Papas always great quality and a reasonable price for the portion sizes

Take away only chippy. Simple menu, small and Chips with medium Haddock and Large Haddock or Cod. I think there may have been a nugget option. I wanted Cod so ordered large and it was half the price of my local chippy and twice the size. It didn't even fit in the box! The fish was lovely and fresh, the chips were nice but we arrived a bit after the lunch rush and I think they had sat in the heater a bit too long. Dad got lucky and had the fresh cooked portion of chips and said they were great.

Really friendly staff. Stevie was really helpful and pleasant. Food really nice and cooked to order. Mushy peas were cold but everything else spot on.

Quick service and food was fantastic. By far the cheapest we saw all day. Special mention to Stevie, nothing too much trouble and even came out to greet the dog. Highly recommend!

Advertised as opening at 11.30am but didn't actually open until 1pm. Only one person serving and one frying. Waited 20 minutes to be served. Ordered gluten free fish and chips. 30 Minutes later received our order! Went away to eat and found hadn't been given our curry sauce. Thought they had perhaps forgot to put our food in to cook with it taking so long but chips were so burnt they may have been cooking the entire 30 minutes we were waiting. Super greasy and no forks or napkins. Will definitely not be returning.

Unfortunately, I was forced to leave Papa's fish and chip shop disappointed. First of all, they were unable to provide us with a fork, which would have made eating fish chips and messy peas very messy. Secondly, but most disappointing of all after waiting a while to be served, we were told they were not able to make the gluten-free fish, which they advertised they could do. We therefore left empty-handed and disappointed.

there was only 1 person frying and 1 person serving and he was rushed of his feet waited 20 mins to get serve and food then when we got food they didn't have any forks how do you eat your fish and chips with hot curry on without a fork?

Arrived around 5pm gone ordered two portions of chip one with curry one without, took nearly 35 minutes to even get them, then on top of that they apparently had no forks, try eating chips and curry without a fork, very hard and messy. And when questioned it the lad just wasn’t sure and said he thinks they ran out and wasn’t helpful at all, I give the due that he did seemed rushed of his feet, one person to take orders, dish em up etc. Just not an overall good experience, don’t think we’ll be back anytime soon. AVOID , chips weren’t even great really.

Great food, good service, only problem is they don't take card, at least for when I went.

Definitely overrated. Maybe in 1966 it was a good place for fish but time has passed and the food doesn't even have any taste. I won't go back there for sure waste of money. By the sea, fish should taste like from the sea, they were like wood shavings.

Second visit to this branch, just as great as before, freshly cooked haddock (medium on the menu but I'd say large!) and lovely hot chips. Can't fault Papa's here Whitby and Scarborough, never been let down by them and Today was no exception!

Zero stars went at 4.15 they said they might be open come back at 5pm and they say they are closed all the lights on they seriously need closing down they are never open 😡

Just come over today to visit family and said I'll go to papa's for our lunch. NO FISH ?? a seaside fish and chip shop with no fish. Waiting for a delivery of fish. People were walking in and straight back out. what a shame there going to lose lots of customers. So had to go somewhere else for lunch.

Having previously had fish and chips in Cleethorpes & Skegness from Papa's we were looking forward to trying them in Bridlington. What a disappointment, fish batter was rock hard and overcooked. The fish itself is meant to be soft but this was like chewing on leather. With the amount of fish and chip shops around this establishment you'd think they would get it right but we'll definitely go elsewhere next time.

I visited Bridlington yesterday and I went round to papas as they are the only ones that do gluten free fish and chips they wasn't open until about 1.30 so I waited and called back to find out that they hadn't put the frier on for gluten free so i had to leave it will not probably go back there again

Had the medium fish and chips and really enjoyed them Very generous portions well priced and delicious Will certainly use Papas again the next time we visit Bridlington The 2 young men serving deserve a mention They worked very hard and helped each other out Worked very well as a team

Was in brid last weekend(11/9/22)… fancied chips n curry sauce. Best ive had in brid in a long time. The chips were 10/10 not a single scabby chip, in my eyes thats excellent. The curry was awesome too. Very tasty. This will be my goto chippy when i visit brid from now on.

Large fish is almost bigger than the box! Chips are always perfect and the curry sauce here is to die for!

By far the best in town, same as in Scarborough. Superb fish, generous portions; good potatoes well cooked in fresh oil/fat; well priced. But your best point in Brid was your two excellent staff, who served us about 2pm on September 1st. Efficient, very pleasant ( a smile always captures repeat business) and very unflappable under pressure, also keeping up with wiping down and sweeping floors. To prove I'm not uncritical, we felt the curry sauce was a little too salty. So thank you and keep up the good work.

Absolutely amazing experience here- my partner got the large fish and chips and it was honestly HUGE, so big I had to laugh when it first got brought out. My medium size was also big for a medium portion! The curry sauce was amazing- I’ve never tasted one like it! Wouldn’t go anywhere else when in Brid now

Ordered a couple of portions of chips and waited for our order. Chips had black bits on and had no taste at all even with my tried and tested amount of salt and vinegar on them. Disappointing.

We arrived around 2030 noting they closed at 2100. They had limited stock left available which was fine with us as we only wanted simple items. The staff were friendly and helpful pointing out what they had left over. The menu had a good selection if we’d been earlier. I was slightly surprised they closed at 2100, however a lot of the places seemed to. I had a large chips and 2 normal sausages, the chips were excellent quality. Not too greasy, I loved them, lots of crispy bits as well. Sausages were standard, very nice. The place was very clean and presentable, chip forks were available along with all the usual sauces etc. Based on this experience I would recommend getting your fish n chips from here; I’ll probably be back in future.

Visited twice now and have not been disappointed yet. Great place to go if you have someone GF with you as they can accommodate. Thought the portion was really generous as well especially for a 'special'.

The McDonalds of fish and chips. Totally destroys local businesses nearby which actually take pride in what they do. Avoid at all costs unless you want low quality dry food.

We have been there 3 times (we live in bridlington) will not be going again rubbish we have told many people about it papas in Scarborough is alot better but it's along way to drive when you are 68 years old and disable

Went to Papa’s at Bridlington as we had visited the Weston S Mare restaurant many times without any complaints. We ordered 2 x Classic fish and chips for my wife and myself. 09/07/2022. At 20:18 as we didn’t want the seagulls to hover above we took them back home. NOT impressed at all. The fish had so much batter on it possibly to make it look bigger. By the time we went to eat them we found the chips burnt. We managed to eat what we could and disposed of the rest. I returned to the shop to let them know how disappointed we were no offer of apology. We will definitely be steering clear of this chip shop. Waste of £15:98 !!

Delicious fish and chips! Good portion for the price. Fast friendly service. It's the last shop on Prince Street and easy to miss but well worth finding. There's plenty of seats close by but beware of the seagulls!

We have been to other Papas outlets many times and found the food to be excellent. Particularly so at Cleethorpes where the staff are wonderful and the gluten free fish and chips delicious. We were really looking forward to visiting the Bridlington site. What a massive disappointment. We had to wait ages to get served, even though there was no queue to speak of. The food took almost half an hour to arrive. 30 minutes for two haddock and chips. Really? When it did eventually arrive the batter on the fish was rock hard on the outside and slimy on the inside. The fish itself was paper thin and dried out. The chips were either over or under cooked. Safe to say, we will not be returning here and will go to Cleethorpes or Whitby restaurants in preference.

Papas in Cleethorpes is the best by far , we were in Bridlington today so our obvious choice was to go there , worst I have ever had !

What can I say about this place!! I bought a large fish and chips and the fish was the biggest I've ever experienced!! So many people that saw it (even as I was walking eating it), commented on the "whale" I had!! If I'd known, there would have been no reason for others to order a meal as well (as could have fed a family of 4!). Tasty fish and amazing chips. Great prices too. Definitely recommend of in the area, as can't see anyone else beating it for cost, taste and value.

Were able to do chips in vegetable oil!! After trying like six other places I could have cried. So vegan and gluten free options!

Visited the one in Blackpool, which is very popular, so decided to try the new Bridlington one For £5.99 you got small fish, chips, battered sausage and curry sauce. It was all very tasty. Staff were polite aswell. Recommended.

Had fish and chips for the first time at papas newly opened shop. My friend who hadn't had real gluten free fish and chips in over 30 years also joined us. The lads behind the counter were Ethan (frying) and Robert (serving) were fabulous. Friendly, cheerful, great sense of humour and very helpful with all the gluten free options we talked about. What amazing staff you have working here, they alone will have me coming back for more, the food was fresh and hot and very enjoyable. It made my year being able to treat my best mate to her first chippy with real fresh fish and not frozen muck. Thank you so much lads. 🥰

Over cooked , so dry it was like chewing cardboard. Absolutely shocking for the price. Probably the worst fish and chips I have ever had. The batter was dark brown , and that hard the plastic forks supplied broke when trying to eat the fish. Give this place a wide birth. It's a one star review because you can't post zero! Lot's of far better fish and chip shops in Bridlington.

How can you make fish so badly with so much competition? It was probably 80% batter and 20% dry yellow fish. Literally paid for batter and chips x 3. Hands down the worst fish and chips I've ever had, actually robbed me. The fish was barely edible, Shocking.

I never ever leave bad reviews, In fact I’m more a a leave a good review sort of person.. but honestly the food and service was that bad I felt I had to. All 3x staff members working were unprofessional. The guy slagged off previous customers before us loud enough to hear and both girls continuously touched their hair whilst serving food!!! Took FOREVER for our food to come.. when it did it was horrific and not one thing was edible. Fish cake was like a rock, I picked it up and banged it onto the box it was that solid. I tore it in two and the inside was a weird yellow colour?Mushy peas had hair in, like Asif someone had been for a hair cut prior and got hair falling off them into the peas. The fish and chips were just beyond greasy. You know when he oil is old and leaves a funny taste? Yeah that.. We were not the only people who thought this, the couple behind us also binned theirs. NEVER again will we go here!

Papas as always great value for money. The staff are obviously new but very friendly and polite. Newly opened in Bridlington and here to stay. Definately be going back.
