Obviously a locals pub . Went in for Sunday lunch and this could have been way better . Portions sizing was not great and although the separate vegetables were hot the rest of the meal was cold . Why do people serve hot food on to cold plates . More vegetables were needed as we looked around and we got nearly the same as a table of two we were 6 adults :( stunning views outside . Like I said could have been way better £11:95 for a Sunday roast …

This is a great locals pub with a warm welcome. Don't let the exterior fool you nor the slightly haphazard tables inside. Well kept ale. Often has live local musicians performing too which is a real treat. Would be great to see the pub in the summer months as there is a HUGE roof terrace with great view.

This is not a restaurant! It's a very run down pub that serves some food. There is no table service and your food is served up in/on take away containers. The menu is limited to steak and chips, chicken and chips and a couple of other options with chips or homemade lasagne. It was an all together a very odd experience. Don't go here for a special occasion but if you want a take away with a view then it's perfect!

Pub has lovely views from the terrace unfortunately the inside is rather tired. Paintwork needs attention and the rugs in floor were dirty. We booked for 7:30 and only half the menu was available. Whilst appreciating there are staff shortages in the area generally currently this was a bit disappointing on what seemed a concise menu anyway. Mixed grill ordered had clearly been standing a while and was not good. Fish and chips was fine. Surprised that orders were taken at bar considering covid restrictions. All in all not up to par with other pubs locally

A very enjoyable visit earlier in the week was subsequently unfortunately overturned by a totally unreasonable and unacceptable attitude of the proprietor when a query arose over the charge of a drink which was advertised above the bar at a lower price than he charged. As a customer I was made to feel responsible for his oversight and his rudeness was to say the least ssurprising. This was despite the fact that earlier in the week he had ommited to include a round of drinks on my bill and had I not pointed it out when I settled my bill he would have been none the wiser and poorer by about £8. To add insult to injury he decided to refund me with 80p (although the advertised drink price was £1 cheaper and 2 drinks were ordered). I suggested he put this in a charity box but he just stormed off. All that was required was an apology.

Felt embarrassed as I had 2 teen girls with me but the amount of females and kids in here this was not a good ambiance. It’s a regulars pub so do not take your family in. Rough is an understatement

A proper locals’ pub with a bar propped up by sturdy and sweary Welshmen. Confusingly the laminated menu on the bar lists ordinary pub food, but there’s ANOTHER menu of gorgeous pizzas laden with Gorgonzola and sun dried tomatoes and asparagus, and the chef also popped his head out to say they had fresh bass or mackerel on the specials menu. Anyway, I don’t know what’s going on with the menus, but the pizza was up there with the best I’ve ever had, the staff were really friendly, and the sweary Welshmen were nice too. Plus a high chair for our little one and water for the dog, everyone happy.

Our accommodation was in walking distance so we went here on the first night of our stay in Solva. As others say, it seemed to be a real pub that serves a bit of food as opposed to a pub that tries to be a restaurant. In that strange period between Christmas and New Year, it was pretty quiet and there didn't seem to be an actual menu. We all had fish and chips which we all enjoyed. The price was reasonable for what it was and the service was friendly.I enjoyed the visit. They haven't fixed the sign yet so it's still the 'Eorge.

So often, pubs for locals and pubs for tourists are two different animals. The Royal 'Eorge could come across as a local pub for local people and certainly everyone who drinks their regularly know everyone else. Solva is not a big place after all.But the 'Eorge does manage to pull off the rare trick of keeping its regulars happy but also very welcoming to visitors. My partner and I spend two evenings in the pub - one with some pub grub (an excellent steak and lovely Welsh faggots) and a second night of boisterous live music courtesy of a local blues band. The drink flowed, the revellers revelled and everyone shouted "more" at the end of the night. It probably won't be everyone's cup of tea judging by some of the snotty reviews previously written, but if a good night out is required look no further when in Solva.

Having stayed in Solva a number of times we've never made it into The George so thought we'd check it out for Sunday lunch. After one pint of double dragon on the deck at the back we were forced in by the rain so went for another..well would be rude not to! By this stage the pub singer had started who was really good so feeling pretty mellow and spotting another table's lunches we took the plunge. I dont eat meat so had all the trimmings..would have been nice to have had one veg/fish alternative but hey ho they do the rest of the week so will let it go! My other half said the beef was beautiful..just fell apart. The veggies and roasties were good but yorkshires burnt on top..bit too long in the oven thats all. The puddings were a total bargain with generous ice cream portion..lemon tart and sponge pudding if I remember rightly! It could have been the beer, could have been the family with the little lad dancing to the music or just the general atmosphere and mix of tourists and locals but it all added together to make a very laid back afternoon which we enjoyed.

To start by being positive, the staff were very nice, particularly the guy behind the bar who reserved us a table at very short notice. Unfortunately that's about the only positive thing I can think of writing. Shortly after siting down I went to the toilet, which was basically 3 blocked urinals, a condom machine and a blown up picture of a woman's behind on the wall. We waited an hour for our food to arrive, but we were hoping the food would be worth the wait, sadly it wasn't. To start with the sauces placed on the table were out of date, some as much as a year. The 3 steaks were overcooked, and were served with prebattered shop bought onion rings. It's hardly difficult to batter a few rings of onion? My partner had a pizza off their pizza menu which looked really nice and authentic, but when it came it wasn't too great at all. We turned the pizza over and you could see the polystyrene marks on the base, clearly either a bought in pizza or bought in base. We also paid £1 extra for about 10 pieces of sweet corn. The chips were also bought in and very starchy and bland. Having waiting for an hour we didn't want to send any of the food back, but told the landlady when she came over, she then took one steak off the bill with a mediocre apology. After being very disappointed with our meals we quickly paid and left... But oh wait, as we're leaving we see the pizza chef still in uniform with a fag in her mouth leaning over the pizza oven, don't think we'll be going back. It's a shame as the views are beautiful and with such a great location there is potential here. Oh yeah one more positive thing, the pub chocolate lab was friendly.

Went here with my son, partner and his daughter... it was a hoot. We arrived at the same time as a few others with their kids, who got their orders in first, so the childrens food was limited but it all was very funny as the poor waiteress had to keep coming out to tell one of the families in the pub that what they had ordered had ran out. We ended up ordering three adult meals and one child burger. I ordered the lamb shank which came with mustard mash and seasonal veg.. a mix up probably my fault with the order as I got salad with the lamb gravy, but again it just made us laugh as the poor waitress was at this point beside herself and was totally lovely as was the bar lady. My partner had the fresh dressed crab which was served in a plastic grab case.. very funny. He tripped over what he thought was a step coming back to his chair but then realised it was a big dog. who then moved under the table we were eating from. very friendly dog.Overall, maybe the food wasnt the best we had had, but the evening was one of the most hillarious of the week. We called for an evening meal during our week's stay in Solva. The bar was quite busy, seemingly mostly locals, and everybody was very friendly. The pub is very basic in style and decor, and there were a couple of dogs wandering around off the lead (one of whom was the pub dog, a friendly brown labrador). There was a leaflet in our holiday apartment advertising takeaway Chinese from the Royal George but there was no Chinese food on the menu which was a bit confusing. I went for the fish of the day - mackeral - when it came it was nicely cooked (albeit only a very small fish - two would have been better) and was served with a large salad and one new potato! The meal was perfectly acceptable and was fairly priced, my other half also thought his meal - sausage and chips - was OK. Although we're both dog-lovers (and, indeed, had our own Border Collie with us, who stayed on her lead and tucked under the table which is what she does every time we take her into a pub), we didn't feel it appropriate for the resident dog - sweet though she was - to sit between us, salivating and staring intently at our food whilst we ate - as soon as we'd finished she bustled off to the next table to subject the diners there to the same treatment! All in all, it was a perfectly adequate meal in a perfectly adequate pub, but there was nothing there that tempted us back for a second visit.

It was just before 7p.m. and I was returning from a day out in the south of the county when I spotted the George and its advert for Chinese food. Sounded unlikely but pulled in anyway. The bar was busy and having squeezed past the many drinkers at the bar I looked around to see if there were vacant tables. The tables were the least of my problems! The floor was awash with beer and 1 table had 2 grappling men lying atop it, the upper one revealing quite a lot of derrière. Enough. If the pub was like this at 7 p.m what on earth would it be like later. I turned tail and headed out smartly!

Has a great menu and the staff are really friendly. My only gripe would be that it is a bit expensive

It was fine, just fine. Nothing special, so very off putting when you had to wait to order and wait even longer to have the table cleared. And even longer to get the table wiprd!

There are about 10 meals on the menu - mostly with chips, but its all freshly made and service is quick. There is also a childrens menu. The pub has a great view at the back on the terrace as well.

Staightforward menu, utlising local produce, lots of fresh local fish. Friendly staff and good service make for a fun relaxed evening. This is not fine dining, but good old fashioned pub grub in a friendly envrionment. Great sea views from the terrance are lovely on a warm day, and the main bar is comfortable for those wet weather occasions. Very family, and dog friendly. a great place to grab god value food.

Went in with my family by chance for some food as we were on holiday in the area. Very accommodating pub, children welcome. Food and drink was lovely and well presented for pub food and good service from the lady behind the bar.

After having enjoyable experience with my wife at the weekend in the Mariners, when full. Forget it when quieter in the week! In fairness, the Gaffer wasn't there, BUT a group of 2 or 3 lads were f...ing and blinding at the top of their voices. On going, no restraint or advice from anyone. Totally disrespectful and uncalled for. Don't bother going in. We won't. Crap.

We have recently moved into the area and have had a few meals at St. Brides Inn, Little Haven. We have to say the staff are very friendly and attentive. Having visited on several occasions, we highly recommend the food. Comming from the United States, the salad is the best I have tasted in the UK. They have made my husband a salad lover...he hardly touched salad before having one of St. Brides Inn salads. If you love fresh fish, lobster and crab....this is the place to visit.
