Friendly barmaid quick service good beer.nice landlord. Dirty looks from a certain local. Everyone knows this idiot! I'm a old man everytime I come in he eyeballs me why i dont know weird!!! He won't stop me coming in though!

Busy seems ok place to have a drink but difficult to strike up conversation if you not a regular which I understand... But in my opinion a nice place for a drink. Can get a bit cramped. So maybe not ideal for a date etc ..

Great pint, great staff and friendly locals. What's not to like?

What a super pub/hotel. We booked one night only fearing lack of entertainment in the area , but totally wrong and wished we had stayed 2 nights. Rye has loads to offer in way of different individual shops. The venues to eat are enormous..around every corner something for everyone. The rooms are unique and sufficiently up to date as much as possible bearing in mind the age of the surroundings. Wow the breakfast ! Fantastic let me tell you. With a limited amount of space they certainly make the most of it. Varied menu means all ages and people types can be satisfied here. The Restaurant Manager held all aspects together and every wish is met with calm expertise. Thanks you will see us again.

Seemed very much like a locals pub. But interesting all the same. Tucked away. Lots of room Definitely worth checking out.

Awesome pub, great landlord and good beer selection

Popped in on a Sunday afternoon. Asked for a dry rose, was offered zinfandel which is sweet. Ordered 2 rum and cokes, the mixer was diet so tasted gross. Will try again in the summer as the garden looks really nice.

I use mermaid more than I use to clearly I can say I enjoy the benefits of clean pumps and sitting in a spot or two I always have used . The public are straight people everyone has good attatudes also arne the landlord is a good freind and chatty

Fond memories this pub always had the best lock-in's at Christmas and new year that's over 30 years ago and the mermaid has still got plenty of life left in her yet enjoy

Tables are really out of level here! Makes for an unenjoyable visit if I’m honest. To be honest I was unhappy with this table and moved to another one. Review pending on the second table.

Not very clean, looked quite run down. Beer was good and sky sports on the screens was great though.

The Mermaid has an interesting exterior and is run as a community pub. Sadly no real ale is available/ Plenty of screens for watching sport.

Always a welcome good beer, pool and bar billiards as well as darts, good friendly staff, Arnie the landlord works hard to make you at ease, so go!

First time in..although very quiet but that was due to the weather..I must add fantastic pool table..landlady very nice and found it welcoming

Went on a raining night, debating Neptune & Prawn and the Mermaid. We a very happy we went to Mermaid, as our appertizers were amazing! Salt and pepper Shrimp and Chili Shrimp, with a goat cheese salad. Amazing! Our main dish was a Seafood Thermdur.....WOW and WOW. Our service was superb. They worked as a well oiled team and we were very pleased. A must return.

Great traditional boozer. Well kept keg and cask beer. Pool table and darts. Awesome Thai food at sensible prices. Cash only.

Such a great little stop. Had some amazing gin Cocktails. Bought some Gin and had a tour and talk about the Distillery. Great if you are a Gin lover.

went in to purchase takeaway. We were ignored for 10 minutes whilst bar maid fiddled around infront of us for 10 minute's making no eye contact...not serving i hasten to add! eventually left and went for usual chinese . wont bother again and i would imagine they will not remain in business for very long!!!

A perfect local, if you're wondering where to find one still, these days.

Great Thai food in a back street Pompey pub, had a takeaway and couldn t fault it very authentic and tasty corn cakes starter and Pad Thai prawn noodles 😊

I went for a party and it was just a long wait I don't know why anyone would go there again and I'm very mad . I wouldn't do again.

A party of us went for a birthday celebration. The very long wait for awful food ruined the evening. We were given a voucher which we should not have accepted as it nowhere near covered the cost of the food we didn't eat! Service bad too. Never been back since & would never go again!
