Stopped by to pick up two cod and chips. entry and exit was via different doorsChips were well cooked and tasty with a strong vinegar, The Fish was good and white with a good crisp thin batter and plenty of scraps.The girls behind the counter were very polite and knew there jobrecommended and the location right by the harbour, would make it an excellent place to sit and eat your meal if you wished

Fancied fish&chips on the harbour wall so tried Wards for the first time. The cod and chips were absolutely delicious and the service was very professional. This will be our go to chippy for future visits to Brid.

This evening me an my mother fancied fresh fish an chips . An we went to wards on bridlington seafront an what a disappointment fish dry an over cooked . As showen in pics greasy chips an not many at a cost of £15.80 .We live in brid an will never go there again an will be telling all off our family an friends living in the town an surrounding areas to avoid WARD'S chipshop

visiting here this evening very disappointed, server was unwelcoming banging items around pulling faces at orders. Cleaning products near were getting served. 😡

My mum has been shielding and hadn’t had fish and chips in a very long time. I live in Bognor Regis so couldn’t get her any. After calling a few fish and chip shops in Brid they were the only ones that would help me. I paid over the phone and a lovely lady Sharon offered to deliver some fish and chips to my mums house after her shift! The lady who took my order was lovely and the staff were so very kind to do what they did! I will always be grateful to them. To TOP it off GORGEOUS fish & chips and mushy peas! My mum was so happy!

Always go to this chip shop when we are in Bridlington. Best fish, chips and peas around!! Try it. You’ll love it.

As is the new norm- a queue outside, not their fault, be interesting in winter to see if we all queue then! However, a review of this fish & chips takeaway. There is an extensive menu to chose from if you do not want haddock or cod n chips! Its £5 for a fish, chips vary in price dependant upon your choice.Service was efficient if not ruched slightly and unfortunately lots of the food was pre-cooked- resulting in cooler than i would like chips n gravy to go with the fish! My wife loved her chips pity i couldn't really say the same but we all have different preferences! The fish was not the biggest out of the sea, I would call it a medium and was a little disappointing for the money paid.I think i would try another place if and when we visit Bridlington again- nothing against "Wards and i wish you all well during these testing times

Bought from here again, today, on a run out to brid to blow off the cobwebs on a winter Saturday in January, and as always great fish and chips, we just keep returning to here, we have tried other places but this just beats all the others Will return when weather is warmer, keep up the great food you sellThe fish is lightly battered, chips soft and tasty and the best mushy peas

Dined " out of season" so had sea view with the Mexican surroundings, in the restaurant next door. Very friendly service, nice fish and chips , excellent choice for our lunchtime meal. By the way " Brid" has tidied itself up very nicely these days.......try it for a day out during the "off" season. Lunch followed by a brisk walk down the beach,it will put the colour into your cheeks.

We always visit here on our trips to Bridlington as we have always found the fish and chips really nice. They are cooked to order so are always piping hot, nice curry sauce too. The fish is lovely, white and flaky and the chips are good. My only critisism is the batter which, (depending on who is cooking), is sometimes rather sparse as was the case when we visited last week. Sometimes the fish is more thickly coated and the batter is lovely and crisp. Its a shame that sometimes the fish is hardly coated at all as I do like a nice thick and crisp batter. The staff are always friendly and this is the best fish and chip shop we have found in Brid so far.

Had a lovely lunch here in the sit down restaurant which is actually next door inside a Mexican themed bar/diner. Another small confusing thing was the chippy isn't branded as Wards, but hey, I found the place and their restaurant and neither disappointed.The cod and chips was fresh fried and served piping hot. Excellent batter, good quality fish perfectly cooked and a good job was made with the summer spud chips. The big advantage of lunch in what is by night a Mexican restaurant and bar was that I could have a beer with my lunch. Happy days.The service was great too... friendly folk and good to chat to.

We popped in for lunch. Fish and chips were excellent and extremely tasty. The batter was just the right thickness and the fish very flaky and white . The place has a small seating area which we took advantage off.

Visited here yesterday and the food was disgusting the chips were undercooked hard and pale 1 fish was undercooked and 1 was overcooked. Will never be visiting again this was neither value for money or edible.

I have used Wards for the last two years..It has now been taken over but I thought I would give it a try..The batter was very thin and the fish was hard..got the impression it had been reheated.. the chips were white not golden and some of them were a little hard. As this was cooked to order there are no excuses. I won't be returning sorry

Stumbled across this chip shop today and had the most wonderful fish and chips amazing crispy batter , very fresh fish and beautiful chips , can’t recommend it enough

Both of us had fish chips and peas for tea today. They were fantastic. By far the best looking chip shop in town. The batter on the cod was gorgeous and so crispy....just how I like it not thick. Chips fabulous and mushy peas just perfect. In my top five for best fish and chips ever. Staff lovely and friendly too. Thank you

Little miss attitude came in Tuesday the 19th August and the server was very rude arguing with me that I had orderd fishbites when I hadn't 3 times I had to tell her I didn't want them when I finally got sorted out the fish was lovely and the gent that cooked it was very nice and pleasant.

Lovely fish and chips, good value, decent staff and everything cooked to order so, yes you wait for the fish, hut it's worth it.

We phoned an order through for fish and chips for 16 of us, who were down on the beach. All collected and it was delicious!!

We had fish and chips from Wards a few months ago and decided to revisit with friends. Top notch chips, lovely and moist. Fish, fresh and hot. £5.50 OAP portion an absolute bargain. £38.70p for 3 OAP and 3 standard fish and chips. and two curry sauce. Great!

Discovered this 'chippy' a year or so ago, and we now think of it as a must to visit when in Bridlington. The fish, cod or haddock is superb, lightly battered and meaty, with thick cut perfectly fried chips to go with it.You may sometime have to wait for it, as it is cooked to order, just as it should be. The staff have always been friendly. It is located on the left just past the Spa, opposite the harbour.

Fish and chips were lovely would highly recommend but the young girl with the ponytail who served us is very rude slamming things down and picking her hands it needs addressing!

Went to Wards today for fish, chips n peas and was not disappointed. The fish was superb with a thin coating of crispy batter..perfect. Will certainly eat there again when in Bridlington

Called in to wards Tuesday the 9th july as i no it as been taken over so thought I would try as I was a regular before it seems all the food as change sausage nuggats fish cakes ECT. The fish was ok but the batter wasn't as good my kids didn't rate the sausage and nuggats either go back to old stock in my opinion on the plus side I was glad to see they kept the older lady with short fair hair she is very efficient and good at her job I will try again to see if they have changed back to the same food as before good luck to new owners.

We ordered 2 fish and chips one with peas one with curry and a kids meal. It cost over 20 pounds which it a bit expensive but it was worth the money the fish was the best weve had and the chips were delicious. Would defiantly return

Always used Wards takeaway, fish shop, over the past three years, but today the fish were small, the batter was not the usual fine golden tasty batter, The whole meal was very disappointing, will not go again.

Saturday 29th June 2019 usually eat in but decided to take away. Whilst waiting for our food. Noticed that the girl with pony tail must be new as was getting instructions from an older woman. Well this girl was scratching her nose scratching her neck/throat pocking her ear and picking her skin on her hands, then touching the paper to what food was getting wrapped up in and touching other items not once did she clean her hands afterwards, myself and wife just watched and lucky as we were waiting for her to serve us, the older woman served us and we went on our way, Food was soaked in grease the chips if you can call em chips were most really slithers and a few proper proportion chips thrown in. WONT BE GOING BACK sorry i have been here years to this shop but not any more.

Had lunch here today and it was absolutely gorgeous. Food made to order so was lovely and fresh once served. Didn't have to wait to long. Not badly priced and worth every penny. Will definitely visit again when in the area

Felt a bit rushed from the moment we entered. More batter than fish! Chips Ok. Many items on menu not available.

I ordered large cod and chips and a small fish and chips for my daughter , the fish tasted lovely , but the chips were average ... hence the 4 stars.

We visited as a family of three and ordered 2 haddock and chips and 1 children’s fish cake and chips which came with a table water. This along with two cans of pop came to £19.75

These are the best for 10 mile radius cooked on entry so always fresh but nearly all busy time quite a queue

What a great surprise to find a Fish and Chip Shop that cooks Fish fresh to order. We just had one of the best fantastic Haddock's from this award winner (2018) fish shop. Cannot highly recommend this plaice (place) enough - lol

Went onto Tripadvisor to find the best fish and chips in Bridlington and up popped Wards advising that the menu was served in the Aloha restaurant next door. So off we went, entered the restaurant to be greeted by “Have you booked” to which I answered sorry but NO, looking round there was only about three tables in use, all the others were empty, at which point the young lady spent a little time checking the diary, and then proclaimed we can fit you in. Once seated and during the course of the meal this ritual was repeated a number of times, and the only people who came in that had booked were a couple? The Aloha menu on the table was very extensive but no mention of Fish and Chips, we asked if we could have fish and chips and was told that they would bring us the other menu!

Been to Brid loads of times and eaten good old fish and chips from here on a few occasions. Did so on Sunday just gone which was a lovely warm day. So, fish and chips fro Wards, sit in the park next door eating them and they were delicious. Fish was huge and loads of chips so worth every penny.

Gorgeous fish and chips. Had the haddock which is my fish of choice and it did not disappoint. Lovely chips and peas. And all ate in a lovely setting overlooking the sea

As Wards was closed at 7pm, we called into Aloha for a meal after travelling most of the day, we had'nt booked but were found a table and asked if we'd like Fish'n'chips or Mexican [did'nt know same people owned both eateries?]. We chose Fish'n'chips, Generous portions with mushy peas & tartar sauce, we enjoyed our meals washed down with a big teapot of tea, we were left a choc mint and a lolly each after we'd paid our bill. I gave the lollies to a lady with children on the next table. The loos were nice and clean, and the staff were pleasant.

Good honest food no hairs and gracies could do with a face lift good prices mixed grill £7.95 home made chips not a massive plate full but enough

As it was a warm, sunny spring day, the four of us sat at tables outside of their takeaway section where we each thoroughly enjoyed a really good, flaky piece of haddock cooked in a nice crispy batter. No soggy bottom here. The fries (chips) are made from real potato and not made from reconstituted pulped mash that I so often find in Canada. Although the fish was posted as their small size, compared to what I can buy here in Canada, it was huge. Hanging over the edge of the serving dish. Cooked to order it was served piping hot with a side of mushy peas. Excellent.

We are regulars at this shop and it is our ‘go to’ treat! Get the haddock and chips which out of the chip shops I have tried in Bridlington has been the best ! Also another positive is it does takeaway fish and chips. Good service and friendly staff . Good portion sizes. The chips are lovely and the fish always tastes fresh and nice thick fish with light batter. Good mushy peas and curry sauce too! Would recommend .

I have now visited Wards on two occasions. Each time the fish was delicious and fresh, cooked just right as were the chips.

Have visited here lots of times now. The best fish and chips I have had so far of the ones I have tried in town.

Been here a few times when out at Brid and have had a nice meal everytime. Yes you have to wait sometimes but the food is fresh and always good quality. I'd happily recommend here

Haddock and chips takeaway on a bitterly cold February day whilst working in Brid. Amongst best I’ve had, lovely white tastey haddock and dry, not greasy, chunky chips. Definitely worth a try if in Brid i’ll be returning

Called to Wards fish and chip shop for our lunch after having a lovely walk. Was very nice indeed, everything was nice and hot and cooked fresh. The assistant was very polite and made conversation while waiting for our meal. Didn't know until she told me that Aloaha restaurant next door was owned by the same people, will have to give that a try next time as it looks very inviting. Will definatlely go back to the fish shop and would recommend it.

Well situated with indoor or outdoor seating on main road opposite the harbour area , reasonable prices most enjoyable value for money always a busy little chop shop

Lovely haddock and chips . Reasonable size and good quality fish. Always tastes better at the coast . Unfortunately the pie was not so good . Not many options for hubby who does not like fish, although I understand that it is a fish and chip shop.

Food staff and service excellent. I would highly recommend. We usually go somewhere else in Brid but it was closed. This place beats it hands down. Well worth a visit.

Well I've been to this fish and chip shop loads of times and had beautiful food ,but sorry to say not this time ,only called in for 2 bags of chips but they were disgusting!! £1.40 each for a small chips Nd they were small, by the time I took the old crozzled chips out and the bad ones with black eyes in I probably finished up with half a dozen!!! I even took some off at the counter and gave them back to the girl but she didn't seem bothered! Needless to say wont ever go back again!

These Fish and Chips have won the “Best in Bridlington 2018” and are definitely worthy winners. Fish is cooked to order, and allowed to drain well prior to serving - the batter coating is crisp and tasty, and the chips are fluffy on the inside with just the right amount of crunchy outside. I gather that if you want to eat inside at lunchtime you can be served in the adjoining Aloha restaurant, but we chose to have ours as takeaway. I would highly recommend trying them, and being situated near to the Spa, and overlooking the sea, what a view!

It may be the Yorkshire 'pile it high' but there's no doubting the quality. Peaceful atmosphere in the Aloha Restaurant adjacent which is used at lunchtime. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

The nicest thing I can say is that the haddock portion was large. The rest I am afraid is negative. The food is just not worth the cost, almost £15 for 2 portions of fish and chips!! Charging 20 pence for a take away box cannot be justified. The premises are confusing with two entrances, no sign stating which way is In/Out. The premises are also not very clean. Definitely will not be returning and would not recommend to others.

Had a fish and trip lunch takeaway and it was very good, the fish was fresh and the batter crisp and golden. One of the best fish and chips we've had also good value.

We were lucky enough to have fish and chips twice in a week, both portions from Wards and both absolutely amazing. Friends visited at the start of the week and we treated them to these award winning fish and chips and they were not disappointed, Clive said that they were the best he had ever tasted in his whole life (and he isn't a spring chicken). Then family visited tonight and we had them again, The family also said that they were highly impressed with their supper and Paul said they were the best he'd ever tasted too. The only disappointment was watching a grumpy man treating the staff so badly. He was very rude and aggressive towards the staff, which was completely uncalled for. The staff tried their best to make him happy but he wasn't having any of it. Such a shame as the staff really didn't deserve this!

Visited this chippy because of the large banner stating “Best Fish & Chips 2018”. What a bold statement but thoroughly deserved - best fish and chips I’ve had for a while. Fish was juicy, batter was crispy, chips were cooked to perfection in fresh oil. One of our party opted for a burger and it was a proper homemade burger - perhaps a few too many onions but still lovely nevertheless. Staff weren’t the happiest bunch, but still polite and the standard of food more than made up for that anyway. Would go back there again without a doubt.

Visited here on a day trip to Bridlington. Ate in the restaurant (Aloha). Lovely fish and chips. Fully stuffed when we left. Only downside possibly is the only choice on the menu was fish and chips. Would recommend if you want fish and chips.

Been to Wards several times now and every time fish and chips have been excellent. Friendly staff as always. If you dont mind waiting for the fish,as I always do, but hey, that's a small price to pay if you want fresh. Highly recommend as the best fish and chip shop in Bridlington.

The fish and chips were great but the service was sh1t. I ordered four items and the girl behind the counter got three of them wrong. It wasn’t even busy so she couldn’t use that as an excuse.

This is definitely the best Fish and Chip shop in Bridlington, We recently purchased a chalet on South Shore and sampled various places but we won't be going anywhere else now. The man cooking the fish said i wouldn't be disappointed and believe me, I wasn't - our family all agreed they were delicious. No bones, no skin, no grease, light batter. See you soon Wards!!!!

Called here after seeing the reviews on Tripadvisor and we weren't dissappointed. The fish we had were enomously delicious or is that deliciously enormous or both. The service was fast and very efficient. I will definately go here again

We were in the area visiting Bempton Cliffs and decided to visit Bridlington for an early fish supper. Wards was chosen on the strength of the Tripadvisor reviews and because some of the other places we saw looked dire. Great choice. They've a couple of tables outside overlooking the sea and harbour - handy for us as we had the dog. But the food is the star of the show. Very fresh, skinned haddock in a delicious batter. Not greasy. And you could taste the good quality oil. Chips were equally good. Big portion. One of the better chippies I've been to recently.

Was my first visit but attracted by the banner saying best fish and chips of 2018. Not at all disappointed the fish and chips were superb. If ever I am in this part of the world again will definitely return they were so good I would not risk going anywhere else.

Just been for lunch today was amazing nice portion sizes and good quality food the staff was lovley the small lady with blonde hair was very friendly and nothing was to much bother for her would highly recommend it

Firstly the service was dire. I could barely understand what the man serving was saying to me. Asked for wrapped but was not offered salt and vinegar so had to unwrap them to do that before we could go down to the seafront.

We are very fussy when it comes to fish and chips. Bad ones are not worth the calories! Chose Wards due to their trip adviser reviews and are very glad that we did. We had haddock and a small portion of chips. The fish was lovely, moist, thick and white with just the right amount of light crisp batter. The chips could have done with another minute or two in the fryer to be more crisp but that’s just personal taste. The staff were very friendly. If we are in Bridlington again we will certainly return to wards.
