My elderly father has recently moved in across from this place and while there doing some diy he sent me for 3 chip buttys @£9 where do these ppl get there prices from pray on senior citizens..tried to justify saying a bag of potatoes 25kg £21.50 at the cost of his chip buttys make them more valuable then gold...think he get his spuds from the same place jack got his magic beans from lol.. The owners are Tea leafs in my opinion pray on the weakest ppl in society

Who ever has just been hired doesn't have an inch of customer service! Feel unwelcome, ignored and she's just blaintly right up rude. Putting my family off going now which is sad because this is local to us. Are you just employing extremely menopausal women? It deffinatly feels like that walking in lol

New owner I think, but still good quality and sensible prices, as far as chippy's I can't fault it, parking on the street opposite and they take phone orders

Heard about this Chip Shop , I popped in lunch time to get the food . The food was at excellent quality, great customer service , the staff were all so friendly and polite, the experience made me fell very comfortable amd will definitely be using this Chip Shop again .

Used to be a great chip shop but since you have got a new fryer it isn’t anymore. The chips taste like flour don’t think cooked properly Even you’re curry sauce isn’t nice anymore too Bring back your other fryer she was great

Fish not fresh. You can smell the fish from a distance. A sign of unfresh fish!

Service was spot on .. food well under expectations .. chips were under cooked and had no colour .. asked for a large fish and that was the same size of the medium fish .. overall not very good needs some improvement

We come here a lot as a family, it is easily the best is Cottingham. The fish is always flaky and really fresh, and the batter is always really crispy. Good sized portions and comes in a box rather than paper, which is a nice touch.

There was only 4 people in the shop. I stood and waited and waited. The girl serving did not even acknowledge me. I waited until 2 people received their order. Still ingnored so i asked "i only want a bag of chips do i have to wait" as i knew the 2 men infront of me where waiting for fish. The girl serving said "yes you have to wait" I was not going to wait for fish to cook. Gone are the days where staff could rattle off lots of orders that did not involve a fish, while waiting for it to cook. It was obviously too difficult for her.

Ordered online and advised would be ready in 15 minutes. Arrived 5 minutes early to be left waiting in a queue with no system for online collections. Turns out my order was waiting there all the time I was queueing. Furthermore the obvious regulars jumping the queue. Wont be returning.

Portions not big enough...fish was so small. If wouldn't have travelled away from here I would have taken it back...last time I visit

Tasted lovely, but not good value for money! Ordered the medium fish and chips a couple of times now and the fish was very thin and disappointing. Thicker fillets please!

Tried to place simple order, server got it wrong. Repeated my order, server then answered telephone and ignored me. Tried again to place order, server still didn't understand. Several "locals" join queue which is now outside the door. THEY GOT THEIR ORDERS TAKEN AND SERVED, READY TO LEAVE, BEFORE MYSELF AND THE OTHER NON-LOCAL IN THE QUEUE. When I finally had servers attention, the caller who rang his order through, walked to the front to say Ii rang my order in AND GOT SERVED ALSO! The man serving insisted i dont touch the salt and vinegar AS HE CAN ONLY DO THAT! After 45 minutes wait, I finally got served and overcharged. Got home, order was wrong. IF YOU ARE NOT A LOCAL, DO NOT TRY TO BE A CUSTOMER! they obviously don't want custom of fresh faces.

Had fish Pattie and peas, fish was bland, Pattie was a dark colour odd tasting, probably been sat there a while too, was a bit hard and dry, peas where warm. Not impressed at all.

Extremely disappointed, very overpriced, customer service, inadequate, -£4.80 large fish (unfortunately small fish would be more like it -very greasy -no taste whatsoever -communication skills, definitely requires addressing, unfortunately order wrong incomplete although had no problem with still charging .. Can't say I'll be returning any time in the foreseeable!! Are Fridays still doing the fantastic £3.50 -offer? Small fish, chips and peas!!!

Just finished my chips!!!! Easily the best Fish and Chip shop in Hull, the food is fantastic. The staff are so nice and always very friendly. They always chat with my son which makes him smile. This chippy is always busy because it is the best. I would defo recommend this chip shop to everyone.

Visited castle hill hospital and after our visit we wanted something to eat so went for fish and chips we got the meal deal for £5 worth every penny and was beautiful the fish was cooked perfect and loved the sage and onion Patti will defo be back again visited from Scarborough

Best Fish & Chips in Cottingham. We have tried the others in Cottingham and this is head and shoulders above the rest. My family demand we go when they visit!

The fish is always cooked fresh and the batter is nice and golden. The quality of the food is really good and we wouldn't go anywhere else for our chippy night.

I agree with a previous review about the decreased size of the fish but I wont be returning for other reasons. I have been a fairly frequent customer and chose Fab Fish this Good Friday. It was pretty busy and unlike usually fish was being fried and put in the hot cupboard. I do not know what happened but I chose a medium fish which was smaller than a small mainly batter and the fish was no dry as to be inedible. A friend also bought fish the same evening and said he was really ill. Neither of us will be returning again due to the quality control. Shame as its easier for me to park and the staff have always been very friendly

Stop in here for fish and chips lunch. Staff very nice and very good service. Fish was Fresh and the batter ice and light. Although very tasty and well cooked we all found the fillets were very on the thin side so a little dry in places and more better than fish. But overall a nice meal

,Moved into the area a few months ago and was using Papas. Fab fish was nearer to me so I tried it one night and I would not go anywhere else now. Staff are friendly and the fish is the best. I use it twice a week and have always had a good meal.

Very clean which is always a good sign. The girls are very polite and helpful. The menu is clear and competitive on price, given there are quite a few "chippies " in the area. Food was fresh, hot and of good portion size. Highly recommend

After alot of bad reports about this chip shop with all this snow thought I'd give it a try instead of going in the snow to my norm one well it has lived up to its rep fish batter was not cooked wet and looked like wall paper paste . the chip had more oil on them than Bob carvers

What an experience. The fish and chips were amazing. Fresh as can be, the chips were delicious and everything had the right amount of grease but not too much. Thoroughly enjoyed.

The best batter on fish (haddock and cod) that ever had- usually discard, but this was quite wonderful.

Just round the corner from where we live so when we need a quick easy and taste non hassle lunch or tea it is ideal
