Middlemore Farm in Daventry

Went as a group to celebrate a colleagues birthday some had never been there before and they were impressed with the look of the place and the food was lovely. We will all be back there again in June to celebrate another birthday.

Gutted. Used to love this place. First time back for a while at time of writing. Both my wife and I's burgers were burnt to cinders. The prices have gone up a lot too. Leaving this so hopefully they see this and something can be done to fix it. Otherwise I doubt I'll be coming back. Didn't complain on the day as wife doesn't like confrontation.

Have only just started using here again after 3 year abstention, it had improved considerably until today!!! Seated and ready to order we are told the kitchen is closed for another half hour for maintenance. A bit annoyed we decided to wait to then be told Chardonnay wine is no longer on the drinks menu. WHAT!!!!!! Paul, in light of your comments I have removed some of my review as it is a bit unfair on you for something that is out of your control, however... 1. I am aware that your staff have had "several complaint's" about the removal. 2.I have made my feelings known on your Raise the Bar survey as well as Marston's Lets Go Out forum. 3. Considering 1 above should you not be providing feedback to HO as well? Finally, I had a table for 5 booked at 6pm on the 27th for my Birthday. Three of the group are Chardonnay only drinkers so through no fault of yours I will be cancelling the booking. Please feel free to show this review to HO to whom I will be making a direct complaint too. Sorry I cannot improve the rating for you by much as so far our recent past dealings with Middlemore have been very good overall.

Only just started using this place again after 3+ years and until today a vast improvement. There was a food delay of half an hour due to maintenance, a bit inconvenient but no real problem so we went to order our drinks. Apparently Chardonnay white wine has been removed from all outlets drinks menu, according to our waiter. As this is the only wine my wife can drink, we left and spent our £80 elsewhere. Whoever the numpty at head office is that made this decision, they want sacking. Wheres the logic in removing one of the most popular white wines? Marston's management is so far out of touch with customers they need, as I said, removing and let someone who knows what they are doing run the business. I think after almost 40 years in the pub trade I know what I am talking about.

We had a great time on Monday, Glen was our server and was very efficient and entertaining at the same time. Whilst we were a large group of 8, plus dog he kept checking on us and renewing drinks as well as keeping us informed about our food order which took slightly longer as 5 of us had ordered a special which were well worth waiting for! We have often visited Middlemore in the past, including holding my fathers wake there exactly a year ago on that Monday so it was so lovely that we as a family were Welcomed back and looked after so well.

Always friendly with good food and staff who are prepared to go that extra mile to ensure your visit is enjoyable. If you have any food intolerances then I would not hesitate to recommend Middlemore farm.

We had a lovely welcome by the lady with the pink hair who had just come back from holiday, she was really friendly and chatty which we liked. The food was great, I had the chicken and chorizo flat bread and hubby had the signature burger and both meals were delicious, hot and great value. We will definitely be coming back!

We came for Sunday for lunch you had none, I had steak but very gristly, the desert took over an hour to deliver , not a good way to celebrate my birthday at all .

1st time in the Middlemoor, and won’t be the last. The service was excellent, and we were served by Taylor who had a good knowledge, when asked questions about the menu. I had the Lamp hock, and the whole meal was perfectly cooked, and the Busque Burnt Cheesecake for dessert, which was really nice. The pub is dog friendly, and even has a barrel of fresh water, at the entrance for your dog. We cannot recommend this pub/restaurant enough, the hock was probably the best pub meal I’ve had.

The waiting staff were friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Unfortunately one of the starters was rather bland (prawn cocktail) with very little dressing, whilst one of the main courses was similarly lacking taste as the kitchen had run out of the accompanying sauce (pan fried sea bass) and the fish was very small.

Excellent food and service, we were served by Taylor who was very knowledgeable, about the menu. There was 4 in our group, and each had a different meal and dessert. I chose the Lamb Hock, and it was superb. We would highly recommend this restaurant to our family and friends. And we can’t wait to go back for another selection, from their menu. Really nice family pub nothing is to much trouble for the staff and very friendly. Food is excellent definitely recommended the roast dinners and can even take your dogs.

Had a great meal here recently! Devon looked after us, from start to finish and the service was flawless. Would highly recommend.

As last visit, service remains very poor. It was so slow this time that all six of us wanted a dessert but it got to 10pm and it was too late! That happened at Christmas too. Really offputting and it loses the company a lot of money.

We are a regular visitor to Middlemore and find that food is very much hit & miss. However it’s a lovely pub, nice & warm so still use it. However we went for food this week and the food was really poor & bar person quite rude. We asked about the dog water barrel next to bar as was empty (was also empty at weekend) he replied in a grumpy voice “I don’t know, wouldn’t have a clue”. We ordered a beef burger for our dog which was very burned & dry. My daughter ordered gammon which came with a very over done egg, chips & no peas. I ordered a side of fries at £3.50 & there was probs a couple of handfuls if that! So sorry Middlemore, really not impressed!

We came as a family of 9 yesterday for mothers day. All the roasts and puddings the adults had were all delicious The children's meals were hot and portion size was big. Service and atmosphere were also good. Great value for money.

Never been before and decided to travel a bit of a distance to meet parents there and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was really good and were a really good size. Roast dinner was excellent, starters and desserts were also really good. Service was excellent with all of the staff, especially Jemma going out of their way to help even though it was extremely busy. Finally the way the old barn has been converted is really good. Nice and cosy, clean and with clean toilets. All in all a good trip and I will be back.

Visited Middlemore Farm for Mothers Day lunch with the family and we all had the roast dinner. It was absolutely fantastic, perfectly cooked meat, veg and Yorkshire puddings were amazing! Staff were friendly and attentive, couldn't be any more hospitable. Will definitely visit again and recommend the Sunday roasts! My only regret was not taking photos, we tucked in without thinking!

Great quality food and great service. The starters delicious but the pate needed more toast for the price, main meals good size and good choice of drinks but quite pricey. Lovely atmosphere. Although busy good timings on meals.

Not our first visit, but the last for some time. Waited for 50 minutes from food order to arrival, way too long given it wasn’t busy. Never asked if we enjoyed it, never approached to check drinks need (we were ready after a 30 minute wait) and at payment, again not asked by any of three staff if everything was okay. Very basic service training and not evident. Pleasant staff, no issues there, anfield once it arrived the food was okay, apart from a diabolical Cheesy Garlic bread with no apparent garlic, negligible cheese, and dry as a bone. Not impressed - get some basic service training in place please!

Just had a poor experience here ordered 3 meals 1 was fish n chips. The fish was over cooked so we sent it back they did bring out another fish and chips which was also over cooked. The food was bad but the response from the staff was awful no apology. They did say I didn’t have to pay for the fish n chips which I thought was obvious as they hadn’t supplied it. No apology. We had to complain and suggest as our event had not gone well we didn’t think it was fair that we should pay. They voided the bill so 2 feed people 1 no food but no payment. The manager couldn’t be bothered to see us or try to help. I know this poor review will be ignored by them, I’m also sure they won’t care that I won’t be back. Very sad experience for what is a pretty straightforward British meal

The menu has changed, the portions are smaller, the salad is just leaves not even varied and no tomatoes. Not really what I would call salad!! The staff were all great but when we complained they said they had to follow instructions from above regarding the salad.

We came for lunch on our way somewhere else but my word, it was the best pub grub I have tasted in a long long time and the staff were attentive and very friendly. I am looking forward to the next time I am going somewhere else and need to stop for lunch!!

Busy Sunday, had the best service from a lady called Gemma excellent customer service friendly and helpful despite how busy she was, she made sure all the customers in the restaurant were happy, very attentive. Food was lovely, told maybe a wait but didn’t wait long at all. Lovely afternoon with my family.

Impromptu Sunday lunch today. Gemma and the team made the visit a great experience all round. Lovely old farm building in the middle of a housing estate so quite unusual. Nice atmosphere and plenty of room for bigger parties.

Lovely venue, great atmosphere but really really busy. Staff coped well but there was a wee delay in ordering. Fab food when arrived and as we were there later place got quieter. Would recommend and if here again will visit.

Visited Middlemore last night, and was overjoyed to see Rachel back on front of house. Rachel is always welcoming and efficient, she gives great fast service and always remembers my tipple. I wish her every success in the kitchen, I know she will do a great job.

Rachel who works behind the bar but sadly going to the kitchen was amazing, very friendly, very attentive and has a great ability to up sell....I'm sure she will shine on the chef side of the business we will miss you on the bar

A family lunch for an 80th birthday for 20 people was hosted and it went really well. The food service was great and the food quality was good. The pre-order worked really well. Everyone had a lovely afternoon.

I was in the Daventry area meeting up with some old work friends for the weekend and typical blokes we didn't think about booking somewhere for the 6 of us to eat on the Saturday night. One of the guy's mentioned that he had eaten at the Middlemore Farm previously and had an excellent meal there. . So off we went to chance our luck as I guessed they would be busy being peak time. . We were greeted by Paul the General Manager who sorted us out with a table while we had a beer in the bar. . That started our evening off perfectly. A waitress came and seated us and asked if we wanted some more beers while we looked at the menu, as you might guess 6 beers headed our way within minutes. Our food order was swiftly taken, I think we all ordered steaks and of course a couple of bottles of merlot to wash them down. . The food arrived fairly quickly considering there place was busy. The steaks were well presented, hot and delicious. The red wine gravy that I had with mine was amazing and they chunky chips were the best I've tasted in a long time. Overall myself and my friends couldn't fault the service and the food quality excelled my expectations. The pub is well presented, clean and has a great feel. The Manager seems to have a great team that can't do enough for you. We shall be back again the next time we meet up and we promise to book next time.

We came to middlemore on Christmas Day, which was an experience! So we decided to come back so I could show my mum and dad what middlemore is normally like. The food today was amazing!!! Our family came to Middlemore Farm to celebrate my great grandads 90th birthday. Firstly the food, Service and staff were amazing! We had a great time, and they also welcome dogs which was amazing. On this occasion we were quite a large family (25+), so pre ordered meals before we arrived. Our meals came pretty promptly and there wasn’t one complaint. The food was absolutely delicious! We regularly eat here for family birthdays/events as this place never disappoints. 100% recommend MiddleMore Farm, atmosphere is always lovely and calm, and the food/staff are always great, you can also bring your pooch which is the cherry on top. Will defo be returning! Thank you:)

Just had a family roast dinner here to celebrate my Dads 90th birthday 🥳 there were 28 of us and the food and service were excellent! Staff were very respectful of my Dad and made it a very special occasion, 😊 we will be back . Kathy from Rugby

Lovely converted barn into a beautiful restaurant/pub. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. I had the Sunday roast and the portion size was incredible and very delicious. The manager I think her name is Jennifer with the pink hair is so bubbly friendly and helpful. Highly recommended 5*****

went here this afternoon, tried the roast turkey for the first time, was absolutely impressed with the food the service was brilliant, super friendly staff. The food didn’t take long to come out at all the pub feels really welcoming and I couldn’t recommend the Sunday roast enough! and the food in general. Our server tim was brilliant really friendly and helpful.

Average at best. The service was slow and we were never once followed up on offering drinks, and then staff forgot to offer condiments with the mains. We had to then flag staff down, as the food was burned and overcooked. Which whilst was accepted by the waitress, the replacements arrived when others had finished food. Honestly disappointed with the pub and service as having read the reviews we had hoped this would be our new meet up venue for family get togethers. Not to be.

We went for pre ordered Boxing Day dinner ,five people. Food was presented nice but not hot. Dessert came out one at a time. We waited 10mins for the last dessert. Took 2 and half hours to get food in all. They were very short staffed. There was no apology when we arrived for a delay in serving food. Fortunately we weren’t in a rush but it did leave us feeling very let down. The manager was very short tempered too with the staff. There was an apology at the end of our meal. We cancelled New Year’s Eve meal and won’t be dining at Middlemore Farm too soon! Atmosphere not at all great with staff!!

Great lunchtime experience at Middlemore Farm for 7 of us .All the staff were friendly . The Table was set and ready for us . We ordered the festive menu. Food arrived in a timely fashion and there was plenty of it . Compliments to the chef as the food arrived hot . Very good value . Really enjoyed . Thank you everyone

Christmas day dinner. What a mess! Over 3 hours we were there in total!!! We were not at the table we booked and nearly 1 hour wait for our pre booked starters to come out. Not 1 single acknowledgment or apology the entire time. The manager was spoken to politely a couple of times over the hours to ask when we would get food, he dismissed any discussion and offered no apology at all - that felt the worst part for us! Even if busy, at least a little 'sorry' and 'thank you for waiting' while putting the food down would've been better than nothing. The table next to us had only had their starter in the 3 hours! So many tables of people sat with nothing. Because we had paid prior to the day we didn't just want to leave and lose all our money - but we regreted booking to go there. Very disappointed in the main - some of the food was over cooked, the potatos were undercooked and all was boarding on cold. We had one tiny ball of what should have been stuffing but was burnt and not nice. The turkey seemed like it wasn't fresh- probably processed? For nearly £70 a head I definitely expected better! Starter and dessert were nice. People become frustrated and angry and still no acknowledgement or apology - the waitress had a really difficult time with a table being agressive and the manager was no where to be seen during that to offer her his support and try to defuse the situation. I know it was busy and staff challenges but the lack of apology or offer of a drink or something while we wait just felt careless and rude. We were getting our own drinks at the bar and clearing our own glasses back to them. Ate our dessert with all the main dishes still on the table. Honestly so disappointed and really took the joy away from that part of Christmas day!

We came here as family for Christmas eve dinner, as my sister lives locally and said her family really love the place. We were not disappointed! Our server was a really lovely lady who couldn't do enough for us, and everything we ordered was delicious....

Booked 6ppl for Christmas Dinner, was booked in for 2 45pm, waited half hour to be told our table wasn't ready as people had only just got their dinner, everyone we spoke to had waited over a hour just for starter, we ended up getting...

The food has always been good here, and since new management has taken over it has got even better. The staff here are also very good, always a good experience here!

Terrible service. Waited for a long time to be served our drinks, the waiters and waitresses were too busy chatting. When we managed to find a table to drink at, it was filthy and covered with the last customers plates and cups which were never collected. I had to clean it all up myself as nobody helped for the 2 hours we were there. Do not recommend

The food was delicious, and the staff were very accommodating when we asked to be moved to a more quiet location. Definitely recommend!

Waiter was so friendly and chatty. Really helpful and just lovely to talk to. Food came pretty quick and was delicious as always. Portions are amazing for the price. I come every few months to catch up with my friend and it’s just such a lovely, cozy place to sit and relax

Food was decent but the service/wait time was abysmal. Not enough staff to cater for two large party bookings.

Booked for 13.00, meal finally arrived one hour 10 minutes later after chasing how long it would be. Now 15.15 and our plates have not been cleared and we have not had anyone to ask if we wanted anymore drinks or like deserts. An apology...

Food was OK, if a bit pretentious for my taste and not cheap either. Dessert was rather a let down, sounded great on the menu, even at £7.25, but was nothing special at all. I'd happily come back for another family get together meal, but wouldn't bother otherwise.

I was overwhelmed with the birthday card left on our table for me, wishing me a happy birthday and offer of a free drink or dessert. Little touches like these made the night. The service was very pleasant and friendly and the pie was exceptional. Thank you. Gina Adamou

Loved the atmosphere of the pub the food was great and service fast and efficient car park was a little tight to manage but it is only a small car park. Will definitely come back
