The Brampton Halt in Daventry

This was the first time I had been. I had come with my family after spending a lovely time on the train. Going in it looked promising. It was very busy being a bank Holiday Monday, and a very long wait for food. But if you are going to have that many people eating I think the restaurant needs to prepare for that. The food was disappointing. I had the vegetarian option, the ragu, rice and foccacia, which didn't taste of much to be honest and I didn't like the bread. My sister said her potatoes tasted as if they had been heated up and nothing was really that tasty. No one came to check to ask if our meal was OK and we had to hunt someone down to pay. The phone in the restaurant was constantly ringing, which was annoying. A loud, busy pub, with below average food. A shame as it has so much potential.

We had Easter Sunday meal and was really disappointing. We had guests visiting from abroad. Meal arrived cold , potato’s were roasted ages ago tasted cold and no flavour. We were told they don’t have coliflower cheese to go with Sunday roast. I was shocked that Traditional English pub could possibly serve that … sad

It's a bit pricey for drinks, didn't eat but menu looks pricey for what is is.

The food we have had at the Brampton Halt has always been good. The only thing that ruins a Sunday lunch for me are the Yorkshire pudding. They always taste close to burnt and have a bitter taste. If they get that right I would give 5 stars for the food x

Meeting friends for an evening meal. Service less than satisfactory. Prices on menu different to price charged. No explanation. Poor response to request for condiments. Food not particularly great for price. Overall not a good experience.

Didn't get my booking confirmed one way or the other. After numerous attempts to phone I finally got an answer an hour and three quarters before my requested reservation to find out they were fully booked. Not a very helpful booking service!!!

This pub has a fantastic atmosphere and a wonderful setting/decor (a former railway stationmaster's house), and is arguably the most dog-friendly pub I've ever visited. The food was also fabulous; very tasty, filling, and particularly great value on the lunchtime set menu! I booked for a celebration retirement meal for my husband. Booked for 17 people. Service and food was excellent we had a lovely time. Our waitress was brilliant (sorry I can't remember name).

Not sure who was responsible for a perthetic show of a breakfast with the princess 40.00 for my daughter's 2 girls. Where to start meet and greet someone greeted us looking harassed and to busy to acknowledge us she had pen and paper to tick us off. no princess to greet.for what was paid it was the least you could do. 1 women managing the whole thing and didnt seem to know when prinsess would arrive. Got to the table 1 bottle of tap water and 1 blackcurrant between a table of 8-10 children. Waited for cold pancakes with a bit of strawberry 4 raspberries had to ask for syrup. Then a piece of colouring paper and a few old used crayons a small bag of tasteless popcorn with a couple of small cooking marshmallows nothing until the 3 princesses turned up at 11.15 late. A few songs a glitter tattoo then time to go. I was fuming what happened to the enchanted transformed marquee and meet and greet then you charged £12.00 for 2 bacon and egg rolls. Others were very unhappy with what we got and how it was advertised definitely would not recommend this. It's not worth the money.

Everything time my friend and I come here it never let's us down. Breakfast fantastic and alot .... for lunch omg food always great hot and didn't really wait gave us time to catch up with the world... somethings expensive but when you get great food and service its worth it .. the surroundings beautiful

We had our wedding reception in the stunning Marquee this week. The food was exceptional, everyone commented on how great it was. Extremely good value for money, we couldn't find anything even close by comparison in the area but there was no compromise on the quality of our day at all. The private bar inside the marquee is a great addition and we were kept super warm by the heating despite it being a cold day. Everything was cleared up for us ready for us to collect the next morning so we didn't have to worry about that at the end of our night. Definitely a hidden gem and somewhere to be considered by every couple looking for their venue in the area. Thank you for a wonderful day.

Great atmosphere in a lovely setting. Food was first class... Lovely waitress.. All in all made our family get-together special. Thank you

I held my birthday in the marquee and could not have been happier with the space! A private bar, a dancefloor and they helped me book a DJ so it was perfect. I opted for the hog roast but I know they do all different kinds of food packages so if you’re looking for somewhere to have an event, this is the one! Organising large events can be really stressful but I was put at ease straight away when I met the team and they helped me plan my birthday! Definitely would recommend!

We always love coming here, staff are friendly, it’s always busy so you should book. We had lamb shoulder and shicken (vg) kebab which were both amazing. Will always return.

Visited in early March to celebrate my friend’s birthday. We were a party of 6 and it was our first visit. Lovely looking place with plenty of parking. We did enjoy all the food although it was very slow to arrive. The waitress and waiter that took and delivered our order were very pleasant. However we had a different lady when we came to pay and that’s where things went a bit wrong! When we asked for the bill, no bill arrived, just this lady with the payment machine. Never before have I not been given a bill at a restaurant! She just announced the total and would we like to split it 6 ways. My friend started to explain that we had had different things so would each like to pay for our own. This lady then said that it didn’t matter and that however you spilt the bill it always ends up about what you would have paid anyway. At this point I had to say in front of everyone that I had only had one course and one drink (others had had 3 courses and multiple drinks) so this wouldn’t be the case. Pretty embarrassing as money is a bit tight for me at the moment and that was the reason for not ordering more. This lady rather huffed as it’s obviously more hassle for her to split the bill this way. She then asked me loudly how much of my payment was for the food and how much was the tip. She did the same to my friend who had to repeat twice that she just wanted to pay X amount. By the time she got to the third person it was so embarrassing that he just put the whole of the rest on his card and that he would sort it out with the others later. I’ve never had an experience like that before when paying a bill in a restaurant. It wouldn’t put me off going there again but next time we will ask to see the bill and bring cash!

Lovely warm welcome from Lauren, all staff are friendly. Food is always really nice with excellent menu choice. Good value for money. Nice atmosphere for a cosy meal or drink :)

We have eaten here twice before in the bar area because we had a dog but this time no dog so we ate in the restaurant. We were by the kitchen so don't feel we had a true experience of the restaurant, but the food was very good and the service was friendly although the drinks took a long time and my drink was wrong and I sent it back and was going to be charged for it until I had it corrected on the bill. I would still highly recommend this pub and we would go again soon , it's very busy on a Saturday evening and we think there was a wedding reception going on .

Visited for a late Sunday lunch and things not as I remember having not been here for a while. The Sunday roast chicken no longer a half chicken. Replaced by chicken supreme. So overall the food was fine but service was a little slow, tables and menus were sticky and in need of a good wipe down. It just seems standards have slumped here and sadly compared with other similar pubs in the area made it not high up in our revisit list. Shame

Lovely Sunday lunch for 10 of us. Food was hot and plentiful, lovely deserts. Excellent friendly service. Nice surroundings and plenty of parking.

My wife and I visited for an anniversary meal and although we had not booked in advance, the attentive staff found us a table very quickly, despite it being a busy Sunday afternoon. Excellent service, tasty food and particularly impressed by Yvette there, who went out of her way to make us feel welcome. Would definitely recommend and we plan to return again soon.

We had a party of 23 and we were charged a service charge of 50 pounds despite having to wait an hour for our food. Won't go again. Food was good though.

Great service, friendly staff who were very accommodating whilst planning my wife’s 30th. Throughly enjoyed ourselves Megan, Becky, Evie and the team did a fantastic job hosting and looking after our large party. Can’t wait to re-visit again soon.

Good place to park, go for a long walk and return for something to eat and drink. The pot of tea was great - if a little expensive at £3, but considering the ample parking was a bargain overall.

Burn's Night supper- absolutely delicious.

Booked a table last minute and requested a quiet corner if possible due to my child with ASD. They were absolutely amazing and put us in a section where they had no one else seated and assured us that no one else would be seated there. Allowing my son to enjoy his meal without people watching or judging his actions. They were really attentive and absolutely amazing with my children. Cannot thank them enough for enabling my son to have a fantastic experience. We will be back

I've been visiting this pub off and on for the last 12 years, as my family has grown, we have come to appreciate this pub more and more. The atmosphere is absolutely great as soon as you walk through the door. It's just so welcoming. The bar is incredibly stocked with vast amounts of drinks. In the summer there is a huge outside space for families. The restaurant offers a good selection of items. You simply can not go wrong. The food is excellent, the staff are no different. On our last visit (7 people) we had 2 courses, drinks. £265, Inc. service charges. It was worth every penny. I would urge anyone to try this place. You will not be disappointed.

We recently experienced Brampton Halt—and were impressed by the lovely atmosphere and great modern decor. The service was excellent, friendly, and remarkably attentive to our needs. Nice place. Fast service. Our waiter were so funny and lovely Kate kept us smiling and made sure we don't need any drinks or anything missing. Made sure also our bill was correct and when we found a mistake she corrected it fast. Overall was lovely time. We will visit again

Had Christmas dinner at the Brampton Halt today and what a wonderful experience we had. The staff were wonderful, happy and jolly with nothing too much trouble and the food was outstanding from canapés right through to dessert. Definitely going to book again next year. Thank you to everyone of the staff.

My husband and I greatly enjoyed the best ever Christmas lunch today. Everything was first class, right from being greeted with sparkling wine, to amazing appetisers, Duck starters which was absolutely delicious, sorbet, Amazing Turkey dinner and tasty Christmas pudding.. hats off to the chefs, waitresses, Waiters and the whole team.. WELL DONE 👏👏👏🌟

Waited over an hour after ordering our meals then the waitress informed us that she had ripped our order of her pad and thrown it away. Did reorder and when the food came it was excellent but don’t go if your in a hurry.

Huge thank you to the Team at Brampton Halt for our excellent group christmas dinner last weekend. There was over 20 of us, including little ones and nothing was too much hassle from the moment we arrived. Megan was really helpful in arranging the deposit and food order leading up to the day and the food did not disappoint. Big hits - Xmas burger and the poached pear dessert. Kitchen did a fab job as always and the service was superb. Due to the size of the group, we had a lovely long table in the marquee area. It was really pretty and I'd definitely recommend this for large parties/group events. The marquee has its own mini bar, sound system and dancefloor - although we didn't need or use these this time. Ample parking on site for large numbers too. We've chosen Brampton Halt for our annual christmas meal several times over the years and this was the best yet. Will definitely come again! Called in after a long walk along the railway lines and watching steam trains. Only had a 4 x Ciabatta but they were very tasty served with coleslaw and chips well worth a visit

Lovely pub and great menu all set in a perfect location

Absolutely lovely. Six of us (brothers and sister with our respective 'other halves') met up for an early pre- Christmas get together and exchange of presents. Our waitress was most friendly and attentive to our needs, the food was both delicious and well presented. Living so far away, I cannot pretend to say that I'll be a regular diner, but I'll be more than happy for the six of us to meet up here again in the future. Btw, I enjoyed the best venison dish (it was a special today) that I have had in a very long time. We were all very pleased and impressed - I recommend this restaurant very highly.

Lovely location and roomy establishment although thats the highlights. Only one member of staff on during late afternoon sitting. The wait to beseated, orders taken, served meals was ridiculously long. Took over 1/2 hr for requested table water to arrived and two hours for two courses. Had to cancel dessert as we’d had to leave and couldnt wait any longer. Not sure what it would be like if it was busy! To quote ‘if i wait any longer for food i’ll have to start eating the table’

i came into the halt today for a drink and what i assume was a manger (as he was wearing his own clothes) was mistreating his staff, came across as quite rude towards the customers and overall it just wasn’t a very nice experience.

Attended a private function for a friends 70th. Held in the marquee....Great atmosphere well decorated and food service excellent.

First time been here since lockdown. Gets very busy Sunday Lunchtime, but service OK atmosphere OK food very good. Would recommend booking in advance. Will revisit in the summer.

Stopped on our way home for a meal with friends. The staff seated us quickly and were very pleasant and prompt with menus. Drinks arrived shortly after and we placed our food orders. Some of our party were vegans and they were impressed with the range of vegan options which the staff member explained very well. Once ordered the food arrived quickly and was delicious. We were all left with no room for deserts! The pub is very well set out and the gardens and outdoor seating is lovely and a train enthusiasts dream. We would highly recommend Brampton Holt for any occasion

We use this establishment quite often but was disgusted with the bar service today. Popped in lunchtime today with my wife for a drink. The bartender didn't speak english very well and was quite rude. My wife wanted a glass of Port. The bartender didn't...

Our visit was very muddled. I asked for a gluten free menu; there wasn’t one, just a menu with some biro notes on it (I’d had a look online so I knew there was gluten free choices, or gluten free alternatives available). Firstly, our drinks...

Sadly we waited quite some time for our meals. Then one was incorrect. So had to be cooked and meant that one of the party ate after the others. Then the bill was incorrect as overpayment. No apologies for errors. Have frequent visits but feel it will be a while before we return. Disappointed.

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, salt free dishes, gluten free food. They have an accessible toilet. They get are busy at weekends.

Extremely disappointing, going downhill fast…..awful new Sunday menu. No lamb roast, roast beef still on the menu but ran out by 7:30pm. Only cabbage and carrots included no broccoli and it would seem although root vegetables are included, there were none on our plates. Now you have to purchase vegetables separately. Overall you get less for your cash on the new menu. Unpleasant visit and won’t be back.

Me and my partner cannot recommend this place enough. The setting is lovely, the food and drink is great, and the staff are amazing. Big thanks to Megan , hadie, but a massive shout out to Kate Nelson who is massive asset to this establishment. Keep up the good work everyone

Had special party meal for sister and brother in laws Anniversary. Staff could not have been more helpful and food delicious .

Beautiful country pub great atmosphere and friendly staff

Visited the halt several times (lunch,drinks and evening meals)whist in area with wife and family. The building is oldie world, very pretty and very comfortable inside. The beer gardens are exceptional, the range of beers very good and meals also very good and reasonably priced.

Lovely pub with good food, coffee and a nice setting both inside and outside. The lake and garden area are truly nice with good weather

Lovely Sunday roast! Lamb was beautiful, as were all of the sides. Not the cheapest but very good quality! Definitely worth a trip back!

Had the burger, was well over cooked, portion sizes have reduced by a lot but prices have risen by a lot, £16 is well overpriced compared to most of the competition. Will be a long time before we go back.

Trying to ring and no answer. And sounded like in one occasion somebody picked up the phone and put it down. Been trying to ring from early all throughout to late and still no answer! And nothing on website about the Oktoberfest. I would like to know the dates of this years ( 2023 ) Oktoberfest!!!

Awesome venue - amazing country setting , great food and atmosphere and they also have live music events that are definitely well worth going to. My favourite pub in Northampton !

Lovely food at reasonable prices. Haven't been here for years. There are a lot of changes but all for the better. Staff are very friendly.

Had whitebait to start which was lovely, waited a long time for mains, 45 mins had to ask where they were as tables were getting served that arrived after us, waitress was apologetic and our fish and chips arrived 5 mins later, the fish was lovely but the chips were luke warm. We would go back and try again as it was a lovely setting.

This pub has become our go-to spot whenever we're in town visiting family, and it's not just because of the excellent food and staff. We've developed a bit of a tradition here – we may or may not have collected a few of their unique glasses as keepsakes over the years. 🍻 It's a testament to how much we enjoy this place. The atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food make it a must-visit every time we're in town.

Great little gem when staying at Sedgebrook hall. Lovely food, great drinks and plenty of options. Evee behind the bar is great with anyone who graces her bar. Come stay enjoy yourself inside and out.

I really like this place, the outdoor seating is fantastic and there’s a well rounded choice alcoholic drinks. I was spoilt for choice on draft. The food menu isn’t overwhelming which I like (I think more kitchens should take this approach- do fewer things, but do them well). Unfortunately the food didn’t come out as described for 8 of the 15 people in our party, the waiter just said sorry we are busy and dropped the plates on the table. Being hungry we just accepted it. Chef letting the whole place down.

Had Sunday roast, very disappointing, potatoes not nice, veg poor. Meat was OK though. Puddings overpriced and not good.

Service at the bar is quite slow due to only 2 people behind the bar. So they are also taking food orders. If you're just after a pint I think you can order at the table via a QR code. We didn't notice this until we were leaving. Good atmosphere.

This was me and my wife's first visit here But from the moment. we walked in you would have thought we were regulars the staff were so pleasant and welcoming. The drinks menu was just fantastic a good choice for all The food menu was lacking in choice but the food you choose was ample and well presented (look like it was plated for you not just tossed on a plate)

We have stopped there for a Sunday roast. They have very nice garden with a pond at the bottom. Music was played by the DJ. Food was nice and atmosphere even better.

Stopped for lunch and hadn't booked. Got a table with no problems. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious, well made and presented. We had roast beef ciabbata sandwiches and fries. Our daughter had the roast chicken and bacon ciabbata. Would definitely go again.

Last few times put it this way good for a drink all very nice food becomes complicated and last experiences three times have been poor I suggest just have a burger easier to accept
