Beautiful setting overlooking lush gardens. Excellent, attentive service. Bread basket provided which was a nice touch. Had the Cornish lamb with lynonnaise potatoes which was very tasty and perfectly cooked vegetables. Wine list, bar drinks and good Prosecco served in small bottles.

Came here with the family, I was quite disappointed. The menu looked good, but the cooking just didn’t deliver for each course. Starter was over cooked, the rare steak was at least medium, the vegetables looked like they’d been cooked for an hour and I’m not sure what was going on with desert. Cheesecake was so dry, the cornish cheeseplate was ok but had diced mint leaves on it for reasons I still can’t fathom, the bread and butter pudding was over cooked as well and the custard had gone crusty. The waiter wasn’t wearing blue hygiene plasters, but that’s not his fault as he was only a young lad. Overall I think a fair assessment would be Toby Carvery standard for gastro pub prices.

During our 2 night stay at the hotel, we ate at the restaurant both nights. Like I said in my hotel review, the food is exquisite, there's a good choice of starters and mains. Service is excellent. The've got a good thing going here! Recommended!

An out of the way venue, well worth the trouble to find it. Warm wellcome, frienly staff, good food. Not a huge selection but I often find that this means the food is better.

Had an evening meal here with friends and family. Nice welcome and staff. Good food, but custard for my apple pie desert was not hot, so only 4 stars!

Very disappointed with our meal this time, we returned after a beautiful meal last year. The presentation of the starter and trying to eat it from a bowl wasnt an appealing way to start the meal and proved difficult when using cutlery. There was no exciting flavours. Main course was also bland and presentation also not as extravagant as our previous visit. Such a shame. Especially when you pay for a quality meal. Wont be returning.

The service was very slow. Food from order to table took 30 minutes. We tried to order soup of the day. Both options were not available. So we chose a crab sandwich with cucumber pickle and a fresh asparagus in mint pesto and pistachio + flatbread with wild garlic butter. The flatbread was good but arrived sometime after the asparagus dish. I had expected the asparagus to be cooked. However it was raw asparagus very finely sliced in pesto. The taste between cooked and raw is quite different. Personally I prefer the cooked flavour. The raw flavour is not as distinctive and there is only so much you can enjoy. The crab sandwich was a misnomer. The crab was spread between a section of baguette with a very hard crust and the cucumber pickle in slices also in between. It was incredibly difficult to eat and impossible to cut with an ordinary knife. We requested a sharper knife and this was supplied with the comment you had to expect this with a sourdough baguette. Really? and sourdough seemed unlikely ! Neither dishes were particularly enjoyable and jointly came to £43 which we thought expensive. Service charge was extra which we declined. We have been to Source before and the menu was excellent. This time it was very disappointing - something seems to have been lost in their sense of purpose and delivery.
