Wonderful visit again. Here for our annual visit and still as consistent as ever. This time we visited twice, midweek and for the sunday feast - and what a feast it was! From the moment you enter Sophie makes you feel right at home and explains the menu perfectly. Small and sharing plates means you can have a taste of everything. The music playlist is that good we asked for it. A must visit for us each time we are here and will be back next time. Thank you for a great experience. How hospitality should be. 10/10. Nipped in for a drink on Sunday evening on our walk home. We had a cocktail each. We had a choice where to sit on some comfy sofas. We ordered and paid at the bar and drinks were brought over to the table. Nice decor and fits with the theme. Good atmosphere. My cocktail was good (creamy one) , my husband was not as impressed with his.

We’ve been coming to the Gurnards for many years and the food had always been very good. Firstly I want to say that the staff were friendly, efficient and helpful, and I have no criticism of them at all. The place was warm and cosy as usual. However we were really disappointed with the a la carte menu today. The ‘main’ portion of fish was tiny (I don’t have a big appetite at all) for £26.50, with some underdone boiled potatoes. We had to order vegetables as an extra side. It was such a shame as we usually love the Gurnards and wish we had gone to the Old Coastguard instead, which is truly excellent and maintained its standards. I’m hoping the Gurnards returns to form for us locals!

We arrived today, three of us for lunch just after 12pm. The place was busy and we were informed by the lovely owner that she was a chef down so that the wait might be a little longer. No worries - we ordered 3 prawn sarnies with chips and it was super. Great value for money and the owner was working the room and doing an incredible job- even with a chef down she was smiley and nothing was an issue. It was a pleasure to watch a cafe being run so well… we will return.

We can recommend going to Knightor for many reasons but especially the wine tasting we along with two friends had an amazing time and learnt a lot about wines and the wine making process, The wine of course is excellent but the day was made even better by our host Wayne whose knowledge of wine is excellent but more than that he has a fantastic way of explaining things, he is funny and genuinely a nice chap. If you haven’t tried Knightor for wine tasting then booking a slot is a must and ask for Wayne

The location is superb and the serving staff were courteous if a little inexperienced. However I was very disappointed with my lunch which had as part of the starter watercress. This was served up to me with yellowing leaves. I fedback my observation but there was no apology Main dish of smashed peas, gnocci(which was over cooked and hard) and feta was mediocre. Keep yourexpectations low....

Great welcome and some amazing fish overlooking the harbour. Some delectable wines and amazing Cornish Gin. The grilled scallops simply the best and the Newlyn Crab quite perfect. Do not forget the desserts-the Fig Tart with Rum Raisins tasted out of this world just beaten into second place by the Pavlova. The staff really cared and with a small number of covers allowed for really effective delivery of fresh and well cooked food delivered to the table with perfect timing. Argoe deserves to star in Penryn.

Beautiful setting overlooking lush gardens. Excellent, attentive service. Bread basket provided which was a nice touch. Had the Cornish lamb with lynonnaise potatoes which was very tasty and perfectly cooked vegetables. Wine list, bar drinks and good Prosecco served in small bottles.

Good caesar salad and cinnamon bun. Very good tasting coffee and tea. A few seats available. Very small shop..

Despite using their own email contact form to book I had no reply. On checking the actual premises it would appear this establishment is closed despite their web site saying the opposite. There is a 'lease for sale' notice in the window . Sadly the demise of a good Newquay restaurant

For years I have come to Perranporth with my family and every single time I have avoided biting food from the Watering Hole, for some weird reason presuming it wouldn’t be very good. Well, how wrong was I! Amazing fish and chips, could actually be the best I’ve ever had. If, like me, you’re a bit of a snob about food, don’t judge a book by its cover. What do I mean by that? Well, because it’s always so busy in the summer I had presumed the food couldn’t be great - I was imagining Weatherspoons ping and ding. Lesson learnt. The food was just brilliant. Homemade tartar sauce. Light and crispy batter on the fish, hot fresh, no soggy bottom! Chips also fresh and a generous portion too. I also had a chocolate which was also quality. Perfect after a long dog walk. Staff were friendly and helpful. Sure the floor is a bit sandy, it’s on the beach and welcomes dogs, which for us was another winning feature. So, what have I learnt today? When we go to Perranporth, lunch at the Watering Hole is a must.

We tend to not eat in hotel restaurants but having eaten in the sister hotel The Alverton, which was excellent and also seen an article in Drift Magazine from the chef we thought we would give it a go. it was very ok. £6 for two slices of bread, Starter of scallops did not mention the belly pork was battered, not sure why. Mains of cod and curry sauce £32 felt like veg was dropped into curry sauce at end and not really infused. Fillet Steak £34 was very small and asked for medium rare was more medium. White wine list by the glass was limited with only one French option. When we were due to leave I approached a lady staff member in brown uniform to ask about them calling us a taxi, 'we can give you some numbers to call yourself she said' !! Only saving grace was they did not add service charge, we would have had it removed and as a local then we will not return.
