Jane's Asian Seafood in Bristol, City of

I forgot how great this place is, great food and terrific service. I’ll return soon. Highly recommended.

We started with the oysters (£25 for six), which were noticeably small compared to others we’ve had in Bristol. The watermelon garnish was a nice touch though and elevated it. The seafood platter (£55) was the real letdown. For that price, we expected premium, fresh seafood, but the selection felt like standard, mid-range supermarket fare: tiny prawns, minuscule scallops, basic calamari rings, and whitebait. Nothing stood out as fresh or high-end, especially compared to other restaurants in Clifton and in the centre where we’ve had far better quality for the same price range or less. The varnish was also deteriorating off the tables leaving them permanently sticky. We went elsewhere to find better drinks and were told by staff that Palomar is owned by the Blue Lagoon bar opposite it. Just thought that was interesting. Given the glowing reviews and the website, we felt like the restaurant was portraying itself to be higher end than it actually is and we were surprised by how average everything was. At these prices, we expected more. If it was a bit cheaper we wouldn't have had those expectations. As pescatariens we eat a lot of seafood and just remembered every other time we have gotten these same items elsewhere and it being cheaper and better. We left feeling underwhelmed and wishing we'd have booked a different seafood restaurant instead.

Este es un lugar muy extraño, dirigido por algunas personas muy, muy extrañas. A pesar de la reserva, la bienvenida inicial fue "off". Teníamos una mesa arriba y nos sentimos olvidados. Fishers no recibe realmente atención al cliente. Finalmente logramos hacer un pedido de bebidas y luego esperamos, y esperamos. Finalmente 20 minutos después llegaron dos bebidas. Otras tres mesas se quejaban de artículos perdidos, facturas equivocadas, mal servicio, etc. Todo el lugar parece una broma triste. La calidad de la cocina de pescado que se muestra era muy promedio, por lo que incluso el corazón de lo que Fishers trata de él no es muy bueno en. Todo el lugar está sucio, el botín asqueroso y al personal le importa un carajo. Es muy caro por lo que es. Good sized portions and does well heating and eating the following day. Make sure you check the deals when go in before ordering as can turn out expensive
