Cornerstone Restaurant

Caol and Mallaig, Highland
01/11/2018: A bit tricky trying to establish when they open but once inside an excellent well presented meal. Not a large choice of menu but together with specials there is a varied choice of food. Very friendly and very cleanly appointed. Definitely recommended but do check opening times in advance.
27/10/2018: Had lunch here with the family. Fish and chips, Cullen Skink and mussels were excellent! Service was impeccable, and desserts went down a treat with the kids too. The restaurant gets filled up quickly as soon as the Jacobite Steam Train comes in from Fort William, so they normally don't take bookings at those times.

LochLeven Seafood Cafe

Fort William and Ardnamurchan, Highland
11/12/2018: Jag och en vän åt middag här efter en tuff dag i de högländska bergen.
25/11/2018: Brilliant food! The seafood is amazingly fresh and tasty. The 3 course children’s menu is also very good. And to top it all, the view from the dining area is awesome!

Kishorn Seafood Bar

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh, Highland
18/11/2018: Stopped here for lunch and the food was excellent , very fresh . Service also excellent. Would recommend, in fact cant wait to return.
17/11/2018: After hearing lots of good reviews, I was really keen to visit the seafood bar, but have to say I was a little disappointed.I asked about the portion size as was trying to decide whether to have a starter first and was advised it was 3 large scallops so decided just to have a main. When it arrived, the scallops were chopped up and didn't look like 3 scallops. It was very tasty, as was the salad and bread that came with it, but I was a little disappointed with the portion size and the price. On the plus side, the lemon tart was excellent as was the coffee. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and a lovely view looking towards the bay.

The Seafood Restaurant

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh, Highland
26/11/2018: The lady from our hotel booked us a table here and we were so glad she was able to reserve for us. Everything here was excellent! And who would think that there’s a restaurant from a very far place not everyone knows of with a magnificent cuisine! Michelin should review this place!
12/10/2018: Visited on a Tuesday night. This is a small, intimate little restaurant. We called around 6pm and got a reservation for 8:15 pm. Service was friendly and good. We shared two appetizers. The squid was perfectly battered and amazing as was the mushroom dish. I had the haddock and my brother had the mussels and scallops. Everything was prepared and presented perfectly and very flavorful and pleasing to the palate.

Stromness and South Isles, Orkney Islands
06/11/2018: An efficient and comfortable service. There is food available on board, the breakfast is good, and the fish are chips looked great. Sleeping accommodation is fine and I would recommend sleeping on board if you are on the first sailing from Orkney

Portknockie Fish and Chip Shop

Keith and Cullen, Moray
11/11/2018: We rent out a holiday cottage in Portknockie and at the top of our list of things to do is “ must try our local fish and chip shop”. I’m pleased to say most do and are in agreement,,,DELICIOUS ! Thank you for providing a great asset to a wonderful little fishing village.
07/11/2018: Visited this establishment on 2 occasions during a week spent in a cottage in Portknockie. On each occasion the food served was excellent and freshly made.

Crannog Seafood Restaurant

Fort William and Ardnamurchan, Highland, 45-60£
14/12/2018: I had a lovely meal there with my husband. The atmosphere was good and the food was really tasty and well presented. Everyone was very friendly. Booking is a must as it was really busy the night we visited and every time we went past it!
11/12/2018: Most recent visit did not surprise! Top quality seafood and hospitality. Always happy to spend time here. Slightly pricey when compared to some others but a grand place to treat yourself!

The Anchorage

Na Hearadh agus Ceann a Deas nan Loch, Eilean Siar
03/12/2018: Ein gutes Restaurant direkt am Hafen von Leverburgh. Supper leckeres Essen mit freundlichem Personal. Leider ist das Restaurant wie das meiste auf Harris Sonntags geschlossen.
18/11/2018: Travelling in the Western Isles in winter you'll discover that a lot of restaurants are taking their annual break and are closed so it's great to see The Anchorage bucking the trend and staying open for a few days a week. The Anchorage serves great pub/bistro style food and the seafood in particular is worthy of note. This is what to come for as it surely can't get any fresher with the Sound of Harris being meters away from the window. We love it and will be back.

Buth Bheag

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh, Highland, <20£
01/10/2018: Delicious fresh , locally sourced fish, scallops, prawns.crab and stock Manuela's bread too. Sandwiches available too. If the boats can't go out range of fish limited. You can't get fresher than that. Fabulous wee place.
19/09/2018: Dropped in here as read the reviews. Small place with a couple of friendly staff. Helped is out with what to choose had a couple of rolls with crab and salmon, excellent. Took away some prawn tails to cook for dinner, They told us how easy it was to do, salmon and dressed crab went in the bag too. Very well priced, get there early as they sell out quick.

The oystercatcher

Tain and Easter Ross, Highland
30/10/2018: If I was to die today (which, hopefully I won't) I would do so knowing I had enjoyed the greatest seafood on offer in a pure, unmolested way. Having previously eaten at some of the so called best places in the World, I can honestly say this is the only one I would travel 9 hours again to visit. Quirky, welcoming, warm and slightly indulgent in a very relaxing environment. You can eat whilst listening to the ocean caressing the shoreline, the same ocean that has given up its fruits to fill your plate. If heaven has a seafood restaurant it is The Oystercatcher.
23/09/2018: Haven’t been here for a couple of years sadly and booked for early Saturday dinner with friends it was amazing. Lovely homemade bread and a selection of amazing butters and olives. Lovely touches of Cullen Skink soup. Prawns cooked over hot potatoes, sorbet. Starters of scallops so tasty, oysters fab and venison pate. Mains of sole. Lobster, lamb just so tasty. Duck fat chips the best I have ever tasted. Desserts were to die for and lovely coffee and petit fours. Excellent service the host and chef must just love cooking and hosting as it was all amazing. Value for money?? You bet!!! Can’t wait to return

Linda's Fish and Chips

Keith and Cullen, Moray
01/11/2018: We’ve called her a couple of times now, en route between Inverness and Aberdeen, and can honestly say the fish and chips are superb and the best between the 2 places. We’ve had the battered and breaded versions and they’re both lovely.
28/10/2018: Stopped to have fish and chips. Ate in the cafe. Food was lovely. The childs portion's were ample. Fish and chips were lovely. Just surprised there was only haddock and no cod.

The Boatshed Restaurant

Steòrnabhagh a Deas, Eilean Siar
11/11/2018: Visited last night and we both really enjoyed our meal. Warm welcome, discrete but helpful staff, and a gorgeous meal. Really enjoyed it and I’m not easily pleased. So well done to all and thank you.
03/11/2018: Not somewhere I go but, I was great and what made it was the service. Hope we are back there for a cheeky lunch and a few Drams Christmas 2018

The Captain's Galley

Thurso, Highland
20/11/2018: We were met by Mary who led us into a lounge where we had a great chat over a drink and then went through to our table where we had the best fish dishes we have ever had the hake and monkfish paella being out of this world it was great to meet Jim after dinner to compliment him on his(self taught) skills, the whole evening was so friendly, relaxing, and one we will always remember also meeting Beau the lab was a treat.
11/11/2018: Having read all the amazing reviews on the Captain's Galley on Trip Advisor, whilst at Thurso, Caithness, we booked a table for 3 prior to attending. This is a smallish restaurant and it is highly advisable to prebook a table. As a matter of fact, the evening we attended Mary had to turn away quite a few customers who had not prebooked. The Captain's Galley is a fairly smallish restaurant (it used to be a place where ice was stocked) and somewhere to go on a special occasion or as a treat as prices are not cheap. Mary was a very warm and gracious hostess. Whilst waiting for our table, she led us to a cosy reception room where we were asked to select our dinner choices over a pre-dinner drink. The food is exceptional with some very good local choices (fish, seafood, lamb), the desserts were sublime. This restaurant is opposite the harbour in Scrabster and about 25 minutes walk if you wish to walk from Thurso. Otherwise, there are public buses from Thurso going towards Scrabster harbour. Our son joined us from Glasgow and he was as delighted with the experience as we were. If we ever return back to that part of Scotland, we will most certainly be returning back for lunch or dinner.

Shieldaig Bar and Coastal Kitchen

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh, Highland
25/10/2018: My wife and I have been travelling through the Highlands for over 3 weeks and I have to say that this was our favorite place to eat! I had the traditional haggis and it was good, of course. She ordered the fish and chips and we were both blown away. It was half a side of haddock on top of the hand cut awesome chips. It was unreal for quantity and quality. We are from Maine in the USA and are used to fresh fish, but this was the best we've ever had.
22/10/2018: We had the best fish and chips of our trip here. Great views too! This is a great little town on the coast.

Orosay inn

Barraigh, Bhatarsaigh, Eirisgeigh agus Uibhist a Deas, Eilean Siar
20/10/2018: Poor quality of food and service. Great views in the restaurant, pity the food and service was in stark contract. Avoid!
04/10/2018: We were staying close to Orosay Inn so it only seemed right that we paid them a visit. We were not disappointed. Fresh food served with local knowledge of where it was sourced. I had Monk fish scampi and my partner had venison, which, melted in the mouth.
