Spread across a big area in Daventry, this hotel is easy to find with plenty of parking spaces. The reception area is very spacious with friendly staff. The rooms were reasonably spacious, and bathrooms clean. There is a good bar and dining area in the ground floor. We attended a function in the banquet hall, which was great too! There is also a leisure centre with a small pool and a gym. The breakfast was very good. Overall, we enjoyed the stay there.

The hotel is very old and tired, in places the carpets were stained and dirty and the mattresses/pillows were awful. It wasn’t worth complaining as we got to our room at 12am after being at a wedding all afternoon and were only staying 1 night, but quality of bed meant a poor nights sleep. Overall not worth the premium price paid for a hotel in this location.

Unfortunately, today we had a very unpleasant experience at the Mercure Hotel Daventry UK. The disgraceful approach of the hotel staff resulted not only in a financial loss but also in a shameful humiliation in front of other visitors. Not to mention how harmful it was for the well-being of my son, who has special needs. In two words, despite having a scheduled swim lessons with the company which rents the lane in the pool we were rejected to enter the pool because it had reached maximum capacity. We were still not allowed in, even when the instructor arrived. To sort the situation out I tried to contact the help line or administrator of the hotel, but it appeared that there are no contact details or any request form on the official website of the Hotel. Therefore, to leave this review is the only way to reach out the hotel administration regarding the discriminatory actions of the staff. I would appreciate it if the hotel representative could come back to this review and provide me with contact details, such as email, where I can raise an official complaint with all the details of the situation occurred. Many thanks, Anna

Stayed here 2 nights on a work trip, walls are paper thin so heard guests all night coughing constantly. Told reception the next morning to be told there's nothing they can do and there leaving anyway. Next night same again with addition of them being drunk and throwing up. To top it off where I was on the corridor which was right next to the main door which other guests were coming through constantly. Wouldn't be an issue if the doors didn't smash all the time, the place needs a big refurb/modernising. You also need to think about returning guests, I've been here a few times and never had this experience on the other side of the hotel, I will no longer be returning after this.

In general a lovely stay in the hotel, when we arrived the women on the front desk was lovely and made us feel welcomed and excited for our stay, using the pool was a good addition although when we went in the women on the desk by the pool did not mention that we could only use our pool voucher once and not go back in again so we didn’t get to use the facilities for as long as we would have if we had known on addition the two women one blonde one with dark hair were quite unprofessional in their tone with how they spoke to us as paying customers. The stay was very nice until the morning we was disappointed to be awoken by two men outside cutting the hedges with an electric trimmer at 9am which was extremely loud and wasn’t the best start to the morning.

Probably the worst stay I had in a long time. Room was nice and clean, staff was super friendly, even organised access to a microwave for me to sterilise bottles in for my baby. Breakfast, for the price you pay, was mediocre at best. Now I understand that the hotel has limited possibilities when it comes to their guests but someone in the planning department must have had a field day. There was an event going on and it felt like the entirety of the guests from that event stayed on our corridor. Till well past 1am we were blessed with people loudly talking, kids running and shouting followed by loud noises from inside the rooms, including what sounded like construction noise at 3am. We spoke to the front desk and they offered to look for a different room but I had overheard a conversation earlier knowing the Hotel was fully booked that day and I wasn't willibg to just drag my baby out of her cot hours after we put her to bed no matter how often she stirred due to other guests inability to use door handles or respect for other guests in the same hotel. It might have been better to simply send someone up to kindly remind everyone being respectful of one another and keeping the noise levels to an absolute minimum considering the time of night. But, I guess I'm asking for too much and considering there was only one person at the reception, I am sure they would have not had enough staff to do so. I'm not gonna start about the drum circle that started at 9am. So if you want to stay there, nice rooms and staff was absolutely amazing, breakfast is overpriced and if there is a function or an event going on, avoid this place like the plague, unless you like to be sleep deprived that is.

I'm sorry to be leaving a negative review when the rooms were clean and staff very pleasant but it's hard to avoid that my abiding memory of the weekend was constantly having to go to reception to get my keys (bedroom and conference room) recharged, sometimes within minutes of a previous charge. It was nothing to do with being too close to a phone; a key which got me into my bedroom and stayed on the cabinet whilst my phone charged by the bed had demagnetised when I checked it upon heading for breakfast the following morning. It's really not good enough; I ended up switching to shorts (in February!) because I was overheating from constant trips to and from reception between returning to my room after breakfast to brush my teeth (recharge required, even though I'd only just recharged it when heading into breakfast and had no phone on me) and trying to open the door to our conference room (recharge required). Once I'd hit five recharges on the Saturday morning I stopped counting. Irrespective of anything positive, the abiding memory of the stay is that there is a non-functional system for your keys. That shouldn't be news to the hotel, and I wasn't the only person living the same experience; it's bad for frustrated customers, and the poor staff members who get the repeat visits.

The gent who was part server and part order taker made sure we had the right food and drinks - he corrected the mistakes from the kitchen - total enjoyed his job . What a pleasant change/ Everything else as should have been. UPDATE - this experience is being spoilt by a web based booking and food ordering solution - here is a prime example of finance and marketing driving out cost and putting in a complex self service offering. This is a rural pub where it seems a key part of the audience would not rate as technology competent. And if you pick the phone up you have an offered booking system,....Plus you are now paying a deposit before you actually go. Complex menus and poor navigation is destroying customer value - wont be returning after 2024 SPOILING a great pub and great staff . Like many organisations treating us in a transaction avoiding speaking to people. Such an unnecessary shame.

As locals we have eaten here a few times now and always have lovely food and excellent service. Pie night last week was fab and the fish and chips is delicious. Sunday lunch is a real treat. 😋 We look forward to many more yummy meals and entertaining evenings watching live bands. Keep up the great work. We’re lucky to have you.
