Fabulous fish - I had crab, scallops and sardines. Perfect for one! With some bread, of course. Started with a Cornish Pastis - that's right, aperitif, not meat and turnips in pastry. Very friendly service and a gorgeous view over the harbour as dusk fell. Cannot recommend strongly enough!!

Have Been waiting to eat here for a long time and I was not disappointed, such a calm and relaxed atmosphere. The staff were so welcoming and extremely helpful with my slightly awkward palette. We had 5 dishes between 3 of us and they were all equally delicious. A lovely selection of wines we didn't have a desert, but they looked very enticing. Next time I will save some room for one. I can't wait to visit again. Thank you 🙏🏻

Love this place - amazing fresh fish (especially the whole grilled fish), wonderful veg sides and lovely service. The last time we went highlights included a whole grilled grey mullet, some green beans with scallop butter, deep fried squid and an incredible dessert of milk ice cream, raspberry jam and olive oil.

Disappointing service. Perhaps foolish to say we were only there for a light meal and drinks as we we're offered seats by front terrace only. We ordered starters and got no forks or napkins but the most peculiar part was the pressuring to add tips to the service which I did as I couldn't figure out how to work the pay terminal.

We have just enjoyed a fabulous lunch at Argoe! Every taste was interesting, every plate was perfectly cooked and just hit the spot. The staff are efficient and friendly; they've created a relaxed atmosphere most conducive to an enjoyable hour or so. The outlook across the harbour will draw the eye regardless of time of day or weather. I cannot recommend it highly enough!

What an absolutely amazing restaurant. Fabulous array of small plates on offer. Something for everyone. I have to say, Lobster dish was the best I have ever tasted. It was a unique dish and absolutely stunning. The Lemon Sole was delicious too as were all the other side dishes. Just wonderful! The restaurant was packed all evening which clearly reflects its huge popularity.

Excellent restaurant on the harbour front serving superb fresh fish. It may look slightly expensive but the amount of fish on your plate was more than enough for two people. Would thoroughly recommend a visit. The staff were so helpful and the chef is a star.

This is a favourite special occasion venue. Lovely atmosphere in a great location right by the water. The food is amazing and we love the focus on local ingredients, freshly caught fish and some great wine pairings. Book in advance as tables are limited but when we have Argoe in our calendar, we look forward to it with excitement. Save space for the dessert. Baked cheesecake with boozy currants was delicious this past weekend.

This restaurant serves delicious food. We felt welcomed and found the team to be attentive. There were some things in the menu that we weren’t familiar with or wanted more information about and our queries were responded to in a positive way. We ordered maybe a bit too much and there was one dish that wasn’t our cup of tea - but overall - we enjoyed the food and the vibe.

A massive disappointment in where should be fantastic given the location and access to fish! They seemed to be under staffed by 1 member too, plates weren’t cleared and waited for staff to See if all was ok. We had heard good things and if you believe the reviews on here you’d expect great things. The best dish we had was the muscles , but it’s difficult to get them wrong. We ordered fish soup, but got a bisque , which is not the same. I for one can’t tolerate a bisque as the taste leads to chronic indigestion as the cooking of shells disagrees with me . A fish soup should have some pieces of fish still in it as opposed to blended right down. We then had the monkfish marmitako that had 4 lumps of potato in and 3 tiny bits of monkfish & 1 piece of monkfish tail bone ( with no fish on ) This was followed by the muscles, which were very good , best part of the meal. We then had the plaice with tomatillo & chilli. The sauce was so thickly spread that it was horrible and you couldn’t taste the fish. The sauce equally didn’t taste very nice. I couldn’t taste any chilli at all and even wondered if they’d put the right sauce with it ! This dish was accompanied by the recommended potatoes & dried scallop & chilli sauce dish, which ultimately was just some more cooked potatoes that lacked real flavour. I had a glass of red wine, unfortunately not very good as it comes from ‘the tap’ . I had expected a place like this could at least do glasses of wine from a bottle. The overall price was ok, if the food had been good. The service wasn’t great, we think they were missing a member of staff, we really hate sitting with finished plates in front of us for ages. Maybe we just went on a bad night! But personally I wouldn’t believe the hype that this place has . The fish should have been plentiful and spectacular given the location but it was skimped on and lacked greatness. We won’t be going again

Fantastic food and service in a beautiful location on the waters edge. The menu is designed for sharing with generous portions. We had mussels and hake to start, followed by the most delicious Cornish Sole, hispi cabbage cooked in lobster butter and herby potatoes - the best meal we had all week! Puddings were also really special. We were a bit concerned that this place was going to be a bit pretentious and over-priced but it was really relaxed with wonderful service, and whilst not the cheapest meal it was 100% worth it!

An eagerly anticipated visit to Argoe, thanks to a 70th birthday gift from the family back in June. It was well worth the wait and the whole dining experience was exceptional. Our servers were attentive & knowledgeable, and the dining style was thoroughly enjoyable, with sharing plates brought to our counter seats at well-timed intervals. The food was excellent, beautifully cooked, well seasoned and delicious throughout. We're local but the view was just beautiful and we'd never seen the harbour from this viewpoint before.

An absolutely gorgeous situation overlooking Newlyn Harbour (literally on the edge of the water). Smashing staff who explain everything - it's kind of tapas style dining and they explain the size of a dish when you order. We had deep fried kale (gorgeous), a deep-fried sole, fish soup and some fish tortillas, all were delightful and freshly cooked. We were very impressed that their carafe wines are the same price whether bought by the glass or by the carafe. We'd definitely visit again for the food, the service and the view.

Some of the best food we have eaten in years! Had heard good things so had high expectations and was not disappointed. The location of the restaurant is beautiful. We sat outside with the dog on a sunny September evening looking out over the harbour and I felt like we were abroad. The food is incredible, all freshly prepared, with a new menu each day. I love the style of eating with small plates to share, kind of a tapas-y feel. Every single dish we had was so full of flavour, even a tomato focaccia we ordered expecting it to be pretty simple was one of the tastiest things I’ve eaten! The staff are attentive and have a good knowledge of the menu. Will be recommending this place to everyone!

We booked a table outside as that was the only one available. The actual inside is very small. Not very protected if it rains so we ate our food in our wet weather gear. A small suggestion perhaps put up some form of rolling screen for protecting the tables outside if the weather is bad. Saying that the food was great. Quite expensive but delicious. The staff were all simply lovely as they realised we were pretty exposed to the rain!

This was my second visit and again was really impressed. Eating on the terrace with that fabulous view over the water is really special, and the lighting is perfect for when dusk falls. The service was friendly and attentive. But the best thing is the...

Delightful late lunch at new restaurant Argoe this week which is a real asset to Newlyn’s dining scene. Delicious fresh fish presented quite simply but perfectly. Some small plates some sharing plates which arrive as & when ready which suited us. Quite a few unusual...

We've had lunch here twice now and enjoyed some superbly inventive and interesting fishy food (hake throats anyone?). The service is friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable about the menu and the drinks. Sitting outside looking over Newlyn harbour on a sunny day is a Cornish kinda...

Delighted that we stumbled upon this new restaurant on an evening walk from Penzance. Luckily there was one outside table left and we happily sat outside until the rain! If you book an outside table they do warn you to prepare for the weather.....as the...

Really did not live up to expectations. Just a very poor experience overall. The staff were really quite arrogant and I would even go as far as to say quite rude. There was a very limited menu. Courses are served at random times. I did...

We can recommend going to Knightor for many reasons but especially the wine tasting we along with two friends had an amazing time and learnt a lot about wines and the wine making process, The wine of course is excellent but the day was made even better by our host Wayne whose knowledge of wine is excellent but more than that he has a fantastic way of explaining things, he is funny and genuinely a nice chap. If you haven’t tried Knightor for wine tasting then booking a slot is a must and ask for Wayne

Beautiful setting overlooking lush gardens. Excellent, attentive service. Bread basket provided which was a nice touch. Had the Cornish lamb with lynonnaise potatoes which was very tasty and perfectly cooked vegetables. Wine list, bar drinks and good Prosecco served in small bottles.

Disappointing stay We stayed in Room Eight & we booked a double room. The room was basement level and was tiny with low ceilings, smelled heavily of chemicals and later mold. We had to keep the windows open but unfortunately the one small window opened out onto a busy road. The road was meters away from the window and the cars go fast, so it was really noisy day and time The bath was narrow and not full length and weirdly sticky. Really disappointed with our stay as we'd read such lovely reviews and the pictures (which are of different rooms to ours) looked so nice .

Great food, great choice of music and good cocktails. Particularly a fan of the Moonshine Cocktails, I had Pork Belly Roast and all was cooked to perfection. 5*

This is a lovely cosy restaurant with a great atmosphere and owners who care about what they do. I was celebrating my 60th birthday and had scallops to start followed by half a lobster, my husband had pork bites and hake. The presentation was lovely and food cooked to perfection. The wine choice is very good and very reasonably priced. For pudding we shared a Cornish cheese board and husband had a port whilst I had an espresso martini. The night was really enjoyable and we left very happy. This is a gem of a place in St Merryn and I would urge you to try for yourselves.
