Being a local, two of us popped in on the off chance to eat on a Saturday afternoon. It's the first time we have eaten there. The pub itself is lovely and famed for its connections to Princess Diana and the Spencer family. It's very close to Althorp house. I had chicken supreme, which was quite nice, but the amount wasn't great. The other person I was with had fish and chips, the fish was fine but the chips were really bad. They were hard/overcooked or looked like they had been refried. We had soft drinks with it. I wouldn't recommend the food there based on my own experience for the price we paid. Sadly, we won't be eating there again to eat, but we will still visit during the summer months as it has two lovely outside areas with seating.

First visited a while ago and was blown away by this place, hence the return. Still looks lovely, but the food was less than impressive. Steak tough, stringy & certainly not of previous quality. Oven baked jacket potato had thin sallow skin with watery only just cooked fleshand although the topping was tasty, it was conspicuous by its virtual absence. My expectation of an oven baked jacket is a crispy skin, fluffy interior pulled with a reasonably generous helping of filling - this just did not hit the brief. A shout out to the vegetable soup though, that was delicious! Staff member that served us - efficient, if a little abrupt. Good choice of drinks and dog friendly.

Stopped by after a long walk from our village, upon entrance greeted with Sky TV and a pool table in the middle of the room, village elders looked at us like UFOs !! Young lad behind the bar was very good.

We revisited here after having Sunday lunch a couple of months ago (which was terrific) The service was warm friendly and lovely. The food was great. The apple crumble was to die for. We had a lovely time and the chap serving us went out of his way to make it a lovely experience. Really recommend here as that’s the 4th time we have been and everytime it’s been great

Saturday evening spent in front of an open fire with great food. I had the fillet steak which you don’t see on pub menus as much anymore and it was honestly one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The pub wasn’t too busy (likely because of all the firework displays going on), and it had a relaxed atmosphere, exactly what we wanted. My only suggestion would be to update some of their Guiness glasses - mine was 8 years old and a bit worn - but other than that, it was excellent.
