The Windhover in Daventry

We had a lovely evening in warm and homely surroundings. Our food was excellent and service was spot on. I have no complaints but would like to suggest you don't veer towards fine dining. Although the presentation is excellent, please maintain the homely feel with decent quality and quantities that satisfy.

As we were in the area we decided to stop by for Lunch, picked a decent spot by the window very light area. We had just starter dishes, water and wine, all very nice. Service was good we will be back.

Very disappointed,ordered bacon chop and was told not available also no sea bass or lamb. On a Friday evening how can you be out of stock of a limited menu,we were not told before we ordered.

The service was slow and unfriendly. The drinks took 20 minutes to arrive and the food 30 minutes which would have been ok as we were told that was the case but when the food did arrive it was stone cold. The waitress did get it replace but this took another 25 minutes and to be honest this was only slightly warmer than the first one. I have visited this pub on numerous occasions but after this visit I will not be returning. The food was not worth the money and the wait for drinks totally unacceptabe. The staff on the previous occasions were friendly, polite and very efficient so if you have changed you team it was a mistake. I would no longer recommend this and to be honest We were just about to leave after waiting again for the food but it was just brought out as we put our coats on to leave. Awful visit.

We came here and the time we waited was ridiculous 12.30 till 2pm and we left without having our main! Shocking

Went here as a party of 5 adults for a Saturday lunch . No complaints and all clean plates . Good food , good atmosphere and great service . The only thing I would say is that they need to fill the very small jugs with custard up to the top and not half way as it didn't go very far . Apart from that grumble the crumble was very tasty .

It's OK, pricey. I had a pepperoni pizza, and there wasn't enough pepperoni for 1 piece per slice. Plus, at £16.00 a pizza, I expected more. My wife had Aubragine whatever, and it was nearly £18.00 was way overpriced. It is normally very good, just not today, shame.

Ordered coffee with cake and they arrived 30 minuted apart, with lipstick on the coffee cup and the wrong cake. I won't be recommending it.

Recommended by family so gave it a try .used the app to book.And had a voucher to use. So the price worked out quite good overall. Found many a bit pricey otherwise .staff were very attentive and food arrived very quickly .hubby had the sea bass and loved it I had the burger.And was all fresh ingredients and quality meat cooked to perfection . Made a nice change service all very good .Will be visiting again thanks

We enjoyed a lovely last minute lunch, the service was great, both Rebecca and Nicole were friendly and efficient, giving us lots of time to choose and making sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere in the restaurant was a perfect, a slight buzz but not too noisy. Food was really lovely too

The Windhover is our regular go to for a fantastic Sunday lunch. Warm and inviting furnishings with comfy chairs and tables large enough to accommodate guests without an issue. Despite always buzzing with lots of people, the seating is arranged in a way to make you feel separate from others so you really feel you are celebrating your way. The food is always a really good standard. Portions are always enough and everything is always clean. The staff cannot do enough to make your visit special.

Lovely atmosphere and plenty of outdoor seating. However, the food I had (beef brisket sandwich & Mac and cheese) was below average. Would go back for a drink in the sunshine but not to eat.

We drive all the way for about 1 hour 30 min to this pub to enjoy Sunday dinner. I do not recommend. Food & service is awful. Food not edible (if you do eat, you'll get sick after, as we all did) & of course they're charging very well for it for only fulfilling their pockets & not carrying for costumers health, hard working money & time. The ones working behind bar, are not very nice, working with the speed of snails, Kind of rude giving attitude like "I am someone of importance here" .. You do as you told... Waiting time, is absolutely 💯 idiotic. And there is more to it about the fire place, but not worth detailing. Just run .. Out there, you can find many other places more nice than this one, where you can go with family to enjoy nice food & good quality time. What a waist of money & time for us. And getting food poisoning after all...

Delicious food for a lunchtime catch up with a friend. Great service.

Lovely lunch time sandwich menu. We had a voucher for £20 off when you spend £40 so it was a tasty inexpensive treat. (£36 for 5 of us) Everyone was happy with their choice. Vegetarian wrap was tasty and the chips were perfectly crispy and fluffy. The beef brisket looked amazing- my 11 year old couldn't finish his so dad had to help out! Teenager 1 had the fish finger roll and teen 2 had the beef brisket. Both teen girls loved the aesthetic and were impressed with the facilities. Dog was welcome indoors and had a free treat. You can sit the other side of the bar if you're not a dog fan. .

A lovely restaurant with a great range of food and drink. The atmosphere just leads to gentle inter conversation. We were looked after by Jack (on his very first day) and he kept to the professional standards required. He served us with warmth and a smile. Well done Jack. We went to the Windhover on mother's day and were extremely impressed with the way that the restaurant was run. On arrival we were dealt with very quickly and shown to our table, shortly after we were asked what drinks we required, which were delivered to the table soon after. Our order for dinner was taken and we were impressed with the starter, mushrooms in sauce on a slice of thick bread, and main course, roast turkey vegetables and all the trimmings, arriving promptly even though the restaurant was very busy. The food was well presented on hot plates, delicious and value for money. For deserts we chose the apple crumble and coffee mini desert, which were very good, again served in hot turins. After the meal the bill was promptly bought to the table and we were pleasantly surprised at the final cost of the meal. All the staff were courteous friendly and attentive. We will certainly be recommending and returning in the future.

Have driven past The Windhover many times and thought how nice it looks, finally got round to trying it and certainly wasn't disappointed. Happy to say we had a lovely meal, the food was excellent and the staff were friendly and efficient. Couldn't fault the place and will definitely visit again.

It’s not the cheapest place but you really do get what you pay for & a great place to go for some really tasty pub food. Loads of parking at the back. Would definitely recommend trying this place.

I love The Windover it's a lovely place for drinks and food, whether it's the bar food or in the restaurant. The atmosphere is wonderful. Our server Rebecca in the restaurant this morning for mothers day breakfast was brilliant. She was friendly and polite, we did not have to wait to be served and got our drinks and food quickly and the food was lovely.

The windhover is lovely and you feel very well looked after throughout. We came for sunday lunch and the meals were beautiful. really good vegetarian option and the turkey was great. food absolutely worth the price. Rebecca was very helpful and attentive and we even got a sweet treat with our after lunch coffee! Will definitely be back again

The Staff were very attentive and friendly from our arrival to their warm goodbyes as we left. Service was prompt throughout. Superb, well cooked meals. Drinks were rather expensive. We will certainly visit again in the future.

Sunday lunch was acceptable, unfortunately the heating wasn’t working and we were cold. Busy Sunday and attentive staff, it’s standard in these multiples, reliable and predictable!

This establishment has improved since our last visit a couple of years ago (not the best on that occasion) Cosy and comfortable after our chilly walk Service was a bit on the slow side but pleasant enough and although the menu is not particularly comprehensive we were happy with our choice and enjoyed our meals which were well cooked and presented It is a bit overpriced but had a voucher which brought the cost down so overall good value too

Waited ages for food to come when it did mine didn't arrive until 20 mins later . My daughter's sauce for steak was cold when arrived . My grandsons food looked like it was just tipped on a plate

Our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised. It was really busy but the staff coped very well. We didn’t have to wait too long to be served and the meals were excellent. We had the Sunday roast trio, which was all cooked to perfection.

Our post-tennis tradition of supper at the windhover found its sweet spot, served up by the dynamic ladies double pairing of Daisy-Mae and Alice, Niamh, Hugo. This dynamic foursome aced our experience. We ate fish and chips and lamb skewers, each dish a grand slam of flavour. Match point was "puddings" served with lashings of custard - What's not to like? Some say Daisy-Mae we say Daisy-does. The Tennis team

We come every Monday evening, we are always served by Daisy, she is the most attentive and helpful waitress, it is always a pleasant visit. Varied menu and good quality food. I had sea bass with prawns in a white wine sauce and it beautiful. We were a large group so we had to order in advance. We were all served the correct orders at the same time and our food was hot! The staff were helpful and friendly, looking after us well.

Poor customer service , no one asked how the food was and to be honest it was bland , a lot of money for poor quality . Had to clear our own tables , shame because it’s in a lovely environment but that’s as far as it goes .

We had a great time at The Windhover with perfect service from Rebecca and Nicole who couldn’t do enough to make our afternoon a happy one. The food/menu is better than a lot of places I’ve been recently. We enjoyed a broad menu, well cooked food served hot to the table. Nice deserts too. I love the offer of Mini Deserts and a hot drink as a full desert for me is too much and I need the caffeine!
