I booked an afternoon tea for my mother’s 87th birthday, we were warmly greeted but the only nice table available was right under the air con, which was a bit cold for her. She kept her jacket on and it was ok but not ideal. (The other table was in the middle and not at all cosy. The rest of the place was almost empty, which didn’t make a lot of sense, but anyway). There’s three of us so I order one Afternoon tea and one cream tea , I’m expecting a nice display but… three plates on top of each other, ugly plain white hotel plates, and the tiniest sandwiches and cakes you can imagine, kind of lost in there.. They were good, but so small! Sandwiches were smaller than a quarter of a slice of bread. The Victoria sponge was less than square inch, a tiny bite. The macaroon was like a button. The Eclair was.. a half! They actually cut a small eclair in half. It was ok because my mum doesn’t eat much and the quality was alright (not exceptional by any standards). The scones were doughy and the jam so cold and congealed you couldn’t spread it. My other daughter arrived and then my husband, we ordered another cream tea and coffees and by this time the place had filled up and service had gone completely, we had to wait and wait to get the orders through. She asked if we’d photographed the display and I told her it was a sad sight and I didn’t even think of taking a picture! Now I wish I had. In the end they also overcharged us by £10, but since my husband paid I only found out later. Maybe my expectations were too high, I was disappointed (but my mum had a great time so that’s all that mattered really!)

Honestly, disappointing. Service was slow. Prawns overcooked (starter). Main, chicken schnitzel - average, side salad had wilted & was warm. Truffle chips - it's truffle oil, & barely there. We didn't order dessert, only coffees. Overpriced, not great. That said, to end on a high - the waiter was great.

Had a very disappointing experience yesterday. The steak and chips were good but overpriced and all extras were exactly that, extra. The waitress/es failed to deliver the sauce and salad we ordered until after we’d finished eating despite asking twice. To their credit they didn’t charge us for those items and said they’d give us 10% off for the error. However when the bill arrived they’d charged us instead for two desserts that we didn’t order! There were only four tables eating over the lunch period so they certainly weren’t rushed off their feet. Overall a very underwhelming experience. The two stars are mostly for the location.

Met friends here today for lunch and spent a very pleasant few hours catching up over some nice food. We had previously visited when it was The Jetty (so it had been a while) and were expecting a lunch/table d’hote menu so were surprised to just see the a la carte on offer. Sometimes it’s nice to see a lighter/slightly cheaper menu at lunch. However we all saw something we liked the look of so ordered and must say that the food that arrived was very nice. Service from our waiter Rico was faultless, our table water was topped up before it was empty and our wine glasses were topped up regularly too. The restaurant area itself is very attractive, with nice seating and decorative accents. Two small issues if we were being particularly picky, firstly the ladies toilets, up 2 flights of stairs, are tiny. Just two cubicles and hardly any space to ‘wait’ unless you were stood in front of the sink. Disappointing for a restaurant of this size. The other thing we all found very peculiar was two groups of ladies who had obviously been using the spa area, entering the main restaurant and dining in dressing gowns & slippers?!?! Why is there not a separate area/room for this? Very odd to head out for a nice/celebratory lunch, dressed up with your partner and find yourself sitting next to a lady in just a dressing gown, not really acceptable in a city centre hotel restaurant please!

Lovely meal, amazing food and great service from Rico and Alec. Would definitely recommend to come to Bristol city centre harbour Hotel.

We ate here while staying at the hotel. Rico was welcoming and attentive during our meal. Both he and Lucy were very polite and efficient. The food being served was seasoned and delicious. I had the double baked cheese soufflé with smoked haddock and it was great.

Booked for Mother’s Day lunch, booked 3 weeks in advance and could only get 3.15pm table for 6. They said they weren’t doing anything special for Mother’s Day and it would be standard Sunday menu. 8 days later, whilst we were out of the country, I get an email with a Mother’s Day set menu and asking me to phone to pay £10 deposit each or the booking would be cancelled. As we were out of the country, I had to get my daughter to do this. Arrived on Mothering Sunday to find the restaurant 3/4 empty, we were sat on a large round table at the back by the open kitchen. The noise of mass cutlery and crockery being banged around as I assume they were filling up clean stocks was very disruptive especially to my elderly parents who both wear hearing aids and was not a good start. When our order was taken, she asked how we would like our roast beef, medium or medium to well done, she needn’t have asked as they all came out the same, rare. My mum didn’t enjoy hers as she likes well done and wrapped it up to take home for my dad who was disappointed that rare wasn’t offered originally so he enjoyed his. It was good that cauliflower cheese was included and came out in a small saucepan enough for two. Green veg was slightly lacking with just green beans. For the price, over £50 each, we all said we definitely have had better elsewhere, including my daughter who had the veggie wellington and my son in law who had the seafood linguine and said it was lacking in flavour. Looking around, most people were there for the afternoon tea which seemed very popular but that could have been down to the time. Service was a bit slow, so after 2.5hrs and just finishing our desserts, we had to rush to get the bill as my parking was due to expire and my parents needed to catch a bus. Needless to say none of us will be back as there are plenty of other restaurants in Bristol.

We had a most enjoyable afternoon tea at the Harbour hotel . A selection of delicious sandwiches, pastries , cakes and warm scones with clotted cream and jam . Super friendly staff and our waiter was a very helpful pleasant young man . I didn’t get his name but he said he was from Hong Kong. We will return and have the Sunday Lunch next time .

Visited for a valentines meal with my wife. Firstly, the service was slow which was perplexing given that there was only four couples, including the wife and I, to serve. We ordered three tempura prawns at £4 per prawn for our starter which looked un appetising when it arrived, and only two of them had flesh, the rest was just batter filled with gunge! My wife ordered a medium well sirloin steak which was pink inside but very chewy and difficult to cut. I ordered stone bass which I was told was the same as sea bass..it tasted and looked nothing like sea bass..i couldn't eat it. We googled it and found out that it is not sea bass. The best thing on the plates was the fries. The staff were very friendly but that was the only plus with this disappointing experience. Suffice to say, we will not be going back

I booked the restaurant to meet up with my girlfriends for a casual chat and dinner. We were served by Angie and Holly, both of whom were very attentive and helpful with my gluten allergy needs. The food was delicious, I had gluten-free fish, chips, and salad; my friends were also very happy with their choices. The place wasn't too busy (Monday eve), not sure if it is much busier at other times. The wine was great too! The reception staff showed us around the beautiful building in the heart of Bristol which was an unexpected bonus!

Dined in the restaurant on our first night, I had the seafood linguine my friend had the roast beef. Seafood linguine was tasteless but had a good amount of seafood. My friends dinner look great and was a big portion! Wish I’d have chosen that! It’s not cheap seafood linguine was £24! And the roast was around £20. For what you get I don’t think it’s worth it. The drinks are extortionate…£25 for 1 gin and 1 lime and soda! Breakfast on the other hand was lovely! Couldn’t fault it, it’s cooked fresh to order and has many options. The continental buffet is a nice touch, with many yogurts and granolas ect. Not sure how much it costs as mine was included in my deal.

We visited Bristol for a theatre night and wanted to eat somewhere not too far away from the hippodrome, so the harbour kitchen and bar was ideally located. The decor and restaurant was nice and stylish and it was not overly busy for a Saturday lunch. The food was ok, our meals didn’t blow us away and we felt they were overpriced. Seafood Linguine £24 Fish and chips £18 Service was a bit all over the place and we sat for a while with our meals in front of us that we couldn’t eat as we were not given any cutlery. Different waiters serving us throughout the meal and a couple of them were a bit odd.. We passed a Vietnamese restaurant nearby after we left the harbour kitchen and were kicking ourselves we hadn’t looked around enough. The smells coming from there were mouthwatering not to mention the wafts from the street food stalls in the alleys, which were needless to say swarming with customers. The Harbour Kitchen & Bar: All in all another style over substance experience and not memorable. Never mind, we’ve tried it but it’s unlikely we’ll be going back there next time we visit Bristol.

We were able to book last minute (needed somewhere to eat while in town). The food was really good. And the service was outstanding. It was a slightly odd atmosphere when we first arrived but then I realised that it was because we had booked early. During our meal the lights were turned down and the ambience significantly improved. I'd definitely recommend going but I'd wait until at least the twilight hours to get the best experience.

… at this restaurant! We had a similar experience to the last reviewer. We came to celebrate a birthday and were one of only three occupied tables (not unexpected as England were playing in the World Cup), though there was a wedding party in another room. But the service was still inattentive. I had to go to the counter to ask if we could order. And when the food arrived, it was clearly missing bits that had been promised on the menu, especially the veggie burger, which had almost no adornment at all. My salad was missing the main ingredient, broccoli, and was basically a bowl of salad leaves for £12. We complained about the burger, which was almost inedible, and they took that off the bill. We also took off the discretionary service charge. The wine was excellent, but still, we will certainly not return.

Having eaten here before, I thought it would be a nice treat to book myself and a friend into her for lunch. Several items on the menu were unavailable. What I ordered was slightly different to what was available, but I only got notified of this 20 minutes after I ordered. The starter (cheese souffle) was okay but nothing special, something you could easily make at home. The main (pear and gorgonzola ravioli) was very good. For desert, I ordered something which was supposed to come with salted caramel ice cream (a common flavour nowadays, hardly difficult to obtain). When it was brought out, it was clearly vanilla flavour but when I questioned it, I got the response “well it says salted caramel on the ticket.” Upon tasting, it was not salted caramel so I sent it back. I could hear the chef laughing to the waitress and saying :oh, it says something different on the menu. When the waitress returned she said that no salted caramel ice cream is available. I asked why I was notified of this. The waitress clearly thought she was above apologising and just looked at me before walking off. There were other, significantly older people in there (only 2 other tables were occupied) and the staff seemed much more attentive to them than to us. We had to ask for a drinks menu. Then at the end, they put an item we didn’t order on the bill. They promptly took it off, but again no apology. All these things actually made the whole experience very stressful. The only way I can make sense of this is to presume the regular staff must have been on an away day. In addition, my friend called the hotel 2 days later to ask about the spa and the woman was quite abrupt and surly. Bristol Harbour Hotel, this is very shoddy treatment of people spending good money. I will not be returning.

Despite arriving a little late, we received a warm welcome. Shown to our seats and given menus by Fabio. He proved to be attentive without obtrusive and clearly enjoyed his job. The pre-theatre menu was small but all were catered for, although running out of one of the three desserts was disappointing. A few little mistakes, but didn’t deflect from a wonderful early evening dinner. Fabio was great.
