Absolutely delicious! Fresh, piping hot fish cooked perfectly and the chips also! So impressed with the quality ,reasonable prices and generous portions...superb!!🤗

Food is tasty but I don’t know why yesterday after taking food I am suffering diarrhea it’s not main think one Staff his attitude very very bad I see , one old just eats delivery driver with him unnecessary argument and rude behaviour with him. sometimes this staff rude attitude with their customer I think he come to work after taking alcohol. so bebecarefull when this person work in restaurant no need to talking extra. very unhealthy Food & last week after take food from this restaurant i was suffering severe diarrhoea. In this restaurant one of the male staff is very very idiot & his attitude is very bad. I noticed he always rude rude behave with his customer.

Last weekend we had the pleasure of dining @ Ocean Fresh for the first time . I must say it was a fantastic experience from warm and welcoming greeting to finish. The Owner, Mass , who was incredibly friendly, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Fish and chips was great and just the right amount of crispy and we were impressed with the quality of the ingredients. Aside from the delicious food, was the reasonable pricing. Ocean Fresh definitely delivers great value for your money. We will definitely come Back or take advantage of delivery . Thanks Mass

Never buy from here if u r a vegetarian or vegan When they cook the meat ie sausage or any other none vegetarian things they put the cooked meat with the cooked chips .until the customers come in .

Have been coming to this place for around 25 years on and off, it's changed hands around 4 or 5 times in that space. Current Persian owner is very good and looks after his customers, the chips and food are nice as always

What a joyful find was this wee chip shop. As a native Glaswegian on tour, with chip shop work experience under my belt, I’m a wee bit fussy about my fish. Picture this, 6 hours in the car, heatwave, kids tired, hubby hangry… an hour to go till the ferry queue even opens. We were driving around Portsmouth doing some admin jobs, and had just filled our tank at the petrol station across the road, when we stumbled across this unassuming little chippie. Multiple choices of fish, and kids meals available. I spot a deep fried mars bar on the menu and strike up conversation with the owner. He’s been in fish and chips for 20years- previously at a neighbouring shop, and now here. He tells me proudly that he sources his fish from UK waters. He’s used the same supplier for years, a family business run by 3 generations. He can get his fish a third of the price from China, half price from Norway or Germany, but this fish, this fish is worth the money. You know what, he was right. Tender, flaky cod in a perfect crispy batter. No skimping on the salt and vinegar. I’m writing this review in part to thank him, in part to bookmark the place for our next car ferry journey. So if you’re heading to Portsmouth for a ferry, give it a try… It’s ideally located about 3 min drive from the Brittany ferry terminal. So your chips will still be hot when you check in..:

Decided to try this relatively new chip shop. On a positive the food & portion size was very good. However the price was ridiculously expensive. We usually use wetherby whaler & pay around £8 for a regular fish & chips. We paid £7.80 for one fish & nearly £3 each for chips. I appreciate things have gone up, but not that much. Won’t be going again. Shame as local to us but not at those prices.

Usually this place does the best fish and chips but tonight it has been awful. Fish is so thin and dry its disgusting and inedible. Chips r mostly bad too. Very disappointing and cant even complain because they r now shut! Sighhh

Decent fish and chip with lovely staff. Only issue for me would be female members of staff don't seem to have their hair tied up and I think it's a bit unhygenic.

Chips could of been a bit hotter. And proper sized Chips instead of ends of Chips

I ordered my food and was told they were waiting on chips then other people came in ordered and was given there food first which was chips so not sure if I will be returning again

Finally! A fish and chip shop who knows how to perfect a saveloy!!!!! Oi oi. Also… the quality of food is 5 star. The hygiene of food… even better! And I’m proud to have this place As my local, will spend a lot of money here from now on! Also service is spot on. Even if it wasn’t I wouldn’t care because food is that good.

some of the best Chips i've had, everything i've had has been great, accept for the sausages one time, i don't order the sausages anymore. Only issue i've had is today, I ordered 2 cans of drink with my meal and they failed to have them delivered. So with that i think a reduction of 2 stars is reasonable due to my disappointment. I've requested a refund on Deliveroo but i shouldn't have to do so, if they ever make it up to me then i'll consider giving the other two stars.

Been looking for a good chippy and this one is the best in Portsmouth hands down. We order via Deliveroo and it travels really well, it's not swimming in grease and is still piping hot. Just ordered our next one

They serve chips in boxes which makes it easier to eat out off. Nice chips as well.

I visited ocean fresh as I was working in the area , personally I thought the fish and chips was very nice , not greasy and a generous size portion , I'd give 5 out of 5 for my meal , .

Delivered order - half of it was missing and neither me or just eat were able to get hold of them. Then I discovered a hair within the batter of my fish :-(

This chips shop was the bomb back in the day! But then the food started to decline but I’m glad to see the food is starting to get back to how it was. One annoying thing is was when I ordered a large chips and a few other people come in after I did and order more food. Without making them wait for my chips to cook first he spilt my chips between 3 people and they both ordered small and my portion wasn’t even half the size of theirs. I had been waiting about 15-20 mins before they walked in and I paid more for less. Other than that they offer a proper thick chippy chip. The oil is always clean you can taste the fresh new taste!

Under new management chips not good and battered sausages had no taste with soggy batter. Will not use them again. I don't recommend them.

Plus we ordered a large cod and a small cod yet the two pieces of fish we got were exactly the same size when we paid for one to be large! They even manged to overcook the mushy peas so they were dry and burnt tasting!! This is the second chance we have given them after the last time we ordered from there was so awful. They have now lost our custom.

I arrived just when it opened as I needed to get the ferry to Spain. The fish wasn't cooked well as the oil used was old or not hot enough. It wasn't to my liking. It cannot be considered a restaurant, just a takeaway with four basic tables and chairs. Will not return.

Chips were not edible and place is not very clean will not be back again......

For a start I can make better chips at home, maybe invest in a potato peeler not a slave!! Also I have never ever in my life known a chip shop to take so long for 1 portion, YES 1 PORTION of chips 20 minutes waiting with not 1 other customer in the shop! Absolutely ridiculous! Deffo go to fish king or King's wok!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopeless. Couldn't understand the order of fish chips and peas open! When served it was cold heavily battered and overpriced. A seaside city deserves better.

Cooked fresh, tasted lovely, price is very reasonable. Recently went back, ordered a large and got a small.

The staff took a very long while to write down five orders of fish and chips plus two drinks, which was then added up and re-added up using a calculator rather than the till that was there. When the food arrived it was fairly average, although something from it gave me three days of diarrhoea, perhaps the mayonnaise which was just kept on the counter? Thankfully we don’t live in the area so shouldn’t ever need to return.

This chippy is a bit different as they make your food per order not just in bulk it makes the food taste alot better than others

Great quality food at a great price

Tonight I had the worst chips I've ever had in my life .they tasted like theyed been cooked in very dirty and old oil. They were bitter and acrid. Ended up throwing them in the bin .just wish there was a decent fish and chip shop in North end and not having to go to Southsea for a nice meal .

I don't know if I just caught this place at the wrong time but I bought fish & chips here just before they were about to close after disembarking a cross-channel ferry. The food served to me was inedible. Went straight in the bin. The fish tasted like it had been sitting around for days and the chips were massively undercooked. It's hard to understand how such a simple meal could be cooked so badly.

Good service. Fresh cooked fish, lovely chips. Inexpensive. Very fair - gave us an extra can of drink for a (only-slightly) too-thin bit of cod roe.

As tourists from the USA, we’ve had fish and chips many times on our visits to UK. In Portsmouth, we wanted fish and chips before taking ferry to France. We found this shop within a five-minute drive from the ferry. Easy parking on the street in front. Best of all, we had delicious fresh fish and excellent chips, too. The man behind the counter recommended a special meal deal for us four at a great price. We had larger portions of cod than we had imagined, cooked just right, and a plate full of yummy chips. The price was right, and the quality of food and service superb.

the fish and chips from here are very good indeed and I would 100% recommend visiting if your in the area and needing your fish and chip fix. I also order chicken nuggets for my son and I wouldn't order them again, even thou they tasted very nice they wasn't very chicken like inside. The staff here are very nice indeed and value for money was good as well.

Good meal well prepared, I always drop by when I am nearby. Chips use to be prepared at the same time as well as fish, burgers or any other food, you can check how they are constantly throwing chips in the fryer or taking food from the fridge.
