Just moved into the area and ordered here for the first time on delliveroo. Called in and spoke to Rachael eho delivered brilliant customer service even called me back witch I know is hard in the fast food word so 5 stars there and the food arrived quick and warm and the portion size is amazing I’d say hands down the best fish and chips in Bristol I have ever personally had

The best fish and chips I’ve had in a long long time. Perfectly fried cod and very good chips (went for the curry sauce too which again was just how it should be). Friendly team and super clean. I would highly recommend.

Overall the food was ok for a first order. Good sized fish. The chips were over cooked and too crunchy.

They delivered food to me that had been left on their counter for over an hour. Soggy cold fish. £29 and this is what you get. I rang them but they will not cancel the order, admitted it was sitting there for almost an hour. Disgusting. Never ordering from these guys again

The food was never delivered. It has not materialised. There was no attempt to deliver it. I have been in all evening from before the time the order was placed, and the delivery never happened. This is the most terrible experiences I have had of food delivery, and the first time I have tried the JustEat service. I will never use this again.

Nice area, shame about the chip shop.... if you like undercooked greasy food then this place might appeal to you.... Reviews giving this place 4 &5 star reviews are clearly students who can't cook.

Beautifully cooked food. The fish was moist and full of flavour and the batter light and delicious.

One item missing, fish was good, not the best but not the worst either. Chips however were quite a let down.

This place deserves better ratings because their fish is just perfect! Not greasy. Fluffy and flakey inside with just the crispiest batter. I ate too quick to get a picture!

Freshly made food!!!! We ate a typical Fish and Chips for £8.80, a generous amount and the fish and sauce were very tasty. We will repeat. Clean place and very good service.

Fish was okay but the chips were awful. Tasted like cardboard. I asked for salt and vinegar but got barely any. Would not recommend and won't be returning

It’s unfortunate that I will say I have been less than impressed by the fish and chip game Bristol has had to offer in my two years living here. But who would have thought that my local chippy round-the-corner would provide the most delectable spuds in the city? Bristol- it’s time you upped your fish & chip game as Chandos Fish Bar is the best we’ve had. Walking in, the atmosphere was unlike any other chippy I have visited in Bristol. The blue tiles providing a welcoming escape from the usual greasy metallic structure one is used to approaching at a local chippy. We ordered the usual, two cod and chips, mushy peas and curry sauce. The cod was beautifully battered; crispy- not soggy, and laid ever so eloquently over an incredibly generous portion of chips. The sides also managed to hit the exact spot. I can only wish I’d not been so eager to tuck in and had taken photos of the masterpiece of a Cod & Chips served by Chandos Fish Bar last night.

Mine was a take out order, the most egregious problem was the curry sauce was missing. The prices here are pretty high and the salt and vinegar was way below adequate. The wait time for sausage and chips was almost 20 minutes (it wasn't busy). I just didn't have a good experience. The quality of the food was adequate, however. Overall I'd look elsewhere.

Really enjoyed the fish and chips from Chandos Fish Bar. The portions were very good, reasonably priced for takeaway, fish was succulent and juicy, good clean oil, fresh chips and the chef/server was lovely. Will have to make this a regular lunchtime treat! Placed the order on the phone and was ready in 15 minutes fresh and lovely. Thank you.

Passed some chaps whose meal looked lovely. After directing me to this ‘plaice’, I opted to try it out with simple chips and curry sauce. Sorry to say it was soggy and bland (Needs salt when steaming/boiling before frying). Lumpy curry sauce. Also he tried to overcharge me. He did correct my change after I called him out on it. Maybe it’s better if your not the one of the last customers before they close for lunch, maybe it was a one off! Based on reviews, I Will be back to try the fish and hopefully they redeem themselves on the chips!

Fantastic fish and chips. We tend to go weekly and the food is consistently very good. Really well presented shop, always very clean inside and friendly staff too. Hard to beat!

Cracking fish & chips, but my word it would have been quicker to drive up to Grimsby, cast out my rod, then sail round to Ireland, harvest some potatoes and finally fly all the catch back to Bristol for my wife to put in the oven. Overheard one poor dear had waited 50 mins for a bag of chips 😭 the order system is a complete myth - "1 cod and chips"... surprise surprise 12 hangry vultures all surge at once to the window. Anyway, I'll probably be back next week!

Ordered from Deliveroo from Chandos Fish Bar for first time today, it was delicious, the cod had a light crispy batter, chips lovely, veggie burger very good. Would recommend!!

We had a take away from here, the fish was a good size, with very light, crisp batter. The chips were a little bit on the pale side I prefer mine a little more cooked and golden brown, otherwise it would have been 5 stars from me.

Fish was freshly battered and fried, but didn't taste good at all. Chips were some of the worst I've had, barely cooked through. The service was horrible, one of the workers gave me a thousand yard stare from the back. They charge £1.20 for tartare sauce, and for dinner the fish and the chips have to be bought separately. £2.30 for chips doesn't get you many, although this worked out as the chips were horrible. Never going back there again, in fact, never having fish and chips again.

This is a fish and chip shop and guess what-the fish and chips are great. Nobody has reviewed this place for a long time so here is mine. The fish we had, cod and haddock, was beautifully cooked with crisp light batter and plenty of light fluffy flesh. Chips could have been a bit hotter and for us, a little thinner but to have this place on our doorstep is brilliant. It deserves to be busy and the guys who cook and serve are efficient and polite

El gerente de este bar local insiste en que las patatas fritas son sin gluten y que tiene muchos clientes "como yo". Bueno pues a mí ya no me tiene por clienta, eso seguro. He ido dos veces, la primera ya fui bastante suspicious pero la segunda no me deja lugar a dudas. Si no eres celiaco.. las porciones tienen buen tamaño, el pescado me han dicho que está bueno y el precio es bastante razonable.

The spur of the moment decision for fish and chips was well worth it here. Simply lovely fish and chips, well cooked and not overly greasy with great home made tartare sauce and mushy peas. Portions are reassuring large and the staff are very friendly. Definitely give them a try.

A great fish and chip shop. One of the best. Do have some of the homemade tartar sauce too. And you can always pop across the road for a bag of salad while you wait for your fish to be cooked. Lovely yubbly.....

They cook things to order, which makes the food fresh. The chips let it down ever so slightly but still good fish and chips overall.

Been going to this chippy for about a year, on average I'd say more hit than miss. Not as good as you'd get from a good costal place, but still good enough to make me not go further a field, reasonably cooked fish, but I normally prefer a little bit under, chips usually fairly good but I'd change potatoes, and adjust to triple cooked (par boiled and initial fry, then final fry when customers make the order to get both soft and crispy) I suspect it's more of a twice cooked system, which . is fine, but I've had triple cooked from a couple of the best chip shops in the country and you can really taste the difference. Also beef dripping would be great but these days a unfortunate rarity, and you'd lose customers.

Really tasty cod, good chips. Small cod, chips and mushy peas for one, under a tenner is adequate for two if you are not big eaters and a pint at Chums while you wait. Great value.

I used to live near here and always got my fish and chips from this shop ... stopped here the other day and it was just as good as i remember.... worth a visit
