Excell Fish Bar in Portsmouth

Ordered food which kept being pushed back on timescale. Waited over an hour with a pointless phone number they never answer. Rings and goes to BT answer phone. Absolutely useless as we enjoyed using this Fish & Chips. Never again Cannot comment on atmosphere. Waste of time.

Once the old boy retired at the hilsea fish bar , I have moved to excel as I didn’t rate the new Turkish owned one . The fish and chips here are much better , good portion sizes and cooked to perfection. These are my new go too . Can’t wait to go again !

The scampi and cod were both extremely overcooked and the chips came with so much oil. I will however order from here one more time to see if it’s better next time as I always like to give 2 chances.

Chips were warm but not hot hot. BUT the fish was cooked perfectly 👌

Food as Normal is good but what I don't understand is when I order it says delivery in 30 mins fine that's why I ordered but every time I checked on app delivery was put back and ended up being over 90 mins from ordering and it's less than 2 miles from me needs to improve

part of the food was very overcooked ( It wasn’t cremated but not far off) this hasn’t happened before and we have used this chip shop many times, We are disappointed because this food was obviously not up to standard and shouldn’t have been served.

Despite the slightly greasy soggy looks, the Fish was v.tasty with good texture ....as were the chips. Overall an enjoyable treat. Delivery was well packaged too.

Chips were pretty ok, pickled onion wasn't keen on, the cod batter was burnt, so overall it was ok for a quick bite to eat, the milkshake was about the best thing.

no stars. delivered someone else's order from a different restaurant. we have someone elses order and assume they have ours. they had realised they had the wrong order and left it in the porch and buggered off

Ordered at 19:14 it took 56 mins from placed order to accept order was then delivered at 20:20 . Communication is key , food was hot and delightful

I’ve used this chip shop on and off for 30+ years. Slowly over time the quality’s gone downhill. Tonight has hit the point of no return for me. Such a shame, as it used to be by far the best in Portsmouth. Scrappy burnt chips mixed with greasy bruised ones.

I didn’t get my order so really not happy

Chips nice, fish was greasy (plus ordered 2 and only received one. Instead the cod was substituted with a fish cake) took 2 hours to be delivered. Delivery time changed 4 times and was unable to complain because the time kept changing. Although food was alright I will not be ordering again.

I ordered for asap delivery at 6pm my order came at 7.50pm.

The food is always fantastic from here. They were very busy and we had a wait for our food but the communication on progress was good and the food is worth the wait

Great fish and chips at great prices! Always go here for their cod bites and amazing portion size, we get 1 portion to share between too and still struggle to finish them.

Having used excel for a few years, the fish was good, but the chips were scrappy this time, normally I would give 100% but sorry to say not this time, and it wasn’t hot , usually it is, don’t know if it was because it was brought by bike maybe , and the delivery person hovering for a tip

Delivered me the wrong food refused a refund, I ordered 30 pounds worth food I had a small chip and a cod turn and NEVER SNSEER THEIR PHONE !!

I popped in to get a single bit of fish purely to make a toast to my mum. Everywhere my mum went she had fish and chips, anyway I can honestly say this is the worst bit of fish I've ever had in my life. It was disgusting, skin still on it and not fried to make it crisp. Absolutely will never ever set foot in this place again, it was shocking.

Excellent, their chips are always nice and brown,well cooked,large portion sizes,even a kids chips is too many for one person. 😀,and swift delivery.

Fish was over cooked and very greasy, chips were also over cooked and comprised mainly of scrappy bits of potato. I won't be using them again!

Ordered large chips £4.10 & not enough chips for two people, let alone three. Very disappointed 😞 Not sure if mistake by supplier or if, in fact they have changed there portioning

Worse fish and chips ever tasted. Looked awful. Cold chips. Soggy batter and whatever was in the pea fritter made it almost inedible

I ordered Cod and Chips and it was absolutely horrid. It was probably ok the first time it was cooked but the fish batter was greasy and very, very overcooked, I think if I'd tried to eat it I'd probably have cracked a tooth. Chips weren't a lot better, lucky my bins not as fussy as I am!!

Onions were dark brown over cooked, same for the scampi, the chips were to many for a small bag, and soggy,

The food order took 2 hours to be delivered it was for 1 large chips, a kids chips, a fish cake and a sausage! Absolutely awful, it turned up cold and shrivelled! Tried calling to chase when the order was and then when it was delivered, it rang and rang then went to answerphone! Not good enough! I would not recommend and will never use them again!!

Always our go to for fish & chips, delivery guy cycled it across the city and was still nice and hot! Will not disappoint

Really awful, thick and overcooked batter surrounding fish which didn't seem very fresh to me. Also mint added to the pea fritter, yuk! Chips were greasy too. All round very poor.
