The Brampton Halt in Daventry

This was my first visit and I had a lovely breakfast. I had the Smoked Salmon Eggs Royale and my friend had the breakfast sandwich. There was a generous amount of salmon, the sauce was lovely and the poached eggs were perfectly cooked. I really enjoyed it. I also had a pot of tea which gave me about 3 cups worth, and was served with milk, sugar, and a lotus biscoff biscuit. My total bill was £16.30 which I thought was reasonable. My friend's sandwich was huge for the £8 price and she said everything in it was great. Will definitely be back for breakfast and perhaps also to try their main dinner menu

the staff was outstanding, food outstanding, service was outstanding, Could not fault a thing on our evening with Brampton Halt. I would recommend this place to anyone that asks me for somewhere to eat.

Quaint pub you could easily drive pass, but don't Lots ff outdoor seating and pond Staff work hard to look after you 4 star for food because my noodle dish was sweet, and the mango desert was OK Good selection of wines and beers.

We had booked on line and had confirmation of booking, when we arrived said they couldn't accommodate us. The hostess was rude and just wasn't bothered, had she been polite and helpful we would of stayed and eaten outside as it was a pleasant day. Will not go back

Cold overcooked eggs on my eggs benedict. Horrible dry vegetarian sausages on the veggie breakfast. "Pot of tea" only half full so actually, just a cup. Overall, nice place let down by shoddy mistakes and a bit of greed. £2.85 for a tea looks like a healthy margin already skimping on the water is just sharp practice.

Not my type of food menu, could do with a few healthy starter options. A great place for me to have a beer outdoors.

We had not been here for a while, has had a bad experience, Visted lunchtime at 12.15pm. Were allowed to choose our own seats. Was served by a male person, excellent service, well done, service was spot on Food: husband had a mixed grill, was very nice. I had a bacon cheese burger, was very nice, shame about the burnt bacon in it. Will return , great improvement

This is a lovely place for lunch and staff very friendly with excellent service, and we will be coming back. My only complaint would be that all our roast dinners were a bit cold. Some extra gravy that we asked for helped which was lovely and hot, but would expect food to come out piping hot really.

Booked a table for a family group of 12. It was a warm & sunny Saturday in May & the hoards were out. The location & surroundings are very pleasant for a drink with friends....on a weekday 😉. The menu has been streamlined & it's not often I find myself disappointed by a menu but on this occasion I just expected more. It was ridiculously busy with long waits of 45 mins between every course! We would have drunk more but there were huge queues & table service for our drinks orders took as long as the food to arrive. Meals were served missing key ingredients/trimmings. This pub/restaurant seems to constantly be pushing the boundaries of its capability to turn a profit but unfortunately they're not succeeding in quality, service or value for money. All very disappointing.

Came here a lot of times now for food and drink and I can say it is amazing on the out patio with a drink there if amazing views over the field and not too expensive for food and drink. There is a lot of parking and always full this is so good to see that they are busy if you are near by I would recommend stopping in for a drink the place is well kept up clean and tidy and good verity of drinks I will 100% be back soon thank you so much

Just popped in for a quick pint, nice setting and quick service

The garden and space make this a go to pub. We live locally and have a 6 year old, so there is plenty of space for him to run around. Food is just average and service wasn’t good on this particular day. We was served by numerous people and had to wait a while for food we had booked for 17:30, and they had run out of the main dish I chose. It is always dirty on the floor and in the toilets. We will go again, but just stick with drinks.

Visited on Bank Holiday Monday. Had been numerous times before, so content to drive from Peterborough to Brampton Halt. Unfortunately but as expected it was very busy. Our reserved table was available for the time we booked and our order taken within 15mins of arrival. Almost 1.5 hours later we were informed that one of the meals we had ordered was now off the menu, new order placed, then had to wait a further 20mins for all meals to be cooked and served. Despite the offering of 'on the house' desserts, it will be difficult to justify another 60min drive for a meal at Brampton Halt in the future.

Pub next door is superb Hotel is decent

Seated promptly but then waited 40 minutes before first drinks arrived. Food quality not the best considering price paid, no condiments offered when food was brought to table, requested to see dessert menu but this didn't arrive, server then came and asked if we required any desserts, at this point we politely declined and settled bill and left. A real shame as we have visited many times before and had no issues.

Lovely spot overlooking the Brampton Valley. Pub is let down by its poor range of uninspiring chemical works beers. Would expect to see a local ale at a pub like this.

I love this place, hands down my favourite country pub for a fun, child friendly vibe. The staff are great, so helpful and everytime I've been there they've been really happy. Easy to chat to random people there too. The place attracts some nice genuine people.

Love a sunny day afternoon drive to here...stunning beer garden. Friendly staff, good wine, and although we have never eaten here, the food always looks amazing.

It was my 77th birthday and we were made to feel as if we were the only people in the restaurant that mattered. The staff were so good at what they do and really attentive. Despite it being a busy night for them, they managed to get around to everyone and serve them with their meals. Absolutely fantastic. I asked my husband to go and thank the Chef personally for the wonderful food that we had. All three of us had different meals and they were all top draw. Thank you again for making my birthday so special. On top of which, when the deserts came out, mine had a personalised message and a candle. You all made me feel like I was a young girl again. A very special mention for Louise who really did make my experience memorable. Thank you.

Went up as a group,table was reserved and we got seated promptly. Drinks were ordered and came quick enough, although I would have liked to have seem more different ales available. Food orders taken and all came out together, everyone enjoyed their individual meals. Had dessert which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was a busy day so taking that into account the staff coped well. Been a while since I've been there so nice to see car park was extended. The grounds are kept well and nice to walk round the water

Expected better £22 Sunday lunch asked for Leg of Lamb got 3 slices of lamb hard roast spuds and hard veg cold cabbage and watery grave the Yorkie was big and tasted nice all in all not the best value for money and the menu is very limited great that your dog can sit with you in the pub

Not our best visit unfortunately. Although not appearing to be very busy at lunchtime, the table service was slow. Slow to take food order, slow to clear plates. Also waited ages for the fourth meal for our table (and needed to ask for it again), whilst we started our meals - which weren't very warm at all (presumably from initially waiting for the last meal) which was not forthcoming. It's a shame on this occasion the basics of 'timings' fell short.

It’s always a great stop for a meal or lunch. The food was delicious with an excellent menu for all palettes The grounds are great for both whiling away the afternoon with a drink or al fresco dining

Staff were very friendly and accommodating when we had to change the number in our party to 6. Pleasant atmosphere on arrival due to a busy restaurant. We all enjoyed our meals, especially steak fries, cooked to perfection, and sticky toffee pudding. Service was efficient and food good value for money. Look forward to our next visit.

Sadly on this occasion the food was not great. The starters required more seasoning they were very bland. The risotto was stodgy and the chips were not crispy they were dry and ones we would describe as heartburn chips. The lamb chop was so over baked and dry and the fat not rendered at all not to mention served with green grey boiled new potatoes. Not appetising at all. The strawberry shortcake stack was not a stack it was served in a sundae glass and there wasn’t a crumb of shortbread to be seen it was sent back with the server to enquire and they never returned. No apology given or a change of dessert. In fact they asked if we wanted the bill so we asked about the strawberry shortcake dessert and was told it was a miss communication with the chef who’s is new. The sticky toffee pudding was not a pudding and not sticky it was more like a ginger tray bake cake with a little toffee sauce over the top but not enough to go with the amount of sponge cake. All in all a very disappointing visit and we are relatively frequent visitors. In a positive note the Red Sea bream was cooked perfectly as was the fish that was served with the chips and the wine was lovely.

Food mostly fine though lamb could have been more tender. Wrong drink brought for one of party, but was rectified. Vegetarian option very good and all other meals excellent.

£18.50 for a tasteless thoroughly cooked (I'd asked for medium) burger, chips that were hot on the outside and cold inside (extra salty and tasteless too). It seemed like we were served frozen food that was heated up, not worth the price. The fish was also very bland and expensive for what it was. We were also confused why the waitresses have to wear such short shorts as it did not really match the environment. I wouldn't return and cannot recommend.

On Easter Sunday ,my family and I had a fabulous meal at Brampton Halt . I can,t praise it highly enough ,the food was great ,and the staff fantastic . Well done 👍😁🐣🐇

As we arrived in the carpark we saw a sea of people outside and realised that we might be waiting a while because of the sheer volume of tables. The poor waiting staff were overwhelmed and stressed, and we're becoming snappy with each other. Not their fault, just too many guests to deal with. We waited for over an hour before we decided to cancel our mains order because we were running out of time. Too many orders for the kitchens to cope with I imagine, hence the massive delays. Less tables, booking-only, more service, happier staff. That's what's needed. Won't be going back.

We visited as a group of four and unfortunately had a really poor £75+ experience. To start, drinks took 30 minutes to arrive and were brought out at completely different times — we were told this was due to a queue at the coffee machine, but some drinks (including an apple juice!) came out after the food. Not that we could really enjoy the food — one breakfast was missing sausages, and the poached eggs came out hard boiled. By the time mistakes were corrected, the food was cold. We were also told the delay was because our order was put through on two tickets, yet bafflingly they still brought part of each ticket out together, which only added to the confusion and wait time. On top of that, we were charged £3.50 for a tea, but they had no teapots available, so we only received a single cup. At that price, you’d expect at least a full pot. All in all, this was a really disappointing and disorganised experience — we won’t be rushing back.

Used to be my favourite Northampton pub. Now looking for another one where piped music is not so ubiquitous. Other than that, great pub. Nice location, plenty of outside seating. A new climbing frame/slide for the kids. Didn't try the food but it's always been great in the past, if a touch on the pricey side. Do stop and see if this is for you.

Friendly staff, although quite a slow service. Very overpriced and with small portions. The main problem for me was having eaten here 5 or 6 times now the chefs seem to be clueless. Every single time I order meat is is undercooked. Burgers are completely pink and bloody as were the lamb chops. Wouldn't recommend if you are looking for high quality food. Also wouldn't recommend if you are looking for an affordable meal.

Went to the Mamma Mia film night with a friend and thought it was great, lovely food and quality cocktails, atmosphere was perfect! Can’t wait for the next one!

This was a return visit to Brampton Halt and our expectations were high based on previous visits. Sadly, we were to be disappointed. Service was incredibly slow, despite the pub being quiet. There were plenty of staff, but they seemed more interested in talking to each other rather than serving customers. The food was also nowhere near the standards of their Sunday lunch, the mains were only average at best. It shouldn't take over 2 hours to have a two course pub lunch.

Took 1hour to take our order. Over 30 mins to serve. One out of the four dinners was cold, was asked if I would like it heating up! Not, ‘could I get you another meal’ Toilets dirty. Not the best experience

We came here on Sunday for my Pap’s (Grandads) 90th Birthday. The staff were super helpful and accommodating, they allowed us to come in for our table 30 minutes early. They were also very understanding when 2 members of our party were running late. The waitress serving us went above and beyond making sure we were all okay, had plenty of drinks etc. The Sunday lunch that we had was phenomenal, the on critique was the roast potato’s were slightly hard. Apart from that, overall we all had a lovely time and will definitely be back. My pap throughly enjoyed his birthday celebration/ meal. 100% will recommend.

This is a great place, however we were not offered an itemised bill when we last visited for sunday lunch , so just paid it only to discover they add a 10% service charge which I have no problem with but we left a generous tip anyway so we were actually tipped twice. Not happy which is a shame

We ate early about 5.30 and it was quiet which suited us. Food was very well presented and delicious (chicken supreme and slow cooked lamb). Waitress, Louise was lovely. Best meal we've had for a while.

We had a large group and limited time, the staff were brilliant and worked well to make sure we weren’t rushed and the food was delicious too.

Great find on our walk along the old train track. Fabulous busy pub, fast service great food and what a lovely atmosfere. Nothing was too much trouble.

Last sunday was not great. 30 mins waiting for starters. Food quality far from good. Burgers dry, crispy bacon turned to be burnt bacon. I had good memories after my visit few years ago. After last Sunday i think we'll take a break from this place. Staff very friendly.

I just had my 50th birthday party at the Marquee at the Halt. The events team were great; attentive, proactive and really helped make it a great night. Food was excellent too. Would thoroughly recommend choosing Brampton Halt if you're thinking of hosting a party.

We were very disappointed with our visit; my daughter is a vegan and the menu appeared promising. We were told on arrival that they were out of vegan cheese, so we said it wouldn't be a problem. My daughter ordered the Spiced Courgette and Sweetcorn Fritters for her starter, which they didn't have; she then ordered the French Onion soup instead, as the menu said they offered a vegan alternative. We were then informed that it wasn't vegan after all, as it was made with beef broth! I told the waiter that the menu was therefore wrong and he said he would tell them to change it. Unfortunately there were no other vegan options on the starter menu. We then ordered the vegan burger for her main course, saying we realised they were out of vegan cheese; the waitress then said, "So you don't want cheese in the burger?" Although the waitress knew my daughter was a vegan, she clearly thought that normal cheese was a suitable alternative! It appears that the staff need training on the dietary requirements of vegans. This whole experience spoiled what was supposed to be my daughter's birthday celebration meal. We won't be rushing back.

Absolutely excellent! Dealt with champagne gifts from absent friends. Delivered the cake to the table with sparklers lit and a very creditable rendition of 'happy birthday'. Fantastic food!

I visited for the first time to have the Valentine’s Day Set Menu and it was incredible. A really lovely venue, the service was fantastic and the food was great! I will definitely we returning in the summer as they have a massive garden ☀️

Stayed at the nearby hotel and decided to eat out and found here. The staff were really friendly and helpful. It had a good selection on the menu and the food was really good portion sizes and tasty.

While we made the most of the evening, the food was terrible. We visited a few weeks ago and had an excellent time with excellent food. This visit, while fun the food was awful. Do you have different chefs? The last meal was cooked very well, this one wá very poor so much so that I will question visiting the Brampton Halt again. A shame as the serving staff were wonderful as usual

It has been a while since we visited The Halt, so we were looking forward to a visit. We were not disappointed. Service was good, from our waitress Erin who was most attentive. A little wait for the main course, but the food was very good. I had the sea bass and my wife choose from the specials, Lasagne which was excellent. Daughter in law Belly Pork.which she said was the best, my brother in law had the fish and chips. All first class. Thank you

Excellent Burns supper by Andy the friendly Scottish chef who came out to greet us. All 10 of us very much enjoyed the food we ordered including Cullen skink, haggis pakora, balmoral chicken, haggis main course and Cranachan. Every single course was delicious! Well done Andy!

We celebrated our daughters 18th birthday at the Brampton Halt in the Marquee this weekend.  It was fabulous!  Sadie was our point of contact from our initial enquiry to the running of the event on the night.  She was so helpful and gave us plenty of ideas around decorations and set up etc...nothing was too much trouble.  She put us at ease with all of it, and we all had such a great night - young and older alike!  The staff who worked alongside Sadie on the night were polite and friendly and did a cracking job.  I would recommend wholeheartedly for an event such as a birthday, special lunch, etc....and can't think of a single thing I would change about our event. We didn't eat hence score!

The Brampton Halt is a hidden gem when it comes to wedding venues. Every wedding I’ve photographed there has been filled with so much joy. The team there really know how to take care of every little detail, making the day completely stress-free and enjoyable for everyone. If you’re searching for a wedding venue in Northamptonshire that feels inviting and full of charm, The Brampton Halt is definitely worth checking out!

We had Sunday roast here last week, 4 of us and our small puppy. Given a booth with views, the place is absolutely gorgeous inside and out. The food was amazing, massive portions, and so tasty, and the service was superb!!!! will definately be coming back :-)

Lunch Tuesday... I had garlic cheese bread and red onion and goats cheese tart (small but delicious!) My friend had a lovely burger. The food was beautifully presented and the restaurant atmosphere is very relaxing.. it is great in the summer too for al fresco dining as it is in a lovely countryside setting.

Booked for same day Sunday 12th, email saying pending - no email of confirmation so I called the restaurant to find I have no table … absolutely atrocious booking system, customers need and want a simple yes or no when using online booking systems - McManus take a look at your terrible system please

Such a good pub with decent food and great staff, could not wish for more other than it was within walking distance. The staff are absolutly lovely.

We tried to book for Sunday dinner and although the booking was pending we decided to call as they had not contacted us to confirm. We were then told there was no availability. Why didn't they have the decency to contact us and let us know as we could have driven for 40 minutes to be told there was no table available. Very poor service . You need to up your game as we won't be eating here again. Would have got a zero but a one is the lowest you can go.

Just had a big birthday lunch here. Couldn’t fault it. Hog roast in a marquee in January. Toasty warm. Great food. The staff were fabulous. My guests loved it

Lovely pub and service, gluten free options but could provide better options for gluten free. I ordered the gluten free chicken roast was really nice. However normally comes with Stuffing and Yorkshire, they don't provide gf Yorkshire which is fine but menu stated gluten free alternative for Stuffing and i never received any.

Brampton Holt did us proud last night for a surprise 80th birthday party last night for my husband the food was excellent and service was amazing. Would recommend to anybody. Thank you to all the staff for a special evening.

really lovely evening. Good quality of food and well looked after. The only reason for 4/5 stars is that the deserts weren’t worth the money and tasted like they had been put in the microwave. other than that. fantastic food, drink and service!

Waited almost an hour to be served food, which was not to a good standard.

We were here Christmas Day for dinner and again on the 29 th celebrating my daughter’s 21st . On both occasions the food and service was excellent. The staff are so attentive. We will be definitely returning.

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch with friends at the Brampton Halt yesterday. My husband ordered the fish and chips which were good although the batter was a little too undercooked for him. One of our friends had the roast chicken while the other had the roast beef, which came pink. This was good for my friend but if you prefer it more well done I’m sure they would be happy to accommodate. I had the roast lamb. All the meats were succulent and tender. I always find roast potatoes, not crispy enough but the other vegetables; red cabbage, parsnips, carrots, brussel sprouts were all cooked beautifully. It was served with a large Yorkshire pudding. We asked for various sauces and extra gravy, which took a little while to come, but they were busy and apart from that, the service was good. We ordered two desserts between us. One was treacle tart and the other was ice cream with a coffee sauce I think. Both good. One of our friends is in a wheelchair. He found accessibility to the restaurant and the toilet facilities very good. Everything was in reach. The only thing he did comment on, was the fact that usually when he goes to a restaurant, and today was no exception, is that it’s difficult for him to get his chair close enough to the table because the tables invariably have centre legs. This stops him drawing his wheelchair in close enough to the table, so maybe something for Restauranteurs to consider when adapting their premises for wheelchair users. Overall, our visit was very good and very enjoyable. Would recommend.

Left cold and hungry after a 45min wait outside for food - simple burger and fries order. No outside heating at the tables.

We came here for a Boxing Day meal and we were served by Erin who was vey helpful and dealt with everything accordingly even when had a slight problem she was great.

Lovely meal out with friends. Staff were fab. Tasty food. Would go again.
