I have lived near Perranporth (GOONHAVERN) all my life and I adore the wateringhole but £7.50 for a pint of rattler is ATROCIOUS, considering Healey's is legitimately less than 3 miles away. Gylly beach cafe charges £5 for a pint of Rattler and they're nearly 10 miles away, It's sad. Get on Pard card cause you're killing the local business off, it's a shame because I've got very vivid memories of getting hot chocolate for cheap and seeing plenty of people I knew but now it's different. I understand times change and people move and catering to different people but in this economy it'd be nice if you looked after us locals a bit more.

It was a fine and usual experience at this restaurant. This is one of the restaurants available at the beach. It has options for Coffee, Pastey, Pizza, other food items and the liquor including beer. Options to sit inside and outside both are available. A toilet is available from the outside entrance. Dogs are welcome here. The food and coffee was good, however it is a bit expensive as expected due to the location. There is no parking available at the beach. You can park a car nearby parking and walk to the beach to access this restaurant.

Really wanted to rate this higher. A pub on a beach is genius and I love that. A shame the cocktail bar wasn't there and the building was being worked on. Thankfully it didn't put me off too much. Still a nice atmosphere However, the young barman with dark hair didn't have a clue what he was doing. I had to repeat my order 3-4 times. A Jameson with ginger ale and a Guinness. He poured the Guinness and gave me a Jameson and a crabbies. Apparently they don't do ginger ale but charged me for a crabbies and already opened it. Please train this guy better. He seems nice enough The food itself was just ok Would definitely come back. Loved it

For years I have come to Perranporth with my family and every single time I have avoided biting food from the Watering Hole, for some weird reason presuming it wouldn’t be very good. Well, how wrong was I! Amazing fish and chips, could actually be the best I’ve ever had. If, like me, you’re a bit of a snob about food, don’t judge a book by its cover. What do I mean by that? Well, because it’s always so busy in the summer I had presumed the food couldn’t be great - I was imagining Weatherspoons ping and ding. Lesson learnt. The food was just brilliant. Homemade tartar sauce. Light and crispy batter on the fish, hot fresh, no soggy bottom! Chips also fresh and a generous portion too. I also had a chocolate which was also quality. Perfect after a long dog walk. Staff were friendly and helpful. Sure the floor is a bit sandy, it’s on the beach and welcomes dogs, which for us was another winning feature. So, what have I learnt today? When we go to Perranporth, lunch at the Watering Hole is a must.

Good food and good service from the staff, super welcoming, etc. However, I am very unhappy when I was sitting with my girlfriend all of a sudden when I got up to pick up the pizza I had ordered. 4 men came and asked us to move because they had reserved the table we were sitting at. I was upset about that experience because when we got to the table we were sitting at there was no reservation, the table had been reserved. But all of a sudden these guys came and put a piece of A4 on the table and asked us to move because they had reserved that table even though we had been there at least 1 hour in advance. This place is lovely. Yes of course it is going to have all of the problems of being a pub on the beach, with the slightly sandy floors, and the USP making the drinks a bit pricier, but the tables are immersively shaped, the views are great, the decor is very unique looking, and there was a lot of seating in and around the pub. The main area was ok, but the other more expanded areas just feel like kind of last minuite additions or recent exstentions to fit more people. Absolutely worth going to, but criminally underrated.

Very disappointed with our meal this time, we returned after a beautiful meal last year. The presentation of the starter and trying to eat it from a bowl wasnt an appealing way to start the meal and proved difficult when using cutlery. There was no exciting flavours. Main course was also bland and presentation also not as extravagant as our previous visit. Such a shame. Especially when you pay for a quality meal. Wont be returning.

The service was very slow. Food from order to table took 30 minutes. We tried to order soup of the day. Both options were not available. So we chose a crab sandwich with cucumber pickle and a fresh asparagus in mint pesto and pistachio + flatbread with wild garlic butter. The flatbread was good but arrived sometime after the asparagus dish. I had expected the asparagus to be cooked. However it was raw asparagus very finely sliced in pesto. The taste between cooked and raw is quite different. Personally I prefer the cooked flavour. The raw flavour is not as distinctive and there is only so much you can enjoy. The crab sandwich was a misnomer. The crab was spread between a section of baguette with a very hard crust and the cucumber pickle in slices also in between. It was incredibly difficult to eat and impossible to cut with an ordinary knife. We requested a sharper knife and this was supplied with the comment you had to expect this with a sourdough baguette. Really? and sourdough seemed unlikely ! Neither dishes were particularly enjoyable and jointly came to £43 which we thought expensive. Service charge was extra which we declined. We have been to Source before and the menu was excellent. This time it was very disappointing - something seems to have been lost in their sense of purpose and delivery.
