I have been here several times when staying with friends. I was impressed when we were asked this time if anyone had any food allergies. 2 of us had the same burger which was really nice but I was the only 1 that had coleslaw and didn't really like the taste. That evening I was extremely ill. My friend had to get advice and medication from her local pharmacist. I had to see an emergency Gp as my symptoms had not improved after 3 days

Crown Street, EnglandVisited pub as it was dog friendly and had good reviews. We were met with a very friendly owner at the bar. We enjoyed 3 courses and drinks in lovely atmosphere. New menu we were advised had just gone live. Shared a pigs in blanket starter which was lovely. Both had BBQ blade of beef main with chips & salad (see pic) and finishing with a shared choc brownie.

The Whipper-In Hotel, EnglandA lunch outing with family who don’t live in Oakham on Dec 31st was such a disappointment. We arrived on time for our 1:30pm booking, were seated right away, had our orders taken and then we waited 1 hour for our starters to arrive. When we asked why it was taking so long we were told there was only 1 chef in the kitchen. But that wasn’t the only problem. A few of us ordered the vegetable soup as our starter. It was presented in a nice little soup tureen but clearly the kitchen had run out of soup because what we were given resembled pasta sauce or salsa. It was a dish of chopped tomatoes, onion, celery and the odd bit of carrot with absolutely no liquid or flavour. The most complimentary thing I can say bout the main courses was that they were served piping hot. There was a choice of 4 mains and I had what was described as ‘white beef’ (really?!!) with horseradish mash (without any horseradish flavour), root veg and bourguignon sauce. The stew that I received was mostly mushroom, onion and sauce with very little beef and the beef was in tiny pieces, not chunks of beef. My meal was definitely not worth the £27.50 I paid for the 2 courses. Needless to say we didn’t stay for dessert. Would I recommend this restaurant? No. It was a special. Christmas menu with only 4 choices of starter, main and dessert. If a chef can’t manage this limited menu what happens when it’s an a la carte menu ?

Castlethorpe Road, EnglandAbsolutely love this place . First visit ever .. had two dogs with me .. and felt at ease the staff are very friendly and extremely helpful.. which I haven't seen in ages .. would certainly recommend a visit .. food lovely too

Building 9, EnglandA popular spot for drinks near Liverpool Street with pleasant surroundings, especially the decking area in good weather. However, our experience was underwhelming. I ordered the Bee Positive cocktail, which was neither refined nor balanced and arrived rushed after a long wait. The presentation was poor, indicating a lack of care. In contrast, the Pornstar Martini Royale was outstanding. Service was disjointed. If you stand at the bar, you might get served quickly, but table orders can be painfully slow. One waitress, in particular, was notably rude, standing silently looking at us until we moved without any courtesy. The team seemed unmotivated overall. While the location is convenient and attracts a nice crowd, I won't be returning. There are better options nearby.
