We had a pleasant stay at the hotel over the new year period. Harbour front room was fine with lovely views. New Year's Day we had a walk and were looking for somewhere to eat. Ended up with a window seat, overlooking the bay and honestly one of the best carvery roast dinners ever. It was like your very best home made meal. Waiting staff were great, very kind and attentive. Was the only meal we ate all day. The roast lamb was divine amd the lemon sponge pudding was light as air. Will remember this meal as a highlight of a fabulous start to the year!

This used to be a lovely place and the Sunday lunch used to be really nice. They’ve decided to put the prices up and cut the portion sizes now, I questioned about the children’s meal size and apparently it’s tiny now it’s a different chef and wouldn’t even suit a 10 year old. So had to buy an adult portion. Even the 10 year old finished the adults meal! Will never return

I’ve been at my mothers side since the early hours in the local hospital, waiting for the inevitable. I missed breakfast, so I walk the mile or two into Deganwy. I see this cafe I’ve not been in before, so I decided to try it. I order eggs on toast and a coffee about 10.00. The young waiter keeps on about his work, and 15 minutes go by. I finish my coffee. 40 minutes (!) have now gone by, and no food! I ask the waiter to check up on my order, frankly I shouldn’t have to ask as there aren’t many customers there anyway. He says they have “Lost My Order” I say I will “just pay for the coffee”, I’m disappointed, hungry, and I’ve had enough. He then disappeared! I have to actually go up myself to pay! I do get an apology, but I don’t even get a free coffee by way of apology! It’s now 10.45, so I return to the hospital hungry. Zero stars for the Olive grove, very poor service.

Staff weren’t very friendly or helpful when first arrived! Just looked at us? no check in til dead on 3pm n then a big queue cos everyone goes at once! Room was tiny n very plain, paper thin walls.. was kept awake by neighbours who just wanted to chat all night! was on the main walkway to pub so noisy and prob worse in summer. Food wasn’t great either n staff quick to jump on you for payment! Dinner only served from 6-7:30!!! Continental breakfast was very good and included but if you want a cooked breakfast you have to order night before?? Really I need to see how I feel in the morning. The pictures showed a lovely lit up bridge .. it was pitch black! Shame cos lovely setting with great walks but won’t book again

As locals, we try to support this cafe when we can, especially when out walking on a weekend. But week after week the slowness of the kitchen service at weekends makes it a frustrating experience, will not be visiting again until it improves . Today, 30 mins wait for 2 coffees, that was after we’d chased them up. I could have walked home, made coffee and walked back with it in less time. Three other tables complaining of the wait when we arrived and others while we were there. It’s a regular occurrence on Sundays. Feel sorry for the waiting on staff who are lovely. Don’t agree with the no cash system, and it’s painful watching the young staff struggle with the card machine connections outside.

We go there at least twice a year. I was worried when I read the last review but when we went yesterday, it was as good as before: extremely clean in the main room by the fire place as well as in the gents and ladies. The young man at the bar was very welcoming, the three real ales were well kept and the food prices were the same as last March. £10 for a beautiful chilli con carne with chips and rice, same price for ham, eggs, peas and chips. The ham was so tasty that we asked who their supplier was. The weather was so nice that we could sit in the garden and appreciate the birds and the apple trees. It is our favourite location in Llandrindod Wells. We have never been disappointed and it is just opposite the train station!
