The best fish and chips I've had in a long while. Perfectly cooked generous portions. Absolutely delicious. Increasingly hard to find decent fish and chips these days but these guys know exactly how to source the quality ingredients and cook them to perfection.

Always excellent service and quality fish.

Incredibly clean. Good portions and the Haddock is as described, not a sneaky substitute as in at least two other local shops.

Pulled off the motorway to take a break and looked on Google to see what was around: the "best fish and chips" in Yorkshire, apparently. IT IS MOST CERTAINLY NOT! As soon as you walk in, the smell of old, burnt oil hits you. The two young guys serving seemed friendly enough and Dad (?) helps out round the back. The fish is cooked to order, but both the batter and chips were burnt brown by the old oil. The large fish was medium at best and dry. There were plenty of chips, but these were also dry and half were inedible. I wouldn't usually write a review for a chippy, but all the glowing reviews are misleading. The picture of the fish with golden batter is NOTHING like that which I was served. In fact, I'm off to a coffee shop now to hide the taste of burnt oil in my mouth. Yes; that bad. They do seem very busy though, so I guess some people like it. Either that or there is little competition locally. In my humble opinion, one to avoid. (Large haddock and chips £9.50)

Just got a large cod and chips got 2 pieces of cod not a large cod I only ate a few chips as the rest were burnt I’ve been eating cod and chips for 40+years and this is the worst thing I’ve ever eaten I can’t believe this was described as chips I’ll never get this again

Beautiful fish and chips - batter lovely and crispy and not too thick! Very reasonable prices and lovely service.

We usually use the other fish and chip shop when visiting Howden but we were glad we tried this one today lovely friendly staff sat at the tables round the back and really enjoyed our food batter was crisp and golden and the chips very tasty we will definitely use this one again on our next visit

99.9% fish is cooked well so on rare occasions it can be over cooked but always very happy to go back. Chips are always well cooked and plenty so you won't go hungry. The staff are always really nice.

Usually good fish and chips but tonight the fish was good but the chips awful. Little scrappy bits and lots discoloured grey ones. Very disappointed!

What a find! Super fresh, delicious fish and piping hot fresh cooked chips. The curry sauce was apparently delicious as we're the mushy peas. The service was friendly, welcoming and fast. We were given a free, large bottle of Pepsi to accompany our excellent value meal for four. We aren't local but will certainly pop in again when we are next in the area.

We live abroad - and, as a Yorkshireman in exile I so miss good fish and chips. Ths place is as good as it comes. We called in one evening, our fish was cooked to order. It was a beautifully thick, white piece of Cod, cooked superbly which we ate, with a portion of chip, sitting in their car park. I have reviewed this place before and will continue to sing its praises!!! Thank you guys!!!

Drove out of my way to get to this chippy 15 mins before it was due to close and it HAD CLOSED EARLY (pre 2 pm at lunchtime). Staff were still in the back. I never tasted the food but I’m giving a low score for misinformation and wasted drive/petrol.

Honestly one of the best fish and chips I have ever had, chips beautifully coloured and cooked, fish not greasy with a wonderful crisp batter and perfectly cooked. Seriously worth going to. And they gave me a free bottle of pepsi as I assume my order was quite a decent size for the family!

Visited the fish bar on Monday 26th June 2023 as it was the only place open in the area. We were on a cycle ride to Hull to catch a ferry to Holland. So you can imagine we were ravenous. We all ordered fish and chips. Fish was tasteless and the chips were described as “twice cooked but not cooked”. Some were like cardboard and others were just not cooked. All agreed they were some of the worst fish and chips we have ever tasted. I have 5 other witnesses in the group.

Got chips on Wednesday, awful, they were dry and some weren't cooked properly. My husband got fish, he said that was "ok". Never going there again!!

Delicious food every time we have been there. Even more welcome today after an exhausting time in hospital . Nothing needs improving to be honest.

Travelled 50 miles from West Yorkshire to visit this chip shop. That's how good it is. Been a few times now. Always excellent quality. Best chip shop in Yorkshire 👍

I really do enjoy fish and chips and curry sauce. I have updated this review as I have travelled yet again the 35 miles to get THE best fish and chips. I am a Thai boxer and the fish here is the best without doubt. Me and my family really do enjoy fish and chips and curry sauce.

Fantastic it is July 2022 and you can get a large battered sausage a medium portion of chips (which are large in reality) any sauce (peas beans curry gravy) and any cold drink for £5.80. You can't beat the price and the quality is good as well, always prompt efficient friendly service I hope they are still making money at these prices I fear not but either way long may they continue

Disappointed with the quality of the fish, which is not normal for this Fish Shop. Given an extra fish bite and burger, but that doesn't compensate for the poor fish quality! I don't mind paying for quality but in this instance the quality lacked. Hope the owners are not compromising on quality yet charging the same? It shows.....

Fabulous fish and chips, cooked fresh hot and crispy, and served in a clean environment, like a another reviewer wrote, so clean, you could eat straight off the floor, however the staff weren’t as happy I was expecting, as one reviewer wrote.. still excellent fish and chips.. and if served with a smile would have tasted heavenly

Excellent food. Large portion sizes. I would have ordered less if I had known how much I would get. It was so good we all ate until fit to burst but still ended up having to throw some away. If this was my local chip shop (and I wish it was) I would have known better.

Great fish and chips and friendly service but prices have kept creeping up and are on the expensive side. Now we only go every 4 to 5weeks instead of once a week. £3.20 for a large chips???? Is excessive IMHO.
