What an amazing place with friendly staff and delightful food. The steak was to die for :) thanks a lot

If you like overcooked microwaved veg and well done meats then this is the place for you. Plus clueless staff.

Awful Sunday roast. Ate at around 17.45-18.00. Can only assume we got the “left overs”! The slow cooked rib of beef was fine, as was the Yorkshire pudding. As for the the veg. Carrots well over cooked. Cabbage okay. I like crunchy veg. But the broccoli was virtually raw. Knife couldn’t cut through the stem! How they had the nerve to serve what they claim to be roast potatoes is beyond belief. Looked like they had been reheated more than once and tasted liked cold chips. Inedible. I didn’t complain as we were being “treated” as a thank you and did not want to embarrass them. So disappointed and that’s another venue not to go to again

School dinner food on a Tuesday, we should have complained, still in awe of the shape of the gammon and then discovering that it was a piece of pineapple thought it was a lump of cheese, service was very poor

We were staying in the area for a couple of days and decided to book an evening meal out. We had the Sunday Roast and we’re not disappointed. We we’re well looked after by a lovely young lady - Alice.

Lovely meal with excellent service. Very welcoming staff and reasonably priced food. Thank to our charming waitress Alice.

Had the smothered chicken. Which was supposed to have cheese on and come with onion rings. Alas it arrived with neither. I had to point out the obvious to the waiter who had not realised !! Very disappointing and the chicken was like rubber. We had waited such a long time to eat so it was pointless to send it back at this stage. Based on our experience this evening regarding of taking off all the meals, a group of 4 as a gesture of good will I will not return. More staff is needed along with attention to detail.

Enjoyed a lovely meal at the Spencer Arms on Friday night although our first two choices of starters were unavailable. We had the gammon and fish and chips for mains, both of which were tasty and perfectly cooked. A special thanks to our waitress, Leah, who was very friendly and efficient.

Fantastic Sunday lunch, plenty of choice but the beef was amazing. Great choice of desserts too, and the staff were great, especially Colette, thank you, would definitely recommend.

I met up with a special friend for lunch today at the Spencer Arms. The pub was very welcoming, clean and bright and nicely decorated We had a nice roast dinner each along with a sweet and sticky dessert ( it had to be done)! Our waitress Colette was warm and lovely and was a pleasure to deal with, nothing was too much trouble for her, she is a credit to the pub. I would not hesitate to recommend this lovely country pub.

Excellent service (thank you Colette) but a few menu items were not available, the steak was tough and the parsley oil lacked flavour.

Went for mothering Sunday. Service was excellent and food was piping hot and really tasty .plenty of gravy too. Wasn't rushed either as I was expecting on mother's day to be moved along quick.lovely atmosphere

We’ve had a lovely Mother’s Day dinner at the Spencer Arms, the food was really nice & I think very good value! Lia, Mia & Jess were great :) The only issue we had was it was way too hot 🥵 but I’m sure the heating can be adjusted :) Thank you for a lovely evening. We will most definitely return ❤️

Easy to book online. Welcoming staff, Colette was really friendly and helpful. Starters, main meals and desserts were excellent and we had a superb evening.

Visited for sunday lunch - something we haven't done for ages. Hubby and I had roast beef which was lovely. We were served by Colette, she was very attentive and kind despite having had some challenging customers that afternoon. Other than a loud, sweary family,...

Great food and even though they were busy the service was brilliant!. We were looked after by Collette and she was polite and professional throughout our visit and always had a smile on her face. We will definitely be dining again

Poor service, lipstick stain on glass, when asked for another drink it took 20 mins, plates left in front of us for a long time and not asked if food was okay, food was brought at the wrong time.

Sammy & Lia took care of us today. Food was amazing and served in a timely fashion despite being busy. Super efficient service as per usual. We ate here last weekend Sammy was working super hard - every employers dream staff member, going above & beyond with a smile on her face. Will return as this is local to our own business & such an all round pleasant experience!

Glass has lipstick on, poor service, order was messed up and in the wrong order, plates were not collected for ages, had to remind for a drink that was asked for and didn’t come till 30 minutes later, was discriminated against because of our age (put in the side table), eventually asked about our food when nearly finished our dinner, waitresses were rude and did not communicate with each other, waited ages to be seen to see what we wanted to order.

Had wanted to try the food for a while, what was served was good. Ordered a pair of Trio of Roasts, one arrived with no beef and minimal meat, the other without any roast potates. A side of pigs in blankets to share, was one sausage in bacon. It was obvious there was delays with the food due to service being busy, and only when mentioned we were brought the missing items. Surely a check in the kitchen to ensure that the primary items were plated? We would have stayed for desert, but we never offered a menu, any other drinks and the family at the next table with the screaming child made our choice to pay up and leave an easy choice. Minimal effort from staff made this experience one not to recommend.

We had a lovely date night here last night! Last time we visited in '21, our experience was below par - on reflection covid probably had quite an impact on staffing levels, supply, morale etc. We hadn't been back since, more through circumstance than anything. But I'm so glad we came back. All the staff we spoke to were polite, warm, and friendly. We were shown to our table early, and all our food and drinks were brought to us without any long wait. No long delay between courses either, but just the right gap so we weren't rushed. We had the squid, terrine, signature burger, sea bass and apple tart and the reisling wine. The food was really tasty, portion sizes were perfect and never overloaded with food (although we did gawp at the calorie content of the burger!!) The reisling was fantastic and really drinkable- so much so we're looking at buying some for home. Probably not the cheapest meal out, but it was really nice, and its rare we get time off from the children, so it was worth it. Thank you.

For my first time at The Spencer Arms, I was greeted with a warm welcome and very helpful staff. Service was quick, and the food was outstanding. Steak and Pie was a proper pie. Very pleased with the experience and would thoroughly recommend The Spencer Arms if you are in the area.

First choice fish was off menu, Korean chicken 2nd but arrived minus kimchi, when I complained I was accused of being rude and wasn’t welcome back. A few heated words later the bill arrived minus price of my meal. Wouldn’t go back even if I wasn’t barred

We stopped here for lunch. We both found it very good, very hot as well. Friendly service, and a peaceful lunch break. We will be going again, food very tasty.

A lovely cosy environment and decent food.This was a last minute booking on a Sunday evening , the setting was traditional and though we weren’t sat near a fire we could tell there was one as it was an older traditional style pub and felt warm and welcoming. Food was tasty , we had a sharing platter( bread/ chips a little over cooked) but nevertheless tasty combination. Staff were helpful and obliging( a little forgetful, forgot glass of wine and teaspoons- but no big problem) and nothing was too much trouble . Pleasantly surprised as had not visited before, price was middle of the road but would not have guessed it was from Chef and Brewer range, will visit again.

We visited the pub for an early evening meal and it was the best meal out we’ve had for a long time, the food was delicious! We were served by Juliet and Stacey who were really lovely, friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning again.

Popped in for a New Year's day lunch. Took a cosy seat in the bar area by the fire, and enjoyed an excellent lunch with a nice pint. A look at the evening menu means we'll definitely be back (first time visit). Very minor niggles: the background music was slightly intrusive (though could've been where we were sitting), and... - please ditch the robot phone answering ('Clare')..... real voices, please!

Just popped in for a drink to see what it was like as we hadn't been in for about a year as it had lost its buzz. However, it's so much better, the atmosphere was really friendly and small adjustments to the bar area have really improved things. The team were really welcoming, so we'll definitely be going back!

Absolutely lovely pub, from the minute we walked through the door the staff made you feel welcome and at home. The food was delicious and piping hot and I can highly recommend the chicken and ham hock pie, it was packed with filling and the gravy was gorgeous. We will definitely visit again in the not too distant future.

Not sure what happened with meals today, burnt veggie wellington was returned and bought out a freshly burnt alternative. The restaurant did refund the meal but chef should never have sent meal out. The roasts potatoes on all adult meals were pale and far too small and therefore just rubbery with no flavour. Last time we had a lovely meal so very dissappointed. Please at least serve proper roast spuds and not the silly small bits of potatoes - these should be the best bit of a roast or xmas dinner.

Colette our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. The food was excellent and they have a great selection of drinks at the bar. The bar staff were also great and made our visit a great experience.

I really like it here, it has the traditional village pub feel with great food and great service, Children friendly, good parking and a great range on the menu This is not my first visit and most definitely will not be the last! See you soon :-)

Dropped in on the off-chance of a table for 5, and the greeting was superb. Drinks, Main course and dessert all excellent only made better by Mia. Mia was cheerful, polite, and professional and made our visit special. Definitely return, thank you.

Thought we had found the place for a Sunday lunch but our experience was not good today.The waitress couldn't understand our choice of drinks (orange juice, Apple juice) The waiter brought out the wrong meals. The pork was too dry and hard. The roast potatoes and brocoli was also too dry and hard. We will have to try elsewhere. I was charged £4.50 for each dink the glass was full of ice about 50p of juice.

Went for a family meal, really nice food, nice setting just unfortunately a little slow in service, it was busy in there defence!

Visited yesterday evening. Exemplary service from the moment we walked through the door. Greeted and seated instantly. Enjoyed the food. Did not visit with a dog but good to know they are welcome too. Nice dog board with lovely dog photos. I would not hesitate to revisit.

Lovely place with relaxed atmosphere. Front of house staff couldn't be faulted but when member of kitchen staff brought something to the table he looked annoyed and almost spilt it. That attitude unfortunately spoils the overall experience. I found the roast to be quite salty so I wouldn't have that again but would certainly visit again and have something else from the menu.

I recently stopped by for a cup of coffee, and I was thoroughly impressed! The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the cozy atmosphere as I walked in. The barista was friendly and skilled, crafting a perfect cup of coffee that warmed my soul. It was rich, smooth, and just the right temperature. The ambiance of the inn made it even more enjoyable. A great place to savor a cup of java. I'll definitely be back!

We haven’t visited this pub in 10 years and can honestly say what a great place. We were greeted by the amazing staff and nothing was too much trouble. The food very tasty, hot, well presented and no waiting around even thou a large order had gone in before ours. Most of all the customer service was outstanding. Will be definitely visiting again with my family. Great place, great atmosphere thank you.

An unexpected delight. Head here, eat food, be happy. Three of us at here for Sunday lunch. Probably the best roast I've ever had out. Amazing veg, so fresh. Garlic and rosemary roasties, seasoned to perfection. Pork loin that was tender, crackling that was more-ish. Yorkie that was spot on. Kid loved the ice cream. Really good prices - around £14 for the mains. Colette was our waitress, responsive and helpful. We can't wait to head back.

Because of time constraints I only called in for Lunchtime sandwich. Had steak, (cooked how you wanted) in ciabatta. Came with a small portion of fries, a green leaf salad that had an excellent dressing and a small gravy boat filled with onion gravy. Not big but just right for lunch. It was all very good. Food, good as it was, the service was even better. Both the staff that served me, at the bar and at the table, were very friendly and helpful. I will certainly go there again and look at the the full evening menu.

We have been here a few times so it was about time we left a review. We visited in July on a Saturday night. The food is always excellent. My wife had the chicken burger and I had the pork from the specials menu. Both meals were excellent, well cooked, fresh and tasted lovely. No complaints about the service. Staff friendly, helpful and always a nice choice of tables. This venue is always a favourite. Keep up the good work.

Dropped in on the off chance of lunch as hadn't booked. Not hoped for much from the outside but very surprised by good and service. Lovely welcome, smiling faces. Had a sharing platter between 3 of us had flatbread, garlic bread, salami, melted camembert, cucumber, olives. Big portion. Mains we had lamb flatbreads and seafood platter. The flatbread portion was huge.. A tad too much caramelised onion but great taste. Seafood platter was good potion and well cooked. Had a pint and 2 pints of lime and soda approx 80 quid for 3. Well worth a visit
