An oasis in the desert of feeding options in South Harris. The food on offer is nothing short of excellent and says a lot about the dedication and effort put in by those who operate this wee shop. One week in Northton and we returned time after time - watch out as items sell out fast - why? Because they are that good...

Not much on offer when we visited but it’s the start of the season so that’s to be expected, and the pasty we did have was excellent. Hope to return when it’s more stocked!

Go clutching a rolled-up £20 note, leave with an armful of delicious treats - we got freshly steamed langoustine, soup and scones and they were the most delicious thing we had while on Harris. Go early, take cash and marvel at your good fortune at getting your tea from this honesty shop.

I love this place. There is a traditional of honesty boxes in this region, for everything from eggs to fresh scallops. You open up the box, see what is there and leave your money in the honesty box. Here, you are doing that for gorgeous baked goods, langoustine quiche, crab curry and other delights. You could pick up an entire day's food for the family here but you would have to come early as it is popular and usually sold out by late morning. Another example of how Harris has made a name for itself with higher end tourism and not the usual caravan and chippy experience. A fine dining treat in a northern paradise.

Delighted by the range of tasty food sold, pasties, curry, soup and baking, with the butteriest pastry ever. They even accept paypal if no cash on hand. Great work Croft 36!

Another year and another opportunity to visit and sample more of Croft 36 delights. Where do I start, great scones, almond tart's, fresh bread or even the lovely butteries 'Scottish Croissants' and of course the opportunity to have beautiful fresh langoustines were such a bonus this year - how lucky were we! Great soup and of course Pizza. This year we visited with family and they too loved Croft 36 and no doubt will be a regular too. Many thanks to Julie for everything yet again - sister says thanks again for her lovely picture and we hope you enjoyed your visit to Glasgow :) Hope to see you next year ...

We discovered this little hut on line and we went there, it was busy so we waited a couple of minutes for a parking spot. We purchased buteries, strawberry custard tart and veggie curry pastie. All were delicious and we were so pleased. Love the story behind this business and the honour box.

This was a fantastic wee find near Scarista beach at Northton! Delicious takeaway hut with an honesty box offering a selection of home cooked food. This included wholesome meals such as fish pie and fish curry or picnic delights such as homemade pasties, cheese scones and langoustine soup. We felt the latter would have been at home in Michelin restaurant - a soup similar to lobster bisque with a wonderful depth of flavour. Occasionally there are local langoustines and squat lobster too… all ready to take away and eat on the beach! Croft 36 also does lovely seaweed bags for baths which is relaxing and great for the skin. Overall, a real must when on Harris! But go quick - the goodies come out around 11am and can run out fast :)

After some research, this was a must for our visit to the Isle of Harris. What an amazing little hut full of delicious homemade food. The pasties, beignets & croissants were delicious. They had a great selection to choose from, with an honesty box or PayPal to pay. Such a hidden gem on the island which is a must do!

This little hut is an absolute gem. With few places to eat on Harris you can guarantee a range of beautifully cooked treats from this honesty shop. The curried vegetable pasties and frangipane tarts were superb. I just wish I could make pastry like that.

We had seen Croft36 advertised on Facebook so when in the area we dropped in to have a look. It was late on a Friday afternoon but even so there was plenty to tempt us. The shop is a hut in front of the croft and operates on an honesty basis. Everything is clearly labelled with ingredients and allergy information, its well priced and most of all - delicious! We bought some butteries (think salty croissants, lovely warmed up), a couple of frangipanes and some scones. There are facilities to make take away hot drinks or homemade soups. They also had homemade curries and stews to buy which we will be back for. Super place, tasty homemade food, what else do you want?

We ate at the Uig Sands twice. Once as a cafe for soup and once for an evening meal. We absolutely loved the experience and it wrapped up and end of a magical week On Harris and Lewis. The food was fairly simple and not fussed about with, but was high quality produce, cooked extremely well. Best Scallops Ive had anywhere and these chefs know how to season their food. Front of house was near impeccable. Attentive, relaxed and friendly. Sadly the fixed menu had finished as the restaurant was about to finish its season, but the choices were good and balanced.

We came across this place as it was recommended on North Harbour restaurant’s Facebook page and boy we were not disappointed! We had the lobster and chorizo bisque and scallops to start- both of which were out of this world. For mains we had fish, which was fresh and beautifully presented and the venison steak which was so soft and juicy. Ginger and date pudding was a glutinous extra but we couldn’t resist how good it looked on a neighbouring table - fluffy, tasty and rich. :) We can’t wait to come back already!

All you want from a fish and chip shop. Very generous portion of fresh fish (cooked to order) and chips for a very reasonable price. Wish i had had the opportunity to try some of the other options. Efficient service. Great value!
