really friendly staff. Ocean was great despite me using the drive through and ordering at the pick up window haha. coffee was really good and perked me up for my long drive to london

Stopped for a quick bite and a rest stop and was amazed at the friendliness of the Costa staff (namely Tom and Luz) for such an early morning they were absolutely delightful and I would recommend the place solely on the customer service. Please reward these staff members as they are a true testament to excellent training and awesome customer service. Thanks Tom and Luz for making a pit stop an experience.

Came to pick up goody bag collection 7pm received e mail at 6.26pm cancelled collection. I appreciate that tgtg is about not wasting food and it's great that store didn't have wasteage. But supposed to be informed 2hours before pick up not half an hour. Waste of time and money going to store.

We go to Costa every Monday following a trip from Bedford everyone the food and drink is piping hot and staff so friendly especially the lady with pink hair always happy

If I was the owner of this business I'd feel like a moron for employing 5 staff to be manning one of three counters. The staff then allow a gaggle of customers who have already paid to guess which end of the long counter their coffee is going to be brought to, where a gormless worker will meekly say what they are holding, look up and down the gaggle of confused and irritated customers expecting them to hear them and come forward. If Costa wasn't blowing so much money on pointless staff then maybe they wouldn't be charging so much for a cup of murky water.

it is clear that they do not depend on a regular clientele, as theyu are assured a steady stream of customers walking in continously, they don't need to care about customer service as there will be plenty of new people walking in daily. Perhaps it is because we came on a Sunday, but the service was atrocious, with very long waiting time and queues, even though there were 3 or 4 people standing behind the coffee machine, it was quite evident that they were not experienced and did not have much of a clue. I assume that they use students, particularly on Sundays. Besides the very poor customer service, the place is hugely overpriced. OK, this is a Service Station, where I know prices are much higher than anywhere else, but this is just ridiculous, charged £ 2.35 for two biscuits. Never again!

Two awful attempts at a flat white. The first was a large cup of almost solid foam, so thick that a stirrer stood up in it, almost no liquid. When I asked for a replacement coffee, a got another large paper cup of super-heated froth with bitter coffee in the bottom. Sadly both went in the bin. Definitely not barista coffee. Definitely not worth the price. Just awful. Just don’t !

Stopped off for lunch on our journey to the National Arboretum. Staff were excellent. Good service. Although we only had a sandwich it was hot and tasty. Would recommend. Unfortunately the whole experience was ruined by a mindless imbecile who keyed my car. I think is was a guy in his 20’s who asked if we had a wheel nut wrench. “I hope you are pleased with what you did” you worthless scum bag

The lady serving on the counter on 28/07/2023 around 23.15 was super nice. We’re just starting our holiday and she was so lovely, friendly and helpful. Absolute credit to the company.

Not busy, served by a polite but seemingly untrained lad. Paninis were barely warm and had to have new ones. Mocha served in a glass? Never had that before either. Didn't take the order properly and gave us cake in a bag instead of on a plate. Not the best

Baristas not paying attention chatting away to people and giving me an awful watery latte that cost me £4.80!!!!

Stopped on our way down to Oxford. Weather was lovely And warm and decided to have an iced tea. Didn’t fancy anything on the menu so the 2 ladies serving at Costa today very kindly made my mother and I iced tea with lemon. Nothing was too much trouble.

On a day trip from Nottingham to St Albans the coach stopped here for a brief stop The Costa had proper cups so that was a good start The staff were very welcoming and helpful and made a good cup of coffee

We stopped here for morning coffee on our way to St Albans. Very good service & coffee as usual, in proper pot cups which we like. We were on our way to a Vintage Fair being held in the town centre.

On our way home from a short break in Eastbourne we stopped for a coffee and a toilet break after a long journey on the M25 & the M1 The place was reasonably clean and the coffee was hot and very welcome The staff were very friendly and attentive

Not happy as stopped her for Costa Coffee. This Costa does not supply Pot cups for your coffee. Terrible that you have to have the polystyrene cups. We stopped at Toddington 3 days ago & got proper cups there. !!!!

Better than average for most motorway services. The Costa Coffee outlet was a good one. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The coffee was up to the usual good Costa standard and there was plenty of seating available.

Clean easy to find open great hours and plenty of variety. Decent prices and absolutely great staff. Mentioned the tables appeared to have been missed on a clean and they came out straight away and sorted it and apologised for that error superb customer service always at its best rhe staff here are at the top of their game well chosen employees.

The drive through was good, although a couple of items weren’t available.

Terribly slow, only 3 on a long queue, even then they have to recheck the order. Perhaps you need to pay more to attract better or more staff.?

Customer service here is inconsistent, used to have a couple of good staff members. However, got served by Julia today and she seemed so miserable! No welcome or thank you as she served me.

With friendly, helpful staff and coffee up to the usual Costa standard, this is is good to place to stop while driving on the M1.

Looks like a brand new drive through unit beside the carpark. Incredibly slow service, Got the latte then the ladies both started working together on the coolers we ordered. From eventual order to driving off took at least 15 minutes, bearing in mind there was only 1 car in front it was 20 minutes from pulling up to driving off. Nice drinks, though I'm not sure they knew what to do as asked us about the latte.

In these trying times the Costa Coffee at the M1 Watford Gap Services is a very good place to stop for a break from motorway driving. The staff are friendly and helpful, the coffee is up to the usual good Costa standard and they have made your coffee buying experience as Covid safe as possible. Masks must be (and are) worn, there's a clearly marked one-way system, the floor is marked for social distancing and contactless payment is used.

Just an express machine at the moment(28/04/21) inside WH Smith. But the coffee hit the spot!

As a first timer with a cup of Mocha from the Costa machine on an M1 service area, I can honestly say, it was blooming delicious! 😁☕ - I'll be back 😆

It was convenient to stop here. Not too busy and we like the coffee. Sometimes the choice of cakes and sandwiches are limited. But we needed a break.

I feel for these outlets in these difficult times, but the prices are high and the service slow compared to regular outlets.

Very friendly staff in a non-enviable job. The seating area was clean, comfortable and well looked after. The food was `motorway` convenience but the bacon, sausage and egg toastie was very tasty and well received. The coffee, as always, was good. Much better than all the other `greasy spoon` shops on offer it is a place I would definitely use again.

This is the worst Costa coffee I have ever been too, dirty unorganized and the staff are so rude, the girl with the tattoos has no manners at all and practically threw the coffee over me. The manager didn't give a toss and was like I'm sorry but can you see we're busy well sorry if you're busy employ more staff. I spend a fortune at Costa but now I think it's time for a change and I'm going to start using Starbucks all because of this.

Cups are dirty, tables dirty, tea was just about warm enough to brew. Staff were friendly though. Location better that most motorway services.

Costa coffee is probably my favourite coffee 'on the go' or in a cafe. However, although I use this quite often when up & down the M1, the service never improves. The Staff are pleasant enough but do lack finesse. I have to ask everyone for things such as a cutlery or serviettes. They are very slow to clear tables and today, the girl came to clear a mountain of dirty cups, etc but left the spillage and other rubbish on the table! After 25 minutes I departed and she still hadn't come back to clean it!!!!!

Waited half an hour for a coffee here today, queue wasn't that long and loads of staff. Run so so poorly and incredibly disorganized. Staff were friendly but where was the manager?

Thia Costa is very expensive compared with other Costa I have visited. A Small Latte will cost you £3.20 compared with usual £2.15. Other prices are similarly extortionate.

Had two of the best coffee ever here this morning And the two great looking girls working were very professional Very convenient- you pull up in the car park and the drive through is waiting

Just a usual Costa. Nothing special. Use too much plastic when they don't need to.

M1 was busy so stopped here for a coffee. No queue and friendly staff. £2 for two small biscuits is outrageous though especially considering yesterday in Waitrose I bought a packet of Waitrose finest hand picked chocolate and walnut hand crafted slow baked biscuits wrapped in an expensive foiled packaging and transported to Waitrose in a climate controlled Mercedes for £1.65.

This is on the service area near the door with its usual offerings of excellent coffee, but cakes, savouries are a bit pricey

Ordered tea, after I took lid from the cup off I was surprised. The lid was so dirty, how disgusting!

I've been there few times, as I work nearby. Prices are ridiculous (motorway prices), but it's not employees fault. Real reason why they got only one star is their customers service, actually I was served by a manager today (which I don't want to disclose full name in public-yes she had a full name on her name tag), and I was shocked. Wanted to pay with my Costa app, had more than enough money in it, she took my money from the account and said that I haven't paid, where I had a proof of it on my Costa card statement. I was told to pay "with real money"... How unpleasant, especially for a loyal Costa customer. To give you an overview of my situation. I was a barista for nearly three years in one of the coffee chains. I was trained that customer is always right and I have always tried to resolve these sort of situations by offering free coffee or a snack, anything to keep customer happy, just because a happy customer is a non complaing customer. Bear in mind that cost of a coffee is very low!! It cost about £0.20 to do a simple latte!!!! Well I did not had my coffee today, as you can see!

Rude staff, not asking eat in or take away so they put the cake in to paper bag. After I told I am eating in she said she can just leave in the bag because it is stick on paper. (How can I eat anyway). So she finally gave me another cake. I paid with voucher but I did not get the receipt. Just additional she forgot her smile home. Bad experience.

Called in for a coffee on the way up the M1, very friendly staff member, great coffee as usual and no queue - bonus.

As always good coffee and a good range of food. Costa is a reliable outlet no matter whether on motorways or in town.

Pulled in the services to use the facilities and decided to have a coffee, expensive and not what you expect from normal Costa - but to late to return as back on motorway, coffee luck warm and expensive. Wont use again

Ridiculously over priced. We come from London where you would expect to pay a premium price, not half way up the M1.
