Absolutely amazing food. My partner and I both had the tempura sea food to start, which was delicious. We followed this with a Green curry and mixed sea food curry. I asked for the spice level to be altered which was done without hesitation, and again absolutely beautiful food. Portions are very good, flavours amazing and the lovely juliana was the perfect host, with nothing to much trouble. Thank you so much, we will be returning

Simply the best fish and chips I have ever had. Never fails to impress. Everything is made fresh and that makes the difference.

Would not recommend. Before going to this restaurant I was so excited to try the seafood boil, I haven't been able to find a good place that does seafood boil in Bristol so I was delighted that Palomar does! Before going to the restaurant I read about a 1/3 of the reviews and looked through the entire menu online. I saw most of the complaints were about slow service or rude waiters but as someone who works in a restaurant myself. I thought most people were mostly being "karens" or slightly unreasonable. As a young person I thought I would give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt and just try it. Going to Palomar tonight we were greeted by Praveen at the door who was absolutely lovely. He walked us through the menu and was so warm and welcoming. When our drinks came a little late he was so apologetic, but we didn't mind as we are all hospitality workers and these things happen. The drinks we had were lovely so it was worth the wait! However, when we received our seafood boil it was almost tasteless. The flavour was not "creole inspired" at all. I asked for both salt and pepper to see if we could add something to the broth. Then ended up using 5 small pots of garlic butter to attempt to add flavour. As the restaurant was busy and they were clearly understaffed we didn't have much of an opportunity to talk to the staff about our boil. After we had added the garlic butter it did taste better so we were able to eat our meal. When we asked for the bill, I asked to speak to Raf who I assume was the manager to talk about the boil being almost tasteless and to ask if we could get the garlic butter taken off the bill (they were £2.50 each). I'd like to really emphasise I said this in a polite and calm manner and in no way did I say we would not pay for the seafood boil. I would have been happy to pay for the garlic butter if they weren't able to take it off. Instead of a reasonable reply, I was told "What's that got to do with me? You should have read the menu beforehand". The tone that Raf used to speak to me was so incredibly rude, if I ever spoke like that at my restaurant I would get a disciplinary. After this comment Raf went on to completely ignore me and went on to make jokes with my friend who I would like to point out is white (I am a Black woman). His comment took me aback and made me feel incredibly upset and disrespected. Again, I would have been happy to pay for the garlic butter but speaking to someone in that way in or out of a restaurant is uncalled for. I would honesty say if you want authentic seafood boil do not go to Palomar. And I sincerely hope no one has the same experience I did.

I booked an afternoon tea for my mother’s 87th birthday, we were warmly greeted but the only nice table available was right under the air con, which was a bit cold for her. She kept her jacket on and it was ok but not ideal. (The other table was in the middle and not at all cosy. The rest of the place was almost empty, which didn’t make a lot of sense, but anyway). There’s three of us so I order one Afternoon tea and one cream tea , I’m expecting a nice display but… three plates on top of each other, ugly plain white hotel plates, and the tiniest sandwiches and cakes you can imagine, kind of lost in there.. They were good, but so small! Sandwiches were smaller than a quarter of a slice of bread. The Victoria sponge was less than square inch, a tiny bite. The macaroon was like a button. The Eclair was.. a half! They actually cut a small eclair in half. It was ok because my mum doesn’t eat much and the quality was alright (not exceptional by any standards). The scones were doughy and the jam so cold and congealed you couldn’t spread it. My other daughter arrived and then my husband, we ordered another cream tea and coffees and by this time the place had filled up and service had gone completely, we had to wait and wait to get the orders through. She asked if we’d photographed the display and I told her it was a sad sight and I didn’t even think of taking a picture! Now I wish I had. In the end they also overcharged us by £10, but since my husband paid I only found out later. Maybe my expectations were too high, I was disappointed (but my mum had a great time so that’s all that mattered really!)

Dissatisfied, poor valve for money £12.50 for what was barely enough food to feed a child and slow service, just eat orders were constantly prioritised over waiting customers in the shop.. I won’t be a returning customer Thankfully 😅

They've obviously been taken over as I didn't recognise the staff in there and the fish and chips were just awful. The chips were frozen and not fresh and the batter on the fish was disgusting!! Avoid at all costs

This is a very strange place, run by some very, very strange people. Despite booking, the initial welcome was "off". We had a table upstairs and we felt forgotten. Fishers does not really get customer service or care. We eventually managed to place a drinks order and then waited, and waited. Eventually 20mins later two drinks arrived. We had to chase the other three. Eventually flagged down a "waiter" who was dressed like he was working in the garden and had dirty hands too. He was rude, clueless, stupid, arrogant and clearly does not possess the social skills to work in the hospitality industry. We placed our main food order with him, despite him moaning...... The food then took almost one hour to arrive. When it did it was incomplete and arrived in phases. Side orders were missed and one main never arrived. No apology. No care. Zero attention to detail. It wasn't just us. The tables are so close together we cannot help but hear what is being said at other tables. Three other tables moaned about missing items, wrong bills, poor service etc. The whole place comes across as a sad joke. The quality of fish cooking displayed was very average, so even the heart of what Fishers is about it is not very good at. The whole place is dirty, the loos disgusting and the staff don't give a damn. It is very over priced for what it is. People giving this place good reviews need to get out and experience what a good seafood restaurant looks and tastes like. It sure as heck is not Fishers. In one word "avoid".

Booked a ticket to see the film about Trump's life for a showing yesterday. I qualify for a small discount of 50p for lower £....Ludicrously small discount but fine. Of course its a pleasant 'happening' venue beside the river etc so can charge more. The film was an interesting condensed biopic with a very good understated accurate rendering of Trump by the actor 'Sebastian Stan' who wore spot-on wigs to get that unique sun ripened straw effect & other styles over the years of his life. From what I have read of Trump and seen on news etc, the film played down his vileness. All acting excellent eg Trump's ruthless mentor lawyer early on who seemed to give 'the orange one' some rules to live by eg 'Never admit defeat', 'Always Win' by any method etc. Someone sitting behind me kicked my chair a few times - not a child but an adult...When the film was over I saw her leave and asked her about it! She brushed it off and laughed - I smiled too....Entitled very middle class ie Watershed type. When I visited the 'convenience' a poncey overdressed short male told me hurriedly a few times which cubicle was free as he went into one himself! I was so surprised that I did not realise what he meant ie it only the 2nd 'gender fluid' or 'gender free' loos I have visited so far so I was taken aback at a busybody male, (who had seen the film sitting with the seat-kicker!) directing my visit! Very new shiny room and clean but I did felt a little uncomfortable having a few males nearby in the room as I washed my hands after. I guess I will get used to it... All need to be catered for etc but the reason for these new loos is to not offend 'trans' who are, no doubt, less than 1% of the population and then 99% are male ( ie trans female) Whose needs are being ignored and whose catered to? Have read about women or even a child being assaulted in mixed gender toilets...(not likely in Watershed but less busy places..) Looked in the pleasant cafe with views of the river and saw possibly home baked 'red velvet' sponge slices for £5 - other cakes £5 or £4 etc I could afford but decided not to pay so much ie £10 for cake and hot drink. Not unusual for cafes nowadays. Saw my bank app shows ticket cost £9 and some pence....which seems more than I was shown originally when booking but I seldom visit so ok .In the past saw a few independent films there eg 'The Story of the Weeping Camel' set in Mongolia which my then young daughter and I loved - like going back in time ie mainly pre industrial culture full of charm and love for nature, calm, peaceful, wise, hardworking people caring for each other, the land, the camels.

Ordered fish and chips for the family. Best fish and chips we've had in ages. Crispy batter and the chips had a little crispness too. Very happy.

This cafe/bar is chaotic. To get the best from it you need time and lots of patience. Plenty staff but totally disorganised. Coffee is good and savoury light meals looked great - but we just didn’t have the time to wait for the food to arrive. It took 25 minutes for them to produce 2 coffees which we had to make take away as we’d waited so long. Meanwhile staff just stood around and looked a bit uncomfortable. Pity it seemed like a good venue.
