Did book a table but didn’t really have to as we were there early there were plenty of tables free. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Lovely views and nice and clean restaurant

It was busy when we went but it was bank holiday, so no surprise. But staff were friendly, food was good, a little expensive but good. Place was pet friendly, which was amazing!

Beautiful food, large portions, lovingly presented. I had the beef chilli, my son the pasta and husband the gammon and chips. We all thoroughly enjoyed it.

Booked table - ready when we arrived. No deal in taking and delivering order Stunning view. Food was excellent in all particulars staff were all friendly and efficient. Cost less than £25 per head Grandparents + 2 teenage boys

Worst beef burger I have ever eaten- pink and tasteless. Got my friend to try to check was actually meat. Kids meals were ok. Beautiful views.

Me and my family went there for lunch and had already made a reservation in advance. They asked us if we wanted to sit inside or outside and we were happy with outside seating. We got sat and then came time to order we ordered our food. About 20minutes later our starters came out and we had finished those then they took our dishes back. The food was all home made and good portion sizes but the kids menu options all come with chips on the side this wasn't stated on the menu so we ordered more chips and ended up with extra chips. I got the pasta but it was soft and mushy and the sauce was really watery. The service wasn't the greatest, most of the workers were just walking around not bothered people were waiting for them but there was this one lady called Bethan who was the most hardworking one of them all she was literally running around to do things for people and make sure everyone had what they needed and made our visit just that much better. One thing i was say is that it was quite expensive. But overall wasn't terrible.

The food here was fantastic. Was served by Caitlin. There was an error with the food, but Caitlin fixed it very quickly - great service, friendly and polite. A lovely day in general and a great place to eat.

Excellent food, all obviously home made everyone in our party enjoyed their meals. Our server Caitlen was attentive and made our experience happy and comfortable. The kitchen made on small mistake with our good, however they were quick to correct the mistake. No complaints and excellent food. Would thoroughly recommend the nachos.

Visited today for lunch with my two sons. Staff attentive, beautiful views and yummy food. Decent sized portions for children's meals. Would recommend.

Excellent food, portion atmosphere

Staff efficient and friendly, wide choice of food. We booked a table on the balcony, the view was amazing. Had the chicken Kiev - clearly homemade and very good - and the Caesar Salad which was full of chicken and bacon and really tasty. Would recommend eating here.

Wow ! After a stunning ride on the cable cars to the top we stopped off for Breakfast. One of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Didn't know what to eat first !!!! Brilliant restaurant and gift store.

The view was nice, the person greeting us was nice and professional, the starter was overpriced but tasted ok, we shared a bowl of nachos with three dips, and then a lady serving our food carelessly slammed down the main course with the tomatoes falling on to the table, she didn't apologize, or offer to compensate us in any way, she just walked off and left me to clean up. After finishing most of her drink my wife saw a hair in the bottom of the glass, she ordered beef chili with rice and didn't like the taste so didn't finish it. We paid over forty-five pounds for bad service, tainted drink, average food scattered on the table, and having to do our own cleaning up. I advise people to take their own food and eat outside enjoying the view on one of the many benches.

Took ages to get served and then to get less than mediocre food…

If you want to see what depression looks like served on a plate, then try one of their breakfasts. We ate here this morning - very underwhelming. Fried eggs on toast - the toast was stale with no butter, the eggs totally overcooked so even the yolk wouldn’t soften the bread. Hash brown was okay. For the price they charge you want sauce from a bottle, not sachet. Generally a bleak breakfast. We regret booking here and should have had breakfast in the town as there is plenty of nice places. Having said that - compliments to the staff who were very nice and friendly but none to the chef.

Great views, friendly staff but the food was poor. Vegan burger not very nice at all and the chips very greasy. My son had the regular burger but didn’t finish it - a rare occurrence!

Quite a noisy cafeteria style restaurant. Was also really cold as terrace doors open. Food is quite basic and of variable quality. Tasty beef burgers and curries but vegan burgers and bangers / mash not great. Views were amazing and defo the selling point.

Amazing!! Really set our day off well at the heights of abraham, the view, food and customer service was top tier. We was served by Cerys who was very friendly and welcoming making sure we had everything we needed and was happy. You have to try the sticky toffee pudding!! definitely would recommend visiting!

A good restaurant. However there are usually long queues and significant wait times after ordering and before the food is served. Portion size is relatively small and not proportional to the price charged.

Very pleasant surprise, the truth is that to be inside the tourist attraction and with those beautiful views the first thing that comes to mind is that it is a tourist trap but it was not like that at all. I was surprised by the quality of the food and the very friendly treatment that Sara gave us. Highly recommended. It has a children's changing room in the downstairs area and a small souvenir shop on site.

Falafel, fish and chips were yummy and tasty.

Great views with great food and service. Very clean dining even on the outside balcony where my wife and I enjoyed watching birds of prey in the nearby canopy.

Absolutely discusting Fish ,cost £16 with cheaps and mush pea ,I like cheaps but fish is absolutely watering tasty, and of massive fish there is inside empty. My dother as well not like it,as is watering and not salt at all! I pay £32 for this two and eat only cheaps. Do not buy it ! Yes lady bring me another one fish and thank you so much you probably not gonna eat it by your self .very discusting fish.

Friendly service, tasty and well presented food, good and relaxing view, worth reserving a table by the window or terrace.

Bright airy large restaurant situated inside The Heights of Abraham site. Hot and cold food is served with a licensed bar. Good selection of starters, mains and deserts and all at reasonable prices. There is balcony seating providing excellent views, equally good indoor seating too. Busy periods booking might advisable.

Expensive and poor quality. Badly lets the otherwise good attraction down. Microwaved panini for £7. Hot chocolate from a powder and machine for over £3. Dreadful. Only went as it was raining. Hot chocolate looks like tea. Pretty nasty experience. Barista prices for portaloo quality. To be fair, when I complained they refunded the money for the hot chocolate.

Fantastic Sunday lunch. Steak and ale pie was truly delicious. Cauliflower and chickpea pie was just as good. Service was truly excellent and the staff even brought us a beautifully presented piece of cake when they found out it was a special occasion. Brilliant meal overall.

It is located on top of the hill with very scenic view and airy atmosphere inside and lovely food. Of course very warm and caring staff. It is located within The Heights of Abraham in Matlock

Had a coffee when we arrived in the morning and lunch just before heading back. Food wasn't too bad, decent sized portions and presented well. Staff were polite enough but most seemed to be new so lacked experience (almost placing a hot food near a toddler).

Great service with constant check ups, quick drinks and food and catering towards our dogs with us. - fish and chips was great. - Bland and extremely dry chicken burger. - bland and still dry beef burgers. Would have gone for the panini’s in the cafe next door on second thoughts.

Excellent spot to dine with outdoor sitting area to enjoy the stunning views overlooking the Derwent Valley. For mains, I had the beef and bacon burger, which wasn’t cooked to order. Service was slow. Despite the substandard food, I think this restaurant is well worth a visit for the view alone.

When visiting the Heights of Abraham, we were pleasantly surprised to find the Vista Bar and Restaurant. Considering there is a captive audience, prices were very reasonable, and a good selection of hot and cold food plus both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. It was also lovely to be able to sit on the outside terrace (the weather being good) to take in the wonderful views. A most enjoyable interlude.

I usually don't like to eat in tourist restaurants but I was delighted that we went to the Vista Restaurant at the Hights of Abraham.We had fish and chips which were absolutely lovely. Hot, Good quality, reasonably priced and served by lovely staff with a smile. Looking around at other tables I could see dinners enjoying burgers and other food all seemed to be large portions and good quality.As we had a vegetarian in our party she was delighted with her choice. I spotted at least two veggie choices on the menu.I highly recommend this restaurant when visiting Heights of Abraham.There is also a cafe available on the lower floor.

I had the jacket potato with beans & vegetables and a bowl of carrot soup. It was the only vegetarian option available for lunch. Fortunately they were both good. To my surprise every sandwich and salad available contained meat. As a vegetarian, one expects to be able to eat the salad!Best of all was the view from the seating area (we ate outdoors). Marvelous!

Good gluten free options. Good choices on the other menu. All food hot, well presented and tasty. Service good considering that it was a busy day.

Unbeatable location and the food choice was excellent. The waitress was exceptionally friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. When the food arrived it was even more delicious than expected. Well worth every penny.

We went here today. We had a nice view and the man greeting people at the door was friendly enough. However, that's the end of the positives. Service extremely slow with inadequate staffing levels. You have to order your food at the bar. Waited ages to be served by an unsmiling barman. Then waited over half an hour for a two burgers. I only got the food by going to the bar to remind them we were still waiting. The waitress said the wait was because they had a large table of customers in. That's not my problem. Other customers shouldn't suffer because the staff can't cope. Wouldn't return here, probably better bringing a picnic

Visited Vista restaurant at Heights of Abraham for my 60th birthday day out with friends. Our waiter, Josh, was great. Nothing was too much trouble with our various dietary requirements and constant questions. Had a lovely view from our table by the window.

Make sure to get a table with a view. You need to order at the bar for food. There is not much on the menu. But the food was decent. The only thing I would say is the Cajun chicken burger was dry. It’s needs more of a Cajun sauce instead of rub. The onion rings were really good. The prices are reasonable. The staff were ok. They could be a bit more friendlier. Table service would have been good. There is not a lot of tables so it wouldn’t be hard to implement. For a restaurant at an activity/attraction it wasn’t too bad. A few improvements and would be great.

We popped in here for a quick drink and a snack.Service was excellent.Josh was extremely good at managing the customer flow. He greeted everyone that came in and directed them to the best place. He was very friendly and approachable.We visited on Easter Saturday so it was very busy but it all seemed to run well and customers were happy.Nice and clean too.

Came to the Heights of Abraham on the way home from a holiday in the dales. We waited over an hour for our food, only to be presented with pasta swimming in water and tasteless chilli. While the waitresses were apologetic for the wait, claiming "everyone just came in at once", it wasn't that busy for a lunchtime and it should have been expected. Disappointing and caused us to run over on our parking despite putting plenty of time on the car for an afternoon visit. Bring a picnic rather than use the cafe as the rest of the visit was great!

A warm sunny day in October. Having had the spectacular journey to the Heights of Abraham we were ready for lunch. The food was presented welland there was certainly enough. Couldn't even manage a sweet.

Had tea for 2 and cake. The girls were really friendly and smiling. Good to see these days when all you get is a grunt in some places.

I don’t like to criticise but this was one of the worst meals I’ve ever had the misfortune to set eyes on.

We only had bread and olives and a round of drinks but everything was very good quality and a good price

We ordered the chilli and a burger. Both meals were ok. Average at best. Service was excellent and staff seamed smiley. Chilli was very dry. Burger was flavourless and too overcooked.

This is a lovely location but sadly let down by the standard of food served, tables left uncleared and it was not particularly busy. The say they are dog friendly but the water in the bowl on the terrace had not been changed for a few days as it was green. That said, the staff were friendly but overall not a good experience, would suggest taking a picnic.

It was such a shame to receive such dreadful food at such a lovely place.

Amazing views so a lovely setting for lunch. Initially impressed with the host (tall slim guy) who seated us quickly and very friendly. Menu was good - burgers, salads and good kids menu. Negative was that we waited 45 mins for our food which really cut into our day. There were no apologies or communication about the delayed food we were just left to wait with a bored hungry 3yo. Food was tasty though we enjoyed Caesar salad (although not traditional) and burger. Nice place to visit but speed of food and service needs improvement.

Recently attended a wedding reception here for 15 guests. The Vista team couldn’t have been more helpful or accommodating. They even organised a car for two guests who didn’t want to take the cable car. Half the restaurant was set aside for our exclusive use for the afternoon. Champagne waiting on our arrival and the table was beautiful. The menu was plenty variable for all guests and the food was excellent. Large portions and good quality. They organised a cake and had it iced according to the Groom’s instructions. The waiting on staff were superb - friendly, helpful and unobtrusive. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Two private balconies open, with views to die for. A surreal sense of being away from the madding crowd, up in the trees and near to the sky. Perfect venue for a wedding reception. If you’re planning a small (ish) reception and want something out of the ordinary and magical then I highly recommend you give them a call. You can go up and discuss possibilities with them before to book anything. You wouldn’t be disappointed. :-)

This is an average to slightly above average place to take a meal. The advantages are the awesome view and the fact that they do not overcharge for the food simply because they are essentially a monopoly at the top of the mountain. The fish and chips were myeh. Curry was decent. Selection of beers/ales was okay.

We were lucky as the sun was shining and we sat upstairs in the restaurant with great views. Waitress was lovely and very helpful. Food very good.

We visited the restaurant when at the Heights of Abraham which are great. The restaurant is ok. That is all really I would say. If your visiting and don't have a packed lunch it is ok to visit. The meals are priced average for a theme park. Service is actually good and attentive. I booked but really did not need to. There is also a cafe downstairs whic oh is equally ok.

I am always amazed that I don't take a packed lunch when I take my family for day out. Went to Vista Restaurant with the wife and kids. The food at best was average but the service was terrible. No attention from staff, specials not mentioned, no checkback. Really don't know why we bother

Despite being in a prime tourist spot, were visitors have no other choice of eating place, this is a great little restaurant serving really lovely, reasonably priced meals.

We were the only ones here but it took a while for the drinks to come out. Nice views, but nothing inspired us to want to eat here even though it was lunch time.

First time visit to Heights of Abraham and this restaurant was worth the visit. Stunning views, good menu at reasonable prices. We'll presented by friendly staff.

Good selection of hot and cold drinks and snacks. Also meals in the restaurant. Had ice cream which was very enjoyable in the sunshine.

The restaurant upstairs .....great views, staff ok, but not overly helpful or quick to either seat serve or bring bill.....had an issue with a dish that they then didn't charge us for....ended up going to bar to pay bill.....

One of the highlights of our trip to Derbyshire.. The hights of Abraham is a great afternoon spent.. Beautiful scenery and great food.. There is a cafe downstairs selling cakes and sandwiches etc and upstairs is more formal dining... I have no quibbles re price and quality whatsoever. I enjoyed every morsel of hallumi sandwich followed by beautiful carrot cake. .. Go for the views, relax and take in the gorgeous place that is Derbyshire..

We enjoyed our lunch here looking out over stunning views. Jane and Katie were really friendly and the food was reasonably priced. The chicken burger went down very well. Would eat here again.

The mushroom soup was delicious but the way in which we had to order at the bar inside was somewhat chaotic

To be fair I do feel over all this place deserves a better than average rating as my husband and daughter really enjoyed their orders and the people next to us had something that looked amazing - it is just I did not like mine very much.

My husband, daughter, mum and I went to this restaurant for lunch during our visit to the Heights of Abraham and the service, attention and food we had was second to none! It was fabulous!!! Couldn't ask for more. Worth a trip up the cable car in itself! Plus they catered perfectly for my 6 year old and my gluten free - loads of options

There were eight of us in the party and we all had different. Sophie who served us superb and attended to the gluten free needs of my wife with a great deal of care and attention. The menu is small and the place is great fore a snack...think the restaurant is upstairs.

We had booked a table for afternoon tea for 3pm & arrived early at 1pm. The staff in the Vista Bar were great in pushing our reservation forward and fitting us in early.

Bought a couple of Paninis plus coffees on Saturday last. Both Paninis were microwaved so quite pimp and tasteless. Really unpalatable. Coffees were equally bland with very little coffee.. Really disappointing food considering the look and feel of the place and the price paid

Chicken/Beef Burgers were rather stale and dry, lasagna and garlic bread were good. Prices were not as bad as the usual touristic places. Staff was friendly. View was fantastic.

We sat outside on the balcony and had panoramic views of Matlock Bath and further afield. The weather was perfect and the service from the staff was good, they were Very attentive and friendly.

A lovely restaurant, however the service was slow, the salad came minus the advertised dressing, but the staff were friendly and helpful.
