Found by chance. What a great find. Excellent food very reasonable prices asare the drinks. Great surroundings and lovely warm friendly staff and great dog friendly area . We most certainly will return

Lovely set up and usually a great atmosphere. However....eating in is very very hit and miss. Owners need to employ decent management, who in turn will employ and train decent staff. "Current Crewe" just do not cut it, but it's not their fault. Staff training and retention of good staff is so important. Such a nicely done and very well situated establishment otherwise.

Band outside and very loud! Went inside to get away from band! Band came inside!!!! No branded glasses taken away for the weekend because they get stolen ! Queues for drinks and queues for tables. Seemed very disorganised. Cant imagine eating whilst the band are on, wouldn’t be able to talk. Staff are very young, at least they are working and not roaming the streets.

Sunday lunch - fabulous and service very good

Atmosphere: Overall when we first arrived the Atmosphere was calm and Relaxed which was great, but later on during my stay a band came in and started playing loud music, it was nice at first but then got a little but repetitive afterwards. It also became very busy when the band came in, but that was expected as in addition to this the football was on. Food: The food was absolutely incredible, I ordered a BBQ chicken pizza and it was brilliant. You can tell the staff in the kitchen care about the quality and your enjoyment and they kept it very consistent throughout the evening. Would highly recommend checking out the rest of the menu as there was a great variety of food options for all people from specific dietary needs, picky eaters or people who are vegetarian or vegan as such. Overall food is great for me. Service: Now this was a quite controversial topic throughout my meal, but I want to start with the positives. The staff were very good to us during our meal especially the child workers, If you want to know what I mean by 'children' I mean 13-18 Years of age, because in the U.K Children aged 13 and older may work in establishments like restaurants or cafes if they have something called a work permit, hours and such vary depending which county your in. You can find more information about child employment on your county website, but moving on. The staff were very good constantly checking if we need anything and taking our empty glasses and such. But over to the negative side of things, the food orders were mixed up during the evening because when we ordered we were told our food would come out at the same time, but no. We waited over an hour for our food and when it was served only about two of us got our meals and by the time the rest came out which took an additional 20 minutes we had already finished. Apparently the staff weren't trained in the table numbers so our food which was meant for our table got served to another table, but keep in mind these people came in afterwards and got our food before us, but when the rest of the food was served the person on the other table got their burger as we got the exact same orders that the people received before us, hence what caused the mix up, but basically our food got mixed up with another table. But that's an area to improve on. Overall good restaurant and stay, would recommend coming.

The fish and chips were lovely – fresh, crispy, and full of flavour. The only downside was that all the indoor tables were reserved, so we had to sit outside. Luckily, the weather was really nice🌞 Despite a mix-up with the order and a few cheeky gulls keeping us company, we really enjoyed the food and the laid-back atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to book the table in advance 😊

Didn’t have to wait long (15 mins) for a table. Food was fresh, quality and really tasty, which more than made up for the modest portions. Drinks service was a little sub optimal, more guidance around Guinness pouring would be a worthwhile investment.

We called in over the bank holiday weekend for a quick drink. Sun was shining so plenty of people sitting outside, we got a table after a few minutes Service at the bar quick Toilets were spotless Food looked very good Well woth a visit if your down that way

Bit disorganised ordered "wood fired" pizza but after waiting a while mentioned to a member of staff that there was no one at the oven pizzas arrived. Not "wood fired" very mediocre. Then the staff appeared at the oven. Would have waited if they'd offered the chance. Staff a bit tired from late night.

Superb bar just the ticket when you walk of the beach for a nice cold beer

acceptable food. service was absolutely TERRIBLE. Stood by the entrance, no greeting or help whatsoever, the bald waiter looked at us waiting then on his way went to chat to a table he seemed to know right infront of us as we were waiting so we just walked in and looked for a table. Chosen a table, had to get cutlery and the menu after 5 minutes of waiting. Ordered our food ourselves and we were told it’s okay to pick any table. later another waitress comes by just to ask us if we had booked the table we have sat at, explained to her that it said it was fine and she just walked away, didn’t ask if we needed anything, didn’t ask if we would like water, nothing. Took them 1 hour and some to get our food, and that’s after we asked twice, at first they said they are “currently plating it”, 30mins later, came with the wrong food, they said it was for a different table and walked off with no other explanation. Even our 2 stars wetherspoons back home have better service! my advice? go somewhere else, this place is not worth it.

Expensive for what it is but very close to the beach and dog friendly. Didn't eat just had a cold drink after a few hours on the beach.

Honestly, the best roast I’ve ever had. Ate here twice in two days!!! Staff were excellent. The restaurant manager could not do enough. Would highly recommend.

Terrible experience from start to finish Arrived to be told our table wasn’t ready despite paying a £50 deposit ahead of time Then we were placed on two mis matched tables in the corner We had to ask for menus, had to ask for someone to take our order and then waited over an hour for food Then they seated a giant party all around us who were extremely loud and obnoxious When the food did arrive the beef was full of fat and impossible to cut or eat So disappointed with what was supposed to be a celebration meal for our anniversary won’t ever be returning!

Although the food was lovely the service really let it down. As we had dogs we had to sit in the conservatory area, which was ok. Although I felt we were completely ignored by all staff members. We wasn’t welcomed, if we hadn’t of stood up and got a menu and ordered our food and drinks at the bar, we wouldn’t of got any as no one came over to see us. All the tables in the main area were seen to but as we were in the conservatory we were ignored. We paid a premium for the food, without the service. When we left we didn’t even get a good bye or was everything ok for u. If the staff were more attentive it would really improve the overall experience. Polite attentive staff goes a long way !

What a lovely beach restaurant, lovely food staff was very friendly, a perfect beach stop

Came on our visit last year and was great. This year, so disappointed. Thursday steak night (2 steak meals + wine for £50) was Wetherspoon-like. Lots of a fat & gristle. If I was paying the £28.90 menu price it would have been sent back. Starters were very expensive for such small portion sizes. Children wanted deserts but after waiting over 20 minutes for someone to take our order we decided to leave, paying our bill at the bar rather than waiting for service. £110 bill for 2 adults 2 children is high. Expected high standards. Such a shame.

It was horrible!!! We waited over 1:20 for our food!!! The table was reserved for 19:00. We arrived at 6:30 p.m., were given a table, ordered drinks and waited until 7:10 p.m. to order food. 40 minutes after ordering, they brought us a hummus starter with pita bread. 40 minutes!!! Moreover, during the entire time, the tables that ordered later received their food, and we waited and waited, despite the fact that I said to serve the starter together with the main dish. I don't know what will happen here in the season. Horror!!! I will never come to this establishment again and will make anti-advertising to all my friends who live in this region. I will not comment on the taste of the food, because the level of my disappointment due to expectations exceeded all emotions from the taste.

Checked availability online with plenty of bookings left so stupidly walked around without booking to be greeted with many empty tables and then turned away along with many other people, but we can have a takeaway pizza outside (no thanks) checked availability again online after and there was plenty of bookings left, the staff told us “we tell all our customers to book before you come” thats fine but if you have never been before like us then how are we supposed to know??? wont be returning. Will spend my money else where this season.

We Went to the club for New Year’s Eve in a group.The food was excellent, and service well organised. The entertainment, a female singer made for a great atmosphere, singing all the popular party songs and the dance floor was never empty. Special mention to Paul the manager couldn’t do enough and worked hard all night to make the evening successful. Shame the weather put paid to the fireworks but altogether a very enjoyable way to see in the new year!

Went on a Sunday,the first time. Great food, and the service was amazing. Later in the week on Thursday evening, the food was great. However, the service was not so good. The actual Beachclub is amazing,and would definitely go again if in the area.

I found this via Google maps for a Sunday dinner. The restaurant itself is very clean, well presented and the staff are so friendly. There is a great kids play area looks very new and great to various ages - my 2yo loved it. Food was delicious our table had a variety of starters all were enjoyed, Sunday roast we had all meats on our table and couldn't fault anything. The kids meals are very generously portioned too. Desserts all went down a treat as well, the truffle cake is devine. The fact it is a dog friendly restaurant as well is great, loved seeing people enjoy meals with there pets 🐶 Definitely recommend this place, a hidden gem!

Food absolutely delicious, my grandsons were given halloween gifts bags , service was spot on , staff couldn't do enough for us , be back soon

2nd time we have booked and paid the £10 deposit and the 2nd time it has messed up the bill and required a refund. Very poor today as we had to wait a very long time for the staff to sort the bill out which ruined 😞 a lovely meal. I'm not sure what we did wrong but like I said it's happened both times we've booked online. Very unlikely to book again despite the food being lovely.

I have to respond to this unreasonable review we had travelled from Wrexham this morning especially for lunch at this outstanding bar and we witnessed this whole situation and sometimes it’s the customers that are the “Karen’s” they simply sat at a table that was clearly reserved the poor lady immediately went to the computer to assist with another table this wasn’t good enough the rude and abrupt some people should stay at home. As usual thank you for an outstanding service and food

Went here as a group of four and got shouted at for sitting at a table - apparently you need to pre-book a table but there was no signage as we went in to say so, or to wait to be seated. Bear in mind this was just after midday on a Sunday when they had just opened, and only three tables were in use. I asked the unfriendly woman if we could be booked in and she spent five minutes then huffing and puffing on a laptop to see if any tables were available. As there was no justification for such initial rudeness and a total absence of communication skills we walked out in disgust. This place came highly recommended but the "service" we received was abysmal so thanks to Bar Karen they lost four paying customers. Will never visit this place again or recommend it.

We booked a table for 6pm and the starter of garlic bread arrived 80 minutes later and it was wrong. They then asked if we wanted our mains, seriously we expect to have ate our mains at this time. Extra mains were served which we didn’t order. The pizza order was wrong and the replacement was abysmal. On payment some confusion over the deposit which had been paid but they insisted they checked the system and it hadn’t. No idea which system they checked cos we had paid and currently awaiting a refund. This was a Wednesday night and cos it was raining the restaurant was half full and no outside diners. Very very poor service imo The staff were very nice and apologetic tbf the system or management is wrong.

Excellent spot. Really good food, beer and service. Probably the best food we had all weekend. Well worth visiting, even more so if you're heading to the beach.

If I could give this 6 stars I would. After arriving later in the evening with no reservation we were swiftly accommodated with the lovely front of house staff with a table to sit me and 4 others. Service was quick and efficient with a smile every time. The smiles were contagious as the food arrived as it was superb large portions which left us all stuffed to the brim. I wish we were local as we would come here on a regular basis.

Just no and no !! sit and wait then my husband get in to ask for some food all table inside reserved so we ask if we can order food for outside they said not aloud any other food only burger and pizza we was so hungry so we left wasted to come here and we don't come back we we don't like pizza or burger

Visited the bar / restaurant twice in 3 days and both times the food order was incorrect with items missing , they then tried to charge more foe the missed items after already paying for them !! Extremely poor

The food is very tasty. We always came there for dinner after a rainy day and we really liked it. The owner relied on student jobs to provide the service, which led to oblivions here and there. The atmosphere was ok. It is strange that we were always assigned a table without being booked that still had to be set and that some set 'reserved' tables remained unoccupied during the evening. Maybe something typical for this region...

23.7.24 - Had a disappointing experience unfortunately. Staff were friendly, polite, however service was unacceptably slow, not well coordinated. Ordered a child's main to arrive with two starters. The child's order (pizza) wasn't sent to the outdoor kitchen where the pizzas were being cooked. 45+ minutes before the pizza came, which wasn't eaten in the end due to my daughter being kept good in the meantime with an ice-cream distraction . One of the two starters didn't arrive until we chased them up. Mains were OKish but delivered before the starters were cleared. Wife's burger borderline if it was cooked through. She left most of it. My main not worth the money Drinks arrived quickly, no issue. Birthday meal was one to forget Will only come back for drinks.

10/10 for staff service, food and ambience. Went with friends for Sunday lunch, couldn’t fault anything; would go as far as to stay this was one of the best Sunday lunches I have had. Staff were friendly and professional and couldn’t do enough to oblige. Thank you.

I felt I had to review our experience last night as I have previously written a poor review. 6 of us came for dinner. Despite being very busy we were so well looked after. Nothing was too much trouble. Vicky made sure we had everything we needed and made us so welcome. All of the staff friendly. Our food was delicious and table cleaned promptly. We had such a good time. Thank you.

Wow, the best food we've had this week. We've tried lots of places around Porthmadog while we've been on holiday.. this place has topped all of them. The children's play area is lovely, then coming inside we were blown away. The seating choices are great with different area styles and the terrace is STUNNING. The decor is beautiful throughout. The food was UNREAL, we wished we found this place on our first day as we would have ate here again. All the food was cooked to perfection and was presented beautifully. We couldn't believe the price we paid for the food we were given, we expected to pay much more. The service was phenomenal, the girls behind the bar/serving are lovely and always smiling. Food came within 10 minutes of ordering. Can't wait to come back!!

Nice venue; chilled and good for relaxing with food in the sun. The pizza oven is a bonus!! Seemed like a disjoint on service: ordered food and half of it came; the other half didn’t. Didn’t get any info on having to pick up our own caddy’s for condiments etc. Spoke to the team member who took my order as time constraints meant I wanted a refund. Had to wait on a supervisor who then couldn’t refund me on card. Had to wait for cash. Some servers didn’t know the table layouts so the table next to us waited on food despite the others starting to eat.

Been many years since I have been here. But love the way it's set out now.. world's apart from what I remember.

We came on a Tuesday evening, no booking and it was unexpectedly busy, but we managed to get a table no problem. There was only 3 staff on when we arrived and that went down to 2 around 8ish, so we could see the kitchen and front of house staff were rushed off their feet! But regardless the staff were really attentive and helpful. I'm gluten free and had some questions about the options available and the communication between the chefs and front of house was great. We were sat near the kitchen so the chef even popped his head over the pass to speak to me about certain things, which was really nice. We have a 3.5 year old who loved the outdoor play area and the kids menu is good. The prices are a bit high, but the food was really tasty, so we didn't mind paying it. Overall we had a great time, would definitely come back and would recommend to anyone coming to the area!

This review is long overdue as this is now our 3rd stay, and all have been excellent. The apartment has always been spotlessly clean and is tastefully decorated with thoughtful details, making it feel like a home away from home. It's spacious, featuring a large living room and four double bedrooms. There is a beautifully appointed bathroom and a separate shower room. The kitchen has everything you need, including a washing machine and dishwasher. The apartment has extras like SKYTV, TVs in all the bedrooms, and even a basket of bath toys for little visitors. Everything has been well thought through, and I can't stress enough how clean the place is! The location couldn't be better, as it was within walking distance of the beach. However, the unique selling point is that it is part of the Black Rock Beach Club, and the apartment is above it. When we stay, we fully utilise the convenience of having a restaurant downstairs! The Beach Club has a fantastic atmosphere, excellent facilities, delicious food, a takeaway menu, and a great team of people who go above and beyond to deliver exceptional customer service. The events programme is well organised and is a great night out with no taxi ride home, so it is worth checking out. After three stays, I can confidently say this is a gem. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for comfortable, convenient accommodation in the Porthmadog area.

Awful service and reservation was mucked up 3 times!!!! I spoke to who I thought was the manager - who seemed a bit flustered and struggled to make my booking. Asked me to write down my details and he would book our table and phone me to confirm - no phone call - we went back in with our family on the Sunday - £41 for 6 drinks and 2 ice creams!!!!! - to check and my husband spoke to the same guy I spoke to, who had no clue and the there was no reservation. He asked when the booking was made and I told him i spoke to him yesterday - to be told “oh it’s you. When do you want to book and for how many?” Asked for 5.30 for 6 AGAIN and he told us “yes that should be fine” didn’t take our details. We arrived back that night for our reservation and again spoke to this same guy and he acted like he had no clue and NO RESERVATION AGAIN!!! - how hard is it to book a table?? Finally he seemed to remember who we were and then told my husband “oh I lost your details and I can get a table at 5.30 but NEED the table back for 7pm” we asked if there was another table available for longer - which we were told oh it’s not ready, you’ll need to wait and we can’t take a food order until 5.30. We agreed and went to the bar for a drink. The table was finally ready and we sat down. We were stuck in a back corner to basically be forgotten about. We had to ask for menus to again be told we can’t take orders until 5.30 - this was at 5.20pm. We waited until 5.50 and not one person came to take our order. Had to ask again if we could order. No one came so we gave up and left. To be met with the same guy who said “bollocks, I was just coming to take your order” Not professional at all and we had 2 children with us. Really disappointed and absolute pain for the last day of our holiday! Would not recommend at all! Ans the staff need some training in customer service and how to run a restaurant as this place has potential to be great!

Food was great, the play area was brilliant for the kids

Food was just OK, the only thing prepared on site was the salad. Service was friendly but poor parts of our meals were missing onion rings from my daughter's dish and at the end there were drinks we hadn't had on our bill.

They were busy and still found us a table, which is had with a family of 5. They were friendly and very helpful. Food was amazing. Quality and quantity. We had Sunday dinners (lamb and beef) and nuggets for the kids. It was the best I've ever had. Definitely recommend, on a hot or rainy day.

Location, atmosphere and decor great. Unfortunately food is such a let down. Chips are always soggy. Food always average. Menu perfectly unexciting. Such a shame because it has the potential to be such a good place!

Great place to eat, drink and relax, great food, good selection of drinks, welcoming staff. Good atmosphere. Small children's play area, loads of outside seating as well as inside. Car park opposite the club.

Been wanting to try this place out all week. Finally called in for lunch today. Easily the best food we've had during our visit to the area. Not cheap but for the quality of food, it was very good value. You can tell that it's been prepared by people who care. Great setup, great food, friendly people. Very highly recommended.

Very nice clean bar, staff very pleasant suitable for everyone

Nicely located just off the beach, prices were fair (paid the same as I would have at home) and the place was very clean. Great pub for any age - fairly large play area for kids to use.

Burgers were OK nothing special, overpriced. Service was poor.

Great place for a meal and drink.

We were there for a 18th birthday celebration from Poole in Dorset. 12 of us booked on the Captains table Sat 15th at 7.30. They were very busy but the staff were lovely in particular a lady with red hair (big thank you to her). 10 out of 12 people pre ordered food but we still waited over an hour for the food. There appeared to be much confusion coming from the kitchen, all meals arrived at various times & 1 gent waited ages & only got his burger when most of us were nearly finished. 2 people ordered steak but peppercorn sauce didnt arrive had to ask for it. Long wait but the food was very good. Food 5 stars, Service 4 stars & I have given a 3 star overall as the atmosphere let it down. Not sure if it's because we were strangers but we got various nasty looks from a table next to us. The music unfortunately also let it down - we were excited when we realised there was live music but I'm sorry to say it wasn't good. When it came to requesting our bill I had to tell the lady what we had as for some reason there was no record of the food. Wonderful place, great food & staff but felt a bit let down 😞

Amazing service! The outdoor and indoor areas are fantastic. Clean, beautifully decorated and lots of friendly staff. The wooden park is great for children. I wanted to leave a review as we’ve been many times before but when I emailed to arrange a group booking the manager was so accommodating and thoughtful. We emailed with the hope they could fit us all in and the response was brilliant. Offering us an area to be able to see the children if they wanted to play, telling us about what events they had on, praying for sun for us so we can drink cocktails outside. Just fab service. We are looking forward to coming in June. Thank you

Fabulous place. Sunday lunch was great. Returned a few days later for another lunch. Happened to have sunny warm weather. Sat outside under the shade having an after lunch drink, could have been in Ibiza. Very chilled.

Came here after coming last year and wasn’t able to get in because of how busy it was this year booked a table and wish I never, £16 for a small roast that I’d class as a kid meal, service was ok I guess but was very disappointed that our meal came and had to wait 20 mins for kids meal so our kids was asking for our food because they were hungry wouldn’t come again but beer garden was 10/10

My caesar salad had dirt in it the leaves were obviously not washed. Please just wash the leaves before serving to customers. Also was extremely loud in the conservatory and very cramped, maybe leave that bit for people just having drinks not meals. Service was good, just remember to check your £10 booking deposit has come off the bill as they forgot ours. Other food was nice, chips were lovely, staff were nice.

Food was great. Staff were great but busy. A nice atmosphere was ruined by the night club like music which ran constantly from afternoon through to midnight. Couldn’t get away from the heavy beat in the restaurant. It’s Black Rock not Ibiza. Mix the music up a bit.

We had a lovely meal on Saturday evening. The food was delicious and good value for money with the staff being very helpful and friendly. However, there was a disco on at the pub which ruined our experience. It was far too loud and the music being played made it sound like a rave. I'm not convinced the younger set actually listen to the type of music being played. I don't know whether the owners are trying to recreate Ibiza in the 2000s or they have seriously misjudged their customer needs. It was awful. We left earlier than planned because we couldn't hear each other. We were staying at a caravan site close by and could hear the disco until midnight. This is meant to be a family pub, isn't it? What a pity the owners don't have the confidence to attract customers in a more subtle way. It was packed today, without the disco! I'm all for people having a good time, but I'm sure there us music out there that would cater for people from all walks of life. They had a singer there once who played a range of great music and that was great.

A really lovely place with outside tables, and very nice inside, good atmosphere. Dog friendly in the conservatory, which was a nice place to sit. Food looked very nice too, make pizzas on site and do early breakfasts outside

Me and my family came up to Porthmadog from Gloucester for a week. We came to Black Rock Beach Club on Saturday for some dinner. It was absolutely full of people inside and out. They said they had 100 people inside for dinner tonight and we was worried that we would have to wait a long while for food. They told us to order which we did and within 10 minutes the food came out! We was so surprise on how fast they were. I honestly want to thank the staff for their hard work when the restaurant was busy. Our children loved the play area and the cocktails were amazing. We then booked again for a Sunday roast and that was lovely! We shall definitely be back again! Thank you

Review 2024. Been a few times this year and all parts of service have improved, food as good as ever (hot and tasty) and bar well staffed. Super job, lucky to be a local!! Review 2023: Eaten there twice and drank a few times more over last year and this. Food has always been amazing. Service unfortunately needs attention, has potential to be amaze balls!

Not had a main meal here but have had breakfast baps from the kiosk which are really nice. Good location, lots of tables and dog friendly although only the outside or in the conservatory.

Black Rock Beach Club is fabulous. The staff are friendly & welcoming & Maread, the Manageress, is the best! There is a wonderful atmosphere with both locals & holidaymakers & the place has had a first class refurbishment. Had one of the best meals out in a long time - lobster ravioli followed by rump of lamb. Can highly recommend - 10/10.

Popped in for lunch after a long, cold walk on the beach. Portion sizes are very reasonable for what you pay. The cappuccinos are amazing, that good I ordered two! Highly recommend a visit to this fine establishment. Oh and the staff are all friendly too! 👍😁

What a little gem this place is. So clean and the staff are lovely and make you feel so welcome. We will be back loads when we are visiting throughout the year.

Staff amazing, food AMAZING, can't credit the place enough, went for a short break and ended up eating there Saturday and Sunday. Staff were SOOOOO friendly and the food was all home made (seemed like it anyway) will definitely be back.

Firstly, Matt our waiter was fantastic! He was very friendly and organised. However, a couple of our meals came out late which was disappointing as the rest of the group had finished eating. Matt was very apologetic. Overall, the visit was good. The restaurant is very clean & has a good outdoor play area for the kids. Sunday lunch is good. Would recommend but maybe not in large groups

Love this place. Dog friendly outside and if its a little breezy, dogs are allowed in the conservatory area. Each time we have visited for lunch and are always pleasantly satisfied with our experience. The staff are friendly and welcoming making it a very nice atmosphere. Lovely food. Nice selection at the bar too. Everyone visiting or living nearby needs to visit and support this business because they deserve to be successful

Very expensive for what it is. Almost £20 for Curry of the day and a spoonful of rice and a nan bread in a bowl. Service from the staff was delightful until we had place mats for our pints slammed on the table with a look of disgrace! Made us feel very uncomfortable so we finished up, paid and left. Staff stood at the service desk failed to say goodbye. This review would of got at-least 4 stars

Very disappointed came here end of August. Parked in car park and was abused by staff of Beach Club that we were going to the beach were in fact we were going in for a meal with family from abroad. We then had an hour wait for food we which was over priced and in some case inedible.

Amazing Sunday lunch,drinks are expensive so couldn't stay and have to many drinks

Went here on a Saturday night without a reservation but the friendly staff managed to accommodate us (when we go again we will book first) Food was amazing and very reasonably priced also the atmosphere was welcoming, would definitely recommend

Disappointing visit. Only offering pizza. In darkness and cold. Obviously wanting to shut early. Very poor considering drink prices.
