The Brampton Halt in Daventry

We had a fantastic time celebrating my Father’s birthday here. The decor looks modern and everything was spotlessly clean. The staff were delightful, welcoming and very friendly. The Sunday Dinner was stunning, with a good amount of well-cooked food. The burgers were also fantastic with the ‘BH’ press on them. The prices were very reasonable for both food and drink. Very impressed and would absolutely return.

Did book but shoved on a table at the back of pub which was dark asked to move was told they were fully booked and only other table they had was worse than that one we were already at - bill expensive for what we had beware 10% service.Don’t think I will be visiting again anytime soon.

I booked the Brampton for a family gender reveal party and was worried about the size of the party as there was 23 of us. All of the food was correct, the service was efficient and everything went perfectly. Our waitress was attentive and made sure there was no stress with the size of the booking. Everyone within the party could not talk highly enough of the food with everything being cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend.

We drove up from Kent to take our daughter out for a nice meal for Tuesday lunchtime but it was anything but! We had to find our own menu’s placed order at the bar then waited just under an hour for starters, the starters were ok but not worth the wait then waited another 25mins for the main meal which was awful, my daughter had chicken supreme which was so dry and the broccoli cold and watery, I had Caesar salad rock hard chicken and so much dressing that was not pleasant, husband had pie which he said was ok. Then sat with half eaten finished plates as the staff walked passed us and cleaned 2 empty tables behind us that had dirty plates and glasses on it from when we first arrived, waited a further 10min for them to take our plates and give us the dessert menus that we gave up and got the bill. My daughter who has autism was really good and patient but still hungry so now in MCDonald’s which is where I’m writing this review from. The Parkin Family

Ordered Pork Gyros and it was terrible. I knew it would be bad because the food came in less than 5 minutes since I placed the order. Salad was off as well as the pork, just reheated.

What a lovely Sunday lunch. Brilliant variety of food and a giant yorkie pud which was all delicious.

Hadn't been for a while as we live some miles away but love this place. So glad that carved lamb is back on the roast menu replacing the lamb "mush" that was being served a while back. Good food (although a little more gravy would not go amiss), great service from a very helpful and pleasant waitress and a nice atmosphere overall. We will be back.

My food order wasn’t the best tasting however the service was brilliant.

Really nice group meal for 13, duck salad was great. Unfortunately got charged for a wine that we had agreed was to be taken off the bill and did not realise until we had left which was frustrating. Great atmosphere, 3pm and the place was lively and preparing for Oktoberfest. Stayed locally for the weekend so not likely to be back, but only for that reason. Friendly server.

We have been here 3 times in the last 2 months and no complaints. The staff are amazing so friendly and helpful food is excellent would highly recommend for families or couples.

I was very happy with the food, atmosphere and generally service was good. However I was very concerned to see serving staff petting dogs then continuing to serve food & drink without washing their hands. I think this is unhygienic and staff really need to be advised not to do this.

It was a lovely afternoon,the weather was lovely and the kids had fun,we was looked after well,our pre order was good,everything came out on time and was hot,all the kids loved there meals,and the waitresses we're great,offering us top up on drinks,I think the only downside was the prices of some of the meals,my 2 brother in law's had a mixed grill,and even tho said it was tasty they couldn't justify why it was £28,as there should have bin alot more there for nearly a £30 meal,and the burger was a little bit small for £17,it needed more to it,but apart from that everything was good.

We booked the Marquee at the Brampton Halt for our wedding reception. Includes a private bar and outside area and the space was perfect! Highly recommend - staff was super organised and so helpful with the planning process and bar service was fast on the day. Food was great, great value for money.

Had the pleasure of transporting Bride, Groom and wedding party to this lovely venue for their reception. Situated on the Northampton and Lamport Preservation Railway. The venue is wonderful. A Lovely array of food outlets a large marquee for use of special occasions. The staff were very welcoming. Very good experience

Awesome pub . We had a small issue with a meal due to being very busy they replaced quickly we spent 200 over two sitting s here on a weekend. Will be coming back . Plus an awesome pint of Birra morietti. 10 out of 10 pub well worth the travel

Room had an Asian curry smell about it . No kettle tea or coffee. Presumably you have to walk back to the bar where cups etc are out , Not made clear & not very helpful first thing in the morning. Uphill &downdale to get cases to the room.

Shame - not a good experience for us had to leave after 1hr 40 mins with hungry grumpy kids as our order was lost... The story: Thought to come here over the bankholiday after visiting the steam trains. Booked a table for 12:00 after the railway visit. Arrived at the pub (was practically empty inside one of the first to be seated for the lunch time serving) at 11:55. Drinks were taken promptly. We were there with 2 kids, 3year old and a 6 year old. 15 mins later drinks arrived then orders were taken. 50mins later I was asking about the starters, to which the staff promplty brought them out. 1hr 10 mins in I started asking about the main course after about 10 mins the waitress came back and said they lost our order. I appreciate it was the bank holiday, we were one of the first ones in the restaurant. There was plenty of opportunity for servers to come round and see that we were not served etc. This is the minimum I would expect from waiting staff in the role. As we were walking out I did a quick head count and there were about 8 waiters/waitressess milling about. When we asked about how could they loose an order the answer came back as "its the bank holiday" and now that we have to re order it would be "a long wait" for food... We cancelled the order and at that point paid and left. So in all 1hr and 20 mins to have a starters and a glass of cola. To the point, had to leave hungry with hungry grumpy kids. I would come back if it is just adults and we can afford to wait, with kids it makes it impossible to keep them entertained and they are hungry for that amount of time. As I said. Shame because the starters were good and I can see this being a great place to dine as per the reviews.

One of the best Sunday roads I've had at a pub. Friendly staff and gorgeous food, good location as well.

We had booked a table for close family after a difficult morning. We arrived very early, with two additional family members, and thought we may have caught staff on the hop but Evie and the rest of the team were on it straight away. Nothing was a problem, tables rearranged, we were seated and drinks ordered. The age of the family varied from mid eighties to eight years of age, Evie and the team were great, trying to lighten the mood, and entertaining our group, whilst the food order was taken. When the food arrived it was very good, and they did not skimp on serving size. With the location and the surroundings you could see how it could get very busy, but as our visit took place during a week day lunchtime it was relatively quiet and we felt that we were looked after very well and will definitely be returning in the future.

Don't normally write these but after such a great meal with excellent service and a really a reasonable price and great selection I thought I would. Highly recommend this place. A cool building with huge out door area and outdoor bar facility. Highly recommend.

Food is delicious as always. Regarding service, the food is taking a little bit longer being served. The staff may say that the food it will be in 15-20 minutes, but it is taking up to 30 minutes. However, it is understandable because the staff are busy and they are trying their best for the customers 😉. Lovely atmosphere, with nice people around. Moreover, the place where Brampton Halt is located it is like heaven 😍, is so special. I would go there over and over again because I dont have enough of that place.

Great place to meet up for a bite to eat or just a drink. Hot summers evening, had booked a table outside, lots of tables on the patio around the central bbq/drinks station, quite a busy place on this occasion. Waitress service at the table which was nice. Ordered lagers and I had London Pride which was a really good pint. My brother and his mrs had brisket and chicken burgers, I had the bbq charcoal grilled 10oz rump ordered medium rare. The burgers were good, both enjoyed them, my steak arrived sliced and topped with chimichurri. I couldn't tell from the taste that my steak was char grilled mainly because there was so much chimichurri it overpowered the flavour of the steak. It was cooked well and was very tender for rump, just couldn't taste the bbq flavour I was hoping for. Thought food was good and service efficient so would return.

Haven't been here for about a year so met friends as a nice location. Can't say the same about the food though! I ordered lasagne from the specials menu. Should have sent it back as soon as it arrived! Tried to eat it to be polite in front of friends but had to say something in the end. The lasagne itself was overcooked, dry and tasteless. The salad advertised with it consisted of lettuce, no sign of a tomato or cucumber or anything resembling a salad at all! The garlic bread was hardly cooked with no garlic?? Our friends were also too polite as their meals were sub standard. The pork belly had so much thick overcooked rock hard crackling on it the meat was non existent. The staff were very polite and offered another meal, which I declined and a free dessert which I did have. How the chef thought it was ok to send these meals out of the kitchen and serve them to a paying customer I don't know!! Also noticed they are already advertising Xmas Day for £100 per person, good luck with that!

Brampton Halt - Well worth a visit. A mid-week treat, online to easily to pre-book a table. A traditional building now a modern pub with large gardens, lots of parking and additional area for that special occasion. Nicely greeted on arrival and seated in a good quiet table indoors. The staff are friendly and polite, they offer a good range of beers & drinks. Excellent food, seasonal menu offered, not forgetting room for a fantastic dessert. Enjoy!

Wonderful evening sitting in the garden. Stunning food and lovely staff. Every member of staff were running around like mad working so hard. Upmost respect for all of them, so hard working and very polite. Thankyou for a lovely spontaneous evening out.

Went for lunch with friends. Very disappointed with my choice of main course. Ordered Fish and Chips with mushy peas, tartar sauce, and curry sauce, which was £17.00!! Not at all impressed, the fish inside the hard batter was non existent. The desertspoonful of mushy peas was cold and to be honest, unappetising. Didn't feel like eating it all, and when the waitress came to our table to ask if everything was okay, I said not really. She went to speak to the chef, and the Manager and I was given an apology. Also, she said I could have the dessert free of charge. On ordering our dessert we asked for Eton Mess and was told it wasn't available, so ordered Chocolate Marquis and when it arrived, there was a merigue on the plate! (Isn't that what is part of an Eton Mess?). Whilst we were there a waitress dropped a side plate on the floor to customers at an adjacent table and another waitress dropped a portion of some sauce at the other table opposite us and it splattered all over the ladies skirt. Will I go there again? I don't think so. The food and drinks are very overpriced - £6.50 for a half pint of lager shandy that one of my friends ordered.

Usually good but it fell well below parr today - probably due to the sunny weather as was really busy - but then isn’t that the job of the management to look ahead and predict? We come here lots as we love the outdoor terrace and the grill, and bring lots of friends and family here when we have guests come to Northampton to visit. Today we ordered the £30 rib eye steak and if I say it would have look the part in a Wetherspoons menu lineup you can probably picture it. Waited an hour to be served a poor meal.

This is a great place. Lovely atmosphere - lively without being moisy and overpowering. Ideal for families and larger groups. The food is great - not haut quisine, but good quality pub food. Very tatsty and a good varaiety of the expected pub grub, The fish and chips is particulalry good. The service was great (even through they were busy - there was a large family birthday party in, and outdoors they were also doing a BBQ). Most important for me, this is a pub. A pub is based on it's beer - good selection of real ales and they were quality.

One of the best BBQ I have ever had. Really off site area with plenty of parking space and outdoor table and shelter. The Onions ring are giant, bigger than any other ones!

I had the seafood tagliatelli... pasta was overcooked and the whole dish hadn't got one grain of salt in it! Absolutely ZERO flavour in the whole meal! Obviously the chefs aren't tasting the food that they are serving! Not good!... FOH service was good and the outdoor area is perfect on a hot day. But that dish was so disappointing...

Haven't been to this pub for several years but decided to call in today for lunch. Food was amazing our party had the Pork belly, fish and chips, burger and nibbles and all was very tasty. Service was slow but the venue was busy and we weren't in any rush and was refreshing to be able to chat for a while before our food arrived so not a problem for us. Staff and venue very welcoming so will definitely be back.

Service was incredibly slow and some of the ordered food never actually made it to our table despite us being charged for it. Trying to get the attention of staff was just not working. It's a shame as they usually do much better than this.

A birthday celebration on the 27th July with a party of 16 people. Food was excellent and brought out in a timely way. Staff were very helpful and welcoming. Very impressed at the service especially for a big group! thank you.

I met a friend for a meal at Brampton. We meet here quite often. We are always warmly welcomed and the food and service is great. This time we did suffer from a large noisy group in the same small area, in close proximity to our table. It seemed odd that, on a quiet evening with quite a few empty areas, this group were squeezed in. Not a complaint but an observation.

Great atmosphere along with great food at a reasonable price was a nice way to spend an evening with my Wife

Garden is exceptional, a perfect place to come on a summers afternoon and enjoy a vibrant atmosphere and lovely views whilst having a drink or some food. Note: BBQ menu comes out at a different time to the main menu so bear this in mind when ordering food as a group!

Busy & loud on a Saturday eve (1830-2000). Food is fine but be prepared to wait between courses. eg 50 mins between mains & dessert.

Terrible. Not sure how a pub can get a standard burger so wrong, but really poor quality food and overpriced.

We came on a lovely evening and it was incredibly busy - full garden and inside and a wedding on. The kitchen didn’t know our preorders despite it being emailed twice. Food took a long time to come.

I organised a 60th birthday meal with Lilly who did amazing with helping from booking to the big day making sure we got all our food at the same time and helped...

Appearance place is stunning. In a lovely location, staff welcoming before we got seated. But throughout eating the meals, there was no meal check on us. what was manly disappointing the price of the food to the quality. Food is well presented but taste and what was put with it was bad. Starter: the Arancini came out with blobs of mayo on top was not a good mix. Main meal: stake had no seasoning and was over cooked, chicken was dry and very chewy with burnt edges, onion rings batter was lovely but the onions were very soggy so was not a nice mix. The chips were cooks and tasted lovely. Was very disappointed as this is the first bad experience we have had dining here.

Ate herea week ago, had a distinctly poor experience. I don't like leaving bad reviews but I've tried to contact them by phone and email and, after a week, I have no response. As a last resort, I can only post this and suggest that this place can be variable and, when you're not happy, they simply don't care.

We had lunch for 18 people on Sunday for my son’s 21st Birthday. The food was great and the service was second to none. We also love the pub and its outdoor facilities too. Thank you for making Ed’s day special.

Thanks Brampton Halt for making our birthday celebration so special in The Marquee. A special thanks to the event manager Sadie and bar staff Lily who made everything run so smoothly. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend as a venue and would definitely use them again!

We came for lunch on 04/07/24 . Midweek 2 mothers and 2 daughters. We found the restaurant warm comfortable with excellent food and service.definitely recommend Brampton Halt.2 of us had belly pork and our daughters had Paninis with chips. Delicious.

Came here on Saturday as a surprise birthday lunch. Party of 14 including small children. Was greeted by Becky and shown to our table. Very attentive young lady nothing was too much trouble for her. Also other team members very friendly and helpful. Overall a very good experience. Food all delivered at the same time. Would not hesitate to return. Well done. Massive improvement with staff, food and premises on how it used to be. Thanks Becky and team for looking after us.

Reserved table and was shown there. It took quite some time to order drinks even though it was not that busy. The brixworth pate was lovely but the weird stale bread it was served with was awful. Again the burgers were lovely but arrived with no slaw - we had to ask for this. Just a bit sloppy service and lack of care when plating up.

Came here because of a colleague’s recommendation and opted for lunch. I had the mixed grill and my wife had a trout salad. We were both really pleased with our choices. Finished off with a white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake and a flat white which was also a good choice. The venue itself is beautiful and well maintained, it’s obvious that the staff take pride in their jobs as they were efficient and really friendly. We will definitely be visiting again and can’t wait!

My daughter chose Brampton Halt as a Birthday Treat for her 11th Birthday. The helpful and attentive staff gave us our own garden room when they knew It was my daughter's Birthday, with generally excellent service. Pork belly was just perfect and the Girls loved their Burger. It was all topped off, by the staff bringing the dessert, with a candle and singing happy birthday. Great staff, excellent atmosphere and lovely food. We will be back!

Came here for dinner with family and couldn’t fault it from start to finish. Great views of a gorgeous lake setting modern interior and clean toilets. All the staff were amazing and couldn’t have been more attentive to our large group. Our drinks were kept full the food was delicious and great for the people who didn’t want a Sunday dinner with the additional options. Can’t wait for our next visit and would definitely recommend!

Was our first family trip to eat at Brampton halt today and what a perfect experience it was! The staff were amazing, came and greeted me and my family and took us to a table, got drinks right away and not a long wait on the food which was delicious, the beef was cooked perfect as was everything else. The staff really made me and my family feel so welcome. We left extremely satisfied and full. 10/10 recommend! We will definitely be back.

If I gave you five stars you may not keep up your excellent standards. Food is top notch, and I must go when the trains are running. Update June 2024. Went for our wedding anniversary, had a starter each and something from the BBQ grill. Eyes were bigger than my stomach, had the pate followed by the brisket burger, and shared a plates of nachos. Only one word to describe it AWESOME.

Came for dinner with friends and a lovely summer evening but it was packed and noisy. Service was slow, we were missing items and waited ages for them to come out. Shame as the food was good when it did arrive. We ordered a bottle of house white but were given a £31 bottle of wine, it wasn't even that good! I certainly would not have ordered that. It's not the staffs fault, they were so busy. Not sure what the answer is, more staff? Less covers? I think next time I come back it'll be during the day.

We had Sunday roast which was lovely. But the potatoes were not fresh, you could tell that they had been heated up and the meal wasn’t warm enough. The staff are lovely, friendly and helpful.

Went for lunch, we had the ploughman's platter and it was delicious and plenty for 2 people to share. Good selection of food and drink, and the staff were excellent.

We went to this well recommended pub restaurant for lunch with friends. I regret to report that we endured the worst experience I can recall having in a restaurant. Having been shown to our table, we ordered drinks (two of the three bitters were unavailable). We chose from the menu then waited...... After about an hour, at the point of us deciding to leave, our starters arrived without explanation or apology for the delay. Some were lukewarm. Then, after another very long delay, the main courses arrived. My sea bass had clearly been ready for some time as it was dry and just warm. Two of my companions had fish and chips. The chips were undercooked. I sent my meal back. Its replacement was fine. In the end we decided to speak to the manager. She was full of apologies and did not charge us for our food. In summary; long delays, poor food, bad service. It will be a long time, or never, before I return.

The prices weren’t great whatsoever. I had 3 people of my family (including me) visit this restaurant on a Sunday. A child’s meal was £9, however when it arrived, all she got was vegetables (which was fine), chicken, about 3 small roast potatoes and a huge Yorkshire pudding. However, the amount of chicken she received was tiny. She got 3 small pieces of chicken. In comparison to the Yorkshire pudding, there was quite a difference. Altogether, for us 3, it cost almost £70. We had no dessert. The atmosphere was lovely, however the food wasn’t up to my standards and didn’t taste as nice as I would’ve liked. We got a side of cheesy garlic bread for what I think was around £4.50-£5 and it was 2 medium sized bread, that was quite greasy and didn’t taste wonderful at all, it also came about 5-10 minutes later than the rest of our meal. The service was okay overall, however it did take quite a long time for everything, and it did seem rushed. It’s a lovely place, but it hasn’t been my favourite restaurant to eat at unfortunately.
