We booked in for a Friday evening as we were staying on the Landal site. There was only one staff member and one staff - so they had only opened a limited number of tables - glad we booked. The menu was limited but the food was lovely and we really enjoyed it - and the lady serving was very friendly and attentive despite being on her own and busy. A lovely setting.

Staying on site at sandybrooks in ashbourne we chose this for dinner on our first evening. We booked for 7pm, this was our first mistake as the restaurant was already full. We were advised there was 1, yes 1, staff member and 1 chef...this didn't bode well. Ordered food at 7.20 from the 1 staff member present, food arrived at 8.15. Food was nice enough, cooked to order (with the exception of the veg which I think had been cooked earlier in the day and was 'warmed up' as it was not very hot. Sadly the experience wasn't great as we couldn't ask for things like sauce, extra napkins, extra drinks etc because the one lady serving was busy elsewhere and you aren't allowed to get up from the table. This could he a fab little eatery but YOU NEED MORE STAFF, and really shouldn't be offering a service without.

We had a table booked for half 7 but when we arrived on time we were told the table wouldn’t be ready for another 20 mins due to other customers arriving late. We were seated 35 mins after our booking time and then our food arrived almost an hour later. The food was nice and staff were friendly but it was disappointing to eat at 9pm considering our table was booked for 7:30.

We had our wedding meal at the Coach House after our ceremony in Ashbourne. From the start of the planning process to when we left last Friday, the staff, the chef and the building exceeded all our expectations. Nothing was too much trouble. The accommodated all of our requests and even decorated the space (which they gave us exclusive use of). The food was absolutely amazing! You gave us a day to remember and we can’t thank you enough!

We were lucky to get a table - probably because we were a little later than the crowd. We had tea here - I ate a tasty lamb meal with gravy (not the sauce they suggested) and my husband had fish and chips. He said the fish was a little small but nice and the chips were freshly cooked. They even had French mustard. We were both impressed - service was good and the bill wasn't too bad.

Visited for Sunday lunch during a stay at Sandybrook. Overpriced (£70+ for one course adults x 2/two course kids x 2, plus drinks) and bang average. Exploiting the captive audience they have at the holiday village. Tried to order takeaway on a separate night at 7.30pm after the kids had gone to bed and we had nothing in, and were told by the laughing waitress on the end of the line that they weren't doing the takeaway menu as the restaurant was busy. This despite advertised hours as Mon-Sat 5pm-8.30pm. So add inconvenient to their list of achievements. If they didn't have the captive audience of holidaymakers they would go out of business in a week.

We came here a couple times during our stay at Sandybrook. Staff would be standing/sitting around chatting but would be helpful when we arrived or needed them. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough 50p’s in the till for us to use the game room much which required 50p pieces a game. We ordered take away one night and had a hideously cooked burger with it being burnt in places and some redness inside. It was like a horrible take away rather than restaurant quality. We didn’t return.

We were staying at Sandybrook, so took advantage of that to book a meal here. The coach house itself is a lovely building, and the ambience was great. There were five of us including a non-eating two-year-old, and we were easily accommodated in the alcove between the main eating area and the entrance. The pew benches were padded and comfortable enough, but a little narrow, making you feel perched rather than seated. The menu was a bit basic, but all the food was beautifully cooked, particularly the lamb, and the steak was absolutely as requested. The portions were very generous. The service throughout was excellent, with helpful, pleasant staff. There was no background muzak, but no wi-fi either. Our bill came to £90 for 4 starters/mains and a drink each, which I thought was good value for money. Overall I think that having a decent restaurant like this on-site was a fabulous bonus to what was already a great autumn break.

After holidaying at other parks where you get the standard “everything deep fried or microwave’d” style eatery, it was sooooo nice to have the Coach House. Fabulous decor and a very warm welcome. They are welcoming to families too, it’s so nice to be able to go somewhere “nice” with children and not feel like you shouldnt be there! We sat in a stable which was a really nice, different setting. The Food, Wine and Gin selection was fantastic and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend to others and when visiting the Peaks again, will definitely return!

Went with slightly low expectations based on the previous recent reviews but we were pleasantly surprised. Visited on a Friday evening, the last night of our holidays. Camembert starter was lovely although could have done with better quality toast and more of it. My husband's steak was delicious as was my fish and chips. The children enjoyed pasta and nuggets and chips. Puddings were very good. Service quick and smiley.

We ate in this restaurant 3 times whilst staying in this lovely holiday park. Our experience each time was variable. First two meals were nice, lamb leg steak was lovely and ribeye steak. I also had very nice pan fried mackerel. On third night I again had pan fried mackerel which had totally different presentation and taste from previous. Was definitely not nearly as nice. I also had goats cheese tart which was tasteless and served with completely dry salad. So very hit and miss. Serving staff appeared to lack experience at times ( had to ask for soup spoon after soup had been served). However all very nice and helpful.

we came to this place after many months driving past, for a Sunday lunch the menu was great a good selection to pick from. The table was sticky and made us all sit right back on the bench style seats so we could not talk comfortably to each other, the cutter was dirty and the washed items smelts like a dirty dishwasher. the gents toilets were dirty and smelly and the towel had run out no blowers. the ladies and disabled toilets were fine. The service was great and the three members of staff were very happy and eager to serves us. 4 of us had Sunday lunch here whilst staying at the park. Despite being a very warm day and the heating being on, the indoor seating was very cool. Service was rather hit and miss, despite there only being a few other customers there. The food itself was generally fine, but the portion sizes were very different for similarly priced dishes - for example, my friend's roast dinner was 50% bigger than my Chicken Supreme (which didn't come with any potatoes or other carb-based side dish). It also took ages to get the bill and the card machine. Given the range of other nearby options, I don't think we'd go back to the Coach House again if we were to go back to the park.

Visited the coach house Ashbourne on 15th March 18 and after reading reviews and looking at the photos I thought it would be a lovely meal...how wrong could I be. We ordered fish and chips and pie and chips. The fish was the smallest portion ever! Served skin side up on refried hard as rock chips. The pie was so salty served with the same terrible chips. Dessert was sticky toffee with sauce, which was just bland. It was one of the worse meals I've had out and I've had a few. I'll not be returning here. The waiting on staff were apologetic and really nice though with the excuse when we complained, that it was a new chef since last year when the photos were took for the website and he uses a different supplier! The chef just looked fed up and like he would rather be anywhere but there. Good luck if you chose to eat here.

We stayed at Sandybrook. Country Park on 9th March 2018 leaving on Monday 12th. The park itself is excellent and the accommodation cannot be faulted, we would definitely stay there again. On the Saturday evening we decided to visit The Coach House Restaurant for a meal with two friends who were also staying on the park. Two of us ordered fish and chips and two ordered the sausage and mash. When the fish arrived it did not resemble any of the pictures on the web site, in fact it looked as though it had just come out of a packet and was obviously frozen. I ate my fish but the other person could not eat hers , she said that the taste was strange. My wife and other friend ordered that sausage and mash . Which contained two tasteless sausages a small portion of mash and what appeared to be frozen vegetables. Not really acceptable for £10.95 for the fish and £10.50 for the sausage and mash. When the waitress came to remove our plates she asked if everything had been alright. We asked if the fish was frozen, she hesitantly replied that it was. She was then told that one of our party had not eaten the fish as it tasted strange. I had eaten mine but all the while felt that the meal was not of an acceptable standard for the prices charged. The waitress walked away after collecting our plates and returned with the bill which we paid in full. All four of us were really disappointed with our meals and will certainly not be eating here again. I have eaten better supermarket meals!

How does a restaurant run out of pate and bread at 6.15 pm on a Saturday night? Because the chef couldn't be bothered to get some? Because someone hadn't checked stocks? We perused the menu an hour before we only to be told the pate starter we had chosen had "sold out" when we ordered at the table. That is was 6.15 on a Saturday night beggars belief. The mains of sea bass fillet were very small making them poor value. If your mission is to disappoint customers you are doing a good job. All the niceties of front of house can't make up for the fundamentals.

The food is delicious and always nicely presented, the staff very friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. As the sole driver, my husband enjoys being able to have a couple of drinks and a good meal before a leisurely stroll back to our lodge. Although open to the public, it is a little way out of town so I don't think it's frequented by many non residents. We ate here three times while staying at Sandybrook Country Park. Staff (particularly one who was there each time) were friendly and welcoming. The food was generally good quality and plentiful. The hot breads for a starter were far too big for one and we wished we hadn't ordered one each as we were full before our mains arrived - it would have been good if staff had mentioned there was enough for two. Also, the 'specials' were the same each day we went so it would have been good to get a bit of variety. Pizzas were huge and tasty, my partner's steak was pronounced 'delicious', fish was in lovely crispy batter and the ice cream was very tasty. Eton Mess for desert was nice but not Eton Mess - no raspberries were in it, just raspberry sauce - tasty but not correct.

We have eaten at the Coach House several times before and have always had really nice meals. However, judging by our recent experience and also some of the latest reviews here, something has gone very wrong. My main course of chicken was very salty indeed (watch your blood pressure!). We were asked if we wanted puddings but not told what was available so we had to ask for the menu. In the event they were very stodgy and we wished we hadn't bothered. They used to do smaller-sized versions of some of the puddings but they have disappeared off the menu. If you want wine by the glass there is a choice of one "house white" and one "house red", with no indication of what they are. Most restaurants and pubs these days have several wines available by the glass so to offer only one is really not up to standard. All this is a great shame as the Coach House is a lovely place to go but after this experience, and particularly as there is no shortage of restaurants in the area, we will not be rushing back.

Popped in on a Sunday evening after walking in the nearby dales. First impressions were good with lots of character and quaint touches. Its an old stable with hayracks still on the walls and flagged floor. The barman/waiter was very polite and attentive and we opted for the 2 course menu at £12.95 per head. Two of us had the roast beef and two the beer battered fish. The roast beef was nice the yorkshire puddings were of a good size. All in all not bad. The two fish meal however were not so good. The batter was crisp but was a bit dark and had burn marks in 2 places and although of a decent size the fish tasted "dry" and was disappointing. Neither diner opted to eat the fish after the first sample bite.To be fair to the chef on making our views known no charge was made for the fish meals, we did not make an alternate selection but left feeling a little disappointed.

Anyway we forgave the presentation. The menu was quite small but with it being a Sunday that's forgivable also.We decided to go for 2 courses, starter and main. I had the prawn cocktail. It was nice and nicely presented.Unfortunately when the main came the fish was awful and very dry and overcooked. The batter was. To be blunt just unbareable. I ended up leaving most of my food. What I did eat left a bad taste in my mouth.Another family member ordered the fish and chips and also found it unbareable and left it.The chef, though somewhat funny about our complaint did offer the fish meals for free but in the end only took two starters off the bill. The next day I was sick. I can only assume it was the bad tasting fish.I really wanted to like the coach house, the environment and decor is lovely, but our experience of the food leaves me to write this bad review. The pictures on their website looked nothing like the meals we got. I don't know if the Sunday chef isn't the main one but we won't be going back to find out.

Having arrived at Sandybrook Holiday Park and settled into our lodge we decided to eat on site at the restaurant, having two younger children 4 and 18 months we decided to eat early actually being the first in the restaurant to be seated. As time passed and having been quickly served drinks and our order been taken we noticed numerous amounts of food heading out of the kitchen for take away. Our daughters kids meal arrived first ample size portion to serve them both with lovely fresh homemade pizza.Next to arrive was our Chicken Supreme which was just fantastic, great sized portion lovely vegetables and mouth watering potatoes finished with a creamy mushroom sauce, a dish not to be disappointed at.All in all this was an excellent meal and far better than just pub grub, it was reasonably priced and we loved ever minute sitting and dining in the old stables I can see now why you have to book for later dining. It's well worth it

We recently stayed at the holiday park where the restaurant is located and were very pleasantly surprised at the quality and value of the meals! Good choices on the menu so something for all of the family. Kids meals were also excellent and came with good portion sizes. Chefs even customised the mild curry into something hotter for one of our party so really great service there too. We actually went to the restaurant 3 times during our week at the holiday park as the restaurant was so handy, so nice, and such great value.

We live local and we was unsure if this place was open to the public or if it was just a holiday park!We called in about 12.45 last Sunday on the off chance, just to see if we was welcome and that they was serving food. On arrival, We got greeted with a smile, ( doesn't happen often nowadays) we was asked if we would like to dine or just have a drink, we decided to dine after a long walk at dove dale. I had the sirloin of beef, it was amazing. Melted in your mouth!! So Nice to have fresh veg. The children had fish fingers, was very surprised when they came out homemade! Proper fish fillet fingers!! Service - excellentFood- superb!!Atmosphere - good! ( I strongly recommend that this place needs advertising, I don't know any where that is nice to eat in the surrounding area, I shall surely be spreading the word of my experience') Thank you for good food and service, we will be back.

Very average and a real shame as the place itself is lovely; probably great for a summer drink either inside or out but the food, in its current state, I would give a miss. Food bland and nothing special. We had a unimaginative pasta dish a sticky toffee pudding offering that would suffice as a doorstep! What we can say is that maybe the place is understaffed?? Congratulations to the young waitress who ran her legs off trying to keep up with the workload! A piece of advice: if you are staying on site, walk down and book as we phoned about 12 times and couldn't get through (probably staffing issue?)

We were staying at Sandybrook in one of the lodges and were thinking about going out for a meal, when a fellow guest recommended the restaurant and all I can say is that we all were glad we gave it a try as it was one of the best meals and service we have ever had.

More than an average but not quite a very good. Lacked atmosphere but probably because we ate early and not many in. Homemade breads were delish and pasta freshly made, nice specials board, worth a visit.

When we arrived for Sunday lunch we walked past the open-plan kitchen en route to our table. I saw the 'chef' brushing oil on some pre-cooked roast potatoes and putting them in the oven. I also saw a large aluminium tray of what looked like irregular slices of brown bread stacked on their side. Later I found out what they were.We all ordered roast dinners: two beef, two lambWithin about 15mins our meals arrived. Each plate had three small roast potatoes (not bad tasting, even though they were re-heated), a modest selection of vegetables, a strange looking Yorkshire pudding (the uniform shape and size suggesting they were frozen), and a single thick slice of meat (about 1cm thick and the size of a slice from a small loaf of bread). So - that's what I saw in the tray in the kitchen: slices of pre-cooked meat, stacked up and awaiting selection, to be warmed up for each order.Aside from the fact I'd normally expect several slices of meat carved from a joint (rather than one slab), this was not in keeping with the 'carvery' experience of roast meat carved fresh from a juicy joint of beef or lamb, recently roasted in an oven. This technique produces dry, flavourless, chewy, and over-cooked meat that is far from the proper roast dinner experience you'd expect for £11 each. By the way, the gravy was almost certainly instant - it had that gloopy texture, and of course there were no big roasting trays to provide real meat juices. There was only one other table occupied at 1.30 on a Sunday, so I can appreciate they didn't want to risk cooking up a selection of large fresh roasting joints; but if they are typically quiet then perhaps they should avoid offering a Sunday roast. The service was good, and quick, but the food just felt like a con.Of course we won't be returning.

Recently visited the Sandybrook lodges & decided to treat ourselves to a take away treat, from the coach house. So glad we did. It was a little expensive, but the quality of the food & the service provided by Kelly, was nothing short of amazing. She entertained my 1yr old son until the food was ready, he loved it (& so did I!), wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

We were staying at a lodge on the Sandybrook park for a new year break so we booked a table for six on New Year's Eve, we were allowed to take our dog into certain areas so that was a bonus. The pub is clean and the staff very friendly and helpfull. We were shown to our table and orders for drinks and food promptly taken, the menu was unpretentious and reasonably priced with just enough choice to suit us all but not that much so as to struggle on what to have, the first course came quickly and was of very good quality , hot and tasty. Second courses much the same, well cooked and good portions, we had quite a wait for puddings but the waitress had prewarned us that they would take a while, no complaints about any of the service but we felt the whole place lacked a little atmosphere for a new year so we went back to our lodge to see in 2015

We was staying at the lodges so we tried the pub because it was my wife's birthday. All the food was lovely and very tasty, the puddings were also nice but bit expensive for what you get but that's puddings. All our party enjoyed it very much, staff were very friendly and helpful. I think if they put on the menu the things on the take away menu for the lodges it would be even better.

Stayed at the lodge which is amazing on our last night (Sunday) we decided to give the coach house a try. Sunday dinner was £11.00 and consisted of 2 slices of meat and 1 frozen small Yorkshire pudding with veg separate and 3 small roast potatoes! The pudding was even worse, sticky toffee pudding with no sauce??? And cold, yes cold custard?!?!? Staff even though friendly didn't have an answer to why or even say sorry.

I had been given a casual recommendation for this restaurant and then checked out the reviews on Trip Adviser and I now feel confident to pass on the advice to go and eat at the Coach House Restaurant near Ashbourne if you happen to be in the area. Very welcoming, helpful staff, child friendly (and dogs welcome too in some areas of the restaurant) and great food, reasonably priced, quickly served, fresh ingredients and well presented. We had a delicious meal in a beautiful setting with great service - highly recommended!

We went along to the Coach House for a family meal without booking, upon arrival although it was really busy the manager made time for us and sat us in the bar area whilst she looked for a table which was fantastic as other restaurants would off just told us that you were full. The restaurant was full but she went out off her way to get us a table sorted for all 10 off us. The food was superb and couldn't fault the service in any way at all! All the staff seemed really happy and polite and the manager (Emma) made time to come and talk to us about the recent refurbishment that has taken place and gave us all more information! Will defiantly be returning to the coach house and maybe this time we will stay in one off the lodges! Massive thank you to the coach house for a wonderful evening!

The staff here are really lovely, they can not do enough for you. They are friendly, and warm hearted a rarity these days. The food is good quality restaurant fare, freshly cooked to order. A good range on the menu, they even do a good take away menu for those staying at the holiday park next door. One really good point to make is that they are really welcoming to doggie visitors. That really took the stress out of bringing our furry family member with us.Thank You Coach House.

My Mother-in-Law owns a cabin at the Sandybrook Holiday Park and so I have attended the Coach House restaurant several times over the years. This used to be a reliable, but not spectacular, "chips with everything" kind of place. However, on our most recent visit, we were impressed by the refurbishment, and bowled over by the impeccable service - our waitress was professional, fun, knowledgable, and unflustered by my 18-month old's many demands! My roast dinner meat was succulent and everything on the plate tasted freshly cooked. My (pregnant) wife asked for a non-menu item and was impressed that the chef was able to improvise and turn out a nice tasting dish.

Visited here on a Sunday lunchtime in July on the strength of tripadvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is housed in a beautifully sympathetically restored old coach house, as per it's name, and provides a lovely setting for just drinks or a meal. There were 3 of us, self, husband and 23 year old daughter and we all highly rated the restaurant's style and decor, ambience, excellent friendly service and food. The food was beautifully cooked and served in a very freshly cooked individual way, as opposed to many chain restaurants, and for a very reasonable cost considering the quality of the meals. We would definitely return when next in the area.

This is a newly refurbished stables that is both stunningly presented and by using the buildings original use to enhance the atmosphere for the diner. Friendly staff, Kelly who met us and made us feel at home right away was a great host and so informative and really great to talk with. The food was lovely and of an exceptional quality and all locally sourced which is always a plus. Home made sausages to die for and portion sizes again on the large size which was fantastic. Only found this outstanding restaurant by chance as we were walking into Ashbourne but what a find. Already booked a return visit and will be staying locally so we can make the most of this lovely atmospheric and friendly restaurant.Book early to avoid being disappointed!

My partner and I have just returned home from having a wonderful meal each at the Coach House. I have never posted a review of any pub/restaurant/hotel before but I had to share our experience tonight! The waitressing staff were very attentive, extremely polite and made us feel very welcome and valued as customers. The recent refurb of the restaurant has really worked wonders and it's a clean, comfortable and exciting build. The food was beautiful, my steak was cooked to absolute perfection and my partners pizza was gorgeous! The accompanying blue cheese sauce I had was out of this world; the best I have ever had. The chef (Dimitri) was very relaxed and friendly and wished us well on our way out (which is rare for a chef...)Overall, if you want top quality service, amazing food and a comfortable, clean restaurant, this is a must!!

Spent 4 nights at the neighbouring Sandybrook Country Club, decided to take our 2 & 4 year old girls for dinner on the first night... and returned each night subsequently! Kelly & chef Dimitri made us so welcome, and accommodated us better than we have ever experienced before as a family in a restaurant, nothing was too much trouble. The food matched the first-class service, and was very reasonably priced. We have been to many restaurants worldwide, but have never been made to feel so welcome before, and thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience as a family. We implore you to visit this restaurant and experience it for yourselves.

Pre-booked as we would be arriving after an 11 hour journey. Unfortunately we were not seated straight away but made to wait in the bar area for 15 mins, not fun with 3 kids under 4. Food was good and kids enjoyed it, had to ask for ketchup on 3 occasions and despite ordering coffee it was forgot about. It wasn't busy only 3-4 other diners ? Re-opening teething problems

What a great little place the Coach House is. Set in a lovely courtyard it's a beautifully converted building, lots of charm and character inside and out. Although the place was undergoing some renovations this never affected our visits there. The staff were fab and couldn't do enough for us, helpful and friendly without being sickeningly so. The food was superb, freshly cooked, tasty and good sized portions. We first visited to sample Sunday lunch, the roast beef was fantastic! and both my boys cleared their plates. The menu has lots to choose from and reasonably priced. Our only disappointment was that they were closed Tuesday and Thursday! Definitely worth a visit or four!!!!

We stayed in the lodges at Sandybrook for an extended family get together - 36 of us aged from 18 months to 87 years young. Many of us ate at the Coach House on each of our three evenings there and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. They had a group menu which they gave us on the Friday evening we arrived and as about 25 of us were eating there that night, we were able to choose from that reduced menu, which still gave plenty of options. There were full meals and lite bites and the service was good and the food great! We ordered from the regular menu on another couple of occasions and it was equally good. The staff were lovely and didn't mind if someone just wanted soup, while others wanted a full 4 course meal. They were also happy to take separate orders for each part of the family, even through we were all in a huge group on the Friday evening, so that each could pay separately. There is a small bar, an indoor kids play area and upstairs a games room with pool tables, which was good fun after dinner. There is also free wifi. We did need to book each day for that evening, which was fine, as the park was quite full even though it was mid October. Should also say that they were quite happy to do take-aways, which was great for those with small kids who needed to get to bed - they even did a take-away of profiteroles and chocolate fudge cake!!Very pleased with Sandybrook as a venue for our family get together and the Coach House was great. No worries about drink driving or taxis - just a walk back up to the lodge!

The food was dreadful and expensive. Can’t say it any plainer. Schnitzel was burnt and poorly presented. Pasted was soggy. The very worst was the waffles which had been microwaved and were solid! Just the two us for a birthday meal with one drink each and it cost £91!
