Came here in the summer on a whim(girlfriend has ADHD and I played assassin's creed valhalla 😂) after a loverly experience we vowed to come back with my dad. After a loverly drive to the pub we enjoyed 3 beautiful meals(I had cottage pie, my misses had gammon, my dad had the special mint lamb steak) I tried everyone meal and would of been overjoyed with all 3,we then had dessert which are to die for(2 chocolate orange cake and a Xmas pud) the value was so good. We will be back as all left happy and full, one of the best pub meals I've ever had.

We visited this evening for our wedding anniversary. We have not been able to come since lockdown but we’re very much looking forward to celebrating this evening. It appears that the Pub has been taking over since our last visit and the menu has been changed. No starters and the menu can only really be described as pub grub. Unfortunately they now do not stand out against any other chain restaurant. My main course was lukewarm and when I confirm that my dessert would be served hot, I was assured it would be, it came cold. We did point out that the main course was not hot and were advised to let them know in future. However from experience when one does this the other person is left to finish their meal on their own. This restaurant has always been our go to place for family celebrations and we even bought some American friends there to show them what English pubs are really like. As I said before there is nothing that makes them stand out and unfortunately we will not be back

It felt like ownership had just changed. We went in for a pub lunch on a Sunday, so roasts were the only option, but there was basically no option for vegetarians. When challenged, they offered some frozen falafel with the veg from the other roasts (and the same meat gravy...) which was just sub par for 2022. The other roasts were disappointing with fairly meagre portions and average meat. The waitress other hand was brilliant and was working super hard and was very friendly. Overall it needs a bit of a refresh...

We visited between Christmas & New Year 2019, and had a very good meal of fish and chips - the batter was especially good, light and crisp and not the usual stodge found in so many places. Because of the time of the year was a very limited menu. What was served was excellent, hot and tasty and a good portion size, the fish flaked beautifully . Staff were friendly and sociable in a very pleasant natural way, and not the forced patronising interest that you find in so many pubs. It is not a grand place, the décor could do with an update, but being a rural village pub, it probably does not get much in the way of townies expecting a chintzy place with bouncy castles, nor kids running around everywhere - if that's what you are looking for, this is not for you! Just good honest homely pub food

Typical village pub that’s not been ‘’gastroised’ yet! Lots of old fashioned charm, friendly service and a few draught beers to suit most real ale enthusiasts! We didn’t eat but the menu looked typical pub grub and reasonably priced, so might well try on a future visit. Convenient car park (adjacent to the main road) and a few spaces outside of the pub itself - but we were conscious that the pub is located in a relatively peaceful residential area, so if arriving by car I am sure both the landlord and the neighbours would prefer the main car park is used.

Just revisited 11 Dec 2024 and unfortunately it hasn't got any better, the mains arrived before the starters, they were then taken back, the starter was good when it arrived, however when the mains were returned they had dried out, so not good. Tough and not tasty. At least my cats got a treat as I took the meat home. Will maybe try again in another couple of years, if it's still open. Very poor One of my local favorites no more. Starters arrived with no dips or salad, when questioned the bar staff ask what was missing, I didn't write the menu. Then waited to the point of leaving for the main which also arrived wrong, lost patients No apologies not offer of a refund ( wouldn't lower myself to ask for one) won't be bac. A real shame

Phoned ahead to make sure that the pub was wheelchair accessible, and could also accommodate a mobility scooter. Was assured on the phone that the pub was accessible with a ramp at the rear of the pub. On arrival we found that the accessible entrance wasn't as it first appeared. The ramp was fine, but the the actual entrance into the pub had what can only be described as a metal bar at the bottom of the doorframe in the entrance. This was to high for my electric wheelchair to safely drive over without causing damage to the chair. Equally the mobility scooter would have the same problem. The two members of staff that happened to be outside at the time were very blasé about the issue. Is the purple pound not good enough for this establishment? Such a shame, because it actually looked like a nice pub! Yet again, another business that has an archaic attitude towards disabled customers.
