Experience itself was very good food was good staff was good only problem I have is I changed my book in for more people to join us it said it was confirmed but when I arrived the other people arrived too but had to leave because the booking was not changed as requested and I was not informed it was not successful.

Awful experience, a lot of the menu not available on a Saturday of all days & no mention of delays of food coming out. Took nearly 2 hours from ordering, when food comes out chips were rubbish on one order. On the hunters chicken instead of a chicken breast was what looked like a frozen breaded chicken covered in tomato puree. The pie ordered come out with veg that looked cremated, would chuck it the bin at home along with congealed gravy. Out of the group, three had stomach aches through the evening/night. This is a place charging higher than average pub grub, never again.

Great food, great staff.Unfortunately we were seated right next to a very large window, with no openings or any protection from the very strong incoming sun.We immediately asked to be moved but were told this was not possible, even though for the duration of our visit we saw many unoccupied tables that we could have used.I have had skin cancer in the past and am not supposed to expose my skin to direct sunlight and so unfortunately this spoilt an otherwise lovely Mothers day, as we were forced to leave much quicker than we would have liked

Ordered food on the app in two separate orders. The first meal came quick. The other two meals did not. One plate came 40 minutes later and as I'm typing this I'm still waiting for my meal. It's been an hour now since we ordered. When speaking to the staff they did not seem to care and felt like they were trying to state that I was being impatient. Very very disappointed. (Follow up.... Just received my dinner a total of 1 hour and 40 minutes later)

The food was horrendous today. I understand new chefs and Mother’s Day weekend, but how can you get the food so wrong. Hunters chicken with bbq sauce and salad, it came with tomato purée all over it, no BBQ sauce in site, no salad at all. Was horrendous, who the heck puts tomato purée on hunters chicken, when the menu clearly states BBQ sauce and salad. Then to top it off it was hour and half wait for the food, no one mentioned this or they clearly forgot about us, so the other meal had clearly been microwave to reheat. Was meant to be minted lamb and pie duo. The pie was the size of a spoon and with no filling, then the lamb had been reheated to the point it was chewy, so the dog ate it. The roasties were frozen chips and there was no kale/seasoned veg. What an awful meal. The management clearly is doing something wrong, who puts 1 lad struggling to man the bar alone on one of the busiest weekends too, he was getting all the stick from customers which was not fair on him and the management was no where in site. Hence why we never complained to the bar man as he was struggling enough.

Ok pub - ordered bar snacks - slow to arrive and not great.

Visited yesterday for a birthday meal - what an awful experience! We waited 5 minutes to just be seated - only 1 poor lady looking after every table in the restaurant! The food was delivered extremely quickly (before our drinks arrived...) to say I was disappointed with the lamb rump was an understatement. The veg was over cooked, didn't look fresh at all, the mini pie was rock hard and contained barely any filling. What should have been the "star of the plate" was vile scraps of extremely fatty lamb thrown on top of the potato squares. I am certainly not someone who would complain quickly but this dish was a disgrace. So much so, that I would urge you to remove it from your menu in an effort to save your reputation. We also requested mint sauce to enhance the lamb - this was never delivered to the table.

Not many bar snacks, a lot of pumps were off, short staffed so the wait was long and I was the only one at the bar!

Took 30 minutes for someone to take our drinks and food order and the restaurant was not busy we were the only people in the restaurant area. Very poor quality steak overcooked food in general. Overpriced would not recommend

Food was very good including three adult mains and a child’s meal of fish gougons which the 8 yr old girl in our party declared to be the tastiest fish she had ever had! Sadly the service let them down. When we sat down we were told it was full table service but apart from the initial taking of our food order and first drinks we were not approached at all to ask if we wanted more drinks or any desserts (which we did) until we managed to attract the attention of a waiter passing behind our table. Additionally no one came to clear away our dirty plates etc after we finished our mains which was disappointing. I have given four stars because of the good food but if there was a separate scores for food and service, the food would have been a five but the service only a two. It wasn’t busy when we were there so there really isn’t any reason why it was so poor.

Beautiful place to enjoy a drink while you watch the canal boats go past. Unfortunately the food was microwaved to almost non existence. Typical pub food to an average standard. Watered down Pepsi. Unfortunately wouldn't eat there again.

Don’t order Lamb Rump as usual chunk of meat with mint sauce not served. Teo small slices received that should have been sent back! Also wines overpriced

I have been to the Boathouse alot over the years but this was the most disappointing visit I have had. It seem that the place is under new management and has new staff. The food was a 6/10 at best. The service was fine as poor girl on bar was on her second shift with little to no support but she was truly the best thing about the visit. I was also truly unimpressed that they have taken the dog menu away aswell as this is the main reason we visit is so we can treat our dog to dinner. They need to bring this back.

I would say the food is more of the pricey side, but it cancels it out with the food being very enjoyable to eat. It costs around 20 pounds per person, including a drink. I must comment that the wait time was too long, I waited an hour and 10 minutes for my meal while the restaurant was relative unbusy. The waitress we had was kind and polite, which was a benefit. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but the wait time was definitely not as enjoyable. I'm not sure if this is the normal wait time or if they were short on kitchen staff. I would attend again due to the nice food and atmosphere.

Not happy we came for a family birthday 3 people had steaks and they wasn’t cooked how they was asked to be cooked.Missing items. Steaks and chips tasted chemically. Portions were awful for the price and a young gentleman at the bar was rude , wouldn’t recommend!

Could not fault the carvery, but service was atrocious, they weren't overly busy either, 1pm in a Sunday. Over 20 mins for 1st round of drinks ordered for 3 of our party, the others ordered about 10 mins later but their drinks arrived first. Literally had to go find a server to take our food order. Main menu item came out and we again had to find a server to get our carvery vouchers, then they only brought 3 tickets, we were a table of 5 with one main menu item so obviously there were 4 carverys required. Ordered coffees and hot chocolates, 2 hot chocolates came out tepid, other 3 drinks followed about 5 mins later.

Lovely place great staff don't like new menu unfortunately food was good but not my liking everything else was perfect I had hunters chicken or least that's what I was expecting this new version hasn't the same appeal sorry just is what it is

We've been coming here a few times since moving here 6 years ago. We last visited 5 months ago and it was brilliant however today's visit has left us never returning again. We were sat down and no one told us they've moved to a QR code ordering system and we had been sat waiting for over half an hour. The vegetarian options are now very minimal, my husband had just 3x options to pick from. The food took a very long time to come out and when it did all 3 meals were stone cold. My 18 month old daughter's meal of sausage an mash was still raw in the middle. Meals were sent back but none of us could stomach them, my husband didn't eat his at all in the end, he felt ill. We won't be returning, not sure what happened but this used to be so lovely of a place to go to.

A little over priced for normal pub food, had to search for a server, no one came back to check if my food was ok, maybe the prices contributed to the lack of people and atmosphere.

Very good meal - the new menu is excellent. Also there are quite a few gluten free options. Both our waitresses were very efficient and attentive, especially Jessica, who made us feel very welcome! We certainly be returning to this pleasant, friendly canal-side hostelry.

Sunday carvery is very very good!

1st time here in years. Time has not been kind to this place. Had a carvery and went large. The meat was ok. Turkey, pork and beef. Roast potatoes were awful. Carrots were a soggy mess. Cauliflower cheese was watery and under cooked. The stuffing, which was about 1.5 square inches was bland. Watery gravy topped off the whole things nicely. The horseradish sauce was the only thing I could be positive about. The kids sundae was literally 2 scoops of ice cream with chocolate sauce. Plates sat on our table for 20 minutes after we finished and the bill wasn't split as we asked which caused the woman and the bar to have meltdown. I do not recommend the carvery here at all.

Time I wanted wasn’t originally available but I was still able to request it to see if I could be accommodated. This is a great feature and I think all pubs should do this. We had a great cosy niche to eat in. Thank

Had a lovely meal tonight at the Boathouse. This is the 3rd time we have visited this restaurant the food is amazing and the staff are very welcoming. We will definitely be back.

He held the wake for my mother's funeral, and Milo and the team did an excellent job helping me organise it advising on food options and being very accommodating in what we wanted to do. The team did a great job on the day laying out the buffet and keeping it topped up. Also the guest all commented on how good the food was, which I agree with. This all helped make a difficult day go smoothly, so very much appreciated by myself and family. Thanks again.

Visited for the first time today after driving past it so many times, and it was lovely! Good atmosphere and the staff on were fab, thank you! It looks like we'll be back for a Sunday roast soon, and maybe I won't be too full to have the burnt basque cheesecake!

We have travelled past the Boat House so many times over the years and have always said we should go in, we were looking for a place to have a carvery and when i saw this was on offer we decided to give it a go, and we were not disappointed, the food was lovely and the setting was beautiful.

Milo was very friendly and efficient

Three out of the four of us had the carvery at a 2pm booking..giving the place another chance due to being disappointed before. The other meal was quick to come. Despite not advising as such when giving us the menu, the mixed grill, among other items, is not available on a Sunday disappointingly ...thus why 3 not 2 had the carvery. The meat was minimal, no mash but the cauliflower cheese and carrots were good. I couldn't tell if the stuffing square was to eat or was kindling for the lovely log fire we were seated next to-it having been ready probably about 12pm that day and anything else after that time being a trade-off against eating it and keeping your teeth. We saved our hopes for the dessert but advised they had already ran out of the lemon torte by 3pm so guess not! Raise the bar guys, it was shocking...

A lovely place for a family xmas meet up.

Slow to take orders for 8 guests today, long wait for food after ordering, two ordered fish & chips, both were completely different fish, one was over cooked very dry couldn’t eat it, should have complained at time, very expensive. Two out of 4 coffees were cold, won’t be eating there again.

We had Christmas dinner here today. We aren't from the area, and are staying in an Air BnB nearby for the week, so we didn't know much about the pub. It was ok...I mean I'd describe it as a bit 'meh'. We stood for over 5 mins at the entrance for someone to spot us and seat us, then we waited ages at the bar to be served as our table wasn't ready. Not the bartenders fault, they're offering a lot of cocktails and not staffing it sufficiently to make them quickly. Starters came almost immediately once we were seated, pate was nice but the bread was so stale it was like a biscuit. Obviously been sliced/ toasted way before serving and it was inedible. Took a long time to get fresh bread to us- it should all be fresh to be honest. The lady serving at the carvery was so lovely. Our interaction with her really elevated our experience. Turkey was lovely, not dry, same with the beef. Yorkshires, were good, carrots delicious, bacon on pigs in blankets was like leather, cauliflower cheese needed more cheese, roast potatoes were not crispy, more hard. Christmas pudding was a bit odd- had a questionable sauce in there with the ice cream- was it icing? Chocolate trio- brownie was gritty but tasted good, ice cream was lovely, mousse lost all of its integrity and looked like someone had planted a fake turd on the plate. It wasn't the worst in the world but some disappointments, parts were great Was it worth 75 quid a head? Absolutely not. We don't pay much more for Christmas dinner at higher end gastropubs in Birmingham and they are always really impressive and innovative. I'm sure it's a lovely pub for a weekend lunch or drinks, particularly in summer.

Works Xmas meal. Food was very good and plenty. Venue and location spot on next to the canal. Staff were nice and attentive. Nothing was any trouble. Wish this was my local. Will definitely return soon.

Excellent service by all staff who gave us all (party of 11), a very warm welcome. The food was pre ordered and came promptly (some quests were late but this was not a problem and the staff showed great understanding) . Food was excellent, tasty and hot. The Manager, Milo, was attentive and checked in on us regularly. Would definitely recommend this establishment to friends and family.

Great location plenty of parking. Food was nice. The whole place was cold inside so a little cool to sit in without a jacket for food. The service was great, food lovely and hot.

Staff welcoming, attentive and efficient. There was a small delay in our desserts being served but the waitress was very apologetic which demonstrates a very caring attitude.

Always greeted by friendly, helpful staff. Quality food and drink is a given otherwise we would not keep on returning. Great Sunday Carvery , don’t change, it is the best in the area even if it costs a few coins more than elsewhere.

Food was mostly very nice, although some elements could have been better (lumpy mash, overcooked veg, but the core elements of the mains like the steak and pie were decent). The service was very slow however (took us an hour to get starters), but we did have a voucher that helped make it worth having come out for the meal

The meals were first class as usual. My only reservation was that the steak and ale pie was not available and neither was fish and chips for my two guests. The service was good and the waitress was helpful.

Situated by the Oxford Canal on the A45, close to Braunston village: extensive outdoor seating amongst trees and bushes, as well as children's play area, and well secured area. Extensive classic interior, with a variety of different themed seating and dining areas. Extensive menu, and carvery on Sundays, starting at £15.75.

Very cold in the building, didn’t feel like the heating was on. Every one sat in coats. Some of the food was cold. Very over priced. Portions of chips were so small we had to order more.

Called in tonight for dinner and it seems to be back on form after loosing it's way during the summer. The food was really hot and well cooked and service was very quick. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Thanks for an enjoyable evening

Food OK as expected for a chain pub. But when service charge options are offered on the payment device start at 15% and go up from there they get nothing and I'm never going again.

If you want good service don’t go to this place. If you order food don’t bother I ordered pate and got the smallest pieces of toast ever with frozen butter my pate should have been with brandy (which they are serving for Christmas dinner) there was no brandy in that pate. I ordered the 10oz rib eye steak very very poor I think there was 9oz of hard fat and crap so I complained. Yes they gave me 75% off my main course, as admitted the steak served was very poor. Why serve it then??? However I normally don’t moan so I did not but I had peppercorn sauce for my steak but I could not eat the steak but this was not refunded. I thought the entire main course should have been refunded but they offered 75% which ok sounds great wish I had thought about this and refused it and should have gone for 100%. If you want a nice meal at lunch do not go to this place it’s bloody terrible. Worst meal me and Mrs have had in 18 years. Place looks great but the food is pretty important!!!! And I would rather eat a meal from road kill.

We haven’t been to the Boathouse for a long time for a Sunday dinner (as not a massive lover of carvery’s) but we went yesterday and the lunch was superb! We couldn’t fault it in any way, all rounded off with a lovely bottle of wine. Thank you to the team, we will be back.

I booked a table for boyfriends' birthday dinner. The staff were very polite and helpful, clean and well presented table. Didn't have to wait very long for food to arrive, which was very good, generous portions, good price. We have eaten here on many occasions and always been very happy with the service and food, nice variety of seating areas too.

What a wonderful carvery we had today. Can’t fault anything the meat , veggies, gravy. Which for me makes a perfect roast was fantastic. All 4 us loved everything. Thanks to everyone who helped make it a great experience

We was shown our table and we replied ‘we have a dog is that ok?’ The man just replied ‘no’ very blunt. I ordered 2 drinks on the website scanning the QR code, after 35 mins I went to the bar as I stil had not received and the barman then took the ticket off the machine and said it had only just come through, convenient timing. We then went to the bar to order and was told by (I assume the manage) that someone would come to our table to take our order, when one of our party advised we had now been sat at our table for 45 mins and not once had someone come over he just replied ‘ok’ We then ordered a carvery and when we went to get the carvery was advised they only have the tiniest bit of beef and some turkey left, the lady advised we should have been told this upon ordering which we were not. Also ordered a kids meal with a dessert, once the plates were taken away we then had to ask for the dessert twice! The only reason I gave this rating 2 star was because the food itself was quite nice, but other than that, the customer service was absolutely awful.

We have visited the boat house quite often for family special occasions , and it has always been great! Recently we have been going on a Monday lunch time, and the food and service has been really good. Great welcoming staff, a varied menu for many tastes, and a care for those with dietary requirements and allergies. Price point is reasonable for quality provided and location in the Picturesque village of Braunston. Big car park, views of the canal, dog friendly, clean facilities, and the above, what more could you ask for! We will be back again, and regularly at that!

Eh. This is a 'location' pub. In the summer you can imagine having a couple of pints watching the boats lazily pass by. Scenic views and watching the patter of local narrowboatists. Other than that everything generally disappoints. Food is average, weatherspoons style delivery but double the price and service was poor, they're friendly and kind, but disorganised and slow if there's more than a few tables. If you fancy a couple of pints and a nibble by the canal, don't doubt it come here. If you have other dinner options, take them. P.s. Non stop Christmas songs in October was weird
