Loch Fyne - Portsmouth in Portsmouth

We returned to this fabulous restaurant for the second time this year, having discovered it last year with a group of girlfriends. The service , as ever, was superb….as was the food. Friendly and professional…..from the greeting by our lovely host (Gio I think?) to the lovely Emma who looks after us throughout our meal. Thank you to the whole team……..it was certainly worth driving from Somerset for!!

If you are at Gunwharf quays, you gotta eat here, the ambience, service and food is a 10 on 10. We went in with no expectations and this place blew our minds, the oysters are a must try.

Been going to Loch fyne for many years. Was surprised on Sunday when having my lunch I noticed the manageress behind the bar having puffs on her vape. Certainly surprised me noing the high standards that Loch fine set

Fantastic service and Charlie our waitress was great too, so polite and friendly. Food was very good, highly recommend Haggis scotch egg for a starter.

Overpriced food for what it was. Our table was on route to the toilets and right beside a serving station. Our server was very pleasant but that’s as good as it gets. Unfortunately it wasn’t up to me to ask to change tables otherwise I would have done. First and last time there.

This was my 1st time dining in Loch Fyne and it was absolute perfection.. beautiful decor, amazing staff , the food was incredible and its not ridiculously expensive . My new no 1 place to go for a great dining experience..

We had truly delicious meals last night at Loch Fyne , Portsmouth. Our mains of Sea Trout & Mussels , Moules Mariniere and the Thai fish curry were all to die for. As for the dessert choice of sticky toffee pudding……heaven. Our waitress Charlotte/Charlie was first class, very efficient with a great sense of humour and made our evening most enjoyable, thank you for the birthday pudding as well. Lovely thought. All in all I would highly recommend, it’s a beautiful restaurant in a lovely place to visit. Especially now with all the Christmas decorations everywhere.

Perfect venue for meeting up with friends. Lovely food and exceptional service. We didn’t feel rushed despite spending 2 hours over only one course.

Warm greeting on arrival Was taken upstairs and promptly took our order for drinks Very friendly and chatty waiters and waitress especially Aimee Jane(I hope I got that correct) Had a Haggis scotch egg starter Amazing. Salmon with dauphinoise potatoes and greens followed by a blueberry cheesecake which was the lightness I’ve ever tasted Followed by cocktails. We were the last to leave but we weren’t made to feel like we had to go. Thank you for such an enjoyable evening with delicious food

We really enjoyed the atmosphere in this place, food did not disappoint. The staff were really great as I have allergies, I felt at ease, the chef 👨‍🍳 really went out of his way to make sure I was happy. I will definitely return x

First visit.. Amazing setting fabulous service very lovely food

My partner and I absolutely loved our experience in the Loch Fyne, we visited here on the 5th November for our anniversary. Chuck was our waiter and he done an amazing job of looking after us, making our trip even more enjoyable. He is a very polite young man and clearly loves his job. Perfect place for a date night. Highly recommend. Excellent service, incredible food. Will be visiting again in the near future.

Lovely food bit of a hiccup with the main course one came out a little bit after the other three but not a big deal. Very nice lunch thank you all the staff. 👍

Very good seafood restaurant. I know it’s part of a chain but doesn’t feel like it as the service is great and the staff are incredibly attentive. I would say it’s more fine dining than casual dining. My friends ordered oysters and fish platter. Not many vegetarian options. I think you have the choice between two dishes. Great French and Italian wines. Excellent desserts. Would definitely return.

This is a good restaurant and Emma, our waitress that night (23/10/23) gave us excellent service. menu choices were good, but the smoked haddock dish I ate was ruined by putting tough haddock skin in the food - to give flavour one supposes. This is a big mistake. It spoiled the meal.

I highly recommend this restaurant if you wish to eat fresh fish. Delicious food. We wnjoyed Sunday lunch here.Service is great, thanks Loz. We came with little chihuahua dog and they made effort to mive extra table to sit us in bar area. Well done.

Chuck our waiter was brilliant, explained the specials and gave us a great wine recommendation. Highly recommend for a chilled and romantic atmosphere.

The food was cold and inedible, it was my birthday so I went with my girlfriend and son, I had the lobster 🦞 it was cold and reheated, all I could taste was 🧂 salt. Yuk. Also, their fries 🍟 were limp and cold. My girlfriend had the fish platter. It was overcooked, greesy, and cold. It also did not have any sauce. My so had surf and turf, he almost pulled his teeth out it was so chewy. I did get a complementary glass of proceco as it was my birthday and the staff were OK. Just felt they were quite unapproachable. Sorry, this is such a bad review, 👎 I hate giving them, but unless they improve, we will not be returning

The service here was fantastic, the waiters were attentive without making me feel rushed and the freshly grilled Tuna steak my waiter recommended was perfect. The food was fresh, made quickly and piping hot. Can't recommend enough.

Robert at Loch Fyne Seafood and Grill deserves high praise for his exceptional service. His warm and welcoming demeanor immediately put us at ease, and his extensive knowledge of the menu allowed him to recommend perfect dishes tailored to our preferences.

My recent visit to Loch Fyne left me with a bitter taste in my mouth, and not in the delicious, seafood-inspired way I had hoped for. The anticipation of savoring a well-prepared starter and a grilled seafood main dish quickly turned into a nightmarish dining experience. Let's start with one of the 3 starters we had, which was supposed to be a delightful Mussels dish. The first indicator that something was amiss was the off-putting odor emanating from the plate. Mussels should have a fresh, sea breeze aroma, but these had a foul, unpleasant smell. It was a sign that something was not right in the kitchen. But the disappointment didn't end there. The menu promised a white wine sauce to accompany the mussels, yet there was no sign of it on the plate. The mussels were devoid of the promised wine-infused flavor and were drowned in a mediocre broth. This dish was far from what one would expect from a seafood restaurant with Loch Fyne's reputation. Moving on to the main course, I ordered a grilled seafood dish, expecting a delightful, smoky flavor. However, what was served to me was far from the grilled masterpiece I had in mind. Instead, the seafood had a pan-fried look, not grilled as advertised. The lack of smokiness and the absence of those quintessential grill marks on the seafood were a letdown. But the disappointment didn't end there. The half-cooked seafood was served with a solid seasoned butter on top. While I appreciate the use of butter in seafood dishes, but this was overwhelming. It felt as if the dish was created to compensate for something lacking in the preparation. My dish was taken back to kitchen to be cooked properly. Overall, my experience at Loch Fyne was far from the seafood paradise I had envisioned. The poor quality of the starter, with its off-putting smell and lack of white wine, set the tone for the evening. The misrepresentation of the grilled seafood dish as pan-fried, added to the disappointment. For a restaurant that prides itself on its seafood offerings, this was a letdown. I hope Loch Fyne can rectify these issues and live up to its reputation in the future, as my recent experience was far from satisfactory. The reception and service were satisfactory, and the staff tried their best to make us feel better. We were given some discount for the half-cooked dish.

My husband and I have eaten here before when visiting Portsmouth. The restaurant is always one of our favourites. Our server Chuck was great very friendly and helpful especially as I asked if I could have the starter of mussels but without the garlic in the sauce,which he asked the chef who said yes and made me the sauce. The whole meal was lovely The atmosphere was great Good value Will definitely be visiting again

I came here with my partner to celebrate my birthday. The staff were exceptionally friendly and I would recommend this to anybody who wants a night out with delicious food. The staff couldn't have done more to help us, our server was called Jan who was very professional. We will be back.

Greeneking Seafood Restaurant in Gun Wharf Quays.

This is our second visit. Excellent service, attentive but not in your face. Lovely buzzy atmosphere but also not too noisy. Lovely food, beautifully cooked. Ticks all the boxes. Well done team!

Simple, reliable, go-to Bistro. Simple, but excellent, with reasonable prices.

Very nice fish restaurant, I had the fish pie, my wife the green curry, both very happy with our choice. The waiters were quite attentive, and the style resembled an old-timey restaurant.

Phenomenal evening, food was amazing our waiter, Chuck, was one of the best. Very few waiters around today anywhere can match his customer service.

A special event as we had family visiting. The service and food was wonderful and the restaurant has such a lovely atmosphere. The seafood dishes were fabulous, as were the desserts, especially the sticky toffee pudding!

Lovely experience from start to finish. Wait staff are attentive and friendly. The food was great - we had the Oysters, and Fish and Chips. Also enjoyed their Signature Gin and Tonic. Worthy of a visit.

Wow...the food was amazing and the staff were very polite and very helpful and the view is breathtaking will be going back again...we went back Sunday night for my wife's birthday dinner and the lady outside with the black hair went above and beyond looking after us and even found a candle for my wife's desert and helped sing happy birthday to her..outstanding sevice

I was really not happy with the service that was provided by (Charlie) I usually go there most of the times but today was literally so poker face and rude customer service by her! If she’s not happy with her job I personally think she shouldn’t be in customer service. May god help the others who are served by her.

We had a wonderful Birthday lunch on 1st September, with an added surprise of a glass of Champagne. The food, a hot and cold fruit de mer and service were excellent. The restaurant filled swiftly but, as well staffed the atmosphere on the extensive , attractive and outdoor terrace was wonderful. Having not visited for years we hope to return soon. It was lovely to hear from our waiter that he loves seafood and will as every year spend his birthday with friends eating there. The waiter had a very positive impact on the enjoyment of our visit, and even collected shells for me to take for my nursery children to enjoy.

Very high class eatery within Gunwharf. Stairs up to 2 levels of restaurant, bar at ground level. Outside seating area also, with large umbrellas. Staff lovely and attentive, food delicious and expertly prepared. Never seen such huge prawns. Service charge included in the bill.

Great food and service with a fantastic range of choice on the menu, the wine menu in contrast wasn’t so good with very limited choice.

Fantastic restaurant situated in the Gunwharf Quay shopping mall. The food is fantastic I had whole sea bass ..fell apart, another had the surf & turf, Mrs.B had pan fried sea bream ...it was all beautifully cooked the servers are very attentive.. yeah 10/10 👍👍

We visited on a Saturday evening and we were surprised that it wasn't busy. The food was average- we had fish and chips, lobster, burgers, chocolate truffle cakes and sticky toffee pudding. The sticky toffee pudding gets 5 stars, the rest gets 3 stars. The service was very poor. The staff were not attentive and the service was very slow. They did not ask whether everything was OK with our meals or whether we needed anything else such as drinks. They kept us waiting for ages between courses and did not ask if we'd like desert - we had to ask. They also kept us waiting for the bill - again, we had to ask. Overall a below average experience but not terrible. We came away feeling underwhelmed by the food and frustrated with the slow, inattentive service. We wouldn't be in a rush to go back

Very nice food, it arrive quickly and was exactly what we hoped for. We ordered a bunch of side dishes and shared it all in the middle. Staff were lovely and knowledgeable, and were happy to go the extra mile. I would recommend this place for sure.

Always a our go-to restaurant in Gunwharf. The food is reasonably priced and always cooked well, plus there is a great selection to chose from. My bream main course was delicious and the haddock remoulade starter was lovely. Our waitress did so well to remember all of our complicated order and was so helpful bringing extra napkins and sauce etc. Lovely setting, great food and great service. Well done Loch Fyne Portsmouth, we will be back soon.

Was a brilliant place for a very good meal, as it happened to be a birthday treat for one of our party.

Food was amazing, it is expensive, but you do get amazing quality and taste.

Fantastic place, food and atmosphere were great. Just a little unfortunate with the service, generally its good but sometimes... like busses... none about and then 3 pop up at once. My wife and I love the place.

Edited: we were offered 25% discount on the bill and 25%discount on the next visit after i called the manager and explained our frustration. We arrived to celebrate a special occasion and informed the booking team that we are celebrating, the starters are amazing, we got the fish soup, halloumi and prawns, as a main we ordered Lobster to share, it was chewy, my mistake is not to report it immediately and we eat it anyway, we informed the host and they said since we ate it all they cannot do anything, but they offered us a complimentary desert as we are celebrating,however we were told later we are limited to one option only after they offered 3 options from the dessert menu, this made us feel really bad and we decided to pay for our wanted desert. Obviously the manager could help correcting the situation but nothing happened.

My heart and genitals melted just like the chilli and lime butter in my whole grilled lobster (except I was less delicious. I had more of a salty/sweaty sun stroke vibe going on). The chilli and garlic prawns for starters are worthy of a final meal on death row, I could have eaten a thousand of them. They would have had to use a wheelbarrow to get me to the electric chair after a buffet of those shrimpy little bad boys. Mum had the prawn cocktail and a seabass fillet big enough to knock out a horse. Like some sort of seabass ketamine.

Absolutely delicious, fresh food. We went here without realising it was graduation week for Portsmouth University- hence the restaurant was heaving- but the service was still very good and the food was delivered without too much delay. The cuisine is a real treat- exceptional. It is pricey, but worth it for a rare treat. My only slight bug bear is that they added a 10% service charge automatically - even though we were only a party of 2. But it was still a great evening out.

On Friday evening I decided to take my friend to Loch Fyne at Gunwarf Quays in Portsmouth for dinner. Being local to Gunwarf, this was one of the few restaurants I had never been to and my friend loves seafood so I was excited to try it. Well, I'm so glad i decided to give it a try. We were greated by a lovely, friendly member of front of house called Rob who went above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was perfect; giving us such a warm welcome it made us feel at ease straight away. We were then seated and our waiter; Tom was also just as friendly and attentive. He made sure we had everything we needed, went through all the options and recommendations on the menu and made sure our first visit was a wonderful experience. We both went away saying it was one of the best meals we had had in a long time. The food was outstanding as were the staff. Will definitely be going back and will be recommending it to everyone.

Second visit her but unfortunately the food wasn’t up to scratch. Oysters were not fresh, mixed grill was very undercooked. Result was two upset stomachs the next day. Shame as my first visit was top notch.

Great location, good staff, ok food...

Had a fabulous meal with my father whilst visiting Portsmouth. Amazing how tranquil it was only being a stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle of the shopping centre and other eateries. We must of been served by 4 or 5 different members of staff and all were attentive, polite and amazing. Whenever there's a Loch Fyne in a city we are visiting we always frequent as the food is always divine.

Menu not as good as it used to be. Was Hungary so stayed and had basic fish and chips. Fish batter over cooked but for £10 was okay. Service charge of £2.50 added but did not see this on the menu. But staff quick as place was fairly empty

Very enjoyable meal. We were a large group of about 20 including 8 children. Very well looked after and the food was fantastic all around.

Waited 45 minutes for starter. The spaghetti seafood was way too hot (nothing in the menu suggested it had chillies in). Also it's the only fish pie I've had a hard boiled egg in. They did refund the starter after complaining. Wouldn't want to go there again.

We bumped into this restaurant nearly by accident. We made a short stop in Portsmouth and looked for a good fish restaurant. The food was excellent. It was soo good that we sailed back a day later to visit this place again!!! And if I will be ever around I will come again to this place. Great service with smile. Superb tuna. Thank you guys.

Loch Fyne, if your pushing the proverbial boat out, a great place to come to enjoy good food, service and watch the world float by. We docked there after a wonderful staycation in Bournemouth on our way home to the big smoke. Took in some shopping in the wonderful bargaintastic shopping outlet which bought on the munchies! Had a look around at all the eateries and settled on Loch....and so glad we did. I wish I could remember our servers name, as he was great! We had a number of delicious starters, like the halloumi, chorizo and calamari. All were lovely, especially the halloumi....YUM!! For the mains we went for a lobster, fish n chips (could have been a little larger) and mixed seafood dish. All were great but the mixed seaford dish didn't hit all the right notes, so we ordered another lobster....poor, poor bank account!! 😉 All in all a lovely time was had and the food enjoyed. I certainly recommend Loch Fyne to one and all but remember taste is subjective.... Hope this little insight helps 👍🏽😃

Love this place food and service fantastic

I ate here with my family on the 27th and was amazed at how good the food was, absolutely fantastic! The staff were excellent and Raphael was extremely pleasant, helpful and courteous, a real asset. Definitely be coming back and the location was brilliant as well.

Love the location, nice service and great team , food was burnt ( fish pie) and not at all well presented., just slow down with the seating of new customers, give the chefs a chance to serve great food .

All front-line staff were attentive friendly and very efficient. The food was excellent ! Would recommend if you're by Portsmouth harbour and shops and are looking for good food and good service

The place is located in a very central and nice spot. The food is also very tasty and fresh. We had oysters, fish and prawns. They were all delicious! The portions are not massive though. We ended up with stick toffee pudding and popcorn Sunday as dessert. None of them were superb. If you are not so desperate for sweet stuff, I would not recommend them.
