My kind of pub. Good people and good atmosphere

Found this hidden gem to watch the footy while on hols friendly and welcoming staff.

Really nice local pub with friendly staff and customers.

On this occasion Saturday night full of young girls many underage nearly half we're vaping quite openly so we left after 1 round the date was 19/01/2024

Small traditional pub, back court yard and pool table, friendly staff.

Lovely pub, excellent beer garden, friendly service and brilliant value.

Spot on take own food in and dogs.

Loved the place because locals took priority over tourists! I was welcomed by couple locals who interacted!

a good welcome only had 1 drink while i was there but reasonable price and a nice big garden outside, and dog friendly so was happy that my dog was allowed in

Great local pub especially if you want to watch sport .Even had welsh cakes and bara brith whilst watching Wales play in six nations.

Decent pub. Good beer. Nice touch with Welsh cakes at Rugby Wales v England. Pity about the drug dealing local teenagers who dealt openly in front of us and the drug packages in the toilets. Won’t be back.

What a disgrace, refused to serve me and my family as it was 8.30 pm and my seventeen year old daughter was to young to be on the premises after 7pm , even though she was going to drink pepsi, discrimination comes to mind, not recommend avoid this pub .

Found this pub as mist were shut. Nice enough. Sat in the beer garden which was nice. Staff were efficient and friendly enough.

This is a great pub just outside the main bustle of Porthmadog.. called in 12/07/22 2pm, nice friendly place, beer garden, no food tho.. recommended

A bit dull, was empty, Don t do food at all and nothing to encourage you to hold back

Nice pub decently priced had to mark down as no vaping allowed inside, not a legal requirement am more than sure before the smoking ban it was a smoking establishment, the bar girl was very smart and polite

What a lovely homely place. Fantastic food nice atmosphere very relaxed and chilled. Steak and ale pie was to die for. Great landlady and brilliant service from her muscley nephew. Lol.

Always a good evening at the Red, the staff are always friendly and lovely and there's a nice atmosphere. Pool table and juke box too!

Visited The Red Lion over the weekend, Saturday night and Sunday to watch Liverpool, the locals made us extremely welcome and the bar staff were excellent, all 12 of us who were on a golf weekend had a great time. Thankyou very much 👍

Toilets at main entrance stunk as you come in atmosphere is strange as you walk in as your not Welsh you get looked at by the locals but overall it was okay but needs live music in the area

Nice choice of drinks, Music inside and you can bring your own food in. Family pub and dogs are welcome. Don't be deceived by the outside it's a lot bigger in side and they have a huge outdoor beer garden at the rear. The beer garden has plenty of tables open to the elements but also has 5 large beach style huts with doors just in case the great British weather changes. All the bar staff are friendly and welcoming.

Watched the England vs Scotland game here Staff were fantastic Let us bring in fish and chips from up the road The Girls working that night were excellent.

Unwelcoming and rude bar staff , everything seemed too much trouble for the young bar staff who created a bad atmosphere. Also saw them treating other customers unfairly. This place is trouble!

Me and my bike mate we're in the pub on Saturday night. The landlady and the bar staff were so friendly. I would recommend it.

Lyf ddis pub, I always go here on ffridays with mai new bird, Chloe. Ddis is where she told me she lyfd me and I had a small stiffy, but I'm not sure if that was because of her or because I was drinkin beer, cos ddy beer here is amazing. Kate the landlady does a feri good job here, wish i could live here with mai bird.

It’s just a shame that what is a great little pub, football when you want but the gents toilet brings to mind the bog of eternal stench - the smell is that bad I deliberately didn’t have a shave and by the time I came out the acrid smell had burnt my whiskers off my face

nice friendly place more for the day time I get the impression that night time is a locals bar for Local people but don't let that put you off. Clean cheep and cheerful what more could you ask for.

Regularly call in this pub when we visit Porthmadog, family and dog friendly, great choice of drinks and friendly helpful staff

We used the red lion quite a lot at one time but it's had a lot of landlords and a lot of changes.Once apun a time it did food and it was all cosey and comfortable but now it's just a backstreet pub and used mainly by the locals.It must be difficult to juggle between summer and winter months.

Not many places you can get 3 pints for under a tenner these days. Nice staff. Sky sports as well

We visited the pub last week. The young lady behind the bar could not have been more helpful. The ladies football was on and she went out of her way to ensure that the TV controls worked so we could watch the football she is a credit to the pub.
