Came in to order and said would be back in 15 minutes to pick up. When returned, still had to wait a while. Once back home, disappointed with the amount of Chips and the Battered Sausages were quite hard giving the impression they were left from the leftovers from Lunchtime. Won't be visiting again.

Sobreprecio y sobrevalorado, mal servicio también. Literalmente no tiene sentido reservar - preordenamos, llegamos a la hora asignada, luego tuvimos que esperar 20 minutos mientras lo cocinaban. Cuando nos quejamos de esto, no un indicio de disculpa, el tipo simplemente sonrió. No volverá, hay mejores lugares justo al lado de Westbury.

Really great fish and chips. Shame I'm moving away.

Thought I’d try this place as we usually go to Simply Fish. Food was *generally* pleasant but unfortunately not worth the really small portions, particularly if you are catering for a group. I ordered a large chips as in my experience this is a bundle the size of a small toddler- and should easily feed 4, but a ‘large chips’ here is more of an accompaniment that gets put in the box with the fish. Except it’s nearly a fiver- not a couple of quid. It is only really enough for two adults, normal portions- not generous ones. But much more expensive than a massive bag elsewhere! Once in the car, I had to run back and get more chips to have enough! Unfortunately small portions also had an impact on food quality as the chicken strips were so tiny that they dried out in the fryer and were inedible for the non-fish eater in the party. A decent sized mini fillet of chicken would have prevented this.

Dreadful soggy half-cooked chips. Standards have really fallen.

Very poor quality food I use the fish bar on regular basis and have Deliveroo delivered it Normally have plenty of chips with a steak or chicken pie and curry sauce Today arrived just had anothe chips for half a butter the curry sauce was cold and so was the pie in the middle ended up put in microwave to warm up Very disappointed as normal very good portions and all ways hot

I realise they’re trying very hard since I heard the staff member with the very very loud voice telling his mate the chips now have to be cooked to order. However although the fish was beautifully cooked the chips were dreadful, a very miserly portion of which fully a third were too rock hard to eat. For this the cost was £12.40

Burger was raw ! So glad I checked the burger before eatting. I’m pregnant so could have easily made me or my unborn child really poorly.

If i could leave no stars i would food was terrible and under cooked 🤢

No sé cuándo ganaron su ‘premio’ pero dudo que fuera reciente y definitivamente no con el cocinero de esta noche. Chips absolutamente horribles, basura en realidad, pequeños trozos crujientes mezclados con chips empapados pálidos un poco más grandes. Volví y se lo dije, pero lo mejor que podían ofrecer era encogerse de hombros. ¡Toda una basura!

Going downhill unfortunately. Been going here for years however the last three times I’ve been there has been a noticeable decline, and no longer seems to offering the same high standards or value which made it so popular. The size of a large chips has decreased significantly and your not getting much for nearly £5 now. The service has also declined and is much slower and less attentive. Hopefully this is just a blip and the owners get back on top of it, as it has been a great chippy for many years.

My fish dinner was cooked to order and was ready fairly quickly. The staff were attentive keeping me updated over the timings of my meal and engaged in general conversation. The food was presented well in a box with the chips separated from the fish and a slice of lemon with the fish. The mushy peas came separate in a pot. The food was gorgeous and the portion size was just right. Will use their establishment again if I am in the area again.

This place has improved quite a bit. I stopped going here a couple of years ago because the food was disgusting and the staff were rude. But I thought I would try it today (July 2024) and it was quite nice. Fish was fresh and chips not too greasy. Portions are small and it's not cheap. Staff were much nicer today and efficient.

Scampi and chips - one of the best and freshest I've ever had

I wish I could leave 5 stars . however. 1) ordered large haddock and chips with large battered sausage ( for my dog, dog owners you know the score 🤣). Arrived in plenty of time and service was great. 2) returned and found large sausage was only small. Luckily that was the dogs portion. Food was excellent fresh fish batter was one of the best and portion size was more than adequate. However I can't give 5 stars because my poor pooch was given a small sausage instead of the large one that I paid for. I would use again but making sure I get what I paid for.

Nice fish and chips but a very small portion for the price. A large fish and chips is comparable to a small at other takeaways. I would not return because of this.

Tonight’s fish and chips were rubbish.The fish was over cooked and the chips very salty.I just cannot understand as a fish and chip shop you cannot get your food right.Obviously the owner puts all his efforts into the clifton village shop and shows no Interest in the Stoke Bishop Shop.

My first time there,ordered 2 cod and chips very small cod, chips barely warm.curry sauce,basic slop. Had the home made tar tar,£2.60 rip off. Two cackling girls serving.put the boxes on the counter,then asked if I wanted a bag, what a joke. Also had fish cake, over done. You guys need to wake up and smell the coffee....... award winning. Ummmmmmmm

Can I suggest that if you want to waste an hour of your life, let’s face it we all have so much spare time, go Stoke Bishop Fish Bar. The serving is so appalling that I waited for 48 minutes for one potion of chips and a piece of fish. Now if like me, you have a neurological degenerative brain disease (Parkinson’s), then 48 minutes seems an excessive amount of time to waste on fish and chips that quite frankly were below average. The Young stuff were so out of their depth they were unable to cope with multiple online orders and real people ordering in person. Lacking any structure or system resulted in complete chaos and people having to wait 48 minutes for fish and chips is unrealistic. Nipped in the area for sometime now, I have also noticed that the ‘five star’ Stoke Bishop Fish&Chips has a real problem with holding on its staff. May I suggest that if you advertise yourself as a five star business you actually behave like a five star business and not waste peoples time by the inefficiency and lack of control. Not five star customer service and five food.

Well after passing here for years and being connected to clifton fish bar which I's verry nice thought I'd try it , big mistake after waiting 15 mins for the fish no chips ready only 2 people in the shop.well 12.20 for cod and chips I was quite disappointed when opened the box not even a child's portion the fish didn't taste that nice and was swimming in fat actually soaked through the box on to my leg chips more scrumps than chips .shouldn't of asked for salt and viniger as think the lid must of came of the salt as was smothered in it.how you supposedly made it to top 100 in UK I'll nether know .1st and last won't be going back

Disappointing visit. Forgetting orders and writing down all orders on a piece of paper - really?? It’s 2024!! Ordered sausage and chips and one fish and chips. Was told would be 5 minutes. 19 minutes later asked where order was as others arriving after me had arrived, been served and left with their food. Sorry - we forgot to cook your cod was the answer!! £22.10 later left annoyed. Others clearly frustrated too as confusion caused by inexperienced staff

Just paid £14.50 for a cod, ‘large’ chips and pot of curry sauce. The ‘large’ chips were a joke in terms of quantity, much much smaller than what we used to get as a standard portion. Phoned to ask if this was normal and they didn’t really say anything. Inflation can’t be helped but trimming down on portions as well as increasing prices seems a step too far. A shame because their cod was lovely.

Really poor service the chips were soggy and mushy, my chicken burger had no lettuce in and forgot my curry sauce. For such an expensive chip shop expected a lot better defo won’t be back here.

Really disappointed ridiculous amount of salt it has burnt my tongue eating a few chips … I couldn’t even eat the food . Didn’t look at the reviews before I went into the shop but I wish I did now . Go elsewhere if you want decent service and food.

Sometimes it's ok... Sometimes it's pretty awful. Never have we been here and received the same portion size twice. It's like they make the portion size up every time! Real mixed bag in quantity and quality.

Popped in here for lunch expecting to find some sort of lunchtime deal but no such thing here unfortunately! I ordered cod and reg chips which i had to wait for 10 mins for and was incredibly expensive for a small portion. I also asked for Salt and Vinegar but there was no trace of this. Customer service was pretty non existent except for taking my order and then telling me when it was ready. Would not rush back here especially at those prices - it's a piece of battered fish and some chips FGS!!!

Ordered one large haddock (see picture) and large chips. The large haddock is smaller than a dinner knife . I know inflation is kicking in but this is ridiculous. Large haddock cost over £9. What terrible value. This take away clearly pushing their luck and trying to take advantage of inflation . Increasing prices and simultaneously making smaller portions is not on

Please forget my review from 11 months, there was a different person frying in there and the chips didnt taste like they use too and after eating a few, the rest went in the bin. I wont be going back. I would give no stars if I could.

Collection service waste of time. Collection time given got there to pick it up at allocated time and the fish hadn’t even been started. People coming in off the street were served their orders before me who had ordered. Complete and utter waste of time pre ordering. Stood in shop for another 20 minutes!

Really disappointed- over £20 for 2 portions of fish and chips - ordered in store and waited for foodFish was good, chips served with it were cold and tasted as if they had been left in the chip tray before being served for a long time. Really awful food, bearing mind the cost. Fish and chips used to be a cheap take away , now fairly pricey - and to receive such poor quality food for the price is a real disappointment

This is a nice chip shop and our local but they deserve a bad review for their speed of service, the last 3x visits were 45 minutes, 35 minutes and today 15 minutes and I only ordered a portion of chips today! The 35 minute visit was when I had pre-ordered using the app as well. I really hope management read this and review their procedures to get customers served more quickly as it makes me not want to visit again.

Food is nice but my recent experience is that they prioritise online orders ahead of walk in ones. I went in today, I was the only customer in the shop and I waited 25 mins.. far too long Small cod is 7 quid!

We used to come here a lot but not sure what’s happened, food is really below average now. Plus my order was Wrong and when I went back to tell them I was made to feel like I was wrong. I didn’t mind playing their prices as the Quality was worth it. Not paying that much for a soggy fish , no thanks mate. Definitely go somewhere else from now on.

I've only been to the store a handful of times, but I have to say that their food is 10/10 every time.

I buy fish and chips here regularly. The cheerful staff prepare consistently well-cooked fish and chips in generous portions, not greasy, cooked to order and served with a lemon wedge in a cardboard box which keeps them from getting crushed or soggy. Not the cheapest locally but certainly the best!

This was disappointing. I've been there a couple of times in the last 6 months and each time the fish has been either grey and rubbery and tasted like it had gone off or just dry and tasteless. The chips are ok, but a bit bland. The service is efficient rather than friendly, but I don't care about this if the food is good. This compares really badly to the Clifton branch which has always been excellent.

Why do they have"Award Winning chips" as boasted? i have tasted better and not been ripped off with the amount ive recieved either!

Thought we'd try this place for the first time tonight... So glad we did, as we have finally found a local takeaway that is not only edible, but is also enjoyable to eat! Everything we ordered was cooked well and tasted scrumptious... Ate the lot!

The fish and chips were great. All freshly cooked. However, there have been times when the chips are not as fresh as they might be, make sure you visit when they've just come out of the fryer.

Ordered a cheese and onion pasty and got a Cornish by mistake, didn't realise until I got home. I'm vegetarian so it wasn't a very happy accident...

I was very disappointed in the response when I asked (in addition to an adult’s meal) for a children’s portion of fish goujons and was told I had to pay for a set meal including a drink and pudding. I asked if they could just charge me for the food I was having as didn’t want the other items. The response was totally rigid “it’s a set meal”. No budging, no understanding, no explanation. Then I asked to speak to the manager who came over and right in front of me said “tell the lady it’s a set meal”. I could have dealt with it if he had said that the price of the extra items was negligible, or even if he had apologised. I was not left feeling like a valued customer and will be taking my custom elsewhere in future.

Tenemos bacalao y papas fritas aproximadamente cada seis semanas. A veces el bacalao es excelente pero otras veces no es tan bueno. Ayer (miércoles) mi bacalao estaba seco y las patatas fritas al mediodía. La última vez (un viernes) tanto el pescado como las patatas fritas fueron buenos. ¿No está seguro si esto refleja el cuidado que se toma al cocinar o el pescado? Si crees que este Fish Bar está en el top 100 en el país puede depender del día de la semana? ? ¿Algo para que miren los dueños?

Good ol chippy with nice chicken nuggets

Llamamos para ver si podemos ordenar con anticipación, la llamada telefónica fue grosera. Llegamos a la tienda y les preguntamos por qué no reciben pedidos por teléfono. Dijeron porque cocinan fresco cuando estás allí. Sin embargo, la salchicha maltratada que pedimos simplemente se sacó del calentador, por lo que pido diferir. También tuvimos que explicarle al personal algunas veces acerca de lo que queríamos cuando lo estaba pasando por la caja. Cogí dos latas de coca del refrigerador y las puse en el mostrador. Hizo el pedido y me pidió un pago. Le dije que agregara las latas, cosa que no hizo. Además del servicio que necesita mejorar, la comida es bastante buena.

Probably the best in Bristol, and the one on stoke lane is equally as good, you will have to wait as all the fish is cooked fresh whilre you wait

I went here for lunch one day when I happened to be in the area. Ordered cod and chips with mushy peas. With salt and vinegar, the fish and chips were really tasty. The mushy peas were ok.

Set in the middle of Stoke Bishop this establishment cooks fish to order ensuring it's fresh and hot, with ample portions,the chips are okay too!

He usado esta tienda chip local más de una vez, pero siempre quedo la sensación menos que impresionado, especialmente con las patatas fritas - parece claro, le faltaba sabor y para una gran bolsa de costo 3 libras. 50! Esta es, probablemente, el más que he pagado por una bolsa de patatas cortadas, fabulosa incluso Rick Steins eran más baratos y probado es que tienen un menú variado y para satisfacer las necesidades de determinadas personas. Sin gluten/etc que celíacos es bueno saber. En general, y no me decepcionó lo visitaremos de nuevo. . . .

Tengo una comida para llevar esta noche de bacalao, patatas fritas y salsa tartare de Marco. El pescado y las papas fritas más deliciosos que hemos probado: pescado fresco, suculento y perfectamente cocinado, envuelto en un crujiente y sabroso batido que no abruma al pescado; las patatas fritas eran crujientes por fuera y maravillosamente suaves por dentro; y una deliciosa salsa tartare casera. Esta excelente comida se complementó con un servicio alegre y amable en un lugar muy concurrido. ¿Qué no se podría amar?

Excelente pescado y patatas fritas, donde en realidad cocinar el pescado fresco cuando pides. Mi suegro quería uno de pescado con pasta más ligero que ellos no tuvieron ningún problema en hacerlo. Mi única crítica es que prefiere sus fichas para ser cocinados un poco...

Nos gusta llevar lejos de la "Chippy" a menudo, y el pescado es siempre abundante y fresco con patatas fritas realmente bueno. Los scampi también es una delicia. El personal es amable y alegre, y siempre disfrutamos de nuestras comidas.

Have been using this fish bar for quite a while since being diagnosed with coeliac. Our takeaway this evening was bitterly disappointing. The fish was ok but some of the batter was soggy but I have never tasted chips quite like this. They looked anaemic, very pale but looked fresh but tasted awful and were very hard. Very disappointed as the meal isn't the cheapest around (but convenient). Come on Stoke Bishop fish bar - shake yourselves or risk losing lots of custom which would be such a shame!!!

Have used this chipshop for meny years But for the last few weeks the cips have been poor lots of small bits and have been tough/ hard to eat and today my cheese burger was cold in the middle so we are not happy with the food sorry to say we will be going somewhere else.

Popped in on the way home from the balloon festival . A little understaffed which meant a wait for hot fresh tasty fish & chips.

Bought 2 large cod and 1 regular chips at 18.30 this evening. So disappointed, the chips were rubbery and were definitely old chips that had been reheated. I know you can pay a premium for twice or even triple cooked chips but..............these were truly horrible.Such a shame, fish lovely but at the price charged will not be going back. Over £11

Went in today for large cod & chips it was awful cod was dry chips were under cooked hard charged me £8.20p for it I said to the guy that served me that's a complete rip off you can get first class fish & chips for between £5.00 & £6.00 don't waist your money and go there felt totally ripped off.

Have visited this place on at least 5 occasions and the fish and chips have always been top quality. They do gluten free fish and chips every Monday evening which is a real treat for the gluten intolerant. Good variety of fish-very generous quantities.

It used to serve great fish and chips but we've eaten twice in the last two months and both times batter has been over cooked and full of oil, the fish has been dried out and undersized. Such a pity.

Been here many times, normally very good. However I bought 2 x Cod and chips last night and it was a complete let down the fish fillets where so thin they both split in two pieces, the fish was really dry and the batter was soggy. Its such a let down when your looking forward to getting a good meal and you end up with something as bad as i did and its not cheap!!

Very good quality fish and chips from a clean and friendly establishment. It has limited 'eat in' facilities, very basic, but then Fish and Chips has never been an 'eat in' meal! Well recommended.

Thia part of Bristol is blessed with some really good fish and chip places. Just go down the road towards Sea Mills and on the left is a really good place. Cooked to order. Great service and a lot less money for good food. Here I ordered "large" fish and chips and got what I would expect elsewhere as "ordinary".So, if you really value an "upmarkwt Stoke Bishop" experience then go here but if you want flavour and value go elsewhere.

This place boasts that it is one of the top 100 fish 'n' chip places in the UK. However, it is far from this based on our experience. My wife was very ill, overnight, having had scampi & chips. Of course, I can't say with certainty that their food was to blame but it seems like a rather odd coincidence to me. I too had a runny tummy this morning.Our meals (I had sea bass and chips) were not very tasty. There were two staff - one serving and the other cooking. Whilst I waited for my order there seemed to be a complete lack of communication between them as orders became confused. One lady, who was waiting for her fish & chips, had her order given to another customer. The cook did not seem to be listening to the server.So, we won't be going there again, and will revert to the more traditional, and tasty, bar in Westbury-on-Trym.
