Shame to see limited opening hours but what a lovely pub. Friendly staff and great food. Would definitely recommend!

I’m not local and was worried where to find a nice vibe with good food. This would best a LOT of places for food quality and the staff went out of their way to get us a table and high chair on a booked night. The vibe and food here is great and we will be back! 10/10. Thanks!

Very disappointed when we went for lunch on a Saturday. When the waitress brought the menus over to the table instead of greeting us, proceeded to cross off items in the menu that they had run out of. To our alarm this took her quite a while. By the time the waitress had finished Erasing the mouth watering lamb shoulder, all the burgers, anything with pork and the extremely slow roast beef from the menu it was easier for her to relay what they had left. Very underwhelming sausage and mash (poor gravy), good fish finger sandwich and very good ploughman’s. However, this did take 40 minutes to arrive from the point of order. Furthermore, extra drinks that were ordered did not come. But we would return to give it another go. Very good atmosphere and drinks selection. More disappointed due to its good reputation which it didn’t live up to.

I just feel compelled to reply, as a loyal customer, to LadyLuca. I sat in the bar area all day and early evening Sat 18th Jan. You’re right...it was heaving. Unheard of mid-January, but that must say something about it’s popularity. We didn’t eat on this occasion so I wouldn’t dream of commenting under the heading “restaurant” as I didn’t order a meal - much the same as you, it would seem. There was a superb atmosphere. The staff were great and the service was friendly. We moved our seats and squashed around our table to let others join in the fun. We made new friends and had a wonderful afternoon. The Angel will never turn away custom. This is a difficult industry, yet the current owners have enjoyed 25 years of success. Yes, there may be the odd compliant, that’s the nature of customer service, but you didn’t even eat here. Seems unfair #justsaying

RUDE STAFF felt like they were trying to turn away customers! We didn’t stay for food because they made such a fuss that we were eating at 2:20pm, we weren’t allowed to sit anywhere we asked to (even though tables were empty) personally I think that the waitress was lazy and avoiding work....Will not be visiting again. Much prefer the staff and service in Cawdor or Yr Hen Vic.

Had lunch and a few beers here whilst on holiday in the Brecon Beacons. Found the pub to be really cosy and the staff very welcoming. We were impressed with the good choice of veggie and vegan items on the menu (and a lot of nice meaty stuff too, but right now we're not eating much meat). The cask beers we tried were also in good condition.

Dated decor. Untrained staff. Scruffy attire.Poor menu. Poor food. How does this place survive? It will take some vast improvement before I return to this establishment.

We had lunch at the Angel last Friday which was the Festival of Senses weekend,while the restaurant was busy we had booked a table in advance,we were promptly seated and our food was served in a good time considering how busy it was. The food was of good quality,warm and tasty. Would recommend eating here.

I made a booking for a well reviewed establishment with a very similar name “The Angel Inn at Salem” not realising there are two pubs in the area with very similar names. So our group of fifteen walked through the door on an exceedingly wet Saturday evening only to be told our booking was somewhere else. After trying to call the other Angel and discovering our mobile phones did not work, the Llandelio Angel inn kindly called on our behalf, cancelled our booking and luckily found our whole group a table we could all sit around. The staff were very efficient, the food arrived quickly and our whole group had a lovely meal. The vegetarian menu was also very impressive. I personally tried the slow cooked lamb, this was truly mouth watering. The prices are very reasonable and the local beer went down a treat.

Had the slow roast shoulder of lamb with home cooked chips an seasonal veg. It was sensational - the best meal I’ve had in ages. Lovely, reasonably priced “Grapefull Dead” red to go with it too. Great service from the staff on a busy night. Not to be missed!

Went here for lunch, early afternoon in the summer holidays. I'd read about it online and it sounded good. Wen we arrived the exterior is really underwhealming, and we almost didnt go in. But I am really glad we did. the food was really, really good. Lots of variety on the menu and really nicely presented. Service was spot on and teh decor has plenty of little quirks which add to the overall charm. Strongly recommended, in particualr the ploughmans lunch which was a beast to finish!

Family meal on the last day of our holiday in the area. The staff were so welcoming and friendly and the food was great- proper pub fayre done well. The slow cooked beef suet crust pie was delicious!

We didn’t book but we were able to sit in the bar area. Food size and service are second to none and the taste..... wowsers absolutely gorgeous. We had a 3 course meal and each course was beautifully presented and tasted amazing

Visited on a Friday night for dinner, first of all the staff were not sure what time the food was served too, then the order was taken at 7.45. After waiting for 1 hour the staff came to our table and apologised for the wait and said the food would be with us in 10 minutes, finally after another 20 minutes we gave up and told the staff we were leaving. To end of a positive the staff were friendly and the pub was clean and welcoming.

Dropped in here on the off-chance and wasn't disappointed.

We often eat here and service and food is usually good. The bistro is set at the back of the pub, with painted walls and well spaced tables. There's a choice of a fixed price menu with a choice of one, two, or three courses. There is also a separate à la carte list. Food was good, better than your average pub food, and service is very friendly but we were disappointed after our main. Purse as all staff seemed to disappear and we couldn’t get anybody’s attention. After waiting fir such a long time we gave up on asking for deserts and asked fir the bill, only to have to ask for it three times before we had to go To the counter to get it and pay.

We had a food there earlier this month an£ it was absolutely delicious. My husband had steak and I had swordfish. Highly recommend 👍👍

Came here with my wife (honeymooning) and after about 20 mins looking at the brilliant (and cheap) menu settled on the house burger because of the 'sticky chilli jam'.

Ate here with my wife. I had beef pie with chips my wife had fish and chips. The oil the chips had been cooked in was overdue for a change and consequently the chips did not taste too good. We were both ill that night so will not be returning again

Cheap fish & chips at £8.50. Fish no better than anywhere else, not a large piece. Those chips were like wedges but more chip size, i wasn't fussed, some were overdone due to their small size. My friend said his burger was delicious & it was a big burger.

Went this afternoon for an afternoon meal with the family. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, the food was very tasty and great value. Will definitely return soon.

We have been here many, many times in the last 15 years. I have had the best ever steak and the second best sea bass here. The service is truly excellent when a senior waitress is present. When she is not, then service is only good. Ambience is unique. Slightly eccentric in decor. The Thursday night hot buffet were once the talk of the area.Beer is awesome. Give it a go is my advice.

Called into Angel for lunch with family( grand children included. ) Lovely welcome from staff, ordered the homemade pheasant pie . Son in law had beef pie. Got to say it was the best pie ever , also S on in law was very impressed with his! . Certainly recommend trying the pies!

It was a spur of the moment decision to dine there, and we were not disappointed. In fact we were very pleased with our choice of eating place. Although a busy evening, we were soon allocated a table and drinks. The atmosphere was warm and the staff friendly and busy!

The choice on the menu was huge, which isn’t always in myopinion a good thing. The food was ok in fact. I had greek salad which you can’t go wrong with, although there was too much balsamic drizzled on it. The burger and chips were ok too, and the stuffed mushrooms a bit dry. The place was a little cold and soleless, and in need of a good scrub. However as pubmeals go not a bad choice.

We dined here two years ago and were so pleased that the standard was as good as ever. The choice of food is excellent and very well presented. The staff are attentive and eager to make your visit as pleasant as possible. Dafydd was excellent in his attention to us.

Went in on Saturday afternoon. Asked about food and were told 6pm, when we went to request menus at 6 were told they would serve us if we ordered quickly. Food was average. Drinks were ok. Interesting selection of chairs

The Old Man and myself booked a table for Valentine's day (not deliberate, we just wanted something to eat). We chose from the fixed menu as there was such a good choice but the usual menu also looked good. The food was excellent and the service very attentive. I had jammy dodger cheesecake for pudding ... it was so yummy I was still thinking about it the next day. If we are in the area again we will definitely return.

A lovely pub right in the centre of town. Lots of home cooked options, we went for the suet pies which were excellent and served with home made chips and gravy. Again, home made deserts were good, highly recommend the almond bread and butter pudding. A few good real ales make this place well worth a visit

We booked a celebration dinner here for an 18th birthday on Jan 2. The staff put up 2 banners and placed the napkins we had supplied randomly on the table. Not sure why they did that as there were enough for every guest and could have been placed in front of the chairs. The cutlery was in boxes. As it was a special occasion we think the table could have been laid. The helium balloons we supplied were correctly placed where the birthday boys were to sit.

Service was good and food was really good the portions are very good as well. Two courses for £15.95. Which is good.

decided to write a review, when i came on here was actually surprised at the mixed reviews. we met here last Thursday for a pre Christmas family get together & meal. we had a lovely time, great service, lovely food & quirky decor.

Me and partner went here for his birthday meal whilst visiting the area. We really enjoyed our chicken and steak, which came with real chips.

So disappointed took my family here for a meal, the presentation was poor and the meal just tasteless and not even cooked properly either underdone or overdone meat......veg didn’t compliment the meal at all, piled up plates of chips/fries even the desserts weren’t good.....all I can say is we won’t be going here again in a hurry

Disappointing food tonight ! The meat was lovely husband had steak & I had chicken but we had burnt sweet potato fries &’veg was tasteless. Maybe just an off day but won’t be rushing back

Food is generally good. Waiters don't always realise you are ready for another drink. It is a bit dark and there is nothing to absorb sound so if a noisy group is in you can find it difficult to hear.

It's heartening to see so much choice in this rather traditional area. There was a whole page of veggie options on the menu. I chose the Monster Vegetarian Burger, which was tasty and well presented. It wasn't exactly a 'monster' size but with a slice of halloumi and onion rings, it was a good evening meal. Friendly, efficient staff at this cosy venue too.

2 adults, 2 children. 2 meals were fine. In fact, good. The lamb came with nothing, no veg at all. It needed it. The steak was full of gristle and sinew and was pretty much inedible. When asked mid meal it was explained but we tried to power through! Again at the end we were honest and said it wasn’t good. The bill was for all 4 meals, which we paid. The atmosphere was good and it’s a nice place, just disappointed with the steak and the subsequent service!

On holiday in Llandeilo this week we decided to try the Angel for dinner. We had a portion of the three fish dish to share for starters and then both of us ordered a sirloin steak for main course (not cheap at £17.95 each!) I ordered a medium rare one

Good varied menu to choose from. Food was tasty, meat tender with good sauces. Really good service - despite being busy food was not long in being served and the busy staff still had time to check you had what you wanted and were happy to serve you. Diolch.

The food at The Angel is always tasty, but we were disappointed during our recent visit for unusual reasons.

Absolutely fantastic value for money and a stunning meal. Although service was extremely friendly, our meals and drink did take quite a long time to arrive on a relatively quiet Tuesday evening. Other than that would highly recommend, well worth the wait as the good was Beautiful!

We visited Llandeilo on a wet Wednesday evening. It was cold and this bar was open. The barman was very helpful and offered us a drink straight away. He said the food did not start to be served until 6pm we was ok to wait for it.

On a very hot day the Angel bar is a great place to have a delicious lunch. It was really cool and comfortable. We relaxed on comfortable sofas and enjoyed our haloumi and roasted vegetable salads. There is a comprehensive and interesting lunch menu from which to choose. Full meals, salads, 4 variations of ploughmans salads, burgers, wraps, sandwiches and more, all sensibly priced.

I was visiting Llandeilo in May,I had 2 perfect meals here.The Apple and Raspberry crumble ,was the best I have ever had. overall, great food ,good hospital,cozy atmosphere.

Went out in a group of six for an evening meal. The service and food was really good . However the evening was ruined by a very noisy party on the other table who were screaming and shouting throughout the meal.

The food experience is always amazing. They are very accommodating and friendly. Definitely worth a visit lunchtime or an evening meal. It's a nice place for a quiet drink too.

We couldn't have been more grateful to all the staff especially Glenis at the Angel Inn. She helped us store our bags after a traumatic time of our car breaking down. The food was amazing, we ate there 3 times so wasn't a fluke. On our last visit we had a few drinks in the beer garden, Glenis came and took our order up there and a member of staff came to tell us ur food was ready so we could eat inside.The staff went above and beyond for us. I can highly recommend this lovely country pub. Very friendly place.

Visited the Angel twice this month, went there on a friend's recommendation and I'm glad we did. You must try the slow roasted beef, it's to die for ! The burgers are amazing too, plenty of food choices, I cannot fault the service either !...

Visiting Llandeilo we decided to pop into this lovely pub the welcome was very warm. Plenty of staff to serve and help with food choice. Food arrived promptly, plenty of it and was of a high standard. Personally we could not fault anything, location was great as well, in the middle of town. Did like the bar area, with its lounge appearance, so if we did not have food could sit and chill, will be returning soon.

Popped in for lunch whilst on our Christmas holiday, the food, service, surroundings and atmosphere drew us back the following day.......and we've booked a table for a third day for our New Year's lunch! We highly recommend a visit if you're in the area and we will certainly visit again.......we love this place, and it's dog friendly, what's not to like!

We had lunch here whilst travelling through the area. It looked like an old fashioned hotel but the restaurant menu was very up to date! The decor is cosy and the welcome warm. Although it was quiet on a Monday, the atmosphere was still friendly and welcoming. Servie was good and all three of our main meals were delicious, and well presented and cooked. Prices were good value for such good quality. Lovely!

4 of us were eating, two had a Ploughman's, one of which was with Chedder cheese, the portion was disgracefully small, and was grated cheese. When we queried this we were told that was all the cheese they had left.

The food is excellent as are the staff,and being dog friendly is a bonus.

Saturday night sitting where the staff were very welcoming, bilingual and helpful. The food was good where three of us had the sea bass, monster lamb burger and the chicken with chorizo and really enjoyed. Two others in our party had the duck and although described ascpink, it was too pink for us! The price was very reasonable and a good selection of wine. Well worth a visit. Gwych bod pawb yn siarad Cymraeg hefyd wrth gynnal sgyrsiau a llawn hiwmor!

Whilst visiting llandeilo we had lunch here. We had our dog with us and was welcomed at the bar area, we were made to feel welcome by all the staff who were very attentive, the food was very good can recommend the homemade shepherds pie. All food was served promptly and cooked very well. It is hard to find a place that allows dogs so was very pleased to find it.

Popped in for lunch with the dog in tow, as they do welcome dogs into the bar area. It was busy and they had a large party in the restaurant (that would have been booked I imagine, and they should have staffed accordingly). To start we couldn't get a table downstairs so went to their walled beer garden upstairs - well it is nothing like the pictures on the front door of the pub. Felt like the poor relation put out with the tumbleweeds! Had a drink and placed our food order, and luckily a table in the bar downstairs came free, so we were able to be with civilisation again! But the wait went on, and on, and on.. We asked how long it would take 3 times, and on checking our receipt, by the time the food arrived we had waited for over an hour! And with a whingeing, hungry 5 year old!! His fish was not cooked properly, and the other dishes were just generally poor. We alerted the staff to the fact the fish was not cooked, and were given a bowl of chips instead, as to cook a new piece of fish would "take too long". We asked for some free drinks as the food had taken so long and was told "No, we don't do that". However, the manager then came and did get us complimentary drinks. We then queried why we only had chips in place of the uncooked fish and was told it would have taken too long to do, so we had to ask for this to be refunded - which they did, but they certainly would not have offered. We just kept being fobbed off with "we do have a large party in the restaurant". Not my problem - you should have more staff! Would not recommend for food. Bar was busy so had quite good atmosphere, so a quick drink would be all that would be advised!

Lovely ambience. A good and varied menu with very reasonable prices. Quirky and dark interior but it works really well. Lunched on chips with toppings - garlic mushrooms for 1 leek and creamy leek and pepper sauce for the other - very yummy. Definitely recommend.

Went here on a Thursday night for a girls get together, place was very busy very lovely staff and the food was brilliant. Everyone enjoyed and commented how good it was.

Good range of traditional British food at reasonable prices. Acceptable range of beers. Food delivered in reasonable time. Food quality was excellent. Friendly service. Prices were moderate with no nasty surprises. Have been back many times and have not been disappointed.

We called in for a bite to eat at lunchtime on the recommendation of a local! We weren't disappointed!! We had a warm welcome and delicious food!! The lamburgers are fantastic!! The staff were all very polite and friendly and we will definitely call in again when we're in the area!!

Booked a table because the restaurant at The Cawdor Arms where we were staying had a private function. Big mistake, was greeted by a group of raucous drunk women lying on the floor doing various ridiculous things accompanied by loud strings of expletives. Now, I am broad minded but this just spoiled the whole concept of a Bistro, to make it worse the Landlord was behind the bar enjoying the yobbish behavior and language whilst in the back his wife was busy trying to pacify the full restaurant of people. Just totally unprofessional, this place won't last until they get a grip on the bar clientele they allow to roll around the floor. No prizes fir guessing we didn't stay for dinner. Thank God for the Ginhaus just down the road

If you are looking for traditional good food then give this place a go. don't be put off by the look. It has been re decorated and has lots of old photos of the area on the walls. there is a good choice of food and portions are good too. Friendly staff all you need for a lkovely lunch or dinner

The restaurant is quite modern at the back of a pub which when you enter looks a bit old and dingy. The food was certainly modern and we enjoyed a nice family meal for a reasonable price. The staff were certainly friendly and helpful.

My grandma and I had dinner here and loved it. The food was very yummy and reasonable price with a good section of meals on offer. There are old photos on the walls but I think this is nice too look at and add to the atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful I would highly recommend this place.

A brief visit to this inn, plenty of beer choices and cider. Had a few pints of cider and watched the rugby. Good place for sport whilst the partner shops in town

Went in here whilst holidaying in the area. The decor is dated but don't let that put you off. Food is great and staff are fantastic. My children and dog were made to feel very welcome.

We were staying in beautiful Llandeilo for a long Easter weekend and booked an evening meal in the Angel Inn, wonderful atmosphere, all the staff were great, large menu choice, and fantastic food, definitely not to be missed.

We were a party of 10 & orders were taken as soon as we got comfortable . The food presented to us that night was outstanding & we've never been disappointed here . Everyone said the same & a great night was had by all ......will most definitely return again !

We were staying in the Cawdor and had a lunchtime drink in the Angel when it was comparatively quiet. Impressed by the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff, we booked a table for the Saturday night. Very wise to book! The place was packed with families, groups and couple and the atmosphere was crackling and cracking! Despite the business, service was swift , friendly and efficient and the food great. Three courses and one bottle of wine came to a total of £62 for two. Great venue, great atmosphere, great food and staff

This badly lit old pub has unloved and uncomfortable seating and furniture. The walls are littered with photos from the 1920's and 30's. The music was from the 1950's and the compilation was very bad, although some peoples taste may differ. The food was basic but edible and the staff and service was good. I really hope never to be taken here again. After my lunch meeting I went down the road a few doors and had a delicious icecream.

Had a couple of pints of Gower Gold to wash down the best Faggots, mushy peas and chips I've tasted in a long time! Highly recommended! Very friendly!

The prices were reasonable, but visiting while on a healthy eating kick yet a day too miserable for salad, I found it hard to find anything on the menu that appealed. The meal I did have was ok, but pedestrian - though I think my friend enjoyed hers. The decor may have been trying to come across as shabby chic but it mostly just seemed shabby. Friendly service though - can't fault that!

The atmosphere here was very nice as usual, the waitress was friendly. I ordered a bacon and brie baguette and chips. The baguette was lovely and the chips were great - homemade. The portion of chips was a little lacking compared with the other person on the table who had ordered the same but I had plenty. It was filling and I would definitely order it again
