Popped in here on the off chance I might find a GLUTEN FREE choice , and I was right!! The GLUTEN FREE MENU is very impressive, lots of choice!! I went for the Spring Chicken dish which was very well cooked , very well presented, and very tasty!! I just came to Carlisle for my tea as I'd travelled from Settle on the beautiful, scenic railway, and I have to say , I made a great choice!! The staff were very helpful and polite too , which makes a refreshing change!!

Visited Yea Rah Liverpool one on Sunday 1st. Firstly walked in to a not very smiling staff. ordered our food me and my stepson ordered full rack of ribs to which they didn’t have so had to settle in n half a rack each. When it arrived presentation was good but av seen more meat on a butchers pencil I was spitting out bone and fat disgusting. My wife ordered chicken jalfrezi which was very dry and served on a hot plate very unusual. My other stepson ordered chicken melt which was cold and had Edam cheese not even melted and wouldn’t feed a pigeon never mind a growing 6’4 Lad so he wasn’t impressed.. my stepdaughter ordered peri peri chicken and it come as a whole chicken cut in half she wasn’t impressed either. I visited the toilets and looked like it hadn’t been checked for a while maybe 3 hours disgusting 🤮… so over all we will not be visiting this place ever again oh and a price tag of £105

Went for tea and cake. Had to return dirty cup. Teapot lid cracked and would not shut as waiter pointed out! Poppyseed and lemon cake was inedible being very dry and felt old. Staff busy chatting to each other and not worried about bad service. Expensive- just counting on mane. Go elsewhere.

Called here for a drink after a walk with a friend visiting the area. My friend only wanted a glass of tap water and I ordered a cranberry juice. I was taken aback when the server said “That will be £4.00” and that she would bring the drinks out to the terrace for us. I started to wonder if there was a charge for tap water, but when the drinks arrived she confirmed quite abruptly that no, it was the cranberry juice that had cost £4.00. It arrived in a short tumbler, (not much bigger than a whiskey tumbler) with seven or so pieces of ice and was very definitely a cordial. It was so weak that the liquid only had the slightest pink hue. Felt absolutely ripped off - £4.00 for a small, very diluted cordial is an outrageous charge. Have previously called many times at this pub in the past, but will not return in future.

Unbelievably poor! The food. Almost like it was a bet internally to see what they could get away with. Starter was Pate which resembles phallus on a cold day. Served bizarrely and not edible. Main course. Easily worse. The chicken roast came out and was suspiciously round. On closer inspection it looked like slices of reformed left overs. (It’s since been suggested that Bernard Matthew’s might be responsible for this delicacy). The service. We had toast ourselves. No biggy and it was a nice room. Alarm bells should have rang when we were only the 4th table at 3pm on a Sunday….and the menu was a laminate. The girl who took the order was polite. The bloke who brought the film out was miserable and made no attempt to engage. No one came To ask us if the food was OK and when they took it back afterwards barely touched they never spoke. I have now found out they have a 1 star FSA review and makes total sense. They should be embarrassed for serving such poor food. I am not sure where all the 5 star reviews are coming from, although I could guess. Eat here at your peril.

Visited for lunch, only one other table occupied, so no excuses for being busy. Service very poor and slow and food even worse. Wine was not very nice. Pizza was absolutely cremated, and did not have all the toppings on that it should have done. Asked for sandwich on brown bread, when it arrived it was on white bread. The explanation was that they didn't have any brown??.......please inform me of this before you bring it as I could then have the opportunity to change my order. No atmosphere and very cold. There were 2 fires lit at either end of the pub, but these were both right next to the Two large TV'S with Darts matches blaring out, Will never be returning.

We live 10 minutes away from here and we thought we would give it a try for early dinner Sunday evening. It's hidden away and not advertised but we checked it out online and felt it was reasonably priced and a "hidden gem". It is a beautiful Country house set in lovely grounds. We expected it to be quiet at 6 o'clock on a Sunday evening but it was very busy. We felt we were one of the youngest there and we are 60! The food was just ok but the service was shocking! There were TWO very young girls running the bar, the tables, the reception area (taking payments and assumingly seeing to the hotel guests). They were not trained very well and were literally "strolling" around with no sense of urgency. They looked and sounded very bored and obviously didn't want to be there. One brought desserts to a table opposite but didn't think to take our plates away, and we had finished our meal 20 minutes earlier. I asked for another drink but didn't get it, we were not offered the dessert menu until we had got fed up waiting, so we didn't have one. The carrots were cold, but the "Port Diane" was good. We will give it another go, as they were advertising for staff (which they obviously need urgently).

Really impressive place considering it's part of an attraction itself. We visited 5 years ago but this was another level l. Really well done. The prices aren't exactly cheap but you get what you pay for. The vension pasts was delicious and the burger was up there with any other very good restaurant.

I went Thur night for a meal with my partner as had gone to the sports bar to watch the United game a few weeks ago and found it very relaxing with a nice crowd of people so I thought I would try the grill. While the staff were very friendly and polite the meals were bland andnot well made.£19 for a small burger and some thin chips.(no coleslaw or salad).I know its a hotel so the money wasn't the issue but how hard is it to make a decent burger?? Even though it said it was a brioche roll it wasn't.Dry burger and pretty tasteless. My girlfriend had quinoa salad ,veg with chicken added.Again tasless, with 2 chicken fillets dumped on top. PS :£34- £37 for a steak. No one asked how the food was the entire time we were at the table. My girlfriend made a comment to the lady at the desk about the burger not being great and all we got was sorry to hear that. As a chief, if you can't make a basic burger then you need to change jobs.😡
