Dissatisfied, poor valve for money £12.50 for what was barely enough food to feed a child and slow service, just eat orders were constantly prioritised over waiting customers in the shop.. I won’t be a returning customer Thankfully 😅

Great fish and chips. Always freshly cooked, and not just cod, they try and provide a choice. Staff are quick and polite.

On Friday 7th of April, my mom and myself were walking back from her work place and thought to get lunch from Farrow’s as they were open for lunch, my mom ordered a Large bag of chips, Medium fish and two plain sausages, my mom was charged £18.00 on which at first my mom did not clock until we got home, the price should of been way less, so not happy and also was not given a receipt so how do you prove it. Also I find with a small bag of chips, well not much there as in one scoop but want a high price, who do you think you are Apple, pay more for less. Also sometimes the chips are not nice, it’s a shame that once we’re nice to any old how.

Farrows fish and chips are IMHO one of the best if not the best fish and chip shop in Bristol. The food is absolutely delicious with crispy but not greasy golden brown batter and chips cooked to perfection. The portion sizes are amazing. This is definitely a regular family favourite. Shame they don’t do a loyalty scheme 😋🤤

Got a fish & chip takeaway on a Friday evening, fish was good, freshly cooked and batter wasn’t greasy. Unfortunately the chips were really crunchy and hard, it seemed like they were reheated or recooked, Threw most away. Shame as heard good things but better places than this

I actually had this delivered through Just Eat. I ordered the large cod which was absolutely delicious, and had lovely golden and light batter. I would have liked just a few chips; I can only eat a small handful, so I wish chippy's would consider, as a side dish, a really small portion of chips! I didn't want to order any, because I knew they would go in the bin, which is sinful! However; I ordered curry sauce which was of perfect consistency and taste. Would certainly buy from again!

Ordered takeaway Saturday night, delivery no problem, fish no problem, curry sauce no problem, chips ...........disgusting, ended up in the bin, so disappointed, such a shame as we love our fish and chips!!!!

Really good fish and chips including GF version. We phoned ahead to order before collecting so skipped the queue and everything was freshly cooked, and really tasty. Many thanks, finding a really good fish and chip shop that caters for GF is not easy - would definitely recommend!

Just sat down and ate THE BEST fish and chip meal in my 34 years. I had GF sausage in batter, small cod and chips. Really delicious and completely safe for anyone who is coeliac. The sausage in batter was a good quality meat sausage with the crispiest batter. Really have no complaints at all. GO GET YOUR SUPPER FROM HERE!!

Ordered £40 worth of food with just eat and it didn’t arrive. They gave my food to the wrong person. Called the store and they said too bad, and made it my problem.

I ordered, 2 battered sausages only got 1. small cod and chips curry sauce and a pea fritter. fresh chips and a peice of fish were put in thr fryer while was waiting to pay. however that is not what i was served, the one sausge i had to remove the batter to make it some what edible, the batter was so hard i could not even cut it. i think i got the fiash and chips left over from the day before, they were to say the least unedible. the peas fritter and curry sauce were passable. i would not recommend this takeawat at all, it used to be first class when i lived nearby but it has been a long time since i visited. the whole lot ended up in the bin and i had egg on toast instead

Don’t consider coming to Farrows on a Friday night. We queued for almost 2 hours whilst streams of Deliveroo orders were prioritised over the 20+ people queuing down the road. Bit of a joke.

Called the restaurant and I was told there was an issue getting a delivery driver. An hour later waiting and the restaurant is about to close no word. A waste of time, never again!

Had heard good things so paid a visit around 6pm, I purchased medium fish and battered sausage and chips. The fish was freshly cooked and was good, The sausage was good but the chips were terrible. They were hard and crispy like they had been kept in the warmer and reheated, not good at all and I left most of them, definitely won’t be returning.

Possibly my new favourite for fish and chips, and in Bristol it's stiff competition. Gluten free is available. Chips were amazing. Fish was generous in portion size and beautifully cooked.

I looked up Farrow's and saw it was highly rated, so decided to give it a go. Medium cod and chips for £6.25. The staff were friendly, fast and cooked the food to order. The fish was perfect it soft and flaky and the chips were great too. A nice sized portion that didn't leave me with that greasy, overfilled feeling. I was also pleased that I could pay with contactless.Would definitely recommend and go again.

Excellent food. Lovely chips, battered sausage. My side of beans was hot and very tasty. Shop on a main road, so parking not great, better off parking a bit farther away and walking to the shop. The staff are very friendly.

Went here yesterday. Usually have a large cod and chips. Cod seemed small compared to past and there were enough chips to feed Russia. All tasted fine “but” I was extremely ill. I’d ate nothing prior to this. I could’ve decorated the lounge it was that bad. I suspect it was the fish .My partners was gluten free but had no issues.

La entrega no suele ser una opción, pero Farrows hizo todo lo posible para acomodarnos debido al pedido de 72 porciones de comida. El servicio que recibimos fue excelente. I’ve been gluten free for about 4 years now and I’ve tried a few different places for gluten free fish and chips. This place is easily the best. Perfectly crispy batter (even after 15 mins in the car home!), flaky, meaty fish, amazing battered sausage, yummy chips. Absolutely perfect. And reasonably priced as well. Can’t find a single fault! Keep it up guys! I’ll be back soon.

Guys in the shop are really, really nice. The chips are amazing and the portions are well worth the money and the battered sausages are amazing even after the 20 minute drive home as the food was all fresh.

Amazing! How can mushy peas be so tasty, scampi so crispy, chips so perfect! Farrows is the real deal and the service is second to none, I highly recommend it as the best take away I have ever visited.

Tomé pescado y patatas fritas durante las vacaciones bancarias como un regalo y fue excelente. El pescado estaba bien preparado con pasta ligera, las patatas fritas eran excelentes e incluso conseguimos un buñuelo de guisantes que estaba bien.

Very good chips and love that they offer a gluten free batter here. Sadly won’t be returning however until they stop serving in polystyrene trays and think about finding something better for the environment.

Amazing fish and chips! I didn't ask if the whole shop is gluten free but the batter was great and fish beautifully cooked. The manager was friendly but probably a bit too much and possibly a bit old now to be so flirty with female customers and should concentrate on the fish! Bless him though for trying. Popped in on the way home for some fresh fish and chips for the family. Had to wait as it was cooked to order. The kids meals are good value and get loads for your money. They even due gluten free!

One of the advantages of living at Kenway Towers is that it is all but a stone's throw away from this finest of chippies. Being a generous sort of chap, I've given the staff the night off for Maundy Thursday so it's off down the hill to Farrows. As usual there is a bit of a queue (always a good sign) but my order was taken quickly and my large cod duly cooked to order. The cod was moist and succulent in a crispy batter along with a generous portion of chips that were free from what I refer to as toenail clippings. These generally occur when the chips are left hanging around for too long. The continual flow of customers in the shop guarantees that the chips are always as freshly cooked as the cooked to order fish. I heartily recommend this shop to everybody.

Being a coeliac take-away fish and chips is one luxury I have had to do without - that is until I discovered Farrows and OMG they were delish !!! Could not tell they were GF, and I had to say the whole lot was gone in minutes and I licked the paper !!! lol.They are extremely clued up on what gluten free means and prepare/cook their GF dishes in a completely separate area from the other dishes, they have separate utensils and a separate food warmer so all-in-all a fantastic place for coeliacs and other sufferers.Apart from the fish and chips they also do GF fishcakes, battered sausages and curry sauce and dont overcharge for the GF dishes either so will def be visiting again sometime very soon.... actually where's my purse and car keys ?????? Ooh and the rest of my family had the non-GF fish and chips and loved every mouthful of theirs too !!!

I have been here quite a few times now when I visit Bristol as I really have missed fish and chips since having to go gluten free. The fish and pea fritters are really lovely, freshly cooked, crispy, light and prepared with great care with regards to cross contamination etc. Great service too, lovely people.

We have known Mr. Farrow for more years than I care to remember and I can honestly say he has maintained the quality of the food he serves throughout all of that time. Food is always fresh. Really enjoyed our meal. Really good gluten free choices, interesting to note while we were waiting for our food around 40% of all the orders were for gluten free meals. One note of caution - Mr. Farrow does not keep exceptionally long hours so check his website if you haven't visited before. It's very easy to say this, but probably true, this has to be one of Bristol's best fish and chip shops!

This place has traditional service and caters for modern eaters! My husband is Gluten Free and we heard about this place so tried it out. Gluten free or not I wouldn't go anywhere else now! There is always a que, frustrating but a good sign, and as it's worth the wait, who cares?!We will definitely be back again soon.

You know that you have found a popular eatery when the local people are queuing outside at past eight p.m with no sign of anyone not prepared to wait! On an overnight stay to watch The Tour of Britain cycle race, I decided to follow my nose and the aroma of fish & chips on the breeze led me here. Well worth the wait too. All items individually cooked and wrapped as the 'gluten free' alternative rules were strictly adhered to. I will return.....!

It's hard to find a good traditional fish and chip shop these days but luckily for me this one's around the corner I had fish and chips and both were cooked well and very tasty. Staff were very pleasant and on the ball for a very busy place. You know a good place by the amount of people waiting for food. Well done I'll be a regular visitor.

They have Gluten free options all the time and they clearly understand gf requirements - separate utensils and special vinegar for example. Gf batter was light and crispy, almost like tempura. Normal batter was very good too. Chips were the standard fare. Very reasonable prices.

I made a special trip to get some F&C's and I wasn't disappointed. Being Gluten Free can be tough at times but I'd been craving chips for a while. One wet Sunday afternoon I took the trip to Farrows to see what they had to offer as I'd seen good things online. When I got there I was welcomed by the wonderful staff and when I asked about the Gluten free options they went through everything in detail and had a good knowledge and understanding of what it means, this gave me great confidence. I ordered my food, had a nice chat with them and left a happy man. The chips were amazing and the portion size was good, I had battered GF sausages too and the batter was crisp and full of flavour. The price was very reasonable too, 2 meals for under £10!! I will definitely be going back and having some more. One of the best things is they do the Gluten free options all day everyday, which is brilliant! Thanks to all the team at Farrows!!!!

Desperate for a gluten free fish and chip fix as my local in Worcestershire only does GF once a month. As we were in Bristol did a search and discovered that GF is available here all the time. Seperate friers for gluten free products and care taken in handling them once cooked to avoid cross contamination. Lovely batter on the Haddock. Very enjoyable. If you're Coeliac, like me, make sure you double check any condiments you buy as we bought a small bottle of tomato ketchup and discovered that it contained Barley in the malt vinegar. Other than that, everything else excellent. Definitely recommended.

Back in UK for a Holiday arrived 13 April 2016. Had super Fish from Farrows next day 14th April 2016. So can not understand "Kath L' 14 April review. There was 4 of us all having Fish (3 Cod 1 Haddock ) and only 2 having chips. Enough chips for 3-4 persons. My Wife and I do not eat chips. Once again the fish was excellent, gads how I miss this in Thailand. We had fish at least 3 more times from Farrows and each time great.I even was able to compare with Trenchers in Whitby, This is very good also and really large portions but also more expensive.Thank you Farrows for keeping up your high standard, plus friendly staff.

My favorite fried dish has always been fish and chips. At Farrow's, you can find a gluten free option. The place doesn't look too special and you cannot sit there to eat. However, the cod was so good...The medium one was enough : quantity and quality.

The customer service from the young lady was the best I have seen. No grunts and mumbles here; just friendly banter. Natural coloured mushy peas too were noted and for the first time in my life, I saw that they actually remove any chips that are green or have bits of skin still left on them; the brown bits. The master fryer is more than happy to show passion for his work when asked about his food and the place was clean with a 5 star food hygiene rating. We live in Worthing and there are no good chip shops here nor next door in Brighton. I would travel to Bristol to just have this food again. Thank you for making us two lads very happy! Sit in the community garden next door to eat them!

Been visiting Farrows since they opened. It was beautiful fish & chips at the start but sad to say lately its gone downhill. Popped in this evening, served quickly,nice and chatty. Got home only to be disappointed, chips looked like they were scraps,hard burnt and just awful. We couldn't even get a chip butty out of them. Latley we've come away feeling let down by the standard of food. Will look for another local chippy as this has def got worse.

I have been to a few difference places in Bristol but always come back to Farrows. Good variety on the menu, big portions and friendly staff. Their chips are the perfect "chipshop chips" and the fish is always great. Having recently moved house, I now drive past 2 closer chippies just to come here.

A really good fish and chip shop. A small cod and chips is just £4.60 and plenty for a light meal. The standard size will fill you up, for sure.Like the fact they are doing their bit for sustainability and also use gluten-free batter. It's a friendly place and service is efficient. Farrows is a really nice fish and chip shop on the wells road! As a veggie, I always go for the veggie burger, which is very tasty! The chips are deeeeelicious and the staff are friendly. Potentially my favourite chip shop in Bristol!!

This is definitely my favourite chip shop in Bristol, it's cheap as chips, quick service and delicious. Been here many times and never been disappointed, I've eaten chips from all over the world and this place is in my top 5, so to have it on my doorstep is amazing. It does get very busy on Fri/Sat eve and it's all cooked freshly but worth lining up for. Keep on cooking to the same standards.

Despite only living a few miles from Farrows I've only heard about this place last few weeks. What a find, perfectly cooked fish and tons of delicious chips and nice curry sauce, will never eat from another chip shop. Friendly staff too. Highly recommended

This place is a hidden gem! On my first visit the owner really took the time to explain his commitment to offering a good gluten free menu for people following that diet. He really has gone the extra mile and I was very impressed to see that gluten free curry sauce was also available! Thank you Farrows I'll definitely be back.

Die Pommes waren maschtig, haben irgendwie einen komischen Beigeschmack gehabt. Wir haben sie komplett weg geschmissen. Der Fisch war einiger maßen o.k. , allerdings richtig klein (obwohl wir den mittleren bestellt hatten). Wir gehen nicht wieder hin.... Keine Sitzplätze!! Wirklich zu empfehlen ist das Fishers Restaurant in Bristol!!

First of all: this is a TAKE AWAY. We walked there for 30 min to find out that we could not sit there. The initial disappointment disappeared once we got our fish and chips. The portions were generous and the fish looked and tasted very fresh. The staff was very kind. I would strongly recommend it!PS: There is a nice bench 20 m. far from the take away where you can enjoy the food in case you make our same mistake :)

This place seems too popular for its own good. Arriving around 7.30pm on a Saturday there was a queue out of the door, which moved very slowly indeed as there were only two staff on duty and the counter area is very cramped. Meals seemed to be made to order, which was fine, but with one person in the queue buying 12 portions, a number of others wanting gluten-free (I can't believe they all have celiac disease - if so, no problem, but it rather seems to be the trendy thing to ask for), it was just over half an hour of waiting before I walked out with my two meals. Because it was all made to order, it was impossible to work out what size fish and what portion of chips to ask for: small, medium or large: as they vary so much in such places. In the end I guessed wrongly and had a huge number of chips with some rather small fish. The meal tasted OK, but I have had better elsewhere.At least they now take card payments, rather than cash only as when I last came a few years ago!

So lately I've been spending my weekends in Totterdown but live in another bit of the city. I thought I'd suss out some local takeaways & found this place.The reviews are justified! Lovely clean place, efficient friendly service & reasonably priced. We had a medium haddock each & shared a large chips (probably could've shared a medium portion of chips!), plus I had a pea fritter & we shared a tub of curry sauce. The fish was meaty & fresh, the (gluten free) batter was crisp & tasty. It was the best pea fritter I've ever tasted. And now I'm also a convert to curry sauce. That all came to just under £13, well worth it if you ask me. I'd definitely recommend it!I'm sure it won't be the last time we visit for a cheeky Saturday night supper...

My partner is a coeliac and has for years been unable to enjoy the delights of chips and other fried foods. Imagine her joy and delight when we discovered Farrows brilliant fish and chips. Also a vegetarian she has less selection than most but was able to go home with 3 gluten free items which gave her a delightful meal. Gluten free chips, very tasty. Gluten free pineapple rings yum! and gluten free curry sauce excellent with the chips!The place place enjoys a 5 star hygiene rating and the staff are polite and helpful. Shop policy dictates that all gluten free items are clearly marked up, this is most helpful as there is no confusion as to what is what. A great boon for the coeliac and for everyone as this shop produces great tasty food, would always recommend them.

Stopped by this busy f&c shop after seeing reviews and heard it was good! Had a large haddock, chips and mushy peas. Cooked to perfection! The Shop is really clean, bright and welcoming. Do give this place you will be suitably impressed!

We visited farrows fish and chip shop as I had heard the food was good, however have now been back numerous times! The fish and chips are absolutely amazing and I would highly recommend them to anyone, they do great kids meals and we have taken advantage of the special offers that they run! The staff are very friendly and this is now my only choice when the family want a fish and chip supper!

The fish and chips offered at Farrow's are in my opinion the best in town. The batter is light and the fish is always moist. Will be back again soon!

I had fish and chips from this restaurant the weekend just gone and I can honestly say that's possibly the best fish and chips I've ever tasted! Highly recommended if you want tasty Fish and chips at a great price with great service!

Stopped by accident - delighted I did! I'm not normally a great one for fish and chips, if the batter isn't done to perfection the soggy bits turn my stomache. Glad to say this was not the case: fish was cooked just right and freshly for me - well worth the few minutes wait, and the chips were more than enough to fill me up. Will go out of my way to call again.

We've been going to Farrows ever since we moved to Totterdown. Their food is normally great - good value, fresh and not at all greasy. A large portion of chips is easily enough for two people.We went there earlier this evening and were disappointed. The "large" chips was no larger than a small portion in other establishments, the chips were greasy and tasted like they'd been hanging around in the fryer for a long time. Would be a one-star review were it not for the food we had there previously.

Travelled across town to get these fish and chips as they were recommended by a friend and I've seen good reviews. It lived up to expectations, I love good old British fish and chips and it really did the job!
