We had a great breakfast today really enjoyed it .Staff very attentive Rebecca Nicole are always friendly enjoy seeing them nothing is to much trouble we visit twice a week Fred's team are the best thankyou

A wonderful selection of breakfasts. Excellent food and service. Will come again. Wheelchair access is good and the staff were very accommodating.

Had a lovely evening meal on Tuesday, we had the bacon chop and pork belly, delicious fabulous service, will definitely return!

Nice outside seating area service for drinks was good haven’t rated the food as we stopped off for a couple of drinks while on a walk

Very disappointed starters were ok, but we then waited an hour for our main meal to come, when we questioned this the server said there were 2 big tables they were serving, I understand there’s an order but we should have been told this when we ordered. When the food did come it was lukewarm Unfortunately we won’t be back

Fab Friday night visit, perfect way to end a week

First and last time here. Service slow waited 40mins for 2 roast dinner and 2 burger they weren't even busy. When the food arrived it was just warm and missing part of the burger. No one asked if everything OK till they cleared the plates and when told it was just warm, they just shrugged there shoulders.

I visited This lovely pub last Monday 7th April with my granddaughter in law and was served by Rebecca- a. Charming girl who saw to our every needs. Food was excellent.

This is my first ever review on a restaurant as I don’t like to be negative, however I feel this needs addressing. Unfortunately visiting here for the first time on 2nd march our family meal was bad from start to finish. Limited food on the menu to choose no steak,pizza, beef, this list went on. No ale or lager on tap. When finally ordering the waitress came back twice to ask us to change our order as the food had been sold. Hour to receive our drinks.we had to go to the bar and ask for them. Food wasn’t great when arrived. Deserts we couldn’t even eat as the brownie was like slush. I have never in my life not been able to eat a desert so that’s saying something. Sticky toffee pudding was hard and me and my husband had two different colour custards. We was there a total of 3 hours waiting for our drinks, mains and deserts. Had to physically go to the bar each time as there was no service. The building is lovely however due to our awful experience we wouldn’t recommend to our friends and family. Overpriced for the quality of food.

Had lunch here recently, it was superb! Food was good and the welcome and service from the team - in particular Michelle was outstanding. Will definitely return when next up that way.

Had a very tasty meal there last Sunday. Good surroundings to meet family and chat. Staff were exceptionally helpful - shoutout for Tom on the bar went over and above to help me use some vouchers I had. Only dropped one star as I would have liked bigger veg portion!

Decided to come here for brunch, it is beautiful inside and staff friendly enough, coffee really good unfortunately food not good at all. Brisket hash - large bowl small portion, lukewarm, brisket tasteless, no colour on potatoes at all and swimming in grease.

Came for a last minute meal on the way home from our day out with our children had the most amazing welcome and service from Michelle the food was fantastic, will definitely be returning as me my partner and the children (who are hard to please) left very satisfied

Nice pub. Very slow service on the busy midweek night we attended, took over an hour for the food to arrive, and when it did, it was overcooked and dry. Disappointing.

Food was massively overpriced. Better chicken at McDonald's and that's saying something. No service so had to order ourselves. Dirty plates left. Zero atmosphere. A lot of dishes not available. Avoid !!!

Very good food, nice atmosphere and quick service

Cold custard! Although this was last August, I really felt I need to say something now to warn people. This was my third bad experience at The Windhover and it was the final straw. I’d planned a birthday meal out with 2 family members and 9 friends on a Sunday. We got served cold chips, cold gravy, cold peas and worst of all cold custard with crumble. One of us had really over cooked dried prawns. Some Items on menu were not available. Very slow service due to Not enough staff although the waitress we had was very good. All in all the waiting staff did their best but the manageress wouldn’t talk to us. They gave us £100 off the bill because we repeatedly brought these issues to light but we still had a terrible time and not one out of 12 of us has gone back.

We booked for a Sunday evening, two people. Upon arrival there were notices on fence posts and the front doors, bar etc that they had no draught beer, larger, cider etc. We ordered two drinks, were shown to a table and given a menu. With limited choiceTh. Ten minutes later when we ordered were told "Sorry, most of the choices are sold out. Of the six Sunday mains, we only have one left. Would have been nice to have been told that when booking by telephone half an hour earlier rather than wasting time and fuel getting there or even when shown to the table. Brampton Halt nearby had a full menu and despite being very busy provided us a great meal.

A shame to have visited. The food was of a good standard but let down by Bing served 5.9% beer when asking for alcohol free. Having to get up to find a member of staff to get sources for our meal (mint sause and mustard Having to ask for a replacement cup as the one provided was dirty / unwashed The staff not seeming to care at each issue

Nice place but has become very expensive. Was hoping for a lunchtime snack but little choice. I used to come here quite often as it was good value. Quite disappointed

Lovely pub and a delicious roast dinner. At times, I missed the personal touch due to ordering by app but that’s just me. Very good if you have a dog too.

Had to wait over 90 minutes for our dinners then one was cold and the over 5 were over cooked and dry. I was unable to cut my pork right through because it was so tough.

Very good food served at a relaxed pace. It was great to be able to take our time and talk without staff standing over us.

Returned this week having tried out The Windhover with my husband first, before going for a meal with friends. We were not disappointed - thus returning! The 2 courses for £20 is excellent value these days, even though I only had one course this visit. The service (with a smile) was quietly and efficiently executed. Special thanks to Rebecca who was very helpful also. Definitely recommended for spacious and pleasant surroundings in a local pub.

Whilst the restaurant had a good atmosphere the food was let down by not being particularly hot. This has been mentioned in other reviews but nothing seems to have been done about improving this.

On a busy Sunday lunchtime food and service was excellent

Rebecca served us with prompt, efficient and charming smile. The lunch menu was perfect for two course menu for my husband at £20.00 which is a steal. I chose comfort food of slow roast beef rib bourguignon which, as Rebecca promised, fell off the bone. A glass of red and a cider rounded the meal for us. Will return!

Went for valentines day meal with my partner at 18.00. First thing the waitress told us before we even sat down was we need the table back at 19.20. Instantly asked what we were drinking before even looking at the menu. Whole evening felt rushed, with the waitress instantly taking plates and literally just wanting us out. Had the chateaubriand which was a sharer main, for it to come in 5 slices (not even amount for a sharer). When asked how the meal was, the waitress was uninterested and dismissed us. Won't be coming back

Very welcoming from the start , was seated and served very efficiently by our server bree , food was excellent and the atmosphere was amazing , hard to find a better countryside pub than the windhover 11/10 definitely be going back

Great location, with loads of parking and a lovely place to meet and eat. Did not book and just turned up. Well looked after by the staff and the food was excellent, i will be back.

Due several unforeseen problems we had not exchanged Christmas gifts with my wife's daughter and son-in-law. We live in north Staffordshire and they live in north London. The Windhover was chosen because it was approximately half way. My wife and I arrived first, we were shown to our table, the waitress saying, Gary booked the table but they haven't arrived yet. It was a nice round table in a window, the table was immaculately clean and had a fresh freesia in the middle, we were asked if we would like to order drinks, which we did and were left to peruse the menu. Drinks were on the table in less than two minutes. We perused the menu which was extensive without being overwhelming. Being older we don’t seem to have big appetites so tend to skip starters and indulge ourselves with a desert. Our two younger guests arrived and ordered drinks and a bottle of tap water which again arrived extremely quickly. By the time we ordered food the restaurant was packed to capacity so we expected a wait. We ordered food, we both had the Sunday roast, beef with all the trimmings. Daughter and son-in-law are both vegetarians, he ordered a veggie main course, she ordered a selection of vegetarian sides which made up her meal, there was no problem ordering these individual dishes and the waitress was most helpful. The Roast beef dinner was one of the best I have ever had, the beef was pink and perfect, the varied selection of roast potatoes and vegetables was excellent and cooked to perfection. It was a large plate of food but I managed it all, my wife shied off towards the end, claiming she needed to save room for a pudding! The two vegetarians cleared their plates, just saying there wasn’t quite enough cheese on the cauliflower cheese dish. We all ordered a desert, unfortunately the waitress had to come back and tell us the my wife’s choice the Chocolate Orange Dome was not available, she changed to the Banoffee Choux Bun and she was more than pleased with it, two of us had Baked Vanilla Cheesecake with a rich berry coulis which was superb, the fourth desert was the Allotment Fruit Crumble and custard, which again was excellent. The ambiance, the service, the staff, the food were all faultless and we would all recommend it, despite a 200 mile round trip we will be returning. The value for money I can only say - from my point of view was perfect - since my son-in-law picked up the bill ! ! ! !

Sunday lunch! We’d heard this was a great option for a Sunday lunch so booked a table a few days beforehand! The pub is picturesque and the menu looked great. I’m veggie and the veggie wellington was excellent, 5 different veggies too! The whole experience was really good, despite being so busy the staff were prompt and friendly. Came for a meal and was not booked, however the gentleman at the bar made sure we got a seat and didn’t leave us waiting. When ordering we were served by Karina, who was very helpful and friendly! Food was also spot on, will be back soon!

Have been to this pub/restaurant quite a few times. The food is very good - nothing extraordinary but very good pub food with a reasonable menu choice. Prices are keen - pitched just about right. Service is good but often constrained by the number of staff they seem to have on . But we have usually been served by the excellent Rebecca . Rebecca is friendly , courteous and very professional and even today (27th January 2025) - Rebecca seemed to be the only person serving at tables - at the same time teaching a trained- she was extremely professional under pressure- the pub was pretty full - and never once lost the smile and willingness to help the customers . We were a table of 6 people and can only say that Rebecca is first class at what she does and a credit to your establishment.

We have been visiting the Windhover since 2017 and have previously had an enjoyable experience each time we have visited. We can only hope that what we experienced today was a one off. Service was slow and when the food did arrive it was cold and we had to send it back. When we did get our food the second time it was hot but unfortunately when the side order arrived it took so long that the food again was cold. One meal refunded as a good will gesture. As a footnote this is the second Vintage Inn we have experienced this kind of service. As an observation we think it is probably down to lack of staff. Note for Vintage Inn Management, your competitors at both locations are providing a better standard of service. Look out, people will probably vote with their feet. We will probably avoid Vintage Inn establishments in the future.

Rib Eye steaks pretty good, service was excellent….only criticism - we were cold 😩 need to invest in heating

We often visit the Windhover restaurant in Northampton. Sometimes two or three times a month. We had a lovely meal yesterday (Monday) then went for lunch today. Brilliant service yesterday Fred the new manager served us very pleasant chap. Today we were served by Rebecca and Nicole. Absolutely fantastic very friendly nothing was too much trouble. Lovely! With the roaring fire the place is busy but cozy and warm. The staff are always lovely. Food was as always tasty and plentiful, could have been slightly hotter but not an issue. We asked for more gravy and it was bought out quickly. We'll be back.

Extremely poor experience here. The manager decided he’d offer a charming welcome to us by.. telling us off for being a little late as soon as we sat down. There was no attempt to welcome us or explain that unfortunately we’d have a shorter period for lunch, because we were behind schedule.. just a big dose of attitude. Set the meal off to a bad atmosphere. No attempt by him to even try and be welcoming whatsoever He also advised he would try and find some space in the bar after the meal to compensate, but didn’t try. He didn’t make any effort whatsoever on this part, and merely relayed to his staff later that he “didn’t promise anything.” So.. why bother to say he’d see what he could do at the start then? The food was tepid and a number of us suffered stomach pains afterwards; the dinner here being the only common factor. The plates were cleared away and bill brought out whilst we were still eating, rushing the elderly members of our party. They were content to collect several hundred £ off us though. What a thoroughly pleasant experience…Pretty shocking on all fronts. Avoid. In addition you can see they have their own staff writing 5 star reviews about THEMSELVES and the management replying to agree.

Great food with a warm friendly atmosphere. I've been to the Windhover a few times now and every time the food is good and the prices are reasonable. Moreover there is a wood fire in the corner and the interior has more of a English pub feel than a lot of places now do.

Lovely building and great potential to be a good spot of food. However, for the price point, the food was not adequate. Our £20.50 Chicken and Vegetable Penang Curry had rice that looked and felt like it had been chemically bonded together, or at least reheated multiple times, along with the dry chicken. Table service didn’t seem a priority for the staff here, as we had to attend the bar to get our drinks and place our food order while it wasn’t that busy. Many tables were covered in old plates and glasses. It is a nice place with great potential, however for the price point it’s not worth it for me.

Christmas family get together on boxing day was ruined by dried up food being served. Apologies offered but still only dried up food available again. Obviously could not cope. We sat down at our table at 3.15pm, food did not arrive until 4.30 Awful!!

Christmas day dinner.. we were looked after by Kelcie who made sure that our meal went without a hitch. The food was cooked to perfection, hot and tasty. Whenever we go there we always feel like we've had a home cooked meal . Windhover is our regular go to for a fantastic Sunday lunch as well. Warm and inviting furnishings with comfy chairs and tables large enough and away from others so you feel like you are in your own home

First time visitor's for both us and our friends.We booked the Festive Menu which was delicious, starters mains and puddings only one issue was vegan sticky toffee pudding not available which unfortunately really disappointed one of the party 😔.Our waitress Kelcie was extremely polite and attentive.Will definitely be returning to try the other menu's. 👍

Very frustrating experience at the Windhover. Asked for a non-alcoholic cocktail which they did not have in stock. Then asked for a glass of wine and was challenged for ID. One of us had ID and one didn't - both nearly 30. They refused to serve the wine, even having read the law that an over age person can buy an over 16 year old a drink with a meal. Server implied that a nearly 30 year old was dating a <16 year old. Pigs in blankets were overcooked and beef was chewy. Overall poor experience, would not recommend.

Group visit. Very enjoyable evening. Food was lovely, presented well, hot and delicious. All Group of friends enjoyed their food. Reece looked after our table, keeping us topped up with whatever drink we wanted. Friendly and chatty . A great Christmas get together had by us all. Fantastic can't fault anything . Had a really lovely lunch to celebrate my husband's birthday today, with our 6 year old and 18 month old, very accommodating for a family. Lovely atmosphere we were sat by the fire and great food will be back, can't remember guys name who mainly served us but he was lovely and helpful thank you ☺️
