The Shalimar in Derbyshire Dales

First visited the Shalimar Restaurant several years ago, Decided to take my husband for a meal tonight. Really enjoyed it! The food is still the Best and the service is fantastic, very attentive staff and very friendly. Will definitely be back again! Sarah Loomes 😊

Went for a takeaway,really impressed,I ordered a madras chilli and they came with a taster bowl to make sure I was OK with the strength(not asked for)that's customer service.The place was clean and the curries and starters were lovely and good portions,couldn't fault a thing.

A wonderful place to visit if you love a great curry! You get a very warm welcome as you enter the restaurant as the staff are so friendly. Plenty of choice on the menu and the food is delicious! The restaurant itself is very clean and tastefully decorated. Would definitely recommend the Shalimar.

Visited with my uncle to spend the day with him and decided to visit for something to eat. To say the least, incredibly grateful we did. Food was fantastic, 11/10. Highly recommend the chicken korma, peshwari naan and rice but there is a wide variety of other food, which I assume are just as amazing. We were offered poppadoms before the main food, which were lovely too. Dessert was fabulous as well, I recommend the chocolate ice cream with hazelnut The (or at least who I assume) manager was incredibly lovely, very hospitable, polite, nice to speak to and all in all very friendly. Upon finding it was recently my birthday, I was given a card and a £10, which I appreciate hugely and think is an incredible touch. Will definitely be coming back, could not recommend more!!

Every time we leave the Shalimar, we leave full of delicious food, smiles from the warm (often funny!) interactions with all staff, and already looking forward to our next visit knowing that we will get the same experience all over again. Customers are treated as family here.

Good food and service. Can recommend tandoori chicken, naan and rice all good quality, and an interesting selection of desserts as well!

We hadn’t planned to visit but due to our booking being cancelled elsewhere, The Shalimar was recommended to us instead! From the moment we walked in the team were super accommodating, you can tell a huge emphasis is placed not just on the food but also the service provided. 10/10 couldn’t fault either! The food was super tasty and affordable for both my partner and I. Unfortunately we’re not local although don’t live too far away, so we’ll definitely be back once we’re up that way again :)

The Shalimar continues to excel in every way. Been using it since 2018, with visits to the Restaurant or enjoying a Takeaway which they deliver to us as we are local. Staff are friendly and attentive. Food is cooked really well with the Chef more than happy to adjust the spiciness to suit your tastebuds. Easily gets 5/5 from us.

Came here while on holiday from Burnley a town with and surrounded by many Indian restaurants. Can honestly say the food and service here was fantastic. Kids and adults loved it equally. The highlight meal of our holiday. Would happily recommend it to anyone.

I visited this place recently. The atmosphere was good. But the staff were not attentive. Food tasted blunt. The prices were too high. The portions they are serving for the price charging is unacceptable. I feel ripped off.

We knew we were going to have a good meal when the poppadoms arrived - they were some of the best we've tasted! A delicious meal with such friendly service. We were staying in Rowsley for a couple of nights and saw the excellent reviews for the Shalimar - and it certainly didn't disappoint - much deserved praise.

Read on here that someone would walk 10 miles for the chicken madras here, make that 20! It was excellent as was everything else we sampled. Just as good as the food was the service from Ali, the owner and his team. All in all an excellent experience and we are already looking forward to returning. Highly recommended.

Normally the best curry around, ordered 2 curries for delivery tonight and can tell it’s been microwaved, the chicken was dry and the sauce had a layer on top that is notorious from microwave cooking, come on guys this isn’t good considering I paid £28 for it….
