Great concept, with an open kitchen. The food was delicious and it had an extremely unique taste that only this Chef could have created. I was amazed by this restaurant. I would also recommend having the orange wine.

I stopped here for a coffe and after I had a look at the menu I couldn’t resist to try something. I had the oysters and they were amazing, meaty and very fresh. Very good selection of wine as well. I really enjoyed the vibe in the place. I can’t wait to be back for a proper meal next time I’ll be in St Ives!

What a hidden gem, tucked away on a side street off the main run of shops. We ate here twice during our stay in St Ives, once for lunch and again for dinner the following evening. It was lovely to find a restaurant that serves dishes to share, so you get to try a little of everything rather than being tied to choosing one dish to eat. The staff here are friendly, polite and helpful. Service is quick and efficient, food is served freshly prepared/cooked and the the presentation is just beautiful it is clear the belief people eat with their eyes first is followed here. The menu is locally sourced, the ingredients are fresh and everything perfectly cooked. If you are looking for tasty food in a relaxed atmosphere you definitely need to visit Source Kitchen. If you enjoy a cider or two we highly recommend their locally sourced Fowey Valley cider too it is just delicious.

Lovely food served by excellent staff who understand the menu. We had 2 snacks, 2 mains and 2 deserts. Each dish was really delicious, flavours balanced well and every ingredient could be tasted. It really was a treat to eat here and the staff were extremely welcoming and knew their stuff. I don’t think for a moment that the experience we had was overpriced as some other reviews suggest. It was fair and worth every penny.

We came last year and are back again 😊. We sat at the high stools at the bar and drank glasses of their delicious wine and ate gorgeous tasty snack plates of salted almonds, oysters, flat breads, pickles and charcuterie plates. We really like being here as it’s friendly, chilled and so different from the ‘chain’ type places. I especially love reading the review responses 🤣 thank you - we’ll be back!

Nice sharing plate idea, varied menu items, fresh ingredients, friendly service. You are supposed to order 2 starter plates and 3 mains for two people, which is expected; but!!!! Absolutely no rhyme or reason to be found between price point of the dish, price of the ingredients, work put into preparation and the size of the dish. Get a 2 soup spoons worth of salsa for £5, you’ll need to order plain flatbread at £5 or you’ll have nothing to dip with. Looking around at other tables, I found they mainly want you to order the most expensive dishes to get to a more reasonable too small portion, even for a sharing plate concept.

I visited this restaurant with my family and in-laws, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Everything is prepared fresh, so it’s recommended to order multiple dishes to share with others, making the experience even more enjoyable. It’s somewhat similar to tapas, but the quality and portion sizes are much better. Even the bread is amazing! If you come here, don’t expect to save money, but rest assured, it’s money well spent. The restaurant is small, offering a friendly and warm atmosphere. I hope to return soon.

Excellent seafood. The star of the meal was undoubtedly the fresh oysters, served in their purest, natural form. These gems of the sea were incredibly fresh, we ordered three different favours, natural, Thai dressing and shallot vinegar, all were excellent fresh and delicious. Accompanying the oysters was a delightful Cornish dressed crab and lobster, both crab and lobster were both tender and succulent. Overall the meal was a true testament to the quality of the ingredients and the skill of the chefs. Every element on the plate was fresh , well prepared, and perfectly balanced, making for an unforgettable dinning experience.

What a complete gem of a place. My partner and I popped in for lunch last week on a whim and it was an absolute delight from being to end. The service was utterly charming, the food divine and they were kind enough to ply our 5 year old with as much delicious flatbread as his little heart desired! We are massive foodies and eating really exceptional food with a small person in tow can be tricky to do without childcare (such as when on holiday). Our superb lunch more than made up for a lack of traditional evening dining during our recent trip to Cornwall. They are a small team working wonders in a small space and they deserve their praises to be sung; LOUDLY!! A special mention for the Seabass, Hispi Caesar and of course the flatbread. Also, try the pickles plate, soooo delicious and great way to showcase beautiful seasonal vegetables. I work in hospitality myself so appreciate how much work and dedication will gone in to creating this outstanding restaurant. Thanks Team Source Kitchen. We will definitely be back xxx

The Source Kitchen is located in The Digey in the heart of St Ives close to the Tate gallery. It is around half a mile of foot from the station. The restaurant prides itself on its local produce and you are encouraged to have a mixture of different plates to share for both starters and main courses. We had flat bread with truffles, oysters and a pickle plate to start. For main course, we chose sea bass (unfortunately the turbot had sold out), dressed crab and Baked Boy Laity (baked Camembert). For dessert, we had some Brie like cheese from Suffolk. To drink, we had dry Martini, a Cretan white wine called Assyrtiko and some Pedro Ximinez sherry with the cheese. Everything was pretty good, especially the oysters which were excellent and the pickle plate. The cheese was also very good indeed. The Cretan wine was very quaffable with a most pleasant taste. The plates came out as and when they were ready which at times meant there was a slight delay. The concept of plates may not be to everyone’s taste but we found it fine with a varied selection for us both to enjoy. It is expensive with the wine coming in at over £50 and the sea bass at £34 per plate. Service was good and we paid just under £230 for two including 12.5 % charge for service.

I am only 12, but that certainly doesn’t stop me from having a famous Source Kitchen oyster, with a lovely sauce, and chilly flakes sprinkles on top of it. I ate it in one go and absolutely loved it! The Sunday lunch was just as spectacular as the oyster. Amazing, Amazing, AMAZING! I was desperate to write a review for this place. Loved this restaurant however was very disappointed on our last visit. After taking my order I was told my choice was sold out and I made a second choice. Waitress came to say that my second choice was also now off the menu. So I plumped for the terbot which was nice but £42 for turbot and sauce was a bit extreme. I do think the price range shown to £35 should be nearer £50-£60. I was given the tomatoe dish which was not for our table. The potatoes we ordered would also have been nice served early not at the end of the meal. Last time we visited they put the potatoes on the bill but we did not get them! At the end of the evening it was a bit like being thrown out of the pub at 10pm as they opened the doors and rushed everyone’s bill to the table. Good job i checked the bill as there was a bottle of wine at £50 which was for another table. I am not saying don’t visit but go early as I don’t think it was as nice having a late booking. Also check your bill. Really sorry to not have a positive review this time as it was our fav in St Ives.

This small plates idea, used by some restaurants can be very frustrating. Food is OK given the price....but not exceptional, and at £200+ for 3 persons really not in the same ball park as the nearby Porthminster Cafe when it comes to a quality dining experience. The waiter was a lovely chap, attentive but not overly so. Perfect! The foccacia was lovely and warm and the pickles were sharp, crunchy and tangy. The asparagus pea & mint risotto was EXCELLENT, as was the crab, very fresh. The fish was beautiful also, and if we could have had a vat of the chicken butter chive sauce it came with, it still wouldn't have been enough, so good! Highly recommend!

Our first visit to St Ives was delightful, especially our dining experiences. We booked reservations at a couple of restaurants, and almost all of them exceeded our expectations. Source Kitchen stood out as our favourite. Their menu showcased local produce, and every dish we ordered was a delight. The restaurant offers a tapas-style concept where sharing plates is encouraged. We highly recommend trying the mussels in the delicious sauce flavoured with 'nduja and Cornish cream, and don't forget to ask for some bread to dip in the sauce afterward. We had an amazing meal, a feast, when we dined at the Source Kitchen over the October Half Term. The food was absolutely delicious. The Source Kitchen is a great little place, a few paces off the usual tourist path through town. Another of St Ives independently run restaurants it needs to do a good job to stay in business and it looks like it's succeeding! The menu has plenty of interesting offerings, though it is laid out rather strangely with "side" dishes mixed in between what would usually be considered the "mains". (Help is on hand to offer advice but basically you need one main and one side per person.) You need to keep an open mind about what goes with what as the dishes come out of the kitchen tapas style, i.e. as soon as they are ready. That said, all of our four plates were great and (importantly) left space for dessert. Oh - and the wine list is good. Will we go back? Definitely, when we are next in town.

The food we ordered (we chose turbot, then a beef shared platter) was well cooked and well presented. Tasty small platters that we were invited to share. But we felt nothing presented was more special than a good home-cooked meal. So no wow-factor. Though the prices (over £40 for a shared small turbot) seemed more than a tad overpriced for what they were . I queried the prices on the wine list. The cheapest bottle of wine I saw was over £30; most seemed to be in the £60+ bracket. I commented that Langans Brasserie had a cheaper wine list. The chef disagreed with me. I realise, having since looked their wine list, that he was right, Langans do have a pricier wine list. But only just !! Though it has to be said (and I’ve dined at Langans a fair few times) that the food on offer at The Source was not in the same league as that of Langans. The only similarity was the price.

Last August we visited this place very short. We were tourists and plannig to have some lunch here with our 2 children. We brought some croissants for them to the restaurant. As we sat down, we were told that bringing food for our kids was not allowed. Okay, fair enough, I can imagine, respect that. While we took 1,5 minute to think what to do, the kitchenworker ran out of the kitchen and yelled angry at us like we were little children. "This is not allowed, you are making a mess, look at the table!" ( there were a few crumbs)" You wouldn't do this in your own house!" (Our house is always a mess with children, many houses with children are a mess.) "Not in my kitchen!" We were so flabergasted about the rude and vain way he yelled to us. We left, because we felt so disrespectful treated. Our daughter cried because of his angry loud voice. That makes me angry, if you are having a bad day or cannot control your stress, dont get your guests involved. You do not treat people like that, no matter who they are. He wasn't worth our time and money. The kitchenworker claiming himself the owner and chef, I have another opinion about the definition of that. Better hire a host and stay in your kitchen, as he said, my kitchen!!

Dining at source kitchen felt like an experience not just a meal! The quality of the food we ate here was incredible. It felt like ‘fine dining’ with a relaxed seaside vibe to it. We ate mackerel that had been caught in the St Ives bay and lots of local seafood and veggies! The oysters were MASSIVE. Honestly I have never had a more tasty / creamy risotto and we had to ask the owner of the restaurant how they gave it such an amazing flavour it was THAT GOOD. Sharing plate portions were bigger than we expected and were reasonably priced given the fact that all food was clearly fresh and locally sourced. My wife and I ate dinner here after browsing the extensive menu at the door…We had two small glasses of English rose at £12 a glass a bit steep we thought…but we were in holiday mode…we were then given our menu which was totally different to the menu outside! It was then explained to us that we should order at least two or three plates…cajoled more like into ordering two or three sharing plates… we ordered a bread/sauce starter to share..very bland…and two plates fish and shellfish they were definitely not sharing plates…way way too small! So hungry!we ordered another flatbread which came late and undercooked! we were so very disappointed with the whole dining experience Food was just very average certainly not up to Rick Steins seafood restaurant standard..where we ate lunch the day before in Padstow and like for like was very much more expensive To add insult to injury we found out later that the English rose from the same vineyard can be bought at M&S for £12 a bottle! The bill for two came to £101.10 without coffee!!! Felt patronized conned and ripped off …won’t eat here again! Porthmear Beach Cafe down the road is much better!

While the service and ambiance was perfectly acceptable, I ordered the dressed crab. This is not what I was served. Dressed crab is a whole crab cleaned and usually returned to its shell. What I received was a bowl with rather runny brown meat covered by a layer of shredded white meat. No sign of the juicy pieces of claw meat that you would expect. When I complained the chef said that "It is what I call dressed crab". I could call a penguin a fish, it doesn't make it so! He went on to explain that I had a carefull measured portion, no doubt scooped out of bought in containers. The total weight was 5oz a rather small crab's worth I would say. Iwas served crab, but definately not dressed crab. Three stars because of the pleasant service and my wife's risotto was acceptable. One star for mine.

Despite the likelihood of being ripped to shreds by the owners, I have given this restaurant 2 stars. First of all I would say the quality of the food is good but the concept, depending on the mains chosen, was not for us. We were told when we sat down that the restaurant worked on a sharing basis and we would receive the dishes when they were ready. Fabulous we thought, we love sharing food. Our first main out was the fish in tarragon butter, nothing else came so we shared and finished that (what about the potatoes to mop up that lovely tarragon butter?). Then we had a salad of beetroot; again we shared and finished that, followed by the IofW tomatoes; again we shared and finished that; then the lamb arrived which we were hesitant to start but did and then finally the potatoes. (By this time myself and my husband were laughing hysterically). For us the joy of dining out is enjoying the tastes of food combined and not just eating five individual plates in succession, particularly when we don’t consider beetroot, tomatoes or potatoes to be dishes in their own right. During our week in St Ives we ate at several high quality restaurants and whilst the quality here is not in doubt, the experience is not one we will be repeating.

Absolutely everything about this place is fabulous! Amazing food. Excellent service. Great vibe. 100% recommend a visit if you’re around, definitely worth the money! Favourite for us was the Lamb and Pollock.

We had a very delicious brunch here at Source Kitchen. Both the bubble and squeak and folded heaven were very well prepared.

The food was really tasty, and the atmosphere was nice. If you’re into oysters this is the place for you, as these were the best I’ve ever had. The dessert was incredible and the crab was nice, but it had shells in it which no one warned us about. Because we got there late the menu was quite limited (at least half was unavailable) which we were not warned about when we booked over the phone before going there (granted we were 10 minutes late on our booking because we couldn’t find parking, but that still seems unfair). As we got there the host was nice, however he very passive aggressively pointed out on multiple occasions that we were late, which I guess it fair but I would have rather he just turned us down as we got there if it was that big of an issue (considering we couldn’t even have the whole menu to choose from). Overall the place was nice, however I feel like we could not enjoy its full potential due to the limited menu.

We were looking for somewhere nice to sample super fresh local ingredients in St Ives and tripadvisor sent us to Source Kitchen. We were sat at the bar which gave us a perfect view into the kitchen which was spotless and ran like clockwork. Waiting staff were excellent - knowledgable, fun, friendly and attentive. Food was incredible. Local oysters were excellent, we loved the sharing plates and the lobster was perfectly cooked.

Wonderful! We were greeted amazingly, looked after and guided with what food was good. 10/10 dishes to share that really bonds the table. Delicious dishes including the tuna, heritage confit tomatoes and the nduja flatbreads! Wine and puddings were also amazing! The service was amazing and the espresso martini at the end made it!

Wow - had a birthday meal here last week and what a treat. 4 of us went and shared the dishes so got to try a lot of what was on offer and all was delicious. Service was fantastic and our waiter took time to explain each dish as it arrived. Highly recommend for a treat.

We had our best meal of ten days in St.Ives here. We reserved, but wrong date (our error) and they managed to get us a couple of seats at the bar to eat anyway. The quality of the food is superb, with lots of smallish plates to pick from and share. High quality local produce, with interesting flavour combinations. And just lovely, friendly staff happy to advise on dishes and chat about life in equal measure. Highly recommended

The staff here were so nice. Really down to earth hood people. The food was excellent- in particular my wife and I couldn’t get over how tasty and generous a portion the Ray wing was. Great food, dining, experience.

Really lovely restaurant in the heart of St. Ives. Menu was thoughtful, local, seasonal and very well presented. We found it walking around town and think it was the best restaurant in St. Ives - we went for both dinner and breakfast. To the other comments regarding price and portions, we found this food to be very reasonably priced for the quality, preparation, and service. By far the best meal we had in St. Ives! Can’t wait to come back again

Delicious and memorable. We showed up without a booking on a Saturday evening and were lucky to be squeezed in. We wanted to avoid the 'chips with everything' places and weren't disappointed. Really wonderful, just don't look too hard at your credit card statement afterwards.

Three of us ate out here on Friday evening. We shared some great local seafood; lobster, crab and mussels cooked and presented perfectly. It was a great evening to round off our week in St Ives. Service was friendly and helpful which is appreciated as my wife is coeliac. Lots of menu options for her to choose from. We liked it so much the last time we ate here that we came back. The only reason that it’s not a 5 star score is that it is a bit pricey in my view for a place that doesn’t have a sea view (but the welcome, service, atmosphere and quality of cooking is brilliant).

Really blown away with this place. The wine was great, we shared a number of dishes; the crab, mussels, oysters, potatoes, braised beef and garlic flatbread to start. Every dish was amazing and super tasty and the presentation was lovely. The host was friendly, attentive and funny. A must visit in the centre of St Ives just of fore Street.

Good food but very expensive. Delicious flavors and friendly service, but not always attentive. Avoid the places at the bar because you don't feel comfortable there. Great evening, but the restaurant is not what you would expect for these prices.

Absolutely delicious food. As a chef myself there is nothing I appreciate more than non-fussy, great quality, tasty food! Source Kitchen uses local ingredients and prepares them perfectly to enhance the flavour profile of each ingredient! Will definitely be back for more! Service was great too with very attentive, efficient, and kind staff.

The focus here is on fresh and quality ingredients done really well. Never had raw asparagus before but thinly sliced with pesto and cheese it was superb. It’s a small plate sharer place so order a bunch of stuff and share. It’s also a bit taster menu so as you finish one plate then next one comes out so you can enjoy each dish on its own merit. Simple food done really well.

Cozy restaurant with nice variety of dishes. Cool concept of sharing plates for the table was perfect for our table of 4. Nice wine menu and the food was so fresh and served piping hot straight from the kitchen which we all loved. Also recommend the tart for desert 👌🏻

Despite using their own email contact form to book I had no reply. On checking the actual premises it would appear this establishment is closed despite their web site saying the opposite. There is a 'lease for sale' notice in the window . Sadly the demise of a good Newquay restaurant

Great food, great choice of music and good cocktails. Particularly a fan of the Moonshine Cocktails, I had Pork Belly Roast and all was cooked to perfection. 5*

Fabulous fish - I had crab, scallops and sardines. Perfect for one! With some bread, of course. Started with a Cornish Pastis - that's right, aperitif, not meat and turnips in pastry. Very friendly service and a gorgeous view over the harbour as dusk fell. Cannot recommend strongly enough!!
