Almost inedible chewy fish with very thick gooey undercooked batter. The chips taste like they are reheated from the day before and often cold. This used to be a great chippy a few years ago but has gone greatly downhill. Dirty looking shop and staff quite rude, the service is terrible. Never again !

Used to go here all the time but it's gone downhill Had a piece of fish that was all sloppy/thick batter and as a result pretty gross. Mentioned it to the guys and they just said 'oh' and shouted out back 'not happy with batter' and then that was it Wont be back - there are better chippies in Stamford

Walked in and half the ceiling was missing, dust everywhere, it says 5 star hygiene rating on the door”really?”. The place needs shutting down! Bought fish and chips twice with mush peas,it was nearly £30,tiny bit of fish with cold and hard leftover chips,it would be cheaper to have a sit down meal somewhere nice, this place has gone down hill rapidly. Spend your hard earned pennies somewhere else folks because can’t see this place being opened for much longer! Such a shame as it used to be the best in Boston:(definitely won’t be back!

The best freshly cooked fish and chips I have had for a very long time. Definitely worth a visit but be prepared to wait, it is so worth it though. Very well organised queuing system so you dont get missed. All the staff are really lovely and friendly, even “Little Miss Shouty” calling out the numbers. Please don’t change a thing, it’s just perfect for a traditional fish and chip supper. 10/10

After all the hype I thought I’d try Umbertos. Ordered fish chips and gravy, and steak pudding chips and peas. Lovely old fashioned beef dripping chips, homemade gravy was ok but just tasted like regular chippy gravy. Steak pudding was enormous and hubby loved it. My fish was average sized and was ok. Overall pleasant and edible

We have been frequenting here for approx 2 years until today! I would like to say we come here approx once/twice a monthly! Since the “makeover” it’s gone downhill drastically and we will not be returning. The last few times we have had to encourage salt/vinegar etc to our selections which is basically the same every time. On the last visit after requesting “putting” my own salt/vinegar as i like more than the average person, was nearly the last straw as he advised sit down and ill do it the lad with the mop-style hair cut didn’t bother as was to much hassle and when i asked did you do it sorta mumbled under his breath no i forgot so i pulled him up and he said your mashing up my paper. So todays visit in nutshell “repeatedly” due to last visit as in my opinion food is decent in local area “until” today asked by “mems” to dit down and he understood i wanted to do my own salt/vinegar asked sauces etc/salad. Order was 1x medium lamb donner, 1x chicken shish medium, 1x portion chips at least 4x times i advised i would salt/vingar to my taste, 2x garlic 2x chilli sauce, 2x cokes, 2x salads Got home and had 1x donner, 1x shish, 2x cokes, no sauce/no salad , phoned up and he spoke to “chef mop head” advised on next visit to say speak to “mems” for some advice. No let me ping you a little back as its right thing to do and will “mems” be there who ever he is. Advice is DONT use here down road by coop new kebab shop “saw bridge charcoal grill” Last visit today free advice get rid of chef with no hearing or understanding of customer service i.e mop head guessing family member or shop will diminish . Photos of what “kebab” served minus salad/sauces from shop

My second visit to The Lightship and it was just as fabulous as the first time. It's such a unique dining experience and as you step onto the old ship the space is really well thought out, the interior design is beautiful. We enjoyed Duck Bon Bons, Feta Parcels, Pork and Rib Eye followed by Espresso Martinis and dessert. Service was attentive and friendly, thankfully we were blessed with a beautiful evening to sit on deck too. Can't wait to go back again next summer.
