The best restaurants serving Other cuisines food in West Wales

We were in Newport over Christmas and went in The Royal Oak a few times. On Christmas Day we were given a free drink for our first round even though we're not locals. The pub is well laid out with a super fish tank. The beer is good and there always seems a lively, though not too noisy, throng of customers. The Royal Oaks menu specializes in curry, although there are also many other dishes available. The curry is authentically made, the menu even carries a warning that they use proper spices. The food was excellent, plenty of it a value for money.

No Vegan Cakes in stock and no WIFI I was here waiting for my van to be serviced in J&J Motors so had 2 hrs to kill. Was on my own but thre was no WIFI. The staff were very pleasant. One young lady told me that they have been waiting for over a year to get it sorted. Absolutely shocking customer service!

Lovely little cafe. Log burner downstairs with a little gift shop and cafe is upstairs. It's dog friendly too.

Having received 30% off mains vouchers, we decided to have a night out with our friends and our well behaved dogs. We were really pleasantly surprised at how good the whole meal experience was. We were politely greeted and shown to our table which was spacious and in a corner which was good as we had our dogs. The wine was lovely as was the food. The men had the massive mixed grills, which they both failed to eat and us girls had the cowboy burgers which were really tasty. We were all too full for pudding. With the 30% off mains, it was a really good evening out, didn't break the bank and we will return.

How is it possible to undercook frozen peas? Tried a small plate of cod and chips and I DID expect all the batter to contain fish. Still, I suppose 1 out of 3 isnt terrible! Standards may have dropped and no member of staff has expressed an interest. Presumably our experimental, small appetites don’t warrant it.

Really disappointed was looking forward to coming here this morning we arrived about 9. 20 and was told they couldn't open because they were still waiting for a member of staff to arrive 9 am they were supposed to open so we went for a little walk then went back 20 mins later and they still wouldn't let us in because they were still waiting for a member of staff to arrive was 2 members of staff we was really disappointed as we were looking forward to having breakfast here not very professional at all how long would they have waited for?

Was a fab pub/restaurant but sadly another covid victim. Not looking like any prospect of reopening in the near or distant future. :(

"Excuse me, my kids have peanut allergies, can you tell me if the cakes are ok for them to eat please?" "dunno mate, couldn't tell you" Not good enough, if you're going to sell food to the public you need to know it's allergens - that's the law. "Dunno mate" and no attempt to check is not acceptable

Popped in after visiting friends in Carmarthen. Wish we hadn’t…what’s going on with the service? Do you want customers? Because you certainly made us feel like you didn’t want us there……..and when we sent the curry back (as it was appalling) …. we just wanted to leave. And at that point we did…. Horrible place, run by horrible people…

We've been here a few times, went again yesterday, lovely again! Food is pub grub standard and cheap, no complaints from me! Had a few pints too & was very happy to find out when I ordered a Guinness & Guinness 0.0, that the non-alcoholic one was free as a deal in January! Nice little afternoon out without breaking the bank, thank you very much. See you again soon :)

Awful place, every time I visit tables are cluttered with dirty pots, the barista area is filthy and covered in coffee grounds and they were in my drink.no interaction between staff and customer, very poor customer skills

Horrendously awful unpleasant service. Told to order at table by rude lady then after a bit of a wait the nice lady advised us to order at the counter. We ordered the breakfast. Mine came first - upon seeing my bacon my partner went up to the counter and asked for his bacon well done as he likes it crispy with no fat. We waited… I had almost finished my breakfast, we weren’t happy that we were still waiting so went to the counter to find his meal just sitting there getting cold waiting for the bacon! Not good, so we decided to cancel that meal as it had obviously gone cold. Rude lady told us that we we couldn’t have a discount - she got out her mobile phone and started taking pictures of us - we tried to make light of this by smiling for her .. she was very angry and was shouting at us to leave.. by this point the place was empty. What an awful woman this lady is.. No customer service skills at all.. The food seemed fine and was cooked by the nice lady who was obviously bullied by the rude one.. Such an awful experience so we won’t ever go back.. 😱

Went there for a Sunday carvery. Food was superb plenty of choice of veg and meats. High quality food served by a friendly staff.

Obviously a locals pub . Went in for Sunday lunch and this could have been way better . Portions sizing was not great and although the separate vegetables were hot the rest of the meal was cold . Why do people serve hot food on to cold plates . More vegetables were needed as we looked around and we got nearly the same as a table of two we were 6 adults :( stunning views outside . Like I said could have been way better £11:95 for a Sunday roast …

We ordered a mixed box of 6 for £15 and couldn’t even finish them as they were so bad. The toppings tasted like they had been left open in the fridge for a long time, the brownie itself was a horrible rubbery texture and bland taste. Such a shame as the brownies look very appealing and the shop front was inviting
