

How this place has 4.5 ratings is beyond us? My wife and I ordered a takeaway on our recent visit to Bakewell and it’s honestly the worst Indian food we have experienced! The Tika sauce was literally like water with little taste. The vegetables were limp broccoli and tiny green peas and the prawns were so small and a funny colour. We hardly ate any and it ended up in the bin. We wouldn’t normally write a negative review but we both had very bad stomachs in the morning with underlying sickness, not good at all.

We had a takeaway delivered. Delivery good but food swimming in oil and pretty bland. We were on holiday in the area and picked this restaurant as the reviews were good. Very disappointed with the quality. Chilli chicken very bland and swimming in oil. Korma tasty but had the consistency of a very thin soup.

A very decent meal in pleasant surroundings. Food was well cooked with a good level of spicing and balanced flavours. Some interesting specials and a slightly different range in the menu. Service was a little surly in places and we left without a goodbye. Probably the 2nd best of the 3 or 4 Indian restaurants within a 5 mile radius so would recommend if this one is nearest.

No complaint about the food, we always have a good meal. The restaurant is far too bright, and everytime we go we all moan about the noise. Everyone seems to be shouting at each other just to be heard. You couldn't go if you was hard of hearing which is a shame as the food and staff are great.

Lovely meal. Really attentive staff. Had tandoori kebab and chicken tikka with bhuna sauce, peshwari naan and rice. Starters were also delicious. We are not local which is a shame as we would come again.

Best lamb balti we have ever had! Great restaurant in Bakewell if you want a change from a pub 😊 we tried the lamb balti and chicken tikka masala , garlic naan and popodoms. The restaurant was full and they also do take away.

What can I say? Just perfect! The bar is set very high, as we love a good curry. We feel so lucky to live in Bakewell, and to have Raja's on our doorstep. Every time we go, the food and service are faultless! I had the lemon & ginger special tonight, and BOY! Was it SPECIAL! Thanks to all for always giving us perfection. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Amazing food and service. We were visiting Bakewell and wanted a good meal after a long walk in the area. This restaurant had received some mixed reviews, some very good and some very bad. The bad reviews lacked authenticity and so we went along and had the most wonderful evening. The service was beyond criticism, friendly efficient and professional. The advice we received when selecting the dishes was spot on and we had two of the specials of the night which were some of the best Indian food we’ve ever had and we are fussy about what we eat. Delicious. The one comment I would offer is the lighting which is bright and lacks some atmosphere. It did not affect a superb evening. Don’t think twice about eating here it’s brilliant.

Decent food and very good service. The only negative (which they could easily rectify) is that it is so brightly lit that it almost puts you on edge. If they get an electrician to change their main lights to dimmers they will get far more business.

The food was so tasty, even the naan bread was perfect. Staff were lovely too and knowledgeable of the menu.

Staying in Bakewell for the weekend and experienced the most disappointing Indian meal in many years. Service was poor and included asking for salt for our popadoms which was brought during our main and my wife’s plate being taken before she had finished eating her main. My prawn puree was the strangest tasting one I’ve eaten in thirty plus years, looking more like baby food and tasting more like a child’s korma. My main was the chicken tikka Balti, which was tasteless and did not match the description on the menu. The only food highlight was the keema naan, which was nice. The leaflet states this is the “finest Indian in the Peaks” which I find hard to believe. I would not recommend and certainly wouldn’t eat at again.

The best Indian food I've had for a very long time. The dishes were very tasty, with fresh spices, some nicely hot but it's clear the quality of the spices mean it's not a lingering taste, just very fresh and bright. We had a takeaway for 8, and all the dishes were excellent. Vegetables in the dishes were clearly freshly cooked, nice and crisp, and the meat had great flavour too. The staff were all really efficient and friendly too. We're just visiting the area but if we're ever here again we will definitely be calling back here; can't recommend it enough!

First time we visited the Raja, i will say it was a very good choice excellent service staff very polite and friendly and food was brilliant.

Disappointing, the restaurant inside is very brightly lit - bright white lights , not a relaxing experience , felt like we were sat under floodlights, totally lacking in atmosphere for an evening meal, The staff were very friendly and welcoming ! The food was very disappointing, it lacked any flavour, I asked if the garlic chilli chicken was hot ( I like spice ) I was assured it was, however it was absolutely tasteless ! My colleagues dish was one of the house specialties and also lacked any flavour! Two main dishes with rice and naan bread just under £50 honestly was the worst Indian meal I have ever had , bad value for money and tasteless food- disappointing !

Visiting Bakewell for the weekend. From Manchester so no shortage of Indian restaurants. This was one of the best Indian meals I've had and certainly the best Biryani I've ever tasted. (lamb). Good atmosphere and top service.

What a wonderful restaurant. Small and comfortable. The decor is fresh and tasteful. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The service was prompt and the food was exceptional. Onion Bhaji wer the best I have ever eaten. We also had the murgh makhani and Chicken tikka rezala for mains, both of which were tasty. Can be adapted to your taste buds, depending on how spicy you like your curry. Accompanied with what has to be one of the best garlic and coriander naans I have eaten. All in all, a lovely experience. We entered as guests and left as friends. Will definitely return, and highly recommended a visit.

Got a takeaway on 25th August. The meal was very tasty, but hardly any meat in all 3 dishes. I think you need to look at portion size instead of a tub full of sauce

Worst Food I have ever had! When I complained told not to call again!!

This is the worst takeaway I have ever had. Told it would be delivered within the hour. Called after 50 mins and told he had just set off. It took an hour and 10 mins. Even gave driver £2 tip. The onion bhaji was burned and was cold. The popadoms were broken and aldo cold. I have never had a Prawn Puree was a Zcoconut Dish on Soggy Bread with uncooked prawns. The Chicken Tikka Bhslti was ok but cold. I calked to complain and was told I had ordered the wrong starter as the Prawn Puree was a Coconut Dish. No apology for prawns not cooked. Not bothered about Popadoms Cold and Broken ond Happy that I said Balti was ok but cold. Told not to bother ordering again. Bakewell is full of tourist so I think they are not bothered about repeat business. We are locals which I told them but told not to bother to use tgem again. Poor food, TERRIBLE service and Stinking Attitude. Don’t wast your money here!!

We came to Raja’s as a party of 20 ( including 7 children). The staff were accommodating, friendly, helpful and attentive. They paced the food beautifully and didn’t make a single error! The food was delicious. Thanks Rajas!

Ambience is good. Staff is not! Extremely rude behaviour of the receptionist and the server. We were being ignored since we waited for 25 minutes for papadoms! We decided to leave and never return to this place when server left our table mid-conversation! If you are an asian, you are most likely to be treated rudely at this place. This is something which i noticed after coming home and going through the reviews for this place.

Date of Visit: 23/04/2024 - The Chicken Madras (dish on the right) was ***VERY*** hot as expected, but also tasty and moreish all at the same time. My wife’s onion rice was delicious, and she enjoyed her main also (Vegetable Rogan Josh) The plain naan bread was lovely and sweet, as were the onion bhajis, however the chips were quite disappointing and tasted strange; so I must remember to definitely give them a miss when we return. The service was excellent from all the staff, especially the owner who clearly has a strong passion for his successful Bakewell business - Thank you to all the staff :)

Deco and building beautiful But was badly sick really bad tummy pains sick asa dog after the lamb starter and lamb curry. Chicken soup was too spicy even though I asked for medium. Would not recommend go for a pub meal instead PLEASE, save your money and don't get sick either.

We go to Raja's on average about once every couple of months. We've taken friends, family, been on date nights 😍 and one thing you can ALWAYS rely on is consistency. Every time, the food is well presented, delicious and brought directly to the table piping hot. It's so good to have such a great place on our doorstep.

My partner and I are on holiday and ordered from Raja, we love Indian cuisine and this place exceeded our expectations. Great takeaway food, flavoursome, lovely texture and great selection for vegetarians. We would fully recommend this place for food. Thanks so much for finding us as well. :)

EXCEPTIONAL! I understand that this is the only Indian restaurant in the town however the food, service and decor is 2nd to none. If ever in the area again this would be our first port of call

It was a delight to have dinner at Rajas. The dishes were beautiful and the atmosphere hospitable and warm. The meals were sufficient. We were with 3 persons and pleasantly surprised about what we had to pay. We will definitely come again!

Great Restaurant, great selection & service.

Ordered takeaway for a large group of 7 people. Food was ready for collection on time and piping hot. We ordered a real mix of items. Nothing was missed and everything tasted good.

Went to the restaurant and ordered dinner for takeaway. Specially requested them for food for allergy prone 1 year old. This was a good 5-10 min conversation. First they brought the bill and the item for the child was missing. So we added it again and paid for it. When we reached back our hotel with the takeaway, the same item was missing. Let alone professionalism, the least one would expect is for the restaurant to be considerate.

We were a party of four with no reservation but they found a table for us easily in the busy restaurant. Poppadoms were delicious with the four sauces/ toppings that go with them. Onion bhajis and sizzling mushrooms were a treat. The dinner portions were large but absolutely bursting with flavour. The staff were so friendly and not overbearing in the slightest. Five stars and would recommend people to go here.

Booked in at the weekend due to visiting Bakewell. The only indian restraunt in the area? Staff were very attentive and helpful. Menu very varied and very good choices. The food was very good. No complaints from me apart from the atmosphere. Did get better as more people arrived. Recommend a visit when in Bakewell.

Brilliant for families, couples or a get together with friends. All the staff are extremely pleasant and find time to chat and make you feel special whilst maintaining a professional manner. The food is well prepared and well presented and there is plenty of choice, including cold puddings. The restaurant is very clean, cutlery and plates well polished. Highly recommended. Me and my husband had a lovely meal at Rajas Indian Restaurant. The decor was authentic and vibrant, the music really set the scene. The restaurant was spotlessly clean. Our food tasted delicious and my husband says his vindaloo was one of the best he had tasted in a long time. The service was great and the staff were friendly and efficient. A really enjoyable meal out in Bakewell.

We remembered eating at Rajas a few years ago when staying in Bakewell, and decided to visit again. We were not disappointed. There is so much choice on the menu it takes ages to read! I decided on the Arabian Lamb and it was absolutely divine, so tender, and the sauce was gorgeous. My husband had the mixed Biryani and was more than satisfied. The service was excellent, despite being busy with both diners and take-aways, and we were very happy. We would definitely recommend this restaurant, and wish we lived nearer!

Great indian food with exceptionally friendly and helpful servers. Massive poppadoms (so be careful when you order) however the accompanying chutneys were a bit sweet for our liking.

Slop on a plate. The two chicken curries we ordered were absolutely swimming in oil, I had to drain it off before we could even attempt to serve the food. The sides were the same too. Don’t understand why the food needs to be swimming in oil! It was disgusting.

Lovely food and friendly staff. Parking is just over the bridge with a large pay carpark nearby. Reservation is easy to make via the website.

The food is poor, the curry’s are not authentic in any way and the bill was very expensive. The worst curry we’ve ever had.

We had a really lovely meal here. We can particularly recommend the Chicken Tikka Bhuna which was delicious. We’d almost stopped going out for Indian food as supermarket ready meals had gotten so good, but this restaurant reminded us just how good proper Indian food can be.

Popped in for a spontaneous curry with my partner tonight and had one of the nicest tikka masalas I have ever had! Staff were lovely and attentive, will be coming back for definite 😊 thanks for looking after us, especially loved the fact you use a heat stand! Very thoughtful to keep the curry warm xx

We booked a table for 2 at 8 and when we arrived they couldnt find the booking even though we only made it an hour beforehand. They seperated a table of four for us and we ordered a couple of beers which arrived and were slammed down on our table. That was the pattern of service for the rest of our meal. Despite my friend still eating they tried to clear our plates three times. The food was ok although i have never eaten pasander which was pink before. I wouldnt eat there again.

The food was 5/5, we really liked it. They only lost a point for putting everybody together when there was space to seat people apart, so we ended up sitting next to a big loud group of strangers even though there was plenty of space elsewhere. I never really understand why places do that. Definitely worth a visit if you like Indian food.

We dined here last night and really enjoyed it. Onion Baji was very nice as was the Arabian Lamb and Chicken Tika Rezala. The service was efficient and friendly. We found it reasonably priced and would definitely eat there again.

Loved the food and the service here, so much that we came back a second night! The aloo dal was especially delicious. We can also recommend the saag paneer, tarka dal, and garlic naan.

We had a lovely meal at this restaurant. Living just 20 minutes drive away it's our go to Indian restaurant. We have never been disappointed. We always go early evening and order a selection of dishes. Staff are lovely and happy to spend time explaining the dishes when we want to try something new. Reasonable prices for delicious food. Following a days walking my wife and I were looking forward to an Indian meal. We had reserved a table early at 6pm. On arrival, as might be expected, the restaurant was virtually empty. We were shown to a table near the door and till probably used for takeaway pick ups. We asked to sit away from the door to be met with a number of reasons why this was not possible. 9 people were arriving imminently. Of the circa 25 tables all were booked at 6pm despite the booking system showing ready availability. We decided almost immediately to seek out another restaurant with better customer service and as we were walking out the door were offered a good table which had miraculously become available. Following an excellent meal at another restaurant in Bakewell we walked past Raja’s to find it largely empty. Enough said.
