Great spacious coffee shop with ample seating and staff are all friendly and welcoming too. Good selection of drinks and cakes

Great staff, very friendly, however the outside of the store looks appealing a real let down to the Costa brand, could easily have chosen another coffee shop

Disinterested staff, clean your own table, wait in line, terrible food, dirty, scruffy, badly in need of refurbishment, overpriced, a completely underwhelming experience. I’m not going anymore, there’s loads of alternatives in Ashbourne.

My wife & I were warmly greeted by a very pleasant & chatty young lady who had excellent customer service skills. We decided to visit Costa whilst enjoying a visit to Ashbourne for a coffee & cake. I had a latte with an almond & raspberry slice & my wife had an americano with a piece of chocolate orange cake. The coffee was excellent, hot, smooth & tasty. The cakes were very good, fresh & a reasonable size. The cafe was clean including the toilets & had a nice atmosphere. Would visit again if in Ashbourne.

Untidy. Not too.speedy at clearing tables and invariably if you dont clear them yourself there is nowhere tobsit comfortably.

Once the cafes had reopened I decided to have a visit in Ashbourne for a coffee and a shop around to get out the house, I was very conscious to wear a mask where required and hand sanitise also, all the shops had one way systems and rules in place which where easy to follow. Upon my visit to Costa it was like someone had dropped 100 arrows on the floor going all directions like a game of snakes and ladders on a children's playground!!! I proceeded into the cafe, confused and then got shouted at for not following all the confusing arrows on the floor I honestly wih I had go a photo. The staff member behind the counter then had a go at me again for not standing in the correct place ( I was the only one in the cafe and I was 2m back from the counter) I then shouted my order across the room swiftly paid feeling uncomfortable and left. Such poor service and quite clearly no one had property thought about the process, its not rocket science to show a one way system with some plastic arrows.

Through work myself and Mum got a £5 voucher each to use, We’ve visited previously and enjoyed our experience, but I must say it’s a lot brighter as previously it’s felt quite dark, The staff are welcoming and friendly, We both ordered a number of items and got a voucher with the change to use another time, I brought my 9 month old daughter and she loved the blueberry muffin! Coffee and croissant was very tasty!

Come to this Costa perhaps once a week, whilst the blonde is having her hair done or whatever. Forget the small tables, overpriced drinks or whatever. The problem with this place is the unprofessional staff. They literally treat it like it's their front room. Usually one staff member actually serving, another sat down near the till area, hoping they she won't be required to help out, and usually another sat near the back next to the office door. They are unable to have a conversation at sensible volume, usually they are shouting, bellowing to each other, cackling ... everyone in the place knows their business, what they are doing tonight, seriously unbearable. Can whoever looks after this place from head office please go in there and give them a bloody good shake. Used to be so much different, but the last staff who were actually any good in there went off to start up Bear Coffee - don't blame them ! Would strongly recommend any other coffee shop in Ashbourne, I'm off to Jack Rabbits from now on.

You know what to expect when you visit a Costa. This one is a bit smaller than most and is just a little run down. It’s probably not helped by the row of shops opposite being empty. When I arrived there were a lot of tables uncleared, but this was soon sorted. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

We always visit Costa for our coffee fix, wherever we are!. This was no exception, providing you make sure you ask for it hot, as sometimes it can be served luke-warm. Costas are normally quite busy, on this occasion it was reasonably quiet, so that was a bonus.

The best coffe at Costa can't go wrong only negative feedback is about run down not as lively as your typical Costas. Staff are friendly and beverages about over priced but apart from that keep it up.

Costa is my go to place when i’m need of a meal or even just a drink. the atmosphere is so lovely and the staff never fail to make me feel welcomed, especially the lady with the pink hair. even in the busiest hours, costa is the best place to be. i would recommend to anyone and everyone!

Busy as excepted at this time of year. The service was quick and well organised. The food the same as all Costa Coffee outlets. The drinks where well prepared with attention to detail - cups warmed before serving espresso & coffee etc. The toilets were clean. The staff were friendly - making a fuss of my son.

Not sue the refit has done anything other than create lots of space to walk around in the middle. We found it disappointing and not an encouragement to visit again. Worst of all the staff seem to be in need of a refit in customer care. One staff lady only behind the counter and another sitting at one of the tables shouting to one another. Though we’d gone into a coffee shop not a street market. There are many more shops who are pleased to welcome you.

I’m awfully sorry but I really don’t like the refit. Smaller tables, smaller chairs that are uncomfortable, vast open tracts of space as a result, garish lighting and the ambiance has gone. It’s not a place to linger any more. Is this what Coca Cola bring to Costa Coffee?

A bit fed up of going to our usual place we decided to try Costa, never usually go in these places as I don't drink coffee and tend to think that a "coffee house" will never do tea quite as good. Anyway had a tea, coffee and two ham and cheese toasties. Service was good and had no problems with the food. The state of the room left a lot to be desired though, just felt a bit dirty in there. Think we might try somewhere else next time.

Came here and was served by a lady who was talking on the phone. she completely ignored one item in my order and seemed very uptight when i went to re order it. she explained why she was on the phone but surely she could have got the other lady to serve us.

Walked in one afternoon to get a coffee

This costa is somewhat grubby on the outside but suffers from a kind of age old neglect inside it is beyond doubt timeworn and in need of TLC. Not a place I would recommend to anyone.

Popped in whilst visiting the town. Great brisk service. The place looks a little tired compared to other Costa’s but a great drink was had by all

We went for abit of retail therapy and to my companies yard near by ,we stopped here for a coffee and toasted cheese sandwich which was good we try everywhere to get the best...don't you?Anyway try it out it's ok for us.

The cafe is a bit worn out, staff constantly changes, toilets not always up to standards, but still, the atmosphere and coffee good :-)

Called in on the way through to Derby. Latte with extra shot and shared a blueberry muffin. All very good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very clean and good for people watching. Will go again.

Visited Ashbourne with my otherhalf and this Costa was a nice stop off for lunch - excellent service and valued staff. Would definitely return when we visit again.

We are regulars at various branches of Costa all over the country, and we called in at the Ashbourne branch last weekend for a hot drink to take out for the drive back home to the Midlands.

Llegamos a 12 minutos de le dijeron que no podían servir para llevar el café, ya que tenían "ya cobrado ahora" y no les importa sobre nosotros girando. Estuvimos aquí en un día frío húmedo. Nuestras bebidas y listo a la vez que había pagado por ellos. El personal era cálido y acogedor. Al realizar nuestro pedido, pedí la leche caliente a realizarse extra, fue hecho justo como lo había pedido. Los otros 3 de todos nosotros tuvimos chocolate caliente, eran encantadores. El servidor nos preguntó si nos gustaría y tartas o bocadillos para ir con nuestras bebidas.

Personal amable y encantador, con un gran ambiente en la preciosa ciudad de Ashbourne. Se conserva limpio con las mesas con frecuencia. No me puedo quejar del lugar aparte de. .

Good service, the place was clean although the exterior could be smartened up a bit. Tables were cleared quite quickly which is one of the main things I look for. Ironically I had to clear the table we sat at but to be fair the previous occupants had only just left. Pleasant staff, I will give this a score of 8/10.

It's in an old building on a narrow, very busy street with traffic thundering past just feet away from customers so it's not really a place for a relaxing cup of coffee but it still seems to, generally, be busy so something must be right. We found the staff pleasant and the coffee of the usual standard and there was a good choice of snacks. Some of the tables needed to be cleared and wiped so I presume they were short of staff on that day and it was around mid-day.

Late Friday afternoons do not phase those who serve here. Arriving at 4.30pm, a cheery smile greeted me, coffee exactly as required and able to pay for one cup of such with my card, having no cash on me. No litter or daytime debris could be found around the cafe, not that I was looking for any - just that they could remain smart and welcoming at the end of a long day, and week I expect. Thank you.

Not busy as expected for a Sunday afternoon, but the place was very clean, the staff were friendly, cheerful & helpful, & the coffee was good.

We visit lots of Costa cofee shops & this one was great. Clean,good coffee,pleasant staff but the toilets really let it down.They were the old style,tatty,pipework visible,bit smelly,just in need of total make over!

Often sit with Chai Latte and read the local Ashbourne Telegraph known locally as the 'Stunner'. Never too busy.

Strategically located cafe that is often very busy, reflecting the popularity. Helpful staff and clean environment. Daily papers available to read.

We love Costa coffee shops but this one is squeezed into a small, old building which ends up being dark and a bit depressing. If you sit in the window the heavy traffic only metres away does not make you feel relaxed or want to stay for long. And whoever does the cleaning needs to do it a bit more as coffee/milk stains were everywhere - on the floor, the window and the chairs. Would not go again, especially as we stumbled upon Jack Rabbits Kitchen around the corner :-)

Being from the USA, I tend to find the coffee in England weak, but Costa Coffee is really good. They also do a mean cappuccino. They're all over the country, so it's easy to find a Costa Coffee. Starbucks I can find anywhere, so I like the choice.

What a splendid staff group in this Costa Coffee shop. Always very engaging and pleasant and what a difference a smile makes. We tend to haunt Costa Coffee on Holidays and days off so have racked up quite a few nationwide. This outlet rates up with the top of them. Well done to the staff for making it so good. And your recommendation for an evening meal was spot on...but then you were having a staff night out there. Great team and nicely presented, Wish Costa could give you all gold stars.

Been here a number of times. Generally the coffee and food is okay, pretty much what you'd expect from a chain. The front of the cafe has a much nicer atmosphere that the back, which is next to the toilet and store room. There are a couple of decent staff but others are a bit slow. One shared toilet which isn't awful but never immaculate either. I will visit again but it's for its convenience in the middle of the high street rather than being a particular favourite.

We had a coffee and a mocha there and it was really good. It was comfortable and pleasant and we will definitely go there again when we go to Ashbourne. My daughter had a muffin and said that was very good too!

2 flat whites and a delicious lemon muffin. What could be better . Usual Costa decor and service. Right on high street. Amazed at the size of some of the transport passing by.

Much loved facility in the centre of the town, (newspapers provided) and a relaxing venue to gather your energy levels.Friendly staff.

Cappuccino is the best in town others should go and buy a coffee and watch how it's done,nice place to sit out a saturday morning reading the papers.It's a shame they don't do scones,but I suppose scones in a coffee house does not make sense?

I stumbled across this Costa whilst passing through Ashbourne. There are many coffee shops and cafes in the area but like to use what I know.It's a standard decor Costa with a small range of light bites and one toilet.The reason I give a 5* rating is mainly down to the coffee being perfect temperature and perfect strength (one of the best latte I have had in a long time.) The service was fast, friendly and efficient and I will return on my next visit to Ashbourne.

On my visit today I have to say my Latte and Carrot cake where really great. They staff are all lovely and polite the service was good too. The cafe itself is good but the toilets are a disgrace and let the whole place down. They aren't particularly clean, they smell terrible and could do with a lot of TLC and paint. Such a shame.

Our visit wasn't terrible, but it certainly wasn't anything to write home about. We had a large hot chocolate, a large earl grey, a sausage toastie and a bacon and Brie panini. The customer service was passable. It wasn't very busy but they faffed around a lot, and I was left for about five minutes after ordering and being told the price before being able to pay. After I had paid we were then left for another ten minutes while they finished off another customer's order, before pouring our drinks. Our food took another five minutes or so.The earl grey was only a small size, despite having asked for a large pot (I have received large pots in the past even though there is only one price). The tea took a long time to do anything approaching brewing and was generally a little sad. The hot chocolate was a very good size but a little caustic and 'dry'.The food was passable - the toastie was very nice but the panini was lacking.Would we return? Possibly, but we almost certainly wouldn't eat, and would go for the convenience rather than the service or quality.

Excellent little coffee shop but I am biased because I love Costa coffee. Just on the main street in Ashbourne easy to reach and plenty seating area. You get the usual Costa service which is pretty good and the coffee...well what can I say but we don't drink anything but Costa!

Seemed to be understaffed when I visited, only two people working and tables where not being cleared in good time, customers were having to clear table's. Usual Costa menu, cafe is clean and quite well decorated, but there are better place's to stop at and have a coffee in Ashbourne.

I would like to say that the staff in costa are brill always willing to help I had a problem with the coffee it always gave me indigestion after a few try's of different coffee which they suggested we have found the perfect one always tidy good food and they are great with the kids top marks everyone

My favourite coffee is served up in many different guises, and not just by non Costa Coffee outlets, and not many of them are very pleasant. However, you not only mak the best FW that I've tasted but you are a delight to be served by! Thank you!

I don't like chain cafe's,BUT ,Costa in Ashbourne is not the norm . Good friendly service ,good coffee, and quite clean

quick service and kind staff! All very friendly. I usually don't like chain coffee but I had a cappo which was perfect! I shall be visiting again.

...after great customer service and banter with the staff here I thought I'd recommend it for customer service alone. They also make a good flat white.

Once Costa felt fresh and relaxing, now if feels tired and corporate. Personally I blame the rush to franchise and the Ashbourne shop is a perfect example of this. It feels cold and slightly unloved (especially the toilets). Truly dire decaf coffee and bland tea. On top of this it is far too expensive for the fare served. There are so many better cafes in Ashbourne.

We regularly pop in for a quick drink and snack or a takeaway. It can be busy, but you expect this I believe with Costa. The staff, expecially the manageress have always been pleasant and attentive.

The tables where nearly all cluttered with cups etc while the young lad and girl loaf around the counter chit chatting , playing with their phones and drinking tea. The choc stick I received was hard and discoloured . Toilet facilities not a pretty sight . Very disappointing

Really, really, really enjoyed our visits here! The coffee was fab as always, and the staff are always friendly, welcoming and try to remember how you like your coffee every time! Very pleased indeed!
